I made an appointment to get an updated eye prescription and asked for the cost. It seemed reasonable to me. Then when I filled out the forms, they had me sign off on $89-$179 additional if I wear contacts. I would imagine at a lot of people who have glasses prescriptions use contacts, I really think they should've mentioned this to me on the phone when I asked for the cost of the appt. Even when I first sat down with the (very nice) tech to ask specifically how much it was gonna cost, she said she didn't know until we did the exam. They were essentially saying, 'Will it be what you booked it as, or will it be double? We don't know!' read more

Dr. Chen is exceptional, but the professionalism and courtesy of the front desk staff need significant improvement. I have always appreciated Dr. Chen, who is an excellent optometrist and truly provides outstanding care. Unfortunately, my recent experiences with the office staff have been disappointing since the new staff has been hired. The reception staff in particular have been extremely unprofessional and at times outright rude. On multiple occasions, both in person and over the phone, I was met with unnecessary attitude when simply trying to schedule an appointment. The staff are not personable, even when expressing thanks, I've often been met with silence or stares rather than a courteous response. After getting my eyes dilated they did not offer protective sunglasses which caused lots or irritation to my eyes. There are some nice receptionists but the one I've been interacting with lately has just been plain rude. Me and my family will no longer be going to clarion for these reasons. read more

I spent almost a year trying to get my prescription correct, went to two different places, 3 different eye doctors and finally found Audrey Chen, she was so patient with me, making sure that we finally got the right prescription for me. She truly loves her job and is so knowledgeable, strongly suggest seeing her. I also always have the best experience with the ladies in the front, Jordan is so kind and caring, she has amazing customer service skills along with the other girls I interacted with (Eva and kehau) and another one that i don't remember her name.. but anyway, I'm so thankful for the experience i receive here every time I come in, definitely worth it read more

I came in as an emergency appointment for a dog scratch on my eye. The office was able to squeeze me in same day, despite calling close to closing. I paid cash for an uninsured visit, and the price was $100 cheaper than the other quotes I received. Dr. Aubrey Chen is probably one of the nicest humans I have ever met. She is a very thorough doctor with above average bedside manner. When I came back for my follow up appointment, same thing: they fit me in around my work schedule, gave me free samples for prescriptions, and gave me 75% off for my follow up fee. 5/5 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! read more

Last year, VSP referred me to this provider. I subsequently shared the takeaway from that visit with VSP. Then in the form of a post to The Clarion Optometry Group's website. (Since deleted.) In a word, the experience was abysmal. The front office personnel exhibited a complete lack of anything approaching professional behavior. Or even basic courtesy: patients and patrons treated like cattle. Notwithstanding Dr. Lowman, the vibe was dumbed down transactional. No grace whatsoever. From persona to prescribed product now, the contact lens I received proved to be of inferior quality: uncomfortable, underpowered. Good for little more than three to four hours' use. In sum, The Clarion Group appear better suited to washing dogs. Perhaps cars. Definitely not human interaction, let alone eyecare. read more

I stop in to make an appointment. I'm told to get lost and call in on the phone. I inquire "I can't make one here and now?" I'm tersely told at the door "no," just before it's shut in my face! Are you kidding me?/! Don't blame that idiocy and rudeness on Covid, which has become a rationalization for all sorts of inapt inhumanity. I, of course, went elsewhere. Inexcusable. That rudeness is a good way to lose business, which you did. When I told the person who recommended you to me, she was horrified and similarly disgusted. One of the worst mickey-mouse operations I've ever come across. They failed to deliver my prescription, after 5 weeks. Then, upon promising a refund, instead charged me yet again. Then, upon promising to make up the original refund and the second charge, failed to do so. Thus, I have to go to my bank, if not court, for satisfaction. And according to my experience, I now distrust the eye exam by one Xu Shao Huang (license OPT13213 TPL), and will seek another exam from a competent optometrist. AVOID THIS SHOP. read more

Had a pretty terrible experience here. The tech was great, the doctor was great, the exam was fine. But afterwords they put us with some bulldog of a sales person, Jenna, who just tried to strong-arm us, charge us a small fortune for everything, and continually lied to us about the numbers. She engaged in classic bait and switch, used car dealer tactics. When we asked for clarification on the outrageous numbers, she raised her voice as if we were deaf instead of just explaining it more clearly. We asked her to lower her voice. She instead tried to gaslight us and tell us we were crazy. Just horrific treatment of customers. We will never be back. And that is due to this company's decision to hire people like that to represent them. read more

The definition of customer service varies from one organization to another. In my opinion there are several areas that must be addressed to provide outstanding customer service. First, the staff should have an excellent attitude and great communication skills. Customers or Patients should be greeted in a pleasant, professional manner. Secondly, practitioners and businesses must realize that people can go where ever they want to have their services provided. Finally, patient's questions or concerns must be addressed. In summation, good customer service means simply to treat patients like you would like to be treated. The result is great customer service and appreciation for their valued patients. This place has a mask policy in place and I let her know that I was CDC exempt because of my breathing condition and I could not breathe if I put a mask on. Have had excellent experience with this Group. Had appointment with Dr. Huang in April due to problems I was having with my RGP lens. Told me my cornea was scarred and mis-shaped and would have to go without my lens for a few months and hope for some healing. At 5 month mark decided cornea was as good as it was going to get. Still couldn't fit RGP to scarred cornea and suggested trying Scleral lens. What a game changer! Got my lenn's last Friday and am seeing better and longer into the day then I have for years! Optometrist Audrey Chen is wonderful. She did an eye glass exam as well as a contact exam. My prescription was spot on. She was very professional and I highly recommend her however, I can't say the same for my experience purchasing eye glasses. Unfortunately, I had a lot of same issues that other reviewers posted, down to the exact technician. All of the staff were very kind my first two visits until I had issues with my new glasses. After four weeks I received my new glasses and needless to say, they had a rough go before they arrived, such that I asked if they were the same glasses I ordered b/c they were a far cry from the ones I tried on four weeks prior. The technician that assisted me with finding my new glasses was obviously irritated with my concerns. I had them refitted and wore them for three days in which it became obvious my prescription was off and the glasses didn't fit my face whatsoever. I was told that it could take up to two weeks for my eyes to adjust but the prescription was so far off I was getting headaches every day. I came in a second time for corrections in which all blame was deflected on me. The two technicians I dealt with deferred responsibility for the issues I was having with my new glasses. One technician in particular, mentioned in another review, was unbelievably rude and unprofessional. As other reviewers commented, this technician was yelling so loudly at me that the receptionist as well as everyone else in the waiting room, were watching. She told me that I didn't own my prescription, that "we" as in Clarion do. Then, I was repeatedly berated by this technician over their policy of returning glasses, as if I was trying to cheat them out of the 400 dollars that I already paid AFTER insurance. She "troubleshooted" the glasses and lo and behold, the pupil distance was done incorrectly. I received no apology. No one took responsibility for the mistake or the condition in which the glasses arrived in. This technician continued to be rude and unprofessional to me even after she troubleshooted my glasses. Apparently, by the kindness of the Clarion, I received my "one time only" eye glasses return. I would highly NOT recommend buying glasses here. read more
