The carpet installers for a local retailer broke several pieces of furniture. The retailer found Classic Furniture Service to manage the repairs. Classic was terrific! They came to the house and assessed both pieces and worked with me on a convenient time for them to come pick them up. There was a dresser with two broken legs and a cedar chest with a broken leg. The dresser had other damage underneath as well. They completed the repairs and returned the items in about a week. I couldn't be happier with the service and care they took with my furniture. The price was reasonable, especially considering we would have had to replace the dresser if we couldn't have it repaired. read more

They may be awesome with their work based on the 5 star reviews, but I'll never know..... Called them a few weeks ago about my broken antique roll-top desk. I spoke with Martin who asked me to send a picture so he could look at it. I did. No response. I emailed again. No response. I finally called and he said he'd been "looking at it." Against my gut feeling (based on no responses to my emails), I made an appointment for him to come out today to see if it could be fixed. It's huge and I cannot transport it. He advised me of the cost for a service call and an estimate of repair. I appreciated the upfront cost info. Fast forward to today. He was to be here between 1-2. I called at 2:15 after no call and no show. He said the "poop has been hitting the fan" "was busy" and "he was looking for my paperwork" but he was still planning to come. Really? He had ALL MORNING to contact me to make other arrangements. Crickets. I thanked him for wasting my time and hung up. There are other people out there who can help me out so the search continues. read more

Over the years we've used these guys to restore several old (well loved) family wood furniture pieces. The quality of their work is unmatched. The capital building has used them to restore their antiques pieces too. Everyone I've interacted with at Classic Furniture Service over the years is super kind, helpful and they produce amazing work! There is some truth to Sam S.'s comment about it being a little hard to get a quote: after I called and emailed pictures, I didn't hear back. I had to call back a week or so later to see where we were with the bid but the extra effort it took me to call another time is more than made up for in the quality of their work. I have now had these guys do two jobs for me that were very different. The first was to take a home made kitchen chair that my great grandfather built as a wedding present for my grandma. It had missing spindels and a cracked seat which we wanted fixed, but we also wanted to keep the toothmarks and other scars from 100 years of family. They delivered! It is now a wonderful usable family heirloom with all the scars and living while being as solid and sound as the day it was gifted to Grandma. The 2nd job was refinishing a heavily used walnut desk and credenza that I bought at a used office furniture store. It now looks brand new, just off of the show room floor. I just picked up my restored 1920's era mirror framed in Oak. Both the mirror and frame are original. Classic Furniture told me that the bevel on the mirror was certainly done by hand as there are multiple curves in the glass and the wood that no machine of that time period could handle. The problem was an odd looking scratch that closely resembled the business end of a medium sized catfish hook. It might have actually been easier to refinish the entire mirror, rather than touch up the scratch and then color match to the original oak. They did it perfectly. Perfectly. I will never, ever go to any other refinishing shop in Salt Lake. Pluses: old school respect and courtesy, they explain the cost of the repair and what is involved in fixing the item, they provide you with a cost estimate and project a date for completion. Pick up and delivery is also an option. They have repaired and or refinished 4 of my antiques over the past 3 years. All were beautifully done and I have been 100% satisfied with each repair. I took our kitchen table into Classic Furniture Service to see about getting it refinished. This table means a great deal to my Wife because of the memories. It had been stored in our garage for 25 years along with the 5 chairs. To say the least, it needed some special care. Not knowing Martin when I first went into their shop, right from the beginning he seemed very interested and concerned about bringing this table back to life. After discussing it with my Wife, I brought the table in to get it worked on. In a shorter time that I expected, their office called me and told me that the table was ready to be picked up. When I first saw the table I couldn't believe it was the same table. It was more beautiful than when we bought it brand new all those years ago. We were so impressed by the craftsmanship and finish of the table, I brought the 5 chairs in to get them refinished. We could not be more pleased with Classic's craftmanship in the refinishing of our table and chairs. If more than 5 stars were available, we would give Martin and his team a solid 10!!!
