    Grilled shrimp stir-fry with rice

We went back to Highmarks for a late lunch. I ordered grilled shrimp stir-fry and Hubby got pork chops and rice with salad. My meal was excellent. Hubby used my stir-fry sauce on his chops and really liked it better. Good place to eat!

We had an excellent meal Thursday night at CJ's. My chopped steak was loaded with mushrooms and so tasty. My wife enjoyed her fish dinner and everyone else around the table was very satisfied. Excellent service! I recommend it.

We came here for my husbands grandmas birthday. We had a larger party so we got the banquet/party room to ourselves. The restaurant was clean and waitstaff was friendly. Orders all came out correctly and wasn't a long wait. I ordered the flatbread and it was just okay. I thought the crust was too moist and mushy. My husband loovvveeeddd the Cobb salad though. Whenever we come here, he always orders that and he's never been disappointed! It's a good, safe order :)

Food was exceptional for the area - and I can't overstate how nice it is to see a place like this thriving. There were, however, a number of elementary culinary errors. The most glaring were that both steaks, and prime rib, at the table were significantly overcooked, and everything was underseasoned across the board. The quality of meat, and the char on it, were SOLID. Even the sauces were good, but underseasoned. The whole table was a pinch of salt away from excellent, but I recognize that a small town Ohio clientele is going to expect overcooked steaks and salt at the table... At any rate, I'll be back, I'll order my steak even rarer, and I'll sneak a pocket full of maldon in with me, like the bougie Dale Gribble I am.

We had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer (very good) and the sauce had a nice kick. We both had apple cider manhattans which was a sweet twist to a Manhattan. The apple cider adds a sweet touch. Our mains were the same. We both had Millie's Cut with mashed reds and an extra side order of Brussels sprouts. He ordered the shrimp & crab cream sauce on the side, and it was rich and flavorful. He shared it with me. Having it on the side seemed like a healthier option. Also worth noting is the lemon vinaigrette salad dressing which was delicious. Our server was kind and attentive. We'll definitely be back.

There's a…read morediner menu letter board up on the wall, yellow with age, announcing the flavors of milkshakes and ice cream. It's from the 60s and probably hasn't changed since they put it up 65 years ago. There's a whiteboard on the back wall with the special for the day written out. Bacon egg and cheese omelette or a sausage egg and cheese sandwich on toast. Five dollars. The kind of place with a few locals sitting at a booth having their morning coffee, one of the waitresses offering Jim the last donut because they know he will want it. He accepts it. This is, in my mind, a classic American small town diner. The kind of place I grew up, eating in my hometown of 500 people. It's not high cuisine, there's nothing fancy about the food although I did come across a few things I had never seen before on the menu. Fried mush. Meat grits specials, like the scuttle butt and the chili Bob. An age old, but perfected recipe of eggs, meat, cheese, and a starch either potatoes ( homefries) or toast. The coffee is weak and not much flavor to it but, to be honest, it's exactly what you would expect in a place like this and there's something comforting about that. Honest, simple food made day and a day out, catering to the local crowd and a few roadway, travelers like myself who happen to come across it. There's a certain charm and depth to places like this that have been lived in day and day out by the same people for decades. For those like up rounded, there's the nostalgia and connection to the many other people having the same experience day after day in communities across the United States. Forgive me if I wax nostalgia can get a little sentimental here, but this morning's dining experience definitely elicited that for me. I hope you can find your own version of this sometime today or in the near future.
