We were passing through town on our honeymoon, and our engine started to growl on the exhale, and then we started leaking antifreeze in a gas station parking lot. A man directed us to Claire's, and we headed right over. It was 8:15am. He told us to pull the car in, and in 15 minutes the problem had been solved, and we were on our way before 9. What really impressed me the most was the honesty and kindness of Claire and his crew. We were in the perfect position to be taken advantage of -- passing through town, mechanically inept, desperate to get on with our honeymoon -- but I don't believe that thought ever crossed their mind. They took fantastic care of us, identifying a very simple problem, and fixing it and it alone. Thanks, guys! read more

Great Shop! My 06 Chevy Silverado had a coolant leak. We are from out of town and were towing a trailer, trying to beat a storm. Most of the shops we called were booked up a week out, Called Claire's we were told to get it there right away, if possible, they fixed it in record time and for a great price. we did the 800 miles without a problem. thanks again!! BEWARE OF THIS SHOP!!!! This man has no integrity at all. I brought my car in there because it was having issues shifting. Before I brought it in there I had narrowed the problem down to two things. I took him for a drive in the car showing him what was going on. I told him what I thought it was. I told him to please call and let me know how much I was looking at for cost before he did anything to it. Later that evening, Claire calls me and tells me what the problem was (exactly what I thought it was). He told me it would be 150 dollars to fix my car. I asked him if that was parts and labor out the door. He said yes. I asked my wife and she said to go ahead. The next day, I receive a call that my car was done and ready to pick up. I asked if it was still 150 dollars. The lady told me it was $390 dollars. WHAT?!?! I tried to get him to lower the price because he had told me that it was going to be 150, but he wouldn't budge. The really bad thing about all of this is that I could have literally done this myself for 50 dollars. I will never take my vehicle to this place and I would recommend that you don't either. He will tell you that it will cost a certain amount and then charge 260 percent of what he quoted you!!!! read more

They can be a little slow, but it's only because they get so busy. I had to leave alaska on a emergency trip to New Mexico because a family member was only given weeks to live. I had to make the last Ferry south so I did not have time to replace my front shocks in desperate need of repair. Our car limped in Ontario on a 100 degree day with an overheating engine. I frantically searched Online for a place to do a quick check on our car before completing the remaining 60 miles of our journey. The team at Claire's was extremely understanding, did a quick check of our car, and we were on our way in less than 30 minutes. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Claire's during a stressful travel situation. We were able to get our car fixed later and Claire's assessment was 100% correct regarding our issue. My husband was traveling from Springfield, OR to Paul, ID when the transmission on his truck began having troubles. I did a frantic Google, but the two automotive shops (Maggards and Reds) I found were closing up for the day AND the weekend. They were kind enough to recommend Claire's though -- especially since they're open until 6 p.m. Claire's stayed open past their closing time and did their best to revive the truck. Although the truck didn't make it much past the outskirts of town, we honestly feel the mechanic and staff at Claire's did all they could and we appreciate what they did for my husband. DO NOT USE THIS AUTO REPAIR!!! I am a woman, 62 years old and on a fixed income. I took my car in early June, 2018, for a thumping noise and other minor service needs. They were not done with it for nearly two months! I believe they simply put me on the back burner while they fixed other customers cars they deemed more urgent. I paid $436.00 on June 22, 2018, and an additional $222.00 more approximately two weeks later, and the car was still not fixed. I asked how much more they felt it was going to cost, and they gave me an estimate of $600 additional. This was way over what I was planning on spending and what I had budgeted for, but I felt if they actually got it repaired and running well, $1260 was worth the investment. I was missing a lot of work during this period because of not having a vehicle, and this also added to the financial cost. I finally went to pick up my car today, and they wanted an additional $1,600 not $600. The wife would not work with me AT ALL on the payment, even though I had paid them every dime they had asked from me. I was prepared for the addtional $600, BUT NOT FOR AN ADDITIONAL $1,600!!!! When I finally got my car out, the problem WAS NOT EVEN FIXED!!!! IT STILL DOES THE THUMPING THING THAT I TOOK IT IN FOR!!!! I FEEL TOTALLY ROBBED AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF, & I AM CONSULTING A LAWYER TO FIND OUT MY RIGHTS! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS SHOP!!! THEY WILL ROB YOU BLIND!! read more

July 3rd, 2015 - My kids and I were on a long road trip from Seattle and my car broke down just outside of Ontario. It was 104 degrees outside and 4:50 on a Thursday before the holiday weekend. I frantically searched my phone for a repair shop and came upon Claires. Even though it was the end of the work day and the shop was slammed (due to the holiday weekend), they towed my car and had it fixed (fuel pump) by 3 the next day! The owner showed up in his tow truck within 15 minutes of my call.....he was friendly, knowledgeable and fast. Thank you, Claires, for fixing my car so we could get to my family reunion on time!! Claire is totally awesome. We were going to see my daughter and spent hours on the highway very stressful to say the least. Then along came Claire to the rescue. :) what a blessing he was towed the car where we needed to be not only that fixed my car that day with out charging us a arm and a leg. Not only did he fix the damage from me hitting a rock he also fixed an oil leak we have had ever since we bought the car at a very reasonable price. :) If any one needs someone to fix their car in Ontario, Oregon I would highly recommend Claire. If there were negative stars, I would give Claire's Automotive a negative star. I had one of the worst repair work on my truck done at this shop and the customer service was horrible. Parts were overpriced and it took foerever to get our truck back, which did not run correctly at all. If you want your vehicle repaired right and back in a timely manner, do not bring it to Claire's Automotive! This was a very expensive and frustrating experience for me. read more

I would never ever recommend Claire's to any one! Two weeks ago we had our car taken into their shop because we hit some ice and damaged the right tire area to the car. After 10 days a new axle, a control arm and $400 later we got our car back (in the mean time my mom was missing her cancer treatments and they new that but still took their time). When I drove the car the next day on the freeway I started to hear a loud thumping sound, but was told by Claire that I needed an alignment so I thought that was the problem. Well later that week I took on into les Schwab and they informed me that it was a very bad wheel barring and that they put a bad one back on the car there was no way they didn't see it. So I took it in today and was told by Darline Claire's wife that she drove it and it was fine before I picked it up, even though the check in and check out mileage was exactly the same. The topper is they want to now charge me another $400 to fix the car again! I went directly to another shop showed them my paper work and they said no doubt I was being scammed and anyone who has worked on cars for a living would have seen these problems and they are known for doing this anyways! Just know if you take your car there you will be paying outrageous labor prices and will be back again to get more work done. These people are who give others a bad name and some day by doing this will get someone hurt or killed. read more
