With her seven years of experience, I could tell my newborn was in good hands right away. Her patience and ability to work with newborn babies is truly a talent! Prior to meeting, I had communicated with Michelle on Yelp and inquired her different packages, then signed a contract and paid a $50 deposit. Everything was pretty smooth and easy. The three packages are on her website, either basic, signature, or premium, and we went with the middle package - the signature, which was perfect for us. The middle package had 4 poses, swaddled, family included, and we received 50 photos! Fast forward to photoshoot morning - we followed directions to have baby fed and changed into a diaper by the time of her arrival. My son was 13 days old when she took photos in our home. She came with her props, accessories, and baskets all prepared! Michelle also brought a sound machine that had white noise playing to soothe the baby. She swaddled my son and every photo pose/ setup increased in difficulty but she was really patient and worked with my son who almost was so fussy he'd wake! I enjoyed that she brought different colors for swaddles and blankets and various types of hats for us to choose from. Furthermore, if you're like me and your home is a mess, don't worry! I am really really glad we went the newborn photoshoot way. We scheduled the photoshoot for our baby, a couple weeks before my baby was due. Michelle recommends that we do the newborn photoshoot within 2 weeks of baby's birth if possible or a maximum 6 weeks from birth. Our baby girl was just a few days shy of the 2 week mark on the day of the photoshoot. The first couple weeks were challenging with no help from anyone during COVID and having another sibling as well and we thought it's not going to be possible to continue with the photoshoot. But, am glad we didn't reschedule or cancel. This was one fantastic experience with a spectacular outcome. Michelle has a number of props, you can look at her newborn portfolio to ask her to bring specific items that may catch your fancy. She helps design the various photos. But, best part is the way she handles the baby, she was just phenomenal. Our baby was a bit fussy on the day, Michelle handled her like a pro. Michelle is soft, kind and gentle and very steady with the baby. It's magic to watch her. Her patience is commendable. She also has a baby shusher that she uses to calm baby down. I was on the fence about doing newborn photography, given the current Covid situation. I am so glad I found Michelle! After doing some research, I came upon her Yelp page and read all the fabulous reviews and decided to reach out to her. She was very quick in her response and I felt so comfortable with just the online interactions with her, I booked her right away and I knew it was a great choice. My son was born a week early, so I reached out to Michelle to move up the session and was able to do so with no problem. She's so flexible and that made it that much easier to work with. For those wondering, she does get routine Covid testing, which gave me peace of mind. Prior to the session, I did communicate with her the desired shots/outfits I wanted based on what I saw on her website and on Yelp. That way, she was able to ensure she brought those outfits. The day of, she arrived right on time, had all the props with her, had her mask on. She does ask that anyone around during the session also wears a mask, which is understandable. We were able to take our masks off during the family photo portion. Now the best part--Michelle is a pro at handling newborns. She asked a few questions to better understand my son's sleeping habits, from the length of naps he takes, how he responds to sound and so forth. She had a shushing machine with her that she used to keep him calm/quiet and we also had a small space heater to keep him warm, since some of the photos required that he be more on the bare side. Michelle was so meticulous in handling our son, even down to correcting his finger positioning to ensure the right pose! My husband and I watched in awe at the way she was handling him, with such patience and care. We felt completely comfortable with our 2 week old baby in her hands. Again, I cannot say enough about the session and how well it went. We received the photos back within a week, in digital format and were over the moon! The pics all looked amazing and I already have ordered a phonebook using the pics. We're so happy with all the pictures and so glad I booked this session. The newborn stage is such a small window, don't miss the opportunity to capture the precious moments. I also do highly recommend booking close to your delivery date. A few days after our session, my son's face did start breaking out, which is normal for newborns.
