    Lobster Corndog
    Karen S.

Came here for my sister's birthday with reservations. Reservations highly recommended. The drinks were 10/10. Empanadas was pricey for how many/what you get: 7/10 Oxtails: 10/10 nice flavor Jerk Chicken10/10, not pictured but that was devoured Lobster corndog: my brother ordered because he could, yeah save your money lol Really enjoyed the food, price is higher but not surprising due to the location. However, I'm not sure if I'd be back because the service was not the best. The servers seemed disinterest in us compared to other tables. We had a mix up with the drinks, I asked the server to replace with the correct one. But he awkwardly smiled and said he couldn't.

My girls and I made a reservation for mothers day weekend and was happy that we did! The restaurant is nicely decorated and is perfect for a girls outing or dinner date. Our server was extremely helpful and friendly. We ordered the - seasoned fries (so good & perfect for sharing!!! must get 10/10) - beef empanadas (also very delicious 10/10) - octopus salad (very acidic, barely any octopus :/ 5/10) - jerk salmon bowl (very delicious 9/10) - jerk chicken bowl (my friend ordered this and I tried a piece of chicken, very yummy as well and they give you a good amount of chicken) Overall, we had a wonderful time eating here!

Solid 5/5. Place is absolutely amazing. There are not that many Caribbean/ Trinidad food restaurants in the Bay Area. You have to be on top of your game to stay in business especially in Walnut Creek where there is an abundance of cuisines. The prices here are kinda expensive for the oxtail and steak dishes and others it's not super expensive. There is metered parking and a garage real close by. The menu is wonderful and unique and lets you get out of your food comfort zone to try new things the full bar and open kitchen just adds to the ambiance. Location is on point , not too noisy either to you can hear everyone in your immediate table. Caribbean music and outside seating is another plus . Great place For work meeting or small celebration gatherings like birthdays or graduations. Easy to book a reservation via OpenTable app.

Finally checked this spot off my list! It's been on there for a while, but reservations are hard to snag. We ordered the Mangonada Margarita, black pepper shrimp, and pork belly bao. Presentation across the board was a solid 10/10 everything looked incredible coming out! Flavor-wise, the margarita definitely delivered and was the standout for me. The black pepper shrimp leaned a bit too salty for my taste, and the pork belly bao was unfortunately a little on the dry side. Overall, still glad I went! I'd come back to give the lobster corn dog a try next time.

Pretty solid spot, besides the ceviche! Their entrees here are pretty good, but ceviche was meh. Their meats are very good and are all very juicy and well seasoned. Ceviche was lackluster, which was sad bc I was really looking forward to it! Service was okay--we had a large party so we weren't sure how much to order. We consulted the server and she kept insisting we order more and more even though we kept asking if it was too much. When the food came out we were flabbergasted by how much food it was. Thankfully the food was yummy, but we felt misled to over order. Ambiance was chic and vibey. Slightly on the louder side

My best friend and I came here for Happy Hour and we were very excited to try Lita as we have wanted to come here for quite a while. We decided to order Tostones, Scallion Pancake, and the Pork Belly Bao off the happy hour menu. The tostones were not tostones... it was a purple potato and the flavor just wasn't that great. The scallion pancake had a strong vinegar flavor and came with 2 sauces (we think it was a soy sauce vinegar flavored and a jerk aioli). We love traditional scallion pancakes and were looking forward to this but we were just not wowed. The pork belly bao was the best item we got. Had great flavor, but there seemed to be jerk aioli under the bao bun which made it soggy and was a big downside. Aside from food we also ordered 2 drinks. The weekly bartender special and the white peach sangria. The bartender special was just a drink of your choice. They didnt have any special that week. The sangria was extremely coconutty, it reminded me of Malibu. Staff were nice but the server we had it felt like when we asked questions he was lowkey putting down the restaurant and what the items were. It was just off putting when we were asking for more details on what the food was on the menu. Overall the place is cute, but we would be hesitant to come back. And if we come back we would not reorder anything that we tried.

Perfect spot for our girl's bday lunch! Lush tropical classy interior, yummy Caribbean grub, strong cocktails, friendly quick service in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek. We had a cute side table with a nice view of the resto and everything we ordered came out beautifully plated. Really loved the plates, colors, garnishes! A lot of F's fit the eats and drinks vibe- fresh, fun, flavorful, fiery. I'd recommend all of the savory things we ordered: - Sangria Lita - Ceviche trio with yucca chips -Salted cod fritters -Jerk chicken (has a light kick) with rice and peas and Platanos maduros -Side of oxtail We got the pineapple upside down cake for dessert and although nicely plated, it was a tad too sweet for us. Our server Trevor was a gem- he was super accommodating and promptly met our requested time limit. I'd definitely come back try the rest of the menu!

