Please ensure that you review any sales agreement carefully. When speaking to sales, I indicated that I would like to negotiate a lower interest rate. He had to speak to management first, then great news we have approved a 3.99% rate for you. Went through the remainder of the sales process. I had to ask for a copy of my sales receipt, this was not given freely. When I reviewed it, they had added $2,300 to the cost of the car to "buy down" the interest rate. Instead of telling me the interest rate comes from head office and is not negotiable, they tried to hide it in the purchase agreement and clearly they don't like customers reviewing the invoice too closely. I cancelled the sale, got my deposit back and went to a different dealership. I think I should have read the reviews before I started there, this seems to be common practice at Clarington Hyundai. Recently purchased the 2025 palisade from this dealership. I purchased a BRAND NEW vehicle and yet the seat came damaged. I told them while purchasing and they said they would replace it. They did.. WITH ANOTHER DAMAGED SEAT. When I showed them the damaged prior to leaving the dealership they said "we don't have enough palisade seats on site to replace it so go through Hyundai Canada". Also, somehow they are selling brand new cars without the mats because Hyundai apparently sends them separately. So what am I supposed to use in the meantime when my kids are going to drag in mud and dirt from all the rain and winter like conditions we are having in April. I can't even return the car apparently because I would have loved to go to another dealer at this point. ABSOLUTELY the worst car experience I've EVER had. Would not recommend. Take your money elsewhere. I bet Honda or Toyota which are on the same street would not treat their customers like this. They ruined the entire experience of buying a new car. read more

Add to that an unfathomable way of calculation HST which included paying HST on the air conditioning tax...a tax upon a tax. I know this is going to sound like one of those stories that the author embellishes to try and gather attention to themselves, but I assure you this is completely true. I took my wife's Santa Fe into the Clarington Hyundai dealership so that they could perform a safety recall on the vehicle. Since the vehicle was in the service department I asked them to diagnose exhaust leak for an estimate. I had previously diagnosed the problem to be a gasket that was leaking due to corroded studs. The gasket online costs about $12.50. so I expected a repair bill of approximately $100. After the recall was completed the technician proceeded to tell me that the vehicle required a new second catalytic converter costing over $2,300. I repaired the exhaust system myself and the whole process took less than half an hour. And cost less than $20. Clarington Hyundai you should be ashamed of yourselves. After discussing this with my wife she stated that she wouldn't have known any better and would have authorized the $2300 repair. Not this time Clarington Hyundai. For shame, ripping people off like that. read more

Wouldn't buy again from this dealership with a sales representative like this. Bought a brand new 2022 Santa Fe, but was missing the cargo area cover on delivery. I was assured by my sales representative and the sales manager, that it would be shipped the following week to my home address. Now over a month has passed and still no cover received. The sales representative is unresponsive and completely lack the professionalism and the decency to even respond to inquiries (text, email, phone call). I bought a 2012 accent here in November. Love the car and it was a steal for the low km and price. I swear if it wasn't for the car being as great as it was I would have ran from this place and never looked back. But instead I bought the car and then ran from the place. The car had a slight crack in the front bottom bumper and also the tires were pretty bald. When we asked for these to be fixed/replaced before we signed the deal, they made it seem as though it was a huge ordeal and that by them doing it for us, they were giving us a steal of a deal. They even went as far as to tell me that they were already doing an oil change and certifying the car. I said well don't you have to do that anyways? They said yes but all that costs money. Please. Best part was we were dealing with the sales manager so you'd think the service would be better. Anyhow, as I said the car sold itself on what it was. It was supposed to have been cleaned as well before I got it, but no ... that wasn't done either. I went to vacuum it a couple of weeks after I bought it and found a hair appt card for the previous owner, a couple of pens and other crap under the seats. How hard is it for the detailer to move the hose to under the seat to vacuum it up? ? I would never service my car there and give them any more business/money. I give 2 stars for the car but 0 for the dealership. read more

I came here to repair a broken side mirror on my 2017 Hyundai Elantra. I was told they would order the part, call me when it came in to put down a deposit, then they would paint it and install. Easy peasy. The part came in in less than a week but I had to wait /well/ over a month to get it painted and 8 weeks to get an appointment to install the mirror. Now I get it, work gets busy, it was a small fix, not a huge priority. The reason why I'm giving 1 star is that for 8 weeks I heard /nothing/ from no one. Not one peep. Not one check-in. Not one ``Just wanted to call and give you an update..`` Na da. I called multiple times trying to find out what was going on, left multiple messages and still heard nothing. Each time I called I was told that either 1) the person in charge of repairing my car was out at lunch 2) the person in charge of repairing my car was with a customer 3) the person in charge of repairing my car wasn`t in (and of course he was the only person who knew anything about my repair and ``was the person to ask``) 4) That they`ll call me back on Monday (they never did) 5) They`ll pass on my message (obviously never did) It takes 5 minutes to pick up the phone and call your customers, I should know I work in retail. I would`ve been happy with even 1 phone call but I got to pay a high price for radio silence. SO besides all that, it was fine. Thanks a lot Steve. Hope to see you never. read more

Not a fan of the service department. Consistently fails to follow up on calls and promises. Promised wait times for simple service requirements such as oil changes are ridiculously incorrect - 1.5 hours wait for a pre-booked oil change? Are you kidding me? There is a distinct disdain for client time - not what I consider acceptable in a 'service' department. Sadly, I would recommend clients search elsewhere for service. That being said, Tracy on the sales staff was an outstanding help and a real gem for any organization! read more

- Terrible customer service - staff are uncooperative and prude - They sold a $30000 car to me which didn't come with a key for my locked rims, which according to other Hyundai dealerships say it should have, so when I needed to change to snow tires I couldn't do it. When asked if they would front the $40 bill of a new lock set (out of principle), they "kindly" offered that if I drove down there they would at least break the lock off my rims for me , which was insulting seeing how they know I live 3 hours away ( time, gas, etc.,) and a mechanic could do simple break of the lock. - I wouldn't recommend anyone buying a car from these people - great car though read more

One star is 1 too many! I have had great service from the Service Department at Clarington Hyundai and, when my wife and I were looking for a Palisade, we thought we'd give our business to them. We both showed up and took one for a ride - really liked it. I made an appointment to go back and discuss pricing for the General Manager's vehicle. I spent over an hour of my time and got a "list price" for a vehicle with over 10,000 KM. I sent an email and was told by the GM he would personally contact me to look after the error and that the price was definitely not what I was told by the Sales person or the Sales Manager! That was 3 weeks ago and I've still not heard anything from them. I would STRONGLY suggest looking for your vehicle elsewhere because it's obvious they are not interested in your business - at least not mine. Too bad I was only buying a $50,000+ vehicle but I'm sure another dealership will appreciate my business - at least they will make an effort! read more

Pathetic service department. Left Santa Fe night before at dealership for oil change & tire rotation. Advised by staff to leave vehicle there even though we wanted shuttle service to work. Quote "services would be complete by time we shuttle you to work" . Called at 1:15 pm service hadn't started. Told service staff to forget it picked up vehicle and gave staff a piece of my mind. Vehicle there at 8 am and 5 hrs later nothing done. STAY AWAY !!! read more
