Had my vehicle towed here. I had to get a ride back home. Turns out I was out of gas , was one the problems. They literally called me to say I have to bring them gas...... I live 30 mins out of town and had to ask for a ride. My fuel sending unit was out and they also said I should just replace the pump. I told them that I wasn't going to replace the whole pump at the moment just so my gas gauge will work. When in reality all I need to do is keep track of my fuel mileage. Not really happy with my services. Will not be returning. read more

My mother (who is 80 yrs) called for a tune up quote on a 2000 Dodge pickup. They quoted $285. When we picked up the vehicle, much to my surprise, all they did was change the spark plugs! Nothing else. I asked why didn't they do a tune up as requested. Their response was "a tune is much more". That's was the reason we took the truck in is for our quoted tune up. So it costed us $285 to change 6 spark plugs. Hell I could of done that myself. Way to take advantage of the elderly Dowdy's! I'll be sure to spread the word! Your the worst. It never feels good to leave a bad review... but I feel it is my duty to inform any potential customers about the negligent and incompetent staff at Dowdy's. I am new to this town, and have had a minor oil leak in my Subaru Forester for a few months. After getting the oil successfully changed at Dowdy's on two occasions, I trusted the mechanics to repair the leak and restore my car to proper working condition. I was assured that this was a simple task and I felt comfortable allowing the work to be done. The job was completed on schedule... but within 24 hours and less than 30 miles traveled, my car was leaking more oil than ever before! Warranty in hand, I immediately brought my car back to the shop. The next morning, after the mechanics got a second look, they concluded that perhaps they had installed faulty parts ("that happens sometimes," they said) and so they would reorder them and install them the following day. One day later, around the time I was expecting the new repair to be completed, Dowdy's called and bluntly informed me that I would likely need a new transmission and that they could no longer honor the warranty because my car had a different unidentifiable problem bursting seals and causing the oil to leak. Also, they warned, I should not drive the vehicle on the highway as it was now too dangerous to operate. Feeling dismissed and taken advantage of, and now driving an unsafe vehicle, I had no choice but to bring my car elsewhere for a second opinion. This second mechanic immediately determined that, in fact, there was nothing the matter with my transmission at all. He found that the seals installed by Dowdy's had been put in too deep, A NEGLIGENT and INCOMPETENT error... one that was immediately noticeable and reparable. I hope this warning will be valuable for anyone considering mechanical repairs at Dowdy's. These mechanics had two opportunities to perform this simple repair and it was demonstrably beyond their expertise. Save yourself some time, money, and stress - and go elsewhere. read more

Dowdy's did a bumper to bumper inspection for me on a F-350 diesel I was wanting to buy from Ontario Auto Ranch next door. They gave me a good report on the truck. Had lost the coolant, and had it towed in to Dowdy's . They did a inspection and gave me a estimate to do the repairs with parts and labor. I felt the estimate was higher than it should be , but i gave them the ok for the repairs. I'm happy with the work that was done. but there is some things that cause me some concern. that i will think twice about if i will go back again. 1. was told 1 part was a dealer item only $267. found the same part at a parts store for under $150. 2 . I ask them to save the parts, when i came to pick it up I was told they didn't remember that. looked in a couple of garbage and said it was in the dumpster. 3. I paid for the repairs, got in my vehicle and noticed the oil was still in my car . That they were supposed to change , but didn't and charged me for. had to wait for them to change the oil. 4. When I got home and looked under the hood I noticed they had spilled some oil on panel under the wiper blades. Should I take my vehicle there again ? good question. read more