Made reservations here for party of 3 to celebrate brother's birthday. Restaurant gets booked pretty fast so lock in while you still are ahead. Seated at a table by the window. The restaurant is small but has a very lively vibe to it. We had two different servers and as we explored the menu we were given great suggestions. Wish there were more options added for shareables. The house chips were good just very overpowering with the seasoning, tasted like Tajin seasoning. The shrimp was very nice and fresh and the empanadas were a must! The veggie empanadas werent really as great unless youre a veggie person. The shrimp curry pasta was delicious and would definitely order again! It took some time to wave our server down to get assistance. The place can get really loud and we had a party of 4 next to us that were extremely loud but hey thats what you expect in a lively well known place. For Dessert, highly recommend the fresh donut holes which is amazing! Second server brought in coconut ice-cream that was complimentary for my brothers birthday. Bathroom personally threw me off. There was what seems to be a sink mirror in the mens restroom but was taped off or tinted black. It almost as seemed like it was those two way mirrors where they can see you from the other side. If you are planning to go on a date or even a boys night out this is a great place to come to. If they had upstairs seating that wouldve been awesome.

Every time I come here, it reminds me of an upscale club...but without the dance floor and DJ. Not sure if it's the interior decor or their super strong drinks. It was my 4th time dining here and I guess you can call me one of their regular customers. I ordered the braised oxtails and chicken empanadas this time around. The oxtails were super tender and the chicken empanadas were amazing. Big kudos to the waitress working tonight. She provided exceptional service given that she was the only one serving all the customers (at least that's what it looked like tonight). Surprisingly, it wasn't busy tonight vs other nights. I guess Tuesday nights are the best time to dine-in.

This is a super cute spot with wonderful service and yummy food! We tried the ceviche trio with yuca and chile lime chips, jerk chicken family platter with rice and plantains, and the chocolate passionfruit cake. We also got the sangria, milk punch, and rye tai. Everything was really good and worth trying. Ceviche was super fresh and the variety of flavors was appreciated. Their guava kampachi was our favorite! Jerk chicken was tender but I wish there was more seasoning. The sides sizes are a little small compared to the entree quantity. The chocolate passionfruit cake was by far one of the best desserts I've had. If you're a fan of super dense chocolatey desserts, you'll love this. The sesame caramel adds a nice crunch and passionfruit cuts through the chocolate perfectly.

I really wanted to love this place. While it was not quite love, I did enjoy it. The servers were kind, helpful, and friendly. They offered thoughtful descriptions of the menu items, and one even took the time to help us figure out how to use Boomerang. The food itself was mediocre. I opted for a cup of tea since I was feeling under the weather, while my three girlfriends each ordered cocktails, which they seemed to enjoy. Overall, it was nice to try.

Check Please Bay Area put Lita on my radar and with the exception of the curry goat, went with some of the crowd pleasers mentioned on the episode. Coconut curry chicken empanadas, salt cod fritters, and guava kampachi ceviche (adding the yucca chips) to start, followed by the tender braised oxtail and curry goat with mofongo. The empanadas and salt cod fritters were both very rich so I could've made a meal out of the apps while the guava kampachi ceviche was light and refreshing and my favorite dish of the night. It would've been nice if a portion of yucca chips for the ceviche was included with the order instead of an additional purchase. The goat was spicier than I expected so I did not eat much of that which meant more tender oxtail for me. Good sized portion that gave me leftovers for the next day.

Anyways I find this business practice repulsive and will not be returning. I hope this review gets views and reconsider patronizing at this establishment. Huge thumbs down. They don't seem to value customers. I called them after finding out they did me dirty overcharging me. The employee told me the owner/management was out of town. I reached out to them on instagram in attempt to inform ownership/management of what is happening. The person responding on instagram told me they are out of town. I never got a follow up from them. Who knows if they actually investigated what happened because I didn't get a follow up. I could care less about the extra few dollars they took. If they have an employee intentionally overcharging then they need to correct it. It's simple as that. All the info is in the photo I included in the review if they choose to investigate.

