From the hard-sell tactics of having aggressively soliciting teams approaching at airport baggage claim , grabbing your luggage and leading you to their waiting cars right outside, to the lack of any metering visible to rider, to the receipt listing payee as U. Limo, AVOID this company. I thought using this local service might be a good way to support the little guy. Upon inquiry, turns out the drivers can only expect a 35% take if the fare, whereas Uber drivers claim 50% of fare. This alone is reason for me to continue using Uber, as I should have done. My ride was from LGA to Chelsea. I boarded the car around 10 AM. The receipt lists the transaction time as 7:55 AM (another red flag). After crossing the bridge into Manhattan, the ride had thus far lasted almost 40 minutes, I asked Miguel, my driver where the fare was- he said $85. Less than 20 minutes later, I again inquired, and fare had surpassed $125. I ended up having Miguel pull over and opting to walk 4 blocks rather than remain trapped in this cash grab operation. When I asked about the final fare, I was shown an amount of $132. When my card was run, and I was asked to verify & sign to approve, amount was $147. Miguel says "it's sales tax". I can imagine had there been any complaint on my part, my lui would have been taken for ransom. Lesson learned. Stick with Uber...For transparency of pricing, for the invisible hand of the economy giving drivers better pay, for the feeling of always being in control as a customer. After this experience, It isn't surprising the company has resorted to fleecing unsuspecting airport arrivals. Hobbling out of work like I'd been shot by a canon -- the incubation period of breakfasts food poisoning was rapidly ripening in my system -- into the cab I dove, or collapsed, one or the other. My driver knew I was not in need of anything other than continuously flowing air conditioning and zero communication. He spoke to ask if he should stop if I needed something before arriving home, I flicked my pointing finger dismissively toward the road which was properly translated as a "No." It was a Friday at 2:30, prime time for school bus dropoffs and through each back road he took me, extra care was given to ensure we never got caught behind, in one case extending his neck like a goose to interpret one minor delay. My destination was reached in great time, the consideration I received by his words and actions caught shades of EMT care. If u can give less than one star, I would. We called a cab for an elderly gentleman, and the cab driver would not take him because he said dispatcher said I was taking a girl and then drove off. The service was good for us except for the fact that we were charged double the original quoted fee. Our driver had to turn back for sometching we forgot so he added on a one way car fare for doing that. we didn't expect it to be so much. It was just 5 minutes extra to go back. read more

Nothing worse then getting into a car that smells like 10 packs of cigarettes!!!! Just got into this car an I'm so nauseas jus off the smell! This is the not the first time with this car service- I know some drivers use their own vehicles but the company needs to let them know to keep it clean an smelling good - I literally have to keep my window open this entire ride just to help me from not smelling the vehicle. Horrible!!!!!!!!! If you can call another can Service...please do yourself a huge favor. I have given this car Service so many chances before writing this review. Yet right now once again I'm super late for work cause of them. After waiting 20 min for them I called. Was told the driver is 1 min away. I'm out front no way I can be missed. Waiting waiting waiting...ok 10 min go I call again...he says oops it says the driver pulled up. Nobody came so he left! I said what?! Why wouldnt he call me if that was the case? They call me every dam time they arrive and rush me out why not this time? I was out front ...standing in the cold just so I dont miss him. This is 4th time this happened . I'm done. I've always had good experiences with this car service. When they say 5mins they mean it. however so far about a handful of The drivers seem to be annoyed when I tell them where I'm going to in Brooklyn (30min drive). Correct me if I'm wrong but if you choose to be employed by a transportation service shouldn't you be prepared and willing to take your customers to their destination? I used city line quiet often until yesterday when I accidentally left my cell phone in the car that brought me home, within 5 minutes of noticing it I called my phone and the driver answered and I asked if he could drop it off, the driver told me I had 2 options, he would drop it off at the base which I'm no where near the base or I have to pay so I can get my phone back, I had to pay my lady $15 I had until paycheck. I wouldn't have minded but with Covid money is an issue for anyone. Money hungry guy!! Never again am I using them. read more

Awful car service, I'd give them 0 stars if I could. Never in my life have I been followed by a cab driver yelling out the window at me. Last year I called ahead to schedule a cab to take my family to the airport. I specified that we needed a car with space for two large suitcases and a stroller, and that there would be 4 of us. They sent a cab with a packed trunk. FIFTEEN minutes later they sent someone who had a friend riding along with him. I had to sit on the floor for the trip while the driver's friend sat up front. When we got to the airport, the driver tried to charge us $5 more than we had been quoted and only backed down after my husband dialed dispatch. I gave them another chance this year. Big mistake. I was quoted $15 for a trip, the driver told me it would be $20 instead once we had already reached the destination. The driver got aggravated when I pointed out the discrepancy and the fact that this had happened before. After I got out, he DROVE AFTER ME while I walked away, YELLING OUT THE WINDOW AT ME. I would have argued right back, but I had my 2 year old daughter with me, so I instead ignored him and engaged her in conversation so she wouldn't be scared of the man driving after us yelling. I have been using City Line Car Service ever since I can remember, even after Uber and Lyft came out. I usually need a ride on my way home in Ozone Park from Gateway Mall and I ALWAYS pay $8-10. Yesterday I had a Hispanic female driver who didn't even bother getting out of the car to help me load and unload the grocery and once I reached my destination she said $13. I responded saying I always pay $8-10 and handed her $10 and she dropped it saying no. She called me a liar several times and she called the main line, 5 minutes later she showed me the manual which said $12 from Erskine. She also mentioned how everything costs money, her car label, stamp, gas and the car itself as if she were speaking to a child. I ended up paying $12, I know its only $2 more but that's not how you speak to a customer at least not in America. She was extremely unprofessional and rude. read more
