We had our wedding at City View Loft in August 2020 and we could not recommend the venue more! Because of the pandemic, we had to make many changes but working with Jamie made everything easy and stress free. She was extremely patient and worked with us as we went back and forth trying to make decisions throughout the months leading up to August. She responded quickly to all our questions and always had a bright and positive attitude, which we really appreciated during that time. Jamie was even able to allow us to come the day before to decorate since there were no events going on. Working with Jamie made the venue that much more special to us! The venue itself is beautiful. All the photos came out stunning and beautiful. We had our ceremony and cocktail hour downstairs in Kitchen Chicago and dinner upstairs. Both areas are beautiful and very photogenic. The view of the city from the upstairs windows is breathtaking and a perfect backdrop for photos. The food was amazing as well. Our friends still talk about how the food was so delicious and a few of our friends have even tried to recreate the salad. The cake was done by Sophie at Vanille. She was amazing to work with as well. We walked into our consultation completely clueless and Sophie guided us to our dream cake! It was beautiful! Overall we're so happy we went with City View Lofts! We appreciated the professionalism and positive attitude of every staff and vendor that served us. It was not the wedding we originally envisioned when we booked the venue last year (pre-pandemic), but it was better than we could have imagined and turned out to be a memorable day we will never forget. We're so grateful to CVL, all of their staff, and the owners for working with us and being flexible during the pandemic to make this all possible and done safely. We've heard so many awful stories of friends being swindled out of their deposits and/or being strong-armed by the venues they've booked with. We chose CVL for our wedding reception on 8/31/19 (Kitchen Chicago for our ceremony). Although the building itself was a little hard to find at first and not in the most glamorous looking area, we knew it was the venue for us after seeing the open space, exposed brick, and beautiful view of the Chicago skyline. It's also reasonably priced compared to other venues we looked at in the city, flexible with vendors as long as they are insured, and did I mention they offer a BYOB option? :) Jamie Bacon was the cherry on top of it all, she was so easy to work with. She is knowledgeable, thorough, and accommodating - everything you could ask for when planning something as big (read: stressful) as a wedding! The communication we had from our initial walk-through to the big day was prompt, and Jamie patiently answered each one of my questions no matter how small. Here are my top 3 takeaways from our wedding day: 1. One of my family members forgot the teapot AND tea for our tea ceremony. Jamie was quick to act, and offered tea and a pitcher in a pinch. 2. Food catered from LM Catering was amazing. We had multiple guests come up to us during the reception to let us know. 3. Staff was incredibly attentive. Appetizers were served to my husband and me immediately in our private room after the wedding ceremony. The same attendant made sure we were well fed and hydrated throughout the night too - such a thoughtful detail, considering lots of brides and grooms forget/get too busy to eat. We selected City View Loft/ Kitchen Chicago for our wedding on 11/17/18, and it was the absolute best decision we could have made! When searching for a venue, we immediately decided to book after the initial walkthrough. The space is modern, urban, open and airy. Upstairs has an incredible view of the cityscape! The entire team we worked with was incredibly accommodating. All chairs, tables and tea light candles were included. We were able to drop off our stuff prior to the wedding a day early, which was so helpful! The food (LM Catering) was incredible as well. We are still getting complements on how amazing the meal was. We received so many compliments from our guests about how amazing the space is and how perfect it was for the entire wedding. The team worked seamlessly with all of our vendors, and if there were any issues, our guests and we had no idea! A huge thanks to Gabi for helping us throughout the wedding planning process. I had the extreme pleasure of attending a wedding here this past Firday. Awesome, small but intimate space with a knockout view of the Chicago skyline from a west side perspective. CVL was a perfect choice for our June 29th wedding. Everything from the food (LM Catering), to the staff (shout out to Jamie and Gabi) and the gorgeous city views made our day exceed expectations. My husband and I highly recommend the venue to anyone that is looking for a unique, re-purposed space with tons of history and an urban vibe. The elevators can be a bit slow, but is understandable for a building of this age. Additionally, there are two bathrooms on each floor, but wasn't a problem with our smaller wedding of 100 people. My husband and I were married here on January 12, 2018. Our day was nothing less than magical and it is all thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff. Gabi and Jamie were the most wonderful, and thorough guides to what could have been a confusing and difficult process-wedding planning is no joke! Throughout wedding day, Gabi made sure to come up to me on several occasions just to ask if I needed anything. I can't tell you how much that meant to me. We had our wedding here on 10/17/15 and it was magical. We had a long engagement and we experienced many turnover issues as well as the dissolution of the original catering company. That being said, Gabi took care of us at all times and was so responsive. First off, the space is amazing and totally unique. We used the second floor for our ceremony and the third floor for our reception and the transition was seamless. Also, the food was great and totally affordable. Our guests told us that the appetizers and food was the best they had ever had at a wedding and we were very happy with the outcome. If you are a couple on a budget, but want to get married in the city this space has many places where you can save but still achieve the desired effect. Specifically, the tables and chairs that are included in the rental are gorgeous on their own and do not need many adornments. Also, there is free parking all around the area so you don't have to worry about paying for valet parking. We loved the venue and highly recommend it. read more

We had our wedding here on 2/13/2015 and we had a blast! I was looking at other venues that could accommodate up to 200 guests (we ended up with 185). What I liked about CVL compared to other similar venues was that the price was much more all-inclusive and there weren't as many choices. That might sound counter-intuitive but other places will do anything you want - for a price; that quickly drives up the cost when you start including rentals, candles, coat check, bar service, different tiers of catering, etc. At CVL we used their tables, chairs, did our own decorations (just lots and lots of candles) and rented some extra tables because we wanted large, banquet style seating. Our bill at the end was pretty much what we were quoted in the beginning. (Coat racks, bar service, catering, and their furniture is all part of the package). We wanted an industrial looking venue and this was by far the most beautiful one that fit our large size. We used the Kitchen Chicago space for the ceremony and cocktail hour (and Kitchen Chicago for catering) and then went upstairs for dinner and dancing. We worked with Gabi and she was extremely easy going and attentive leading up to the event. So many guests have commented on how beautiful our wedding was and more importantly how fun! The only snafu we had was that dinner came out late, but everyone had had so many delicious appetizers and were busy socializing with their tables so it really wasn't a big deal. All of the little things were handled so well by the staff, like getting everyone in the bridal suite a glass of champagne before we walked down the aisle, making sure my husband and I were brought a plate of appetizers, and doing the finishing touches on setting up our decorations. Absolutely would recommend to other couples!!! read more

We were married at City View Loft on August 31, 2018. I always wanted to have a destination wedding and since my husband is originally from one of my favorite cities, Chicago, we decided to have our wedding there. I am not the kind of woman who had every detail of my wedding mapped out but I knew I wanted a venue that reflected our sensibilities. City View Loft was exactly what I envisioned because it was the perfect mix of cool, urban, sophistication and even without decor, it's such a bright and beautiful space. We had our ceremony and reception there which made everything so manageable and allowed us more time to spend with our family and friends, many of whom flew in from out of town. Jamie and Gabi were wonderful to work with from the very beginning. They are knowledgeable, responsive, and clearly well-regarded by the vendors they partner with; they truly made our wedding planning process easier to navigate. I made what could have been a critical error related to my flowers and decor. This was completely my fault but they worked with our event designer and our amazing wedding coordinator to bring everything together less than two days before the wedding. I am eternally grateful for all that they did to make our day so incredibly special for us and our guests. On a practical note, we found City View Loft to be reasonably priced considering the quality of the food (it was delicious) their exceptional team and staff, and the sheer loveliness of the space. We had both our ceremony and reception at City View. I cannot begin to describe how happy we were with our experience! Jamie was amazing to work with, she was attentive, fast to respond to my many emails and always had an answer. We had numerous compliments from our out-of-town guests about how unique and pretty the venue was. It also has a beautiful skyline view of the city! I loved being able to have the ceremony downstairs and just go up a few stairs to the reception. Our guests were beyond impressed. The staff were friendly and respectful, attentive and all around a pleasure to work with. City View Loft is an amazing new venue in Chicago's west loop. We photographed a wedding there back in April (as well as one in February at their second floor location, Kitchen) and the staff was absolutely fabulous. They were quick to respond to e-mails after our walk through and quick to respond the day of wedding. They were very attentive to the details and time line of the day. We just got home from Chicago, got married here at City View Loft last Friday! We are from San Diego and booked the venue site unseen.....couldn't have been happier! Working with Gabi was an absolute dream, and our guests are still texting us about the amazing food! We had family style dinner, and had no problems with the amount of food, or taste! Living across the country from the venue initially seemed really overwhelming, but Gabi answered every question promptly and our night was literally PERFECT! The only suggestion I have would be to create a nicer bar, for picture purposes, but you could easily use fabric or lighting to make the existing table fancier. We worked with Jamie and she was beyond wonderful. The entire planning process was easy and all our questions were answered right away. We were so impressed at our tasting. Everything was delicious. We had our wedding cermony and reception and City View Loft in March. We fell in love with the venue on our first visit . It is absolutely beautiful! From the first inquiry email all the way till the end I was impressed with their responsivness. It was great that whenever I had a question I knew I would get a thoughtful response quickly. Working with them throughout the planning procccess made the wedding planning process so easy. We worked with Gabi and she was amazing. She has clearly worked on a lot of weddings and her insight and opinions are so helpful! What I was most impressed with was their service on the actual wedding day. Gabi was there the day of to coordinate the set up of all of our vendors. Then during the ceremony Gabi was there to help the bridal party with the timing of them walking down the aisle. After the ceremony my husband and I went in the private room to sign the marriage certificate and the servers where in right away to give us Champagne and appetizers. My guests said they had wine in their hand within seconds of standing up. The service was top notch. The food and service during the reception was also amazing! We got lots of compliments. One small detail that really impressed me was - we had worked out with our florist that we would have the bridesmaids put their bouquets in vases on our head table to reduce the costs of flowers. When we sat down at the head table I realized I had forgot to tell the bridesmaids to bring their bouquets up. And though ohh shoot - nothing to do about that now - and literally one minute later Gabi was there with the bouquets that the bridesmaids had left downstairs putting them in the vases. From beginning to end working with City View Loft was nothing but the best. They offer great service, food, and a beautiful venue. I would recommend CVL to anyone. read more

My wife and I had our wedding reception at City View earlier this summer and we're so glad we found this place! Jamie was the best and super helpful throughout the entire process. The food, service and space all came out great the day of and we really couldn't have asked for anything more. Rates are very reasonable for a city wedding and we didn't have to cut any corners to make it all work. The space doesn't need a much but I would recommend uplighting which really looks good after sunset with all the candles and the city in the background. read more

First off, our wedding was beautiful. The space was unique and the food was delicious. That being said, everything leading up to the wedding as well as post wedding was and has been nothing short of a nightmare. Completely unprofessional, unresponsive to emails and phone calls, being shuffled from one contact to another, and HORRIBLE communication. By the time our wedding day arrived, we had absolutely no trust in City View and had to hire an outside coordinator for the day of to oversee the set up. After our wedding, my parents went to pick up our items and nothing was organized or ready for them. My mom had to go through boxes, climb ladders and go back several times to retrieve our items that they "couldn't find". Several items that were returned to us were broken. We are still missing multiple decorations and items and to no surprise, my emails and phone calls have not been responded to. All of this after taking the time to organize a detailed inventory list of each item we were bringing and confirming multiple times what the process was for picking up our items prior to the wedding. Run, don't walk away from this venue. Even though the space is beautiful, there are plenty of other places in the city that will be just as nice and the staff will actually treat you with respect and provide the customer service you deserve while planning a wedding. If I would have known the headache and amount of stress that this venue would create I would have never booked. I would never recommend them, and I am extremely disappointed. read more

We had our wedding at City View Loft just over two weeks ago and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. We chose City View not only because it's a chic urban loft with a stunning skyline view, but also because the contract included catering, furniture and other rentals, which made planning our wedding from Michigan much less of a hassle. Nicole was a pleasure to work with throughout the process, and we never had to wait long for her to answer questions we sent her way. We had no issues with set-up and everything ran very smoothly day-of. Our ceremony and cocktail hour took place downstairs in Kitchen Chicago and we moved upstairs for the reception. We brought in a few decorative accents (chalkboard signs, framed photos) -- but otherwise all the space needed was some greenery and candles to make it sparkle. None of our guests could stop talking about how good their meals were, and we loved that the space is BYO -- we worked with Binny's to design a drinks menu and the City View bartenders did a great job mixing our signature cocktails. There were a few small hiccups with service at dinner but nothing we wouldn't have expected given our experience as guests at other weddings. We had a magical day and highly recommend City View Loft and LM Catering! read more

We just had our wedding ceremony here and it was beautiful. Everyone commented on how unique the space was and wanted to know how we found it. Gabi was helpful from the moment I contacted her. They had the chairs (included with the space!!) and decor set up the night before the wedding which was wonderful. It's a simple space, so if you're looking for a formal grand venue for your wedding or event, this probably isn't for you. But it is modern, urban, and simple which is exactly what we wanted. The neighborhood it is in is industrial and not the prettiest, but there is free street parking so I feel that makes up for some outside lack of aesthetic appeal. We had our wedding here recently and the space is really cool. Very urban and industrial loft space with a great view of Chicago. We booked the space early so we got some deals on pricing and add-ons, so it was really reasonably priced - lower than most of the other venues we looked at in the city. The neighborhood isn't the nicest looking, but it's still close enough to downtown that it was a quick shuttle from our hotel. The service entrance to the building (and the entrance that you have to use to use the elevator) isn't the prettiest and the elevator is the slowest moving thing on earth, but I wasn't terribly bothered by that (although, it doesn't make the best first impression on any guests who can't take the stairs). We had Julia and Dan on their staff as our wedding planners and they were great. I cannot say enough great things about Julia, she was very responsive, very flexible, a calming presence in the midst of the craziness that a wedding can be, and very professional. I would highly recommend working with her. Dan was also super helpful and organized (he was my secondary contact, so I don't have too much to say, but together, they were a great team). We had our ceremony and cocktail hour in the Kitchen Chicago space and it was gorgeous! We also used Pure Kitchen Catering and they were great. The food was really outstanding. read more

I attended a Pure Kitchen Catering event here last month and was pretty impressed with this new loft-style space. The view of the city is great, the food is fantastic (they are the exclusive catering company), and the venue is reasonably priced (I looked into it as a wedding site). The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is the location is a little weird and we drove right by it because it is not very well marked. There is a very small lot and some street parking, which makes me wonder what it would be like as a guest for a wedding. read more

The most amazing wedding we ever could have dreamed of took place at Pure Kitchen and City View Loft! From the moment we saw City View Loft, we knew this would be a great space for us to get married. We loved the industrial, yet city feel of the building. The view of the city skyline was spectacular. The dance floor area, lighting, and chandeliers made the space sparkle during the night. We worked with Gabi and she was such a treat. She was so helpful to us-- no question was too small. Gabi put our worries and stresses at ease. Having some gluten and dairy intolerances, they sent us menu options free of both, which were amazing options. Wedding day was nothing short of spectacular. Everything set wonderfully for the ceremony and cocktail hour. The tables were set beautifully with centerpieces we had brought in and they arranged. Dinner service and quality was fantastic and delicious. The staff that was working our wedding was fantastic and so easy to work with the whole night through. We got married here in July. While we had an amazing day there were a few things that left me upset after. For starters, there definitely was not enough food to be passed around for the family style dining. Many of our guests did not get enough to eat. When asked for more, the guests were told no. Everyone at a table deserves to get a full meal and not go hungry. Second, they forgot to put down my runner and didn't put the candles in the raftors that we paid for. Thirdly, they did not pass out our cake so we spent over $1000 on a cake that only a few got to eat. Instead, they set pieces on a table in the corner that many didn't see and no announcement was made about it. Like I said before, we had an amazing day and our guests all loved the space and the city view cannot be beat. Just be sure to be very vocal about what you want, especially regarding the food quantity. read more

We got married at City View Loft in spring 2017 and overall, they were fantastic and our experience was very good. The space is gorgeous, doesn't need a ton of decor and the view is fantastic. Jamie was wonderful to work with and was so quick with her response and understanding of our questions. She was very helpful with everything along the way and made the whole process easier. The caterer is a separate company (Kitchen Chicago) but in a joined/connected space, and the food was amazing- our guests still talk about it! Our only hiccup with CVL/Kitchen Chicago is we were told shortly before our wedding that we could not use the venue where we were married for our rehearsal. This is, in the grand scheme of things, not the biggest problem we could have run into but we were told close to the wedding date after the invites were sent out and the way it was handled was not what we would have expected/hoped for a venue like this. When we asked the staff about this and requested to be able to hold the rehearsal in the venue, we were told that was a courtesy to us to do so and they were able to rent the space to others in the timeframe of our rehearsal. Overall, it was about the principle- people get to have their rehearsal in their ceremony space and we were paying customers and we were essentially told "The other party that wants to rent the space is more important than you" for that date/time when all we needed was 30 minutes to rehearse our wedding. We we very disappointed in the way we were treated/the way that was handled. Other than that, everything else with CVL was wonderful and we would absolutely get married there again in a heartbeat! read more