As I entered, I eyed Cholita Linda, and since we had already eaten at the place near us, I knew what we wanted and would enjoy for our late lunch or early dinner... a Cubano! For those who might not know, a traditional Cubano sandwich is made with Cuban bread (a white bread loaf with a thin, crispy crust and a soft, airy inside. Usually, a moist palmetto leaf is placed on top of the dough before baking to create its signature split), Mojo-marinated roasted pork (slow-roasted in a marinade made of sour orange juice, garlic, oregano, and cumin), glazed ham (sweet, deli-style sliced ham), Swiss cheese, dill pickles, and yellow mustard. Of course, here in the US, the recipe is adjusted based on the location and available ingredients, but the core stays the same, which makes for a delicious sandwich. Cholita Linda's Cubano is made with pulled pork shoulder, black forest ham, mustard, pickles, aioli, and Swiss cheese on grilled French bread. Trust me when I tell you that it is a delicious version! Anyway, this location is very well managed and maintained. The staff are friendly and the place is clean and nicely kept. They have tables inside and outside the mall. On a warm day, you might prefer to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air while you eat.

Located in a strip mall with a large grocery store and other establishments, parking was a bit tough around lunchtime but spaces were available. The second I walked in I could clearly see that this was a local hotspot, drawing in a crowd of area residents, locals, and professionals. Almost every table was occupied on a Friday around noon. The large cheese quesadilla was fantastic! It came in four huge, cheesy portions (served on a paper plate with foil) and was definitely among the best I've had in while. In addition to that, I ordered their carne asada and fish super burrito, super wet vegetarian burrito, side of chips and guac. The prices here are very reasonable! I asked the cashier whether to order the shrimp or the fish, and their recommendation to get the fish was a good call! The fish burrito was generously filled (see the cross-section photo!), and I especially appreciated the sour cream. Simply delicious! The carne asada burrito was equally excellent. The meat had a wonderful charred flavor. We loved the cheesy sauce on our wet burrito. I may have to get that next time with the fish burrito. Don't forget to order a side of guac, it was $6 for 8oz. The guac was fresh, chunky, and had an abundance of cilantro which we love. There's also a self-serve salsa bar with Salsa verde, mild, and medium salsas along with pickled vegetables, limes, etc. The cashier who took our order was friendly and incredibly welcoming. When I mentioned it was my first visit, she was genuinely appreciative of our business. I noticed there was no tipping option available on the electronic payment screen during my transaction. Fortunately, I had cash on hand and was able to leave a tip in the jar.

We also got the appetizer with the chips, zucchini, arugula, and cheese and that ended up being one of my favorite dishes. Everything paired together really well and had a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy. I also tried the mango margarita with tajín on the rim and really liked it because it wasn't overly sweet. Super refreshing and balanced. The Dude ordered the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and really enjoyed those as well. Customer service was also really good. They checked on us periodically throughout the meal and everyone was friendly and attentive without hovering. Overall the restaurant felt clean, relaxed, and comfortable. Definitely a spot we would come back to again. Especially a lot of vegetarian options ! Vegetarian approved!!!

There's a ton of seating inside, and everything is very spacious. Though, I do have to say it always feels incredibly empty for some reason and there's never anybody actually inside outside of a few tables, but they do have tons of takeout so perhaps that's the tradeoff. However, don't let the lack of eating patrons inside the place put you off. This taqueria offers a good variety of different options as any taqueria would offer, and many of the options have pictures and stuff with it. The service here is, kind of hit or miss. The people in the front usually aren't overly friendly, and will sometimes feel like they're just there until the clock turns work over. Sometimes they're bordering on rude as they just kind of give you an indifferent stare as you're ordering, or will just feel as if they're half listening and not even looking up. The service was a bit better when I dined in, so perhaps maybe it's just the takeout, although it's usually the same person for both. Price wise, it's certainly not going to be cheap. If you want the best bang for your buck around here, El Aguila probably won't be it as there's a plethora of taquerias in this area. Food quality wise, it's pretty good overall. There are some tasty dishes here that will certainly warrant the little bit of extra cost here compared to other places. Things that I have tried here are the burritos and the torta. The burritos here are yummy as they they will have ingredients inside the burrito that is slightly different than your cookie cutter burrito at any other place. It really does help adds layers of flavor to it that other places do not offer. However, the best part of it is indeed the fact they grill the outside of the burrito to get that nice flakiness that wrap, and makes it a oh so rewarding experience. Meat portions was okay, but wish it had more especially for the cost. The torta I got was pretty good, as the ingredients inside were pretty typical so nothing really stood out. The break was toasted well, but I do wish it was a bit softer as it may have been to toasted. Should be toasted outside and soft inside, but this one just felt toasted all over. The meat portion also suffers from the same issue as the burrito as that it's not as generous as it could be. However, the flavors and taste were fine. It's certainly a nice place for those who want a bit of a different style of their Mexican cuisine. They have some flavors here that will be atypical of most of the cookie cutter taquerias around. While they are a bit expensive comparatively, the portions are actually decent (minus the meats). You can certainly be filled with just a single burrito. Worth a visit.
