When we got there, there were only 2 other people getting ice cream (not busy). The girl at the order window (tall with heavy black eyeliner in "wings") neither greeted us, nor thanked us, nor even could manage the slightest smile. She was one of the most unpleasant counter staff we've ever encountered. The other girl there who handed us our ice cream wasn't much better. We both looked at each other like "What the heck?" Then we laughed at the tip jar. I don't think this is the experience Straw Hat owners want for their customers.

There are always just 4 flavors-chocolate and vanilla all the time and two rotating flavors. Banana is always available on Saturdays. The custard comes out of old fashioned machines and looks more like slabs than scoops. I had a scoop of banana and a scoop of chocolate-they pile one on top of the other. Service was nice from the teens working. It's a seasonal place-the owners go to Florida after the season ends a week after Labor Day. Definitely stop at Hanks if you are at Conneaut Lake during the Summer season!

We all ordered medium-sized ice cream cones and upgraded to the waffle cone for an additional 75 cents. I went with their New York Cheese Cake and Mint Oreo Fudge flavors. The NY Cheese Cake flavor was on top and was very creamy! I loved how the cherries were swirled in. The Mint Oreo Fudge was an excellent closer for my ice cream cone as it was fudgy with plenty of Oreo cookie pieces and the right amount of mint flavor. The medium-size was the perfect portion too, it left me plenty satisfied. I will admit the prices might seem a tad on the high side, but the ice cream was very good and I like to support local places when I can. Overall, The Sprinkle Cone scooped out a great experience with friendly customer service and quality hard ice cream.
