We used Borges for sewer line replacement. Our interior cast iron line was beginning to leak. A crack developed - and then we saw a leak bleeding thru the foundation wall. The cast iron was 130 years old and had clearly outlived its expected lifespan (75 years for cast iron). We decided to have the sewer line replaced on our schedule rather than when it completely failed. One of our neighbors just had their sewer line replaced by Borges and recommended them, so we chose Borges for the work - and were we glad we did. The owner came out and supervised the job, and the crew completed everything in one day. He replaced about 8' of interior cast iron, then thru the rubble foundation wall and another 10 feet, thru an old septic pit, and then connected to the clay pipe. He fully inspected (along with the city inspector) and determined that the old clay pipe was in perfect shape - saving me THOUSANDS of dollars. We hired Borges Sewer & Drain at the recommendation of several neighbors who had had him fix the same broken, 100+ year-old sewer pipes that we needed fixed. They said he did great work and was professional, communicative and fairly priced. All that turned out to be absolutely true! He was a pleasure to work with, and explained the options clearly at various decision-points. He and his team did the job in one very long day, including digging up the sidewalk and street, and repaving them nicely. We explored the possibility of replacing the pipe or lining the existing pipe and ultimately we all agreed it was better to replace it, given how much digging was required. The fact that Borges is able to excavate and do sewer pipe liners is a major plus. We are so glad we went with Borge's and happy to have this done, after 20 years of flooded basements. I live in Waltham. I got their information from the city of Waltham's list of Approved Contractors. I called Borges Sewer and Drain Cleaning on a Friday and made an appointment with them to come out to my property IN WALTHAM the following Tuesday. Did I mention I live in Waltham already? Just making sure... They were supposed to arrive at my property in Waltham between 8am-8:30am. 9am rolls around and nobody has arrived, so I call the office. I was then informed that: A. They aren't coming today B. They don't service Waltham What??? Why couldn't they have told me this on the phone on Friday?? And also, were they ever going to call me to let me know they don't service Waltham and aren't coming today? This company isn't serious and their time is way more valuable than yours. I was referred to Borges Sewer by both my plumber and a friend who used them. I send a message through their website. I was told that someone would come down to look at my pipe. Nobody showed. Sent another message was told again that someone would be by. Nobody showed. I messaged them again against my better judgement but my friend who used them convinced me to. They said that they had been busy with jobs but someone would come by. Nobody called or showed up. Thank God I have my mother at home because if I had to take three different days off of work it would have been a complete waste of my time. Obviously this place does not need my business. The work was done very satisfactorily despite some unforeseen issues that had to be addressed by the city that delayed the process. However, I didn't appreciate Steven Borges' unbelievably rude and disrespectful interactions with me especially when I had always spoken to him in a very civil manner despite his obnoxious attempts to provoke me with ridiculous, baseless insults & taunts. I feel certain that if I were a man--or had had a male partner with me--he would have behaved very differently. The sewer pipes in my 125 year old house were showing their age and started causing issues. We were referred to Borges by a local plumber. So we called and they came out quickly. They used a video camera to diagnose the problem and even provided a copy of the video. This service cost $400 and were told to expect a quote for lining the pipes to prevent roots from getting into the pipes. After a couple of weeks and numerous calls, texts and emails we have received no response. Clearly they didn't want the job but they should have been courteous enough to let us know. We called another company and they came out the same day. They also used a camera to view the pipes at no cost and we received a quote the next day. In 2021 we had just moved into our nearly 100 year old home. It had had a sole occupant for many years and when our family of 5 moved in the old sewer line just couldn't take it. We had a blockage almost immediately. I don't remember how we came across Borges, but after calling them they showed up later that day, diagnosed the issue (we needed a line replacement from the house to the street) and got right to work. We had a functional sewer in a days time, which, after moving 1300 miles, was a relief. We had other things to worry about and Borges made sure our sewer wasn't one of them. Fast forward to 2024, our sewer line backs up. We call Borges, they manage to get to us within a few hours after calling, run the camera down and see that tree roots had infiltrated the remained small section of old cast iron and caused a blockage. The rotored the pipe, getting things flowing again, cleaned up the mess and told me it was free of charge! Now, in the future we may have another blockage due to the roots (fingers crossed it's awhile yet) and that's when we'll have the Borges team back out to replace what's left of the cast iron. We had very low water pressure. As in, run the shower OR the kitchen sink, b/c both wouldn't work at the same time. Three plumbers told me there was little I could do. The water at the street level had low-pressure b/c of new condos in the neighborhood. They suggested aerators, which didn't work. Someone recommended Borges Sewer and Drain. The whole Borges team is excellent, first job they came out to do for me was with Steven