This is a good meal to have if you are on Lake St. Mary's and want something quick to eat. It's nothing special, but it is good bar food. I personally wasn't hungry and ordered off of the kids menu and the serving size was big enough for me. Overall it was a good meal and our waitress was young and attentive. read more

7 pc "JUMBO" wings for $14. They are the tiniest wings I've ever seen. Also they are very dry. Pizza was wet and soggy and tasteless. Had to add a lot of salt to taste anything. Won't be eating here ever again. Super disappointing for the insane prices. read more

For my 1300th review, I was to talk about the amazing experience my family and I had at Boardwalk Grill! We came to Boardwalk Grill on our second foray into Celina. Although reviews on yelp are mixed, I heard great thing from several people I know about this place. They were right, yelp was wrong. Let's talk first about the ambience and decor of the place. Its welcoming, laid back, very cool kinda place. Totally captures that wonderful vibes of a great lakeside/beachside bar. Its right in front of Grand Lake, and you get this great breeze. There seating inside and up on top... but you get a good breeze regardless. The staff is friendly, helpful, engaged, and hey have hustle. We had no wait to be seated and our waitress got our drinks order immediately. Just an example of engagement, when I ordered the Nutrl Classic Lemonade Vodka Seltzer, she asked if I would tell her how it was as she would like to know for future customer recommendations. I had never had it, and it was crisp and refreshing! Perfect for a hot summer day! I did tell her that. My mom got a pina colada, my brother was the only one who did not get an adult beverage, he got a soda. She absolutely loved the pina colada, by the way. Ordering our apps was a little more difficult, only because there were so many great choices! We got the crispy garlic shrimp, and the shrimp was fresh and flavorful! While we munched on those delectable shrimp, we made our orders for our main courses. My mom ordered some chicken tenders and fries, my brother ordered the boardwalk burger and fries and I ordered the brisket smash burger. Per the menu, "the brisket smash burger is an angus beef burger and angus smoked brisket piled high with a rich white American cheese and grilled onions, and special sauce on a grilled white bread." I got mine without the onions. My brother and mother loved their food. I had a piece of the chicken tenders, I think they are some of the most delicious tenders I've ever had! The brisket burger, thats special! The brisket was tender, the burger was cooked to perfection, even the bread was buttery and crunchy... just a perfect dish! This was our second time in two days dining here, the first day being a 3 star at best experience but we chalked it up to it being crowded and thought we would go for brunch when they opened and try it again. They open at 11. we were the first ones there and placed our order, 40 minutes go by and no food although other people are now getting their food. They have an open kitchen and you can see they hire teens to young 20s for kitchen staff and they're picking food off plates with their bare hands and eating it, tossing fries and eating those, touching their hair putting their hands back in food, on their phones putting hands back in food etc. again all with their bare hands. We then flagged our server down ( who was also in the back eating with them at one point) and asked is that our food as it's been sitting for a while and they were touching it with their bare hands and picking food out of it she goes yes it is. We asked her if we could speak to a manager and she never got one. She told the kitchen staff (who are her friends) to put gloves on. The kitchen member put gloves on and then made faces at us. We ended up leaving, never speaking to a manager or getting food not that we would have wanted it. We would never eat here again. It's fine to listen to music and have a drink but truly would avoid the food at all cost. We were tempted to call the health department - if that's what you can see through a kitchen window and the staff is doing that in front of patrons what are they doing where you can't see them? read more

