I'm always a little intimidated walking in to a pub I don't know, that kinda looks like it would be an old mans pub, being a woman, it's just not something I do. But with my boyfriend by my side, I can do anything but walking in to Auld Hoose, I felt the most comfortable I've felt walking in to a pub in a long time. The guy behind the bar was super friendly, served us our drinks and was very chatty with the patrons. He was cracking jokes with everyone and it just had an overall feel of being part of something. This pub was definitely my favourite out of all the pubs we went in to while in Perth. It had the feel the mix of Ben Nevis in Finneston and Three Judges in Partick. All wood, loads of windows, sports on the TV and loads of old mirrored signs about the place. Definitely a must see if you're in Perth, we will for sure be back next time we're in town.

They were open pretty late so it was convenient for me to grab a bite with my adjustment to the time change still off. The burger was ok, it came with some gravy to dip my fries and burger in but I didn't use it. There are a lot of better places to eat in Edinburgh but I just went here out of convenience. They host a lot of daily events so I imagine those are fun to socialize and meet new people passing through.

Wetherspoons has a reputation in the UK ranging from great to terrible. I had never been in one…read moreuntil my recent trip to Edinburgh brought me to The Caley Picture House. That Wetherspoons took over an old theater that started out as a silent picture venue in 1923 and later turned into a music venue (where notable acts like Queen, Pink Floyd, and The Smiths had played) really intrigued me! When I told my husband that Wetherspoons is known for their cheap meals and beer, he was all in! The Caley Picture House did not disappoint. What a cool, gorgeous place! We found a table and ordered our meals from their app, and they were delivered a short time later! They have meal deals which include drinks (you pay just a little more to include alcoholic drinks). My husband had their ramen and I had a jacket potato with roasted veggies. I had a delicious cider with mine and my husband had an IPA. We so enjoyed the experience that I took out my phone and ordered ice cream for dessert. We took note of the breakfast menu and came back the next morning to check it out. We both had inexpensive egg and English muffin sandwiches that came with unlimited coffee (a serve yourself espresso machine that included mochas). Really good! The Caley Picture House is fabulous! We told our son he needs to check it out and bring friends. This place is enjoyed by the young and old and everyone in between. We'll be back the next time we are in town!

Set just off the main centre of town, Styx is seen by many as the place you go before you head into the 'club scene' in the town! But what is Styx? Well, primarily it is an American themed pool venue, with snooker tables as well. The main room of Styx is full of pool tables and has a decent bar and smallish dance floor. During the day and nights (when there is not a DJ) one can pick their favourite tunes on the jukebox! Prices for drinks are slightly expensive, more in line with Edinburgh prices. It is at its busiest from Thursday through to Saturday, however apart from that it is pretty quiet. The snooker tables are through in the back and the rooms have an eerie, quiet atmosphere. A decent place for pints and pool, and the best of its kind in the town. It's not hard though!

Well, as an actual, real-life Australian, I'd like to dispute this. I'll start with the positives. This is a huge pub over two floors and is really close to Cineworld. They have some really good Australian beers available here - my recommendations are Coopers and Little Creatures. There ends the positives. The tables are sticky, as is the floor. It has a seriously seedy vibe as soon as you walk in, and there's about 1,000 TVs on around the place showing football/soccer. They weren't even showing the AFL Grand Final which had been on that day, instead opting to show UK football. Perhaps there isn't the demand for it, but that is pretty damn un-Australian. Is the food Australian? I personally don't think so, although they do make an attempt with things like vegemite flat bread on the menu (I wonder if anyone actually orders this). I made the error of ordering a lamington - I didn't properly read the description on the menu so this is partly my fault, but what I received was not a lamington. A lamington is a plain sponge cake, covered in chocolate sauce and then coconut. This was a chocolate brownie covered in coconut. It didn't even taste very good. I'll admit this is my second proper visit here - I first visited when I moved to the UK for Australia Day. That was a terrible, terrible mistake so whatever you do, avoid this pub on the 26th of January. As for every other day of the year? Well, it's up to you, of course. Personally, it's not the pub for me when there's great pubs like The Flying Duck nearby.

Dundee is my home town and having not lived here for a few years, I was really pleased to see such a cool cosmopolitan place that Dundee has been crying out for. Table service makes it that wee bit special and the events manager asked us for feedback to see what we liked and wanted. They had a live band playing upstairs and they were really fantastic. The cocktail menu was really original and each time our drinks were brought to the table, there were squeaks of delight. Highly recommend this place.
