I travel a fair amount for work and anywhere I go I seek out Jamaican food. Having been born in Kingston my family has roots going back to my grandparents landing there before 1900. There is an old phrase that you can find a Jamaican just about anywhere you go. Well Chef James is the real deal. I had the pleasure of my first lunch and then dinner(I had to bring take-out for my family) just yesterday. Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken and Rice & Peas - these are the main dishes for a Jamaican like Pas Thai is to Thai food, he got d'them bang on! Don't let the location fool you. This is the real deal. I may have to make the 1-1/2 hr drive from the South Bay more often! Oh, the portions are very generous too! See you soon Chef James!!!

Hands down best restaurant in Stockton. Everytime I go here it never disappoints, and I always enjoy the food. Quality is really good as everything from the meats, rice, mac and cheese/casserole is piping hot, and I like how new items come out too like the pulled pork. My favorite is the jerk chicken, as it's juicy and savory with a good kick. Ribs are literally fall of the bone tender, and would recommend getting any meat with a cheesy side of potato casserole or Mac and cheese. Service is really nice too as CJ and the workers there are super friendly, loving and willing to go the extra mile in service for anyone. Top tier restaurant in Stockton and would 100/10 recommend.

Found out about CJs through Grubhub, and their food was so good we had to go check them out in person. This was the first time I've actually been to their location, so I was a bit surprised to see that CJs is in the Lighthouse of the Valley Church, but it definitely shouldn't be a deterrent for anyone. They had signs and arrows to show you where to go and order in person, making it as easy to order just like any other restaurant. Our order consisted of the Jerk Chicken Quesadilla, The Ya Mon combo (2meat, 2sides) with the Curry Chicken, Ribs, Potato Casserole, and Mac N Cheese; we also got a Ting Soda (grapefruit flavored) and a Ginger Pineapple Soda. All of the food we got was delicious, and the staff were very kind and informative. The Curry Chicken was an instant favorite with it's explosion of flavor; one of the better curries we've ever had. The Ribs were literally falling off the bone and melted in your mouth! They weren't too sweet or smokey, but you will need at least two napkins when eating them! The Jerk Quesadilla was the textbook definition of munchie food! It was spicy, cheesy, and flavorful. The sides were just as good as the main dishes with the Mac N Cheese being rich while the Potato Casserole reminded me of a Baked Potato made into a casserole. Overall, CJs is a local and unique experience that I think many would enjoy. You really can't go wrong with anything you order since it all comes out tasting delicious. I can't wait to go back and get more!

Wow... I literally ordered a plate at 11:30am from doordash because it was the first restaurant to pop up and it looked delicious. I'm about 4 bites into my food and I had to stop and write a review of how AMAZING everything is. I haven't raved about new food or new places in a long time and to have something that I've never had and be pleased by it is honestly really exciting. There were a few different options to choose from but I went with what looked more popular which was a plate of spicy jerk chicken, BBQ ribs, mac n cheese, and loaded potato casserole. I threw in a meat patty just because I like appetizers. Everything is so flavorful and the meat is beyond tender. The meat patty is like a puff pastry empanada stuffed with season meat. Everything has just been 10/10 and I'm so very excited to try out what else they have in the near future!

If I could give this spot 10 stars, I would. The picture posted is not the before picture. This is the after picture of two people and a dog eating this bomb ass food!! I walked in to pick up a DoorDash order and the son of CJ offered to give me a sample of food. He came out with a plate of food to sample the teriyaki chicken, jerk chicken, rice & beans, Mac n cheese, and loaded potato casserole. Everything was amazing, fresh, and hella good!! As soon as I finished delivery my doordash orders, I came right back to get a plate to share with my boyfriend for lunch. The sons and CJ greeted me as soon as I walked back in and were like "hey you're back" which surprised me and made me so happy too! I love their customer service. So friendly and thoughtful! Once I came home, I fixed a plate for my boyfriend and after devouring his plate, agreed that this was some bomb ass food! I will for sure become a regular customer and will be recommending this place to everyone I know! It's perfectly priced for the amount of food you will get! Don't miss out and be sure to put your order in Monday-Wednesday! This spot is gonna put Stockton on the map. I'm excited to see how they grow over the next year :)

I purchased a meal, Jamaican patties with loaded potatoes, 7 up cake ending with a Jamaican pineapple ginger drink. I picked up my meal to take home and I thought I could make it into my home to sit down and eat but....I didn't make it out of my car before I devoured this delicious and fulfilling meal. What joyfully, memorable food experience. Thank you Cj's Jamaican Kitchen.

The establishment had snacks, drinks, clothes, fresh ginger, frozen fresh fish, oils, ice cream, soaps...you name it! They had it! When it was time to order, I told them I was skeptical of the goat and was thinking about passing on the chicken this time. BUT he insisted...and when he showed me the chicken, it looked and smelled amazing!!! So I said what the heck! The vegan oxtail, which they make in-house, is my absolute favorite. The plate comes with rice and peas, salad, and plantains. If they have vegan Jamaican Patties available I always get some of those as well (pro tip: they reheat well). Sadly, those veggie-stuffed pastries are frequently sold out, so if you see them get them! When cold weather comes around, I'm all about the Ital soup. It's so simple and flavorful. If I feel a cold coming on this soup is one of my favorite remedies. With authentic flavors and food items, there's not many like it around town. Bodega serves up food from the Caribbean Islands. One of their most popular dishes is their jerk chicken. They have this both as a chicken wing appetizer and as a plated dinner. I personally really enjoy white meat when it comes to chicken and the dinner plate was leg and thigh so I opted to go with the wing appetizer. My only complaint about it was its size. I thought it could have had more wings as I thoroughly enjoyed each one with the jerk sauce I added to it. The wings were very crisp on the outside and full of flavor. Adding the jerk sauce or their house made hot sauces enhanced the flavor even more. I could really see myself coming just for these wings! I also had the Cubano sandwich. This hot, pressed sandwich has ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard. It's a popular item that also is bursting with flavor. The combination of all the ingredients was mouthwatering. It comes with a side of fries to round out the meal. Service at Bodega was very nice. We found the servers to be very patient with us and the food came out reasonably. I was specifically there for a birthday party where we had cake being served from outside the restaurant. Bodega has a cake cutting charge, but seeing our tiny cake they waived it for us! Jerk ribs - SO DAMN GOOD!!! Great flavor, fall off the bone, I could easily eat more of that. Don't skip it! Pepper shrimp - eh, it was ok I think. My daughter wanted that so I only had one piece of shrimp mixed with some other things on my own plate. I do think there was only maybe 5-6 shrimps. I also ordered a beef patty and an oxtail patty but I haven't eaten them yet. Looking forward to it though. Also, the plates came with cabbage. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be cooked, I've seen that and that's what I expected. But what was on the plate was dry bagged salad like you get from the produce section to make Cole slaw. There was no sauce and it was uncooked. Not sure about that. I ordered online so I didn't really get "service" but the woman at the register was kind and had a warm smile.
