Have to shout out Clark Haus - what from the outside looks like it's going to be one of those liquor stores with a minimal selection of overpriced groceries, ends up being a magical emporium consisting of exactly what you stepped in there to find. Not sure how they do it in a small space, but they always have what I'm looking for, no matter how obscure. Tiramisu? Nondairy creamer? Queso fresco? A niche brand of potato chips from Michigan? Breakfast burritos? No problem. They also don't jack up the prices nearly as much as they could, given their location as a hyperlocal tiny grocery amongst art galleries and salons, and I send thanks to them for that, as someone who lives around the corner and just needs to pop out for some last minute forgotten ingredient. read more

I've never been a fan of what most refer to as "liquor stores." However, thanks to Zach's impeccable taste in design and product choices, Clark Haus has reinvented the wheel, as far as I'm concerned. They raised the barre for all the others, and I'm proud to claim them as "my local corner store," where if I ever do purchase wine/champagne, it will only be from these fine fellows. Ps. Since before this place relocated from the their old spot down the block, my wife and I have called it "The Room of Requirement." We've stopped counting the amount of times we've thrown up a Hail Mary pass for last minute ingredients and they magically seemed to have it. It's priced up as you'd expect from a convenience store, but the sheer amount of variety and good quality they have is wild. I swear I see new products like Vito & Nick's pizza and Cannoli Ben & Jerry's here before I see it at Jewel. In addition to that this place has one of the best beer selections in the city for craft beer. I'm not a big wine drinker, but I'd be willing to bet their selection their is equally as much of a labor of love. The staff is ridiculously nice too, they really make you feel like you're part of a community. As far as I'm concerned this store is a big part of what makes this neighborhood feel like home, and it wouldn't be the same without it. read more

Clark Haus carries some really cool products that are difficult to find elsewhere. My faves are the CBD seltzers and CBD coffee from Marz Brewing and Fazer Nordi chocolate bars. Great beer selection as well. They stock many pantry and fridge staples. So happy to have them in our hood! read more

I was skeptical about another liquor store opening up seeing as Andersonville Liquor is just a few blocks North on Clark, on the same side of the street that Clark Haus resides. This truly is a "gem" as other Yelpers have mentioned. They have a quick stop grocery store with great options, a wide variety of liquor and the owners have been nothing but friendly to me. They go out of their way to provide exemplary customer service. I love to support local businesses and when I asked if they would be willing to carry particular brands that I enjoy, I thought it would end there. I was not only given follow through but consistency. My pear cider and pistachio ice cream is always in stock. They are willing to do what they can for their customers and that speaks volumes. read more

This neighborhood gem is full of character and everything you need. The family (Zach & Sam) have been serving the area for years now after they closed down La Primera to open up Clark House across the street. The new store is amazing and has all the little things you might need from fresh produce, ice cold coffee delivered straight from a keg, household items, cleaning products and more. Of course, they have a great beer, wine and liquor section as well all at good prices. The best part is the owners. So, I've been going to this place since it first opened. I liked it because it was really close to my apartment. There aren't many places like it and it stays open rather late. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be returning to this store. I thought I might have been imagining it, but every time I enter the store, which isn't very large, I get tailed by the employees. It's rather frustrating, because it's close to my place and I have an affinity for late night snacks. Rather than be profiled I think I'll just stock up at Mariano's. read more
