The location is easy to find. The building looks nice from the outside. When I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the front desk. Its a nice open floor plan. I checked in and filled out my health questionnaire. My appointment started on time. I was at ease right away with my hygienist, Brooke. She was very nice and was easy to talk to. She really had her work cut out for her since it had been a minute since I had an appointment. She listened to me when I had questions about my appointment and played along with me when I let her pick the flavor to use to clean my teeth. My dentist, Dr Erickson, came in and was very kind as well. I really appreciated the time they spent with me. I am happy with the move I made to the new dentist. I hope to have the same great experience going forward. As a bonus as I was getting ready to leave. I looked out the back window and a herd of city deer came up and were wandering the yard. They said they are there often and its a nice little perk.

I am not complaining about this bill - okay, I got the service so I would pay them, even though neither I was told at that time of service. But with concerning about too much dental cost I paid this year for my children, I asked them for a pre-estimation for one of my kids upcoming treatment so I can better know how much I would pay for the service. The receptionist refused to submit any pre-estimation because she doesn't know what exactly my daughter would get for her next appointment. Well, she had an appointment in two weeks and they better know what kind of service they would provide with. I worked at an insurance company before, and majority of dental offices submit pre-estimation for themselves and customers for better idea how much would be paid by insurance and would be patient's responsibility. It is a simple paper work any dental provider can provide to their customer because they know the service codes and their service fees that we don't know in advance. She finally said I may pay around $400 if my insurance doesn't pay any, and I need figure it out my responsibility on my own. I was not treated well and had to seek other medical attention from another doctor for the intense paralyzed feeling in my jaw. I believe that he did quite a bit of nerve damage for an extraction that was NOT necessary. I was sketched out by the way they do not fully explain how much procedures cost and how insurance covered. I don't think that Botox should be used by a dentist to treat headaches, but that was offered to me. I don't like hearing that my sons braces will cost this much but a friend was offered a steep discount because he's just starting to provide the options of braces. A pretty facade is all this place is and I just paid the bill to match it.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened with this Oral Surgeon's office. Let me be clear: the quality of the surgical procedure itself was excellent. The clinical care deserves recognition. The issue is not the surgeon's skill, nor even the total price charged--despite the fact that their pricing is roughly 200% above insurance norms based on MetLife's nationwide averages. The issue is how their insurance claim representative handled our case, and the complete lack of accountability from the Office Manager, Justine. Prior to the procedure, we were told our responsibility would be the $1,500 down payment, with a possible additional 10% due to being out-of-network. My wife even called to confirm this information to ensure we understood our financial obligation. At no point were we informed that we could be responsible for 80% of the total bill. We fully understand that estimates are estimates--but there is a significant difference between minor variance and a massive financial discrepancy caused by administrative negligence. The core problem: proper prior authorization was never fully obtained from MetLife. It appears the office simply confirmed that we had insurance coverage rather than securing detailed authorization and benefit breakdowns. Had this been handled correctly, one of two things would have happened: We would have been clearly informed of the true out-of-pocket cost and could have planned accordingly or delayed treatment until the following year to leverage our HSA benefits; or MetLife may have authorized a greater portion based on their average nationwide reimbursement standards (they pay 60% of their determined allowable amount). Instead, we were blindsided after the procedure was completed. When I contacted the office for assistance, there was no ownership of the mistake. No meaningful advocacy on our behalf. No attempt to escalate with the carrier. The only solution offered was a payment plan--along with subtle implications that we should have ensured pre-authorization was completed before choosing their practice. That response is unacceptable. Patients rely on medical offices to handle insurance verification and authorization correctly. That is part of the administrative service they provide. What is most disappointing is the complete absence of empathy or accountability. The apology felt rehearsed and routine, not reflective of any genuine concern for the financial hardship created by their internal oversight. Again, the surgical care was good. Had we been properly informed upfront that we would owe the full balance--or even 30% more than what we had already paid--we would have made an informed decision without complaint. Paying for quality care is not the issue. Transparency, due diligence, and patient advocacy are. This experience reflects a serious breakdown in administrative responsibility. Patients deserve better financial transparency and far greater accountability from a medical office entrusted with both their health and their financial well-being.

Unfortunately, the tooth needed to be extracted, and it was by far the most painful extraction I've ever experienced. I've had other teeth extracted before, so I understand the difference between normal pressure and actual pain. I told Dr. Wiese several times that I was in pain, and I was in tears during the procedure, but no additional anesthetic was offered. I left feeling that my pain was not taken seriously. I was also disappointed that my prescription had not been sent to the pharmacy by 4:00 p.m. When I called, I was told their computer system had been down and that my prescription had been forgotten when the system came back online. While I appreciate being seen on short notice, the painful procedure and the lack of follow-through with my prescription left me with little confidence in the care I received. I will not be returning.
