Returned multiple times because the glasses never fit right and rubbed my ear raw. I got tired of going back repeatedly and having the same unresolved issue. I wore my old glasses until I got a new pair a year later. What a waste of money. read more

Staff was friendly but not very helpful with problem solving when the lab caused delays. Seems good customer service would always have a plan B if they are waiting on their glasses for over a month. Buy supplies from a competitor if need be. It is 9/12/24 and I have been waiting over a month for bifocals. Same excuses.Materials on back order. The dr was great but when it was time to pick out frames the dr had to find someone to help me. Once she found someone to help me, that person seemed so annoyed. When I had questions I had to ask someone else. When my person came over, after I waved her over, I asked if they had a pair of glasses I liked in black. Then I asked her how do they looked on me. She says, I'm not giving you my opinion because I told you, you needed the ones with nose pads so I'm not giving you my opinion. Maybe I was going to buy 2 pairs, she didn't know because she was never around trying to figure out what I wanted or needed. . I then walked out without buying any. She was so rude. read more

Both my wife and i will never go back. The one lady is rude. And argued that our insurance was correct,after wife gave her the insurance card.Could not find us in their computer,after asking us for our state drivers lic. Didnt have use scheduled right to begin with. And gave us our glasses,and did not fit them to us. And brought the wrong pair out to my wife. They lost a long time customer. read more

This is just not a good place to go. I hate to write reviews like this, but for the sake of my neighbors I just need to say "stay away." Unless/until overall management of this chain steps up and invests more time and money into this location. I will say there was one receptionist/assistant who did a very good job playing her part, so don't want to diminish everyone there, but the end result of my family's "experience" was just NOT GOOD: * I asked for my glasses to be cut according to my vocational needs. They were not. * Exam rooms require a wall mirror which doesn't maintain proper adjustments for the opticians to do their work. Staff lamented the state of the first room that I was in. The second wasn't much better, which paled in quality to other eye care offices I've been to (I've worn glasses for over 50 years and so have an idea of industry standards). * My son's contact lenses were not ordered, so we had to call them to get the ordered when they did not show up as promised. Turned out there was a delay due to insurance overlap with the previous year, meaning his lenses wouldn't be covered until after the start of the year. So whomever called it in discovered the problem - but then didn't put on a task list to try again after Jan 1. So here in February my son doesn't have his new contacts. * My daughter lost a lens after one month. It popped out previously but she thought she got it in so it would stay. Not. It popped out again and she lost it at work. I realize incidents happen, but in light of the other issues we're having I'm concluding that it was just a shoddy product and/or hasty assembly. And, really, it shouldn't happen. When I buy glasses, I expect the lenses to stay in. Call me crazy. * My wife is not happy with her prescription. Way to strong. So she's wearing her old ones. She'd go back, but just doesn't like the place and so will visit our previous clinic. I had hoped that this clinic would work out for us, because it is closer to home. But we'll go back to driving into the city. Very disappointed in our experiences here. read more

Good staff and frame selection at this location. My 12 year old had her exam and we ordered her first contact lenses and some new glasses. We had come here at her moms recommendation and they took very good care of us. The prices can vary depending on what you need or want but they are very good about presenting everything up front and working with you to find the best options that fit your budget. Their approach to sales is more helpful than upsell driven and I found that appealing. I will probably start coming here for my own eye care after the experience. read more

I go in for my annual visit. Doctor gives a glaucoma test without asking if I wanted one. Extra charge. I proceed to the technicians table where she says you are lookin at about $200 in eyewear. WHAT?!?! I have better insurance than last year but it came out to be higher. She shows me the breakdown of my insurance coverage. I pay for my exam and left. After calling the insurance company and looking over my benefits they charge me the highest rate for each option. $90 for anti glare when I have coverage for $80 and $40 as well. Same for high index, $63 charge but I also have coverage for $53. This was a straight money grab. Sorry won't be back to Clarkson ever. Also you can find cheap glasses online for like $40. read more

The most awful sales pitch in eye glasses I have ever had. They are there to scam you with more than higher prices with your insurance. They told me what I need to buy and added it on to the glasses without asking me. Thin lenses, 2 kinds of coating no line bifocals, all for only $589.00 with insurance paying part of it. I told them to take every thing off and have only frames and line bifocals, total being $398.00 with insurance. Told them I wanted a copy of my prescription and I had to buy it for $35.00. Will I ever go back to a Clarkson ? NO ! I do know it depends on the frames and extras you pick out but look at my cost (with insurance) for just frames and regular lenses. Went into the high ridge location. All went ok until we sat down with Paula to pick out glasses.First she pushed for husband getting 2 pairs. Then she was impatient as we picked out glasses, did not answer our questions, was overall rude. After we picked them out, she told us the glasses would cost x amount with 35 dollar copay for exam and lenses. The lenses and glasses are free tho, so what are the charges for? Without even asking or explaining she added anti night glare, extra protection, scratch and uv....when we are planning to get some rx sun glasses online for 30 bucks, and we DIDN'T want all this. So she took off the extras, and took her sweet time. It took 40 minutes to pay...I will never go back to this location and hope it closes down like the other businesses have in this plaza. I called to complain 30 minutes later and the receptionist ignored my complaint, paused and was silent, speaking all monotone and only addressed my question not my complaint. The doctor and staff are friendly and were very helpful. My problem is with Clarkson Eye Care's lab. I have been wearing glasses for 30 years and have never experienced the month long delays in getting glasses until I became their customer. 3 out of the last 4 glasses that I have purchased have been delayed for a month or longer. Unfortunately for me I have very few choices with my insurance and it means I have to keep going back. read more

Here is what people need to know. There is a reason they have so many location IMO. They do upsell you and you will pay for things that are free or very little charge at other glass shops. When you start getting into prices of $300, $400,$500, and $600 for 1 pair of glasses. You as a consumer need to be diligent. It is not that a company such as this is bad, in fact their exam and staff was quite friendly, but I equate it to a antiquated business model. They are going to charge for UV coating when other places do not, they will charge for yearly frame guarantees when others do not, that sort of thing. Buyers need to realize that their are MANY places out there that you can buy 3- 6 pair of glasses for the price of one at Clarkson. read more

Dr. Romaine is the best! I came in with an emergency (metal shaving lodged in my eye), and the doc got it out within minutes. Way better than waiting for hours at the ER and being treated by a doctor that doesn't specialize in eye care. The staff is very friendly, professional, and compassionate.
