I absolutely love the West Columbia Riverwalk. I've been coming here for years, sometimes to run,…read moresometimes to take a leisurely stroll, walk my dog, clear my head, converse with friends, etc. No matter what time of year you go, it's absolutely beautiful, but I think it's at its peak during the spring months, such as March and April. While you obviously get a great view of the Congaree River, there's also an abundance of flora and fauna for you to look at, and it's fun to try and spot the turtles perched up on the rocks on a sunny day. There's also a lot of really cool pieces of artwork painted onto the bridge-beams surrounding the river, as well as an assortment of picnic tables and viewing benches for you to sit down and relax. All-in-all, I love the Riverwalk, and I'll be coming back for years to come.

It is a safe environment with plenty of people out walking, plus it's dog friendly. Beautiful scenery and homes along the trail and not to mention you're surrounded by water and the sound of the stream will keep you going. I did see a few people out riding bikes as well. I'm a biker myself, but didn't think that the trail was large enough for large groups on bikes. But then again, are most trails ever?? If you're in the area please do plan to check it out and go for a stroll. Parking is limited, but also available down the street.

After getting a quick snack to take along with us, we visited the river walk and then came back the next day to walk it again! This river walk allows you to get multiple great shots of the Congaree River. Considering this is a paved/board walk trail, it really is friendly to all who would take a stroll, from all fitness levels, ages, and wheels (bikes, strollers or wheelchairs), you have a lot to see and do here. Although we only walked maybe a mile of the trail, which sandwiches itself between the river and a nearby neighborhood, it was getting late in the evening and we didn't decide to walk the 8 miles of this walk. Near the start of the trail there is a lovely amphitheater and although there is no music...there is a small band at the top of the amphitheater in the form of an artistic display. This artwork is really cool and you should get a photo with them! Also near the amphitheater are bathrooms and parking. The parking lot directly in front of the trail start is somewhat small, but we always either found a spot or found someone coming out of a spot when we came in. If I lived in Columbia, I'd likely be at the Riverwalk several times a week. As it stands, if you're close to here for any reason and you have an hour, check the west Columbia river walk out!

Sesquicentennial state park is beautiful! They have 4 trails, including one trail (Sandhills trail)…read morethat loops around the lake, which makes for some great photos during sunrise or sunset. They have a little visitor center when you can buy a bunch of souvenirs, snacks, and can get a stamp in your SC state parks passport. If this review was solely on the trails and beauty, it would be a 5/5 but unfortunately the campsite brings it down a bit. The campsite is on the larger side, and has 3 bathhouses to accommodate the area (close to you). You are given the basics like a picnic table & fire ring. Sites 1-29 have 20/30/50 amps, and 36-84 have 20/30 amp electric hookups. Sites 1-9 are full service (also have sewer). These sites do not give you a lot of privacy, and it seems like they built as many sites as they could in a confined area instead of spreading the sites out a bit to give the camper a bit more privacy. The bathhouses are clean, but are very dated and are in desperate need of a renovation. If you are not a camper, you will be charged an entrance fee of $6 if you are an adult, $3.75 for seniors (65+), or $3.50 for children (6-15). Overall, a 5/5 for the beauty of the park and amenities outside of the campsite, but 2/5 for the campsite itself.

Spot 9 was wide however not very level. The bathhouse was very close however the accommodations were very dated. They were building new bathrooms adjacent to the old one, but they were just starting. Might be ready for summer. The park has a wonderful lake with boat rentals and a splash park. It was a very quiet park. Many restaurants and grocery stores are located near by.

South East park is perfect. Located near the interstate and eateries. The park has short walking trails circling the pond. Lunch tables, and bathroom. The turtles were fun to spot. There is a ampatherater that they use very often within the community. It's dog-friendly, and there are even swing chairs for the adults that might still have some kid in us. There are nice bathromms and parking is easy. There are always cop cars there dont worry. They do sometimes close the park for events like forth of July, so be aware that it's a park that can be closed. Its down town, but it does not feel that way its feels like you're lost in the great nature.

Left was where we went for pictures amongst the tall trees on walking trails. There are winding trails that go down/up elevations through wilderness areas. There are public restrooms very clean all things considered, few small ponds, a book rental box, and of course the playground. The play area looks fairly new encompassing a large area with the rubber ground. Reading and seeing older pics here on Yelp there was gravel before in playground so this is massive upgrade. There is an outdoor covered bench spot right beside playground good for children parties. Finally there is the water shooting fountain pipes?? I don't know what these are called but they shoot water randomly that children jump through. It is great place to bring children and offers many picture locations.