and a two men crew and they worked with our timing and did a phenomenal job. The whole crew was great and respectful. We discovered another problem with the sewer line further down (with the camera) and it turned out this problem was connected with 2 other neighbors. This time an even larger crew came out (while it rained the whole time). They broke up the road, fixed everything, repaired it all, plus fix the road well within one day. I was faced with a real disaster when the drain pipe running to the sewer had a blockage in the middle of a frozen winter. RotoRooter was no help. Drain Doctor got the process started and then recommended Borges for the heavy lifting. A three foot hole had to be excavated in the basement, the faulty pipe (it was a collapsed house drain) removed and a new, straight pipe installed. They did a video inspection to make sure there were no further problems down the line to the sewer. Cleanup and disinfection was also required. The sewer drain line from my house to the street was clogged and had overflowed multiple times. I contracted Borges, who quoted $12,000 for a 1-day job without assurance that he could solve the problem in 1 day because of the unknowns, and the disclaimer that it could cost more, demanding a 50% deposit upfront. Notwithstanding the steep price tag and unreasonable terms, I accepted and signed the Borges contract due to the pressure I felt having a clogged drain line that Drain Doctor had failed to unclog the day before. The next day I sent Borges an email with a list of questions alerting him to read it by TXT MSG, and when Borges finally called me, he not only had not read my email but was unwilling to take the time to do so, declaring "I don't have the time to read emails!" My insistence that he read my email led Borges to declare that he no longer wanted to do my job, accusing me of changing the contract as a result of the questions I was asking! When I reminded him that he had signed a contract, he replied "Read it closely; it is only an 'Estimate,' not a contract." I insisted in him honoring his contract; he consulted his attorney and notified me that his attorney advised to him that my email "invalidated the contract." Steven Borges was rude and used intimidating language -- in short, he behaved as a bully -- further telling me that from the moment he met me he was apprehensive of taking me as a customer because I am an engineer and "engineers believe they know everything." In the end, I was glad Borges withdrew from the job as I lost complete confidence in my ability to work with him, essential in a job with so much uncertainty. My advice: AVOID BORGES!! There are many other reputable drain layers. I ended up hiring E. B. Rotundi. The reason I selected E. B. Rotondi is that Mike Rotondi, who runs the company, presented a clear, no-nonsense approach to the solution of the problem without resorting to hyperbole or pressure tactics. Mike was the only contractor to present a quote with a clear disclosure of the unknowns that made a fixed-price quote unsound. In a nutshell Mike's quote was: * My charge will be $4250 for the Day-1, and $4000 each day thereafter; * the job may take me 1 day, more likely 2 days, and possibly 3 days; * I don't know what it will take to solve your drain problem, but I will solve it. Mike finished the job in a single (long) day, charging me a little over $5000 for the additional hours the Rotondi crew took to complete the job. I am not just a completely satisfied Rotondi customer, but feel especially fortunate for having selected Rotondi. I am grateful to Mike Rotondi and his crew for having solved my problem the way they did. read more

Had a great experience with Borges, who was referred by Prospect Hill Plumbing due to the nature of our issue. We had an open drain pipe that wasn't properly capped off and was partially in the flooring, which was serving as an entrance for rodents and an unpleasant odor (beyond usual 'musty basement' smell). Every call I've placed with Steven was returned within 15 minutes of any message left. When I called initially, he was able to come by the same day to have a look, assess the problem, and provide an estimate. Additionally, found out that work prior owners got done in connecting the washer to the drain line, someone used a toilet flange for the connection (I had thought it looked strange). They showed up well within the window of time they gave, and were done in less than two hours (may have even been barely an hour). The fix included checking the pipe via camera to ensure the pipes were clear, and they also took the time to point out which direction the pipe feeds, so that we're aware of how it connects to the main line. Would absolutely recommend, and will definitely use again if we need similar services in the future. As a bonus, our washer is now properly hooked up to the drain pipe, minus the toilet flange, and I have yet another story to share with people about the quirks we've found while doing home maintenance. read more

Borges was great when they worked on the sewer line for my house. First they had come by after all the poop water backed into my basement and snaked the line. Bunch of hair and towels and whatnot... thought the problem was solved but a week later it backed up again and they snaked again. After the THIRD time this happened they ran a camera through and saw that the line had separated and there were many cracks in the clay. Guess it's time to replace the sewer line... oh the joys of home ownership. This house had already been a headache for me so that's what I expected more of but Borges was fantastic. They already mentioned the sewer line needed work and recommended that the water line be replaced as well (not in an upselling way) because it was lead (it's an old ass house, okay) and the ground would already be dug up. They arranged everything with the city of Medford and was in the ground doing their half within a week. They took out any headaches