There is a nice hiking trail around the perimeter or through the park that is well maintained. It's more of a bike jump park with places for kids to get comfortable as well. We don't have any other of these parks that I know of around the valley so while it was smaller than expected it's the only one. The hike is easy and we would come back if we're in the area as it's about a 50 minute drive from home. Definitely happy we checked it out!

This weekend I was diverted from my usual route to St. Anne's in Gilbert. Get there early if you…read morewant a good parking spot and avoid the small traffic jam into the parking lot. Like many churches in the valley, you're able to see more of the church from its parking lot than from the street. As I walked in, I was struck by two things: the silence and reverence that was occasionally pierced by the scream of a baby and the way in which your eyes are immediately drawn to the center of the sanctuary with a large painted icon of the Good Shepherd. Christ the Good Shepherd is flanked by statues of St. Anne and St. Joachim. The tabernacle is in the traditional place with sanctuary candles burning. The procession started with half of a "platoon" of altar boys. Most people kneel at the communion rail for Holy Communion. There are some EMHC but they're more of an afterthought than an integral part. One comes away with a simple take away of St. Anne's Catholic Church. That this is a crying Church, and one with a good future. As the saying goes, "IF CHILDREN ARE NOT CRYING, THE CHURCH IS DYING".

It's a good thing too because the prosecutors officer and police department in this city dont give a damn about justice until it can be bastardized to bleed money from the innocent. just because they can. Not all, I'm sure. But to the point where it's truly shocking they get away with it. The courthouse and judges in it are the only shot at justice you might be given, and luckily they are doing the best they can.

Not committing any crime i stayed on site for scottsdale police to arrive and when 2 rookie ass cops not knowing how to question or investigate show up it was automatically an arrest for them. To take it further the public pretender tried to get me to incriminate myself with her questioning. She refused to interview the neighbors who heard and saw the so called allegations. She did nothing on the case but show up in court to schedule the next court proceedings. This city court is a failure and should be charged for violating peoples constitutional rights and injustice. The prosecuting attorney is a tv show attorney at best and got his law degree probably inherited to him.

Prices have gone up for park…read moreentry and passes for the first time in quite a while -- it's $10 per vehicle for entry, which I think is still a bargain for a weekend activity with the family. They keep improving the park and it's always clean when I go -- which is quite frequently (at least once a week, but usually more in the spring and summer). The facilities have changed for the better over the years and there is actually more parking within the park itself than you might guess. The volunteers are friendly and do a wonderful job welcoming people, collecting fees and offering advice. Recently, there has been work on the Pass Mountain trail that reroutes it a bit and makes it more easily passable. Wind Cave is still really popular with families, but I have noticed Talon getting a lot of traffic, especially from mountain bikers. The loop around Pass Mountain is great for a longer challenge. It's good for a car entering or him entering without the car. ($20 extra to add an additional person, but I'm covered if I'm in the car with him.) Such a great variety of trails and elevations here. There is truly something for every type of enthusiast. I walk a lot on Blevins which is about a 3.3 mile loop. My husband does trail running. I always see lots of mountain bikers out enjoying the trails. There are also trails like Wind Cave: it's about 3.2 miles up with around 1000 ft elevation gain. At the top you get a great view of Phoenix and Ft. Hills. If the timing is right you can even see the famous Ft. Hills fountain going off in the distance. In the spring if it's a good wildflower year you might see some good wildflowers on the Pass Mt. trail. It's really just a beautiful park to come visit and enjoy the beauty of Arizona. I've seen a gila monster, rattlesnakes, lizards, jackrabbits, coyotes, tarantulas, deer and scorpions so stay alert but enjoy!

I actually like to do jury duty (call me weird). Hey, what is there not to like about it? If your…read moreemployer pays you for the day, you get a day to surf your phone or read a book or just hang out and not think while you are waiting in the jury room to be possibly called. I've done jury duty in San Diego and now in Phoenix. This is the first time I had to report in as opposed to my group number not having to show up and being excused. The worst part for me is driving downtown but my hubby drove me so that was good. On the jury summons they show you where to park and they validate the parking so it is free for you. The jury room where you wait is actually a good size room with somewhat comfortable chairs. Tip - there is a row of chairs on the side of the room that have the outlets for plugging in your electronics. There are other places available to plug in, but these are convenient. Only bad thing is those seats get claimed fast so show up early! The court system really tries to make the experience very favorable and not too much of a hardship. There is a kitchen area where coffee is made and you can make tea. There are vending machines for water and soft drinks plus a fountain you can get purified water from free of cost (no charge for coffee or tea either). There's a microwave and a fridge if you need to heat up something for lunch if you are there. Bathrooms are located in the jury lounge too. You have the freedom to get up and go outside while you are waiting as long as it is limited to 15 minutes and you sign out and then cross your name off when you get back in. All in all not a bad experience! There were only 2 cases the day I had to appear and both cases were settled without going to trial so we were all excused by about 10:15 a.m. They say I won't be called for at least 18 months before having to report again for jury duty, but I wouldn't mind if it was sooner. Staff is very friendly and helpful! Nice touch to have the judge come in and thank us for our service and explain the process to us.

If you look up the top attractions in Phoenix on TripAdvisor, Dobbins Lookout will be toward the…read moretop of the list. For good reason. Located in South Mountain Park, Dobbins offers picturesque views of Phoenix and surrounding areas. There are two ways to get there: (1) you can take the easy way and take a scenic drive up to a parking lot right next to Dobbins or (2) take Holbert Trail to Dobbins which will be about an hour an a half hike. Naturally, I took the more difficult route and was rewarded for my efforts with all that Dobbins has to offer. You'll see people sitting on the various benches and ledges to enjoy the views. You'll see people snapping pics. And you'll even see vendors in the parking lot selling Native American art and jewelry, drinks, and snacks. While I wasn't there during sunset, I hear it's a spectacular place to come at that time.

Dobbins Lookout, Phoenix, AZ, Nov, 2025. Driving up to the Dobbins Lookout was a highlight of our…read morerecent vacation in Phoenix. This lookout is in South Mountain Park and Preserve (see my separate Yelp entry), which is one of the nation's largest municipally-owned parks. You can hike up to the lookout on the Holbert Trail, which is reputably a steep uphill on a rocky trail. We took the easier option -- the 5.5 mile road that takes about 25-30 minutes to drive up. This scenic, gradually climbing road is shared by motorized vehicles and mountain bicycles, and is an adventure in itself. It features blind corners, narrow sections, and some treacherous drop-offs. The lookout is at 2,330', the highest point in the park that is open to the public. The highlight is the panoramic 360-degree views of the Phoenix metropolitan area, Camelback Mountain, and the Sonoran Desert. There are also old masonry structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a shaded structure, benches, and a primitive restroom. There are other lookouts to check-out nearby, and you might consider going up early morning or late afternoon for cooler temperatures and sunrise or sunset. Entrance gates are open from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., although hiking trails are still open after 7 p.m. and you can exit until 11 p.m. Admission and parking is free.

Phoenix City government is very poorly run. You have to…read morewait 4 hours for police to come to your home to give a police report. Their water services department doesn't monitor water usage and they don't have the ability to tell you what your daily water usage is like many other Valley city's can. They won't even alert you if your water line bursts like other Valley city's do.. If you're looking for a Valley city's to live in, Phoenix definitely isn't the one to choose. But if you like terrible service, Phoenix will definitely deliver it to you.
