I've had the privilege of working and volunteering at a number of Islamic institutions throughout SoCal and I can confidently say that City of Knowledge is truly unparalleled. While every institution has areas that could be improved, and City of Knowledge is no exception, what sets them apart is their openness to feedback and their proactive approach in addressing concerns. They always demonstrate a forward thinking mindset that puts them leaps and bounds ahead of others. The mere fact that they are one of the few Islamic schools offering K-12 education for over 20 years is a testament to this! The level of professionalism they work to maintain, their thoughtfully crafted curriculum, and the dedication of their staff are all remarkable. I had the opportunity to send my son to their preschool for a brief period and since then, I've mourned the fact that we couldn't continue due to the long distance. The short experience there left a lasting impression on him and I've long hoped that one day the circumstances will allow us to return. Teacher Lenda is extremely genuine, patient and really cares for her students. She is such a crucial part for all kindergartners learning experience because she paves the way to their education. Besides Teacher Lenda, the school and administrators are amazing. They are all similar to Teacher Lenda, patient and kind. I've never had a question unanswered. My kids love city of knowledge, they are learning a lot, the teachers are strong and professional, they do a lot of exams to see what areas my kids want to develop more. Dr. Shaikley the principal is literally like Our country principal (firm, professional and very empathetic) the are upgrading the STEM lab and the Gym the best part is the sports basketball and football, my kids love it, all religions and Mazaheb treated the same so I feel safe for my boys. City of Knowledge hasn't been the best after the pandemic (2020). Classes mixed together, like 6th grade with 8th grade, their education was better from 2013 to 2019 after it has been horrible. This school cannot improve after the sudden ditch it has thrown itself in. You get searched every day if you have technology, and if you're carrying anything like a phone, they will take it away and never give it back. It has personally happened to me, and I do not like it; they don't let your parents even get the phone back for you or anyone. This is not the best school to join anymore. read more

City of Knowledge has provided a safe and positive environment for me to learn and grow as a Muslim individual in California. It allowed me to have a place where I can excell academically without having to forget my faithful background. In addition to standard curriculum, honor and AP classes, students like me are able to learn ethics, Arabic, and Quran here, which in my opinion, is the most important part of education that our youth can have. It is what will stick with us for as long as we live. Coming from a Sunni background, I never felt any friction between different Islamic schools of thought and mine in all my years of attending City of Knowledge. In fact, I felt quite the opposite- a union between me, friends, staff,and volunteers who may not have come from the same school of thought as me. The school also introduced me to some of my closest friends and successful alumni who provide me with helpful resources when I need them and have stayed close to me years after graduating. It is true that City of Knowledge has small class sizes and that is a good thing because it allows for a better learning experience and one-on-one interaction with teachers and students. At the City of Knowledge, everyone feels like family and no one is left out. The principal, staff, and volunteers truly do carry a special place in their hearts for their students and I know this from first-hand experiences. Last but certainly not least, City of Knowledge allows students' voices to be heard, not only in the student government, but for all students, in all grades. The students are allowed to propose ideas for improvement and if they are positive and relevant, such as buying new gym equipment for P.E. classes, and the C.of K. staff would do anything in their power to make sure it happens and their students are happy. I can ensure this is true from my own experience in helping City of Knowledge in create a successful girls' soccer team during my time in high school. God Bless the school principal, Dr. Shaikley, for being the strongest, most warm-hearted woman who always challenges her students to become better in all aspects of life. "DON'T OPPRESS AND STAND WITH THE OPPRESSED." That is the teaching of City of Knowledge school. And that's one of the many beautiful things about this school that has kept me and my family connected to it for over 20 years. I remember vividly when me and my children first came to the school. My daughter who was 10-11 years old at the time asked "what if they don't like us." She was worried because we're black. I told her they are MUSLIM! SUBHANALLAH! I was right. The school became our home with a huge family. Me and my children were treated with the highest respect. My children grew in a very healthy ISLAMIC environment, ALHAMDILILLAH! Bringing me to CKS when I was in the 4th grade was easily the best decision my parents ever made for me. The top-notch education I received at CKS provided me with the foundation to become a successful lawyer working at one of the world's top law firms today. But great academics was only half of the package. The other half being the community of friends with whom I am still in contact today and with whom I stay culturally connected to my Islamic upbringing - this has been truly priceless. My daughter just finished first grade here and my son is getting ready to join her in kindergarten when she goes back for second grade. She has gained a knowledge of reading, writing and performing plays in Arabic. She loves going to school and has gained a reinforced sense of her culture and identity. The City of Knowledge School has the best preschool, elementary school, middle school and college prep high school. All the graduates go to well reputed colleges and universities and more than 70% of graduates have graduated from Grad school. The environment is very friendly with high moral values. The students are focused on education and the school has a variety of extracurricular programs and activities. They provide involvement in community service, interfaith activities and volunteering. I know many students that have graduated from the school and they are amazing individuals with very bright futures and successful lives. One is finishing dental school this year and one is studying premed in George Washington University. My third one is a junior and my youngest child is a sophomore. This school is an outstanding institution that cares about each and every student as their own. Islamic values and education are great. Academics is top notch. My three children, grades Pre-K, 3rd grade, and 4th grade, attend the City of Knowledge School. We moved from Florida to Utah and finally to California, and this is their first year at the City of Knowledge. I believe that this is one of the best Islamic Schools my children have attended. Due to the pandemic, they could not go on campus at this time, but they have an excellent administrative and IT staff that has made virtual learning enjoyable and user-friendly. The school is like a small community where you become a big family. The teachers and the Principle treat the children like their own. I feel comfortable that my children are getting a well-rounded Islamic education that would teach them Islamic values, good character, and the love of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his (SAW)  family. I see the changes it has made in my children and tries to apply what they learn in academics and Islamic behavior. Both of my children went to this school for five years, after which time we moved out of state. The best thing was that the principal knew every student by name and cared a lot for every child. The educational part was geared towards the students ability with students being guided towards their goals in a non-pushy way.