While servers were friendly and helpful, the food was mediocre. Entrees were not served at same time such that some had finished before others were served. Burgers were best; fish and chips were overcooked; subs were unremarkable. Pretzel nubs and nachos were tasty. The ONLY thing going for this place is vibe. the food is below average, and that's if you actually get it (let alone being able to order). My wife and I sat at the bar for 20 minutes without being helped (bartender and other servers walking back and forth). I could go on and on regarding sub-standard service, but I think all get the picture. If you want great service, food, and atmosphere I recommend 202 Tavern or Brew Nation just down the road. Boardwalk Grille has a rude staff and is extremely unaccommodating. Have never had a good experience there and I feel sorry for the people who rent the luxury apartments and have to deal with things of this nature. Took a chance on Boardwalk Grill for dinner mainly because it was close to our hotel and who doesn't love eating by the lake? It offers open-air seating with an excellent view of Grand Lake. The place was hopping on a holiday weekend and the wait staff kept pace. Husband and I both had the fish tacos. The fish pieces were battered and fried. Tasty and would order again. Overall a great dinner and will return if we're ever in that area again. read more

Rode bikes with some family up from Coldwater for a nice Friday lunch. We were seated quickly but were surprised by how full it already was so soon after opening - we took this as a good sign. Service was predictably slow, seems like the natural consequence of so much square footage and so few servers. Still, when servers did come by they were friendly, direct, and accommodating. I ordered the shrimp po boy, a dish that came out looking a little slight, but with the sauce and corn relish filled out well. The shrimp was tender, if a little unremarkable. But as a whole the sandwich was pretty tasty. The whole group agreed the fries, cut in tasty spiral shape, were the surprise star. All in all, a decent spot. read more

This place has continued to get better every season until this season with the addition of the tent that doesn't allow you to enjoy summer to the fullest. It blocks the view of the sky and the tugboat and really takes away from the vibe. Double thumbs down for the tent. read more

Great place for and easy lunch or an amazing dinner. We sat upstairs for the live music which was really good. There a second bar up there so there was great service for drinks. The food came very quickly and it was a few stars higher than normal bar and grill. It was fantastic. I can't wait until the summer when this restaurant will explode into a fine dining, great bar, live band, patio hangout nirvana. Don't forget it overlooks the lake and the boats. Quick to get seated and get appetizers. Went downhill from there. Sat and waited for an hour to get our order to the table. Was not busy at the time either. Our waitress went past our table several times without stopping to check on us. She had plenty of time to stand by the bar and talk tho. Finally got our food from another waitress. Wow! I can't believe they charge 17$ for a burger the size of a sausage patty. All our burgers were way over done to the point of being hard. The Boardwalk Grill is a local Cinderella story of epic proportions. They have drawn a line in the sand and set the bar for all other lake restaurants to aspire to. The location has always been full of untapped potential considering it's prime two story panoramic lake views and ample boat-in parking. Their indoor renovations have made the space highly functional and centered around the garage door style windows facing the lake. The decor has also undergone an upgrade akin to a "Jimmy Buffet on the Lake" vibe. The menu is also a step up from just the typical lake sandwich/pizza joint and the fish tacos are KILLER! They also have HAPPY HOUR specials on both drinks and appetizers. I stopped in there on Saturday at noon with my 12 yr old granddaughter for a special lunch by the lake. We were seated, only about 3-4 other tables were occupied. Two groups came after we were seated and after several attempts to make eye contact with wait staff and 20 minutes later, we finally gave up and left. No one even asked for our drink order. Father's Day Sunday and the place was packed. Hostess told us we're looking at a 2 hr. wait. So my daughter and I found 2 seats at the bar and settled in. Barmaid promptly took our drink orders and gave us menus. Had the artichoke dip for an appetizer. It came out hot and fresh. It was good, not outstanding, but good. No complaints. Daughter had the loaded nachos and I had the Reuben with sidewinder fries and slaw. Both entrees were good. The nachos were enough for 2 people to share. Both interior and exterior look excellent, employees were friendly and took care of us with food and beer, and they sure do bring in a crowd every weekend when they have a band playing on the outdoor stage. This place visibly followed very few guidelines in terms of masking, social distancing, and basic restaurant health rules. Neither the employees or manager wore masks, the tables were very close together, and their new hire stuck his fingers on our drinks when we asked for straws. Straws were not supposed to already be in the drinks when they were brought out, as we saw with other parties. Immediately after he brought us straws and stuck them in our drinks manually, he restocked ketchup using a nasty large container. Covid or not, that's unacceptable. We spoke with the owner/manager and he told us our waiter was brand new, but that's not excusable. We were met with a full price check at the end of our meal. Do not come here if you expect a place to follow the health guidelines. Expect to get sick. read more

Stopped in with my husband for a bite to eat Saturday afternoon and I was surprised. It was fantastic. Not a large menu but there is something for everyone and it catered to a variety of tastes. We had an open window seat by the water and the band was playing in the background. Wonderful decor. Accessible by boat as well with docks out front. We will be back. read more

This is the place I had my first date with my now wife and 11 years later we always enjoy our visit to boardwalk... however this time it was way different times have changed and I get that but with high prices you can't sacrifice quality. We ordered a Mega bloody $20 it was just a basic Bloody Mary topped with fries, they hit the floor on the way to the table! We got fresh promptly but wow way over priced for around here when you can go to moose get for $4.50 basically the same thing! We ordered the lobster shrimp roll and I have to say not only did it have zero taste and was served iced cold but it was $27 on its own if you add fries at $5 that puts you at $32 for the worst lobster roll and most expensive I've had! I'm very sad that our community has turned into a tourist attraction with tourist prices. People say support local but not when your getting poor quality service at extreme prices. Skip the hype lots of local spots with better food, better prices and better service! read more

One positive is the atmosphere as it's open and has a nice view of the lake. The staff were courteous and hustling around trying to keep up. However, we were placed on a wait list for a table in front section and after 45 minutes asked the hostess how much longer. Hostess told us the owner was switching people around instead of taking them in order and she didn't know how much longer, but we could go to the back section where there were open tables and we could order pizza or wings. We did that. Purchased a mushroom and pepperoni pizza from the bartender. Gave us a pager. After 45 minutes we asked about our pizza and the cook said he was backed up and hadn't made it yet. At the hour mark we asked for our money back and the pizza was brought to us at the bar. Average looking pizza you would make for your kids when in a hurry. Premade crust, canned mushrooms etc...The toppings fell off the crust which was saturated with pizza sauce. The bartender comped the pizza with manager approval since we had waited an hour. So many mixed emotions about this joint. i will preface this by saying I am from out of state and was visiting with my sister and a friend. First impression was not good- the guy that was at the host stand was wearing sunglasses and didn't seem to care if we were there or not. It took a minute for our server to appear. When she did, I asked what kind of vodka they had. Her response was, "I'll go get the bartender to answer your questions." With that, we decided to sit at the bar instead. The bar area is super cute and the music was on point for the atmosphere (think Marley, 311, etc.). Our bartender, Jen, was *super* friendly and helpful although not very well versed in bartending (her own admission). My sister ordered a chicken quesadilla and it was delicious. I later decided I needed a bite so I ordered the fried fish tacos, at the urging of Christian, who was awesome. I warned him that I am extremely picky about my fish tacos and he assured me they would be in my top 3. So I placed my order along with rice and beans. The flavor of the fish tacos was great...the rest, not so much. The taco was super soggy due to the wet coleslaw they placed on top of it. The beans were...just gross. The rice was wet. Christian immediately checked in with me when my order came out and comped my meal as soon as he saw my response to the food. Later in the evening, Ben joined Jen at the bar. He was awesome. It was later evident that our original server was in training. She could not have been more disinterested in learning her job but did an outstanding job of standing around and checking her phone. Later still, the owner of the place showed up for a bit and we talked with him. He let us know that they had only been open for about a month or so and were still ironing out some things, which is to be expected. He seemed cool enough at first but later after watching him speak with Bartender Jen, he seemed cocky and rude to the service staff. Not cool. All of this said- with some tweaking, this place could be awesome. The view is outstanding. The majority of the staff were fantastic (shout out to Jen, Ben, and Christian!). The food is good....depending entirely on what you choose. I'm from out of state but will definitely consider visiting the bar area or outside patio again. Cheers! read more
