My boyfriend and I recently went to look at a boat listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace, and the…read moreexperience we had seeing the work done by Mike's Mobile Marine was extremely disappointing. When we first went to look at the boat, it was still winterized, there were wires left around the engine, the battery had been left in the boat over the winter, and the propeller/trim would not raise properly. We specifically pointed out the issue with the propeller before leaving. The woman selling the boat was very confident in Mike and told us that he would be coming out to take care of everything. We came back after he had worked on the boat, and she told us she had been charged around $800. What was shocking was that the propeller/trim STILL did not work. I understand that boats can have multiple problems and that not every repair is simple, but if a customer is paying that much money and trusting someone to get a boat ready and address known issues, I would expect those issues to either be fixed or clearly explained to the customer. What bothered me most was that the seller genuinely seemed to trust Mike to help her, and from what we personally observed, she was left having paid a significant amount of money while one of the major problems we had specifically identified was still unresolved. I can't speak to anyone else's experience with this business, but based on what my boyfriend and I personally witnessed, I would be very cautious before using Mike's Mobile Marