We used Borges for sewer line replacement. Our interior…read morecast iron line was beginning to leak. A crack developed - and then we saw a leak bleeding thru the foundation wall. The cast iron was 130 years old and had clearly outlived its expected lifespan (75 years for cast iron). We decided to have the sewer line replaced on our schedule rather than when it completely failed. One of our neighbors just had their sewer line replaced by Borges and recommended them, so we chose Borges for the work - and were we glad we did. The owner came out and supervised the job, and the crew completed everything in one day. He replaced about 8' of interior cast iron, then thru the rubble foundation wall and another 10 feet, thru an old septic pit, and then connected to the clay pipe. He fully inspected (along with the city inspector) and determined that the old clay pipe was in perfect shape - saving me THOUSANDS of dollars. His crew was amazing - and left the interior and exterior in better shape than it was before. I highly recommend Borges for any sewer line work!!

He was a pleasure to work with, and explained the options clearly at various decision-points. He and his team did the job in one very long day, including digging up the sidewalk and street, and repaving them nicely. We explored the possibility of replacing the pipe or lining the existing pipe and ultimately we all agreed it was better to replace it, given how much digging was required. He showed up for one day of work, during which his machine broke down, and he completed only about 25% of the removal job(have not started on stump grinding yet). He then pressured my elderly parents, who are both in their eighties and suffer from Alzheimer's, into paying him $2,000. They are not in a condition to handle high-pressure situations, and I was not present at the time. Given that $2,000 significantly exceeded the value of the work completed, the contractor happily chose not to return and instead began making a series of excuses. At one point, he offered to refund $1,000, but when I tried to collect the refund, he changed his story again saying he will come back to finish but stopped responding to me. It appears he does not keep his words, lie consistently, and is willing to take advantage of vulnerable people whenever the opportunity arises.

It's wasn't inexpensive, but I think the rate is reasonable for weekend service. I think I would've paid just about anything anyway. It was a nasty mess...
