I waited over a week to review City Nail Bar because I wanted to see how they held up and we are now on day 10 and they are going strong! Appointment was very easy to book! I just did a basic manicure which included nail shaping (they needed it BAD - see before photo), cuticle care, and polish. Polish starts with a base coat, two coats of the color you choose and a top coat. It's holding up so well and if it wasn't for the grow out happening, I think I could get more than two weeks out of this manicure. Very little chipping is occurring and I've used a steel wool pad on pots and pans and had quite a bit of stuff I had to assemble at work (tents, tables, sound systems) and it's holding on so well. Honestly can't say enough good things and the price was worth it in my opinion! $35 for about an hour long appointment and with the longevity of my polish, I'd say it's worth it. Cute spot in Bates Hendricks. Parking is kind of tough, but there is a small lot and street parking. I will definitely be back in the future! read more

I had an AMAZING experience at City Nail Bar today. I am gearing up for my wedding and realized I completely spaced on booking nails, thankfully, I was able to book a fairly last minute appointment with Addie. Not only was Addie a whiz with a nail polish brush, she talked me through different decisions with my Gel X Extensions and made sure I felt comfortable with them. She did a stellar job working from my reference photo, and honestly created nails that took my breath away with beautiful nail art and chrome. My go-to nail salon!! I've been to this location several times now and have never left disappointed. The inside of the shop is adorable with fun light fixtures and exposed brick and I'm *obsessed* with their PLA polish wall. Carlie did a great job at my latest lavender mani. Be sure to remove any polish before your appointment! They can remove it but it's an extra fee (unless it was their polish). This is also disclosed in their online scheduler, which is super easy to navigate. I anticipate many additional manis from City Nail Bar in the future! read more

Updated to 3 Stars: I submitted a concern to management and received a timely response and a partial credit for my next visit which means I only had to pay 50% for my cancellation. This is fair and aligns with cancellations of some similar nail salons. I appreciate the responsiveness. Original Review 1 Star: I have visited the salon twice and was very happy with the service. I was excited to tell people about my "new nail place." My third appt came and I confirmed the day before as I had every intention on going. However, I was hit by a stomach bug overnight and there was no way I could go nor do I think they would want a sick client coming in. I called before they even opened, told them I was sick and apologized. They called me back to reschedule for the next business day and informed me I'd still be charged 100% of the visit! The City Nailbar location in Bates-Hendricks neighborhood is upscale and edgy. They sell some trinkets (greeting cards, sewing kits, etc.) with crude, humorous language. The old renovated corner building is in the main strip of businesses on East St. The interior is really well decorated and clean. Parking in Bates-Hendricks is free. My nail tech Emily was personable and careful. She checked in regularly that I was happy with the length, shape, etc. I'm really happy with how my nails turned out, and I will definitely be back. read more

Past week I had a chance to check out the second location for City Nail Bar. I love with expanded into the Bates Hendricks neighborhood and restored historic building in the process. Both the interior and exterior of the building look fabulous. On entering, you are offered a tea selection, Champaign, coffee, etc. It's a great way to kick off the experience. I'm also a sucker for their bowl of double bubble gum. It's the smallest thing, but I love it so much. The staff was all incredibly friendly and professional. My friend and I had lovely polish pedicures that took around 45 minutes. The only reason I don't give it a fifth star is it ended up being around $60 before the tip, which seems quite salty and unsustainable for me to visit as often as I would like. Don't normally have manicures, as I was a nail biter my whole life. I've been better about my nail care recently and decided I wanted a manicure with more than just a solid color. I knew of City Nail Bar through a girl I went to high school with, and booked a Tier 3 session with Karlie. Karlie is so nice and easy to talk to, and did a great job on my nails. The shape is great, the art looks great, and she made sure to check in about the way everything looked every step of the manicure. It's definitely more on the pricy side, but I thought the service, the salon itself, and the nail art was worth it. Will definitely go back!! read more

Brand new location for City Nail Bar in Bates-Hendricks! I'm biased because I'm excited I can now walk to it, but I would recommend checking this one out if you go to their New Jersey St location or if you've been thinking about trying them. This location is much more spacious, and free street parking is plentiful. I'm not a frequent salon person, so I don't have a sense of how their prices compare to other places. I got a pedicure and it was $50. Lots of polish options, everything is clean and beautiful. My skin felt great and the staff is friendly. I'm happy to have them in the neighborhood and hope they see a lot of success here! read more

Ana did my nails 2 days ago & my index finger broke in under 24 hours . I went in that day to get it fixed & today I worked today which I do bartend daytime , so it is much slower during the day I'm literally only pouring mimosas.....& these are my nails after ONE SHIFT. I might as well just threw $80 in the air. The new city nail bar in bates hendricks is absolutely beautiful! They converted an old brick building into a spacious nail salon with lots of natural light. The place is so clean, and they did quality service! The ladies working were even so friendly and offered me a sparkling water during my services. Booking online was easy to do and clearly laid out all their different services and prices. They had a good number of nail colors to choose from and had it easily laid out on a clear sheet for you to test the color against your skin. My pedicure was amazing and the technician took her time. The only reason I knocked the review a star was because she never gave me the moisturizing hand massage or warm towel that was a part of the manicure service. My guess is she was running short on time before her next client, but I was bummed because I was really looking forward to that part of the pampering. read more

I went in after having my dip powder soaked off my nails were dry from the soak off but were in good shape. I got the nail enchantment and it's a builder gel. Cool .. whatever I usually do dip but I'm very educated on nails .. I left w my nails all lumpy and was told it was dips in my nails because of my dip powder which there wasn't.. then got told at check out it was because they were drilled. Also not true. So long story short I just paid $65 for lumpy, bumpy nails that look like my 6 year old did them and I now have to have them fixed but another shop because I will not be back. Didn't even wanna waste time trying to get them "fixed" because I was already irritated and the lady seemed like she wasn't interested in fixing a problem she created. You can tell the builder gel was applied way too thick at my tips causing my nails to be lumpy and look terrible. The vibe was nice. Really wanted this to be a new place for me. I called the New Jersey St location and they referred me over to this nearby, new location. I was able to get a quick manicure. My nails were filed, cuticles cared for, and polished perfectly. The space is large, bright, and comfortable. Highly recommend! read more

This review is based strictly on my experience with the front desk as I HAVE NOT had my nails done here (nor will I) but I have now had several interactions with the front desk over their cancellation policy. I had to make a last minute appointment the day before my wedding because my original nail stylist cancelled. Unfortunately I woke up the day of my appointment extremely ill and had to go to the emergency room. As soon as I was able (as I was having a medical emergency) I left a message saying I wouldn't be able to make my appointment. I then called 3-4 more times (well into when they opened) before finally reaching someone who said that they would be charging me the cancellation fee and that I would need to talk to the owner to get it removed. Thinking of course they would make an exception for a medical emergency with documentation, I waited the rest of that day and the next day for the owner to call. 2 days after what was supposed to be my appointment I call back and ask if the owner is in as I'm expecting a call from her. The lady on the phone said she's not in but that because I called within 2 hours of my appointment that I would probably be charged the full amount. Great to hear, I'll still wait for the owner thanks. I finally get a text from (I'm assuming) the owner explaining that she "can't make the decision of who's exempt from the cancellation policy" when she's the owner! Its her business! I have documentation showing where I was and gave every effort to alert them to the problem, but none of that was taken into account. My advice? Use this place at your own discretion, they are unforgiving and I wouldn't be surprised if they charged even if there's a death in the family or something completely out of your control. They just want money and obviously they need it. read more
