So make sure you have exact change. There is a phone provided next to the kiosk for billing purposes and questions. I have had an unbelievably horrible experience with SoCal gas this week! Workers showed up at my…read moredoorstep at 7:30 AM the other morning to inform me that they're replacing old gas lines. I never received any communication from SoCalGas that this was going to occur, but I let the workers get started and they started Jack hammering on the side of my house for two straight days! I had to keep my three dogs in the house. Then I took one of my dogs for a walk and one of the workers started. Jack hammering on the sidewalk right as I passed by which spooked my dog and he took off down the hill and I face planted in the middle of the street and ended up in the hospital. Then I was informed they would have to cut through my Jasmine that's planted on the hill to have the pipe go to the street which would ruin my entire garden. I told them I didn't want my garden looking any different than it does now and they couldn't promise me that so now they have halted the entire project and I will not be getting gas lines after all because they don't know how to go down the hill without ruining my landscaping. At no point was I informed that any of this would happen and at no point have I received any apology or compensation for the hospital bills that I'm going to incur. Unfortunately my hands are tied because there are no other gas companies in my area. The main thing that SoCal gas is failing at is communication and knowing what they're doing! What a racket!

The clerk, Elizabeth Arant, treated me with suspicion, disrespect, and zero compassion. She went out of her way to question and delay my paperwork, made extra photocopies of my ID for no clear reason, and spent 30 minutes walking around with my documents. Later, when I returned to check the status, I found out my license was never filed. To make matters worse, she sat nearby watching and smirking as I was told my marriage wasn't being recognized. It was cruel and unnecessary. As a county nurse myself, I work with people from all walks of life, including those incarcerated, and I would never treat anyone this way. County employees are supposed to serve the public with respect and professionalism -- not judgment or bias. I've tried for days to file a grievance and have been bounced from one department to another with no help or accountability. This experience left me devastated and completely disheartened. I hope the County takes this seriously because no one should ever be treated like this when they're just trying to get married.

While very spread out compared to some parts of SoCal like Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, Coachella Valley or even parts of San Diego Oxnard has a lot to offer. I'm not Oxnard expert in the slightest, but having ventured here more than a handful of times in the last two decades I've seen it blossom a bit.

I have been given random acts of kindness multiple times by strangers at restaurants, coffee shops or simply by walking on the street. It's that type of love that makes me so thankful to be part of Oxnard and say it loud and proud. I have lived in Spain, SB, Washington D.C. but my heart is always in Oxnard. I am so happy with all the new things coming to town from the murals to the revamping of our harbor. Oxnard has a terrible reputation but its peoples resilience is what will continue to make it such a great place to live and thrive.