My husband and I just had our wedding at CVL on 10/27. The second we walked into City View, we knew it was the venue for us. The next 16 months of planning went off without a hitch due to the amazing communication with Jamie. She was our go-to for everything. My husband & I got married in March 2014 at Kitchen Chicago/City View Loft. This is a hard review to "rate" as we would give some aspects of the event 5 stars & others 0 stars. THE GOOD: The spaces are beautiful. They both offer a nice mix of raw industrial space with beautiful wood furniture (benches, tables, chairs, etc.). The cathedral ceilings in Kitchen Chicago are awesome & the skyline view from CVL really can't be beat. The ceremony & cocktail hour were held at Kitchen Chicago & the reception was held at CVL, one floor above. The transition of guests between spaces was flawless & the reveal of the skyline at dusk as they entered CVL was stunning. The food is delicious. The kohlrabi chimichurri appetizer was great during cocktail hour. We had the hay-roasted chicken & the roasted vegetable farro risotto with hazelnut gravy as our main courses. Many of our guests were vegetarian, including us, so we had a predominantly vegetarian menu. We received many compliments on the food & have heard from guests that the chicken was the best they've ever had. Dinner was served family style & there was plenty for everyone. The night-of wait staff was fantastic. They were friendly, attentive, & helpful all night. THE BAD: It mostly comes down to communication, or in this case, the horrible lack thereof. There isn't a formal brochure that details available options, rentals, add-ons, vendors, etc. In our experience this led to pricing & details that change in every email. For example, my husband & I, unknowingly both emailed inquiring about rates for an add-on & were given different prices for the same service, with no details as to what was included in the pricing. It's confusing & frustrating. You have to constantly stay on top of what they've told you & make sure it's actually what they end up charging. Without a brochure or itemized pricing, there is no way of knowing what CVL's mark-up is for outside vendor costs. We ended up going with one of their preferred dessert vendors, Black Dog Gelato. We were told that it didn't matter if we booked directly with BDG or if the booking went through CVL. CVL gave us a quote for one option with BDG. We emailed Joshua with a few questions & he never wrote back. After a week or so, we decided to contact BDG ourselves. We're so glad we did! They offer multiple serving options, # of flavors, hours of time & were significantly cheaper than what CVL quoted us.   Throughout the planning we would email bulleted lists of questions. When CVL got around to emailing back, they would only answer 1 or 2 of the questions, forcing us to re-mail for answers to the remaining questions. We paid in full up front & once we had done so there was little follow-up or initiative from them. It felt like they just washed their hands of us. Joshua emailed us at 9:30pm the night before our wedding to ask if we wanted the lights we had originally asked for or if they could comp us the chandeliers that were up from a previous event so they wouldn't have to take them down. Luckily, we both checked our email that night & replied to Joshua that we did want the lights we had requested when we signed our contract months before. Joshua emailed at 11pm to let us know that some of the original lights had been broken in a past event & if we went with what they had left it would be very dim. We expressed how unprofessional this was to let us know this at 11pm the night before our wedding, & by email no less. We asked them to find a solution that fit with what we originally asked for & gave off enough light so it wasn't a hazard for guests. CVL did come up with a good solution for the day of. But, this wasn't something we needed added to our plate the night before. On the wedding day, my bridesmaids' purses & mine were robbed of all cash while they were in the room we had been told we could safely keep our things. We realized this 5 minutes before we were to walk down the aisle. Joshua assured us they would file an insurance claim & reimburse us for what was stolen & that there was a locked room we could have used instead. I'm not sure why the locked room wasn't suggested to us before the robbery? We quickly put it out of our minds & enjoyed our wedding. We assumed that CVL would contact us first thing Monday to go over next steps to make the theft right with us. They weren't. We had to do all of the follow-up, as it was clear that it wasn't an important issue to resolve for them. We'd get emails saying they were still playing phone-tag with the ins. company weeks after our wedding. Ultimately, they did reimburse us. A wedding isn't cheap. And we expected a certain amount of professionalism & organization from our venue. Unfortunately, our experience with CVL was drastically lacking in both. Fortunately, the day of was gorgeous & smooth (minus the robbery) & no guests knew of any of the issues we had with the planning. I recently got married at CityView Loft and as someone who has been in and attended a ton of weddings, and my husband who is in hospitality, we had super high expectations and we were extremely happy with our experience at CityView. The staff, especially Gabi - she was nothing short of incredible - the vendors they recommended, the communication, the incredible value (tables and chairs, hello!) and professionalism every step of the way was wonderful. the staff at Pure Kitchen and CityView (we used both spaces) rolled with every punch, made fantastic suggestions and really made the entire experience wonderful. We had our wedding at City View Loft last Friday and we cannot stop talking about how it was the most amazing day! We had signed our contract with City View well over a year ago and we had the catering company turnover which ended up being a seamless transition and probably for the better because we then got to work with Gabi who was just wonderful. She was so nice and very responsive providing us with suggestions on space layout and day of timing. We got married in Kitchen Chicago with the reception in City View. Both venues looked stunning and we had so many compliments on the space as well as the food. It was just a perfect day and we cannot thank Gabi and the Kitchen Chicago/City View Loft/ and LM Catering teams enough! I highly recommend this venue to anyone!!! read more

The Chicago Walk to End Alzheimer's Planning Committee held their Champions Club reception at City View Loft in June and it was such an amazing night! The staff members were so friendly and helpful and whatever we needed, they were there to accommodate! Working closely with a non-profit who doesn't necessarily have a ton of experience with coordinating every detail of an event, Julia, Dan and their team made sure to make it a stress-free process.
