They were installed during Covid and the guys were all wearing proper PPE and respectful to our place. We went with fiberglass windows and went with black inside and out. We have worked with JC Lilly a couple of times, with great results each time. A few years ago, Jeanie helped up replace every window in our 1893-built coachhouse (each window had slightly different dimensions) with great results and an easy install. They even came back to cover a warrantied crack in a window a year later at no cost to us. More recently, we worked with Justin to replace our front door and open up a transom window above it. They were able to provide exactly the style and color we were looking for and we're do happy with the results. Words can't express how amazing this team is! We live in Lincoln Park on Ashland Ave on the 3rd floor. This company was a dream throughout our looong search for replacement windows. Unlike other window companies, the owner, Jeannie, spent countless hours answering all my questions and generally educating me on what my options were: fiberglass vs vinyl, noise reduction glass, double vs triple pane, plus the different window configurations and brands to maximize our skyline views. She must have drafted at least 20 estimates for me and even met me at a showroom so I could see the windows we were buying in person -- all with no complaining, no groaning, no pressure. Jeannie is incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and generally delightful. When it came time to install our windows, Slawek and team could not have been more well-trained or professional. They arrived when they said they would, worked diligently while they were here, cleaned up after themselves when they were done (both inside our condo, in the elevator, and in the parking lot!), and just did an all-around masterful job. This included installing an extremely heavy picture window and carving out a chunk of our Hardie siding to make room for the new sliding glass door - not an easy feat. To give you a sense of timing, we placed our order on October 4th. Windows and a custom sliding glass door were installed on December 18th. Reached out to JC Lilly to get an estimate on some windows that have been allowing drafts into our home. Justin spent a good amount of time talking me through the windows (ours are 20 yrs old), and that repair may be a better and more cost efficient option. He even referred me to a repair company. This type of honesty is rarely seen, and he could have tried to sell me a bunch of windows when some weatherproofing repairs could take care of the job. Wow - where to begin??? Back in February, my brothers and I decided to look into having windows redone at our childhood home, where two of us currently live. At that point we were considering selling the house, but that has been postponed. I contacted three window companies to come out and give an estimate. Now, the sale "process" is one that I typically dread. But in this instance, all three of the reps that came out to provide estimates were extremely professional. Obviously, we only needed one company, but I would have been happy with all three of them. But after careful consideration [price-wise, they were all close], I ultimately decided to have JC Lilly replace two large windows and a sliding door in our family room, plus a parlor room window in the front of the house that was difficult to access. I guess when it came down to it, I had the best gut feeling about Jeannie, her crew and her company. While I guess the final measure of the product itself will truly be known after about a year's worth of "all seasons", I couldn't have been happier with the crew and the whole process of removing the old and installing the new windows. I watched much of what they did and really appreciated the care and concern they took in ensuring the windows were correctly installed and functioning. As Daniel was setting them, he would measure and check his level several times to see that the windows were properly placed. The trim was put in place with utmost care. It was as if he doing the work for his own home. In just a few minutes, he even managed to get an awning working for us again - it hadn't been functioning for several years. Slawek was on location about half of the day. He had done the final measuring for the windows and I had spoken to him about doing a window in the parlor room which was located behind an iron grate. He and Jeannie figured out the best option and the final product looks great. The window that had been there had seen its better days - the new one makes the whole room look better. Bottom line - the whole process from start to finish couldn't have gone better. Kudos to Jeannie, Slawek, Daniel and "Dad" for the great job and extremely pleasant experience with this home upgrade. My windows are on the large side (36 x 86) and I needed 8 replaced. I went with "grizzly gray" interior and a brushed nickel finish. They look awesome. The team was outstanding and clearly experts. I have a standard-issue 100-year-old brick 2-flat. When I bought the building, it still had all thirty-four of the original windows. Every ten years or so I replace ten of them at a time and JC Lilly has been the best experience by far. Everyone was professional, experienced, and knowledgeable. Called to ask where it was, got a canned excuse, but was promised it would be in my inbox by EOD. 4 days later, still nothing. This is my first impression, why would I hire them and spend a bunch of money if they can't even get the estimation process right. This seems to be a problem with this company and an easily fixable one at that. I would hope the owner(s) are aware of this nonsense, or perhaps they are asleep behind the wheel. A 100 percent fabulous, woman-run company in Chicago! Do not hesitate to call them if you are looking to have new windows installed. (note: they do NOT do repairs or restorations of existing windows). Take off old crappy windows and put in bright shiny new ones? JC Lilly has you covered. I own a small condo on Chicago's northside and while its typically pretty low maintenance (knock on wood) it was in dire need of new windows after the building settled (unfairly!) in one corner. They no longer locked properly, which is a hazard and after a few windy days where the windows actually blew into the house I figured it was time to get things fixed up properly. Noted, universe, noted! I truly had no idea whom to call -- but after some quick research on Yelp and gathering a few quotes, I went with Jean and JC Lilly Windows. I couldn't be happier. Jean and crew were great at coordinating with me (landlord) and my tenant to make the whole experience really painless. For the first go, I opted to do all the most pressing windows in the house (3 larger ones in the living room and bedroom). These were done perfectly and after nearly 2 years are still in great shape. Next up, I needed the kitchen ones replaced. though a smaller job (just 2 windows) the quote still came in very competitively with other larger companies. Chalk it up for the small operations! Hindsight is 20/20 and in reality I should've had them all done at the same time, which is better for everyone involved and streamlines the cost effectiveness as well. Lesson learned. First off - I did not end up using Jeannie to complete our project, but I still feel that I can write an appropriate review. We were looking to have some less-than-critical projects done. We needed some ancient windows replaced on an un-heated/cooled/insulated porch of a rental unit, and a few other misc. projects. Jeannie was super friendly and helpful over the phone and made a (quick) appointment to come out so she could give us a formal estimate. The estimate didn't quite come back as we expected and she recalled some adjustments we made and fixed it in no time. It still wasn't quite what we were looking for, so she re-looked at the project to make some adjustments to try to meet the price we were looking for. Essentially the issue came down to the fact that Jeannie does not install cheap windows--Which I totally respect, and it most cases is fantastic. Unfortunately we only wanted cheap windows for these locations, so we ultimately went with another company that would install a lower-quality window. I totally respect that they only install better quality windows. Some day we'll need to have the apartment windows replaced and you bet I'll contact Jeannie!