with logistics that I would have. Excellent service yesterday by Borges Sewer and Drain. We had a broken sewer line, called for a few quotes, Borges was highly recommended locally and also submitted the lowest estimate. The estimate included a detailed description of what would be done, which was far more inclusive than the one other written estimate we received, and the Borges team followed thru on every detail. I much appreciated that the Borges team found a way to reroute the sewer line exit from our house which allowed the concrete steps to the front porch to be left in place; removing them would have been a huge job. The team moved the large plants I was not able to myself and replanted them when finished. The estimator noted that the shut-off valve to the water line in our basement had seized, so of course I asked them to add replacement of that valve while they were working in the basement to access the sewer line. After years of procrastination, we replaced almost 70' of a disintegrated sewer line under a narrow driveway with a rock ledge. There were tons of issues, i.e. like our sewer line went under a wall and part of our water line was lead but ultimately they resolved everything and saved us money. We needed to replace our old clay sewer line from the front yard to the main in the street, about 6' below grade. (Tree roots, ARGH.) We got quotes from a number of companies, and ended up with the Borges - partly because their price was competitive, partly because of their reputation, and partly because they seemed eminently comfortable with this type of job ("We do this every day"). Other places gave us numbers which didn't include the cost of permits or the required police detail (a per-day cost), but the Borges gave us an "everything included" number up-front. They didn't provide a full written contract until we decided to go with them, but were extremely reasonable about making a few additions before signing. (Specifying a 'will be completed by' date, and that there'd be no damage to our adjoining walk / stairs, for instance.) While they had the trench open, they noted that our water service was old/original, and offered to replace it for an additional cost that was extremely competitive. (Some of our bids had included "...and if you want to replace the water line too, here's what it'll cost" numbers, so we had an idea of fair pricing, and it was something we'd been thinking of doing anyhow.) Even with this additional work, they got pretty much the entire job done in a single day. (They repaved the street cutout and patched around the water-service in our foundation the next day, but that's it - everything else was one day only.) It was clear that they did this sort of thing all the time. The entire time, they were courteous and polite. Mr. Borges didn't seem to want to shake my hand when I was thanking him at the end of the day, but that may have just been that he'd been working and hadn't had a chance to wash up. I certainly hope I didn't offend him, because they did great work for us! (Oh, and did I mention that the yard is still flat? They dug a 6+ foot deep trench in it, making an 8+ foot mountain of dirt on our front yard, and managed to restore it to being pretty much flat, with grass poking up through where the mountain used to be. The town tech took one look and said you better replace this ASAP, and his foreman agreed. Borges came highly recommended, I called the next morning and had a callback after lunch and an inspection scheduled for first thing Friday, the next day. Steve came out first thing Friday, gave me the lowdown and price estimate, no run-around. Borges managed to fit my job in the following Thursday morning. The service pipe and shutoff were in real tough shape, i.e. very corroded. We were lucky. They replaced the service and were finished by noon. I live in a house that is over a 100 years old, and needed the Drain Doctor approximately every six -nine months, the last five years. This expense and work for seniors was unacceptable any longer. The service rep suggested I call John Borges, Sewer & Drain Cleaning. Steven Borges came out promptly following my call, and I was given an estimate to replace the clay waste pipe and traps which were determined to be too old, rotted, and filled with tree roots. Within 48 hours, Steven was here with three men, cellar area around the pipe trenched, old, damaged traps removed, camera inserted into the old clay pipe to view how bad the situation was. It was bad!!!!! The cellar area was further trenched, old traps removed, new waste pipe laid, trenched area filled, and cemented, all in five hours. Now the house waste water can drain properly with new pipes that are four inches wide v. an old broken pipe with only an inch of space for waste to pass through, due to tree roots, and old traps. Steven and his men cleaned up nicely after the cement was laid. Price was right for the work done with little extras, and the good work of three men, who didn't even take a lunch break! I cannot recommend this company more highly. Our toilet started glugging when the bathtub was drained, then part of the first floor flooded (the area around the drain with the lowest elevation). The plumber said we needed a drain person, the drain person couldn't find the problem using the camera on the end of the snake gizmo. 5 people then suggested we contact Borges. Borges knew immediately what the problem was - our house had a "house trap" that had completely clogged. They came, jack hammered up the basement, dug up the old clay pipes all the way to the sewer (all cracked), including the completely impacted house trap, replaced the clay pipes with the correct plastic ones, filled everything back in, repaired the basement, the sidewalk, and the street, cleaned up, ALL IN A SINGLE DAY for an extremely reasonable price. Our next door neighbor hired them on the spot to fix their pipe problems (two sinkholes!) and they did that entire job in a single day.
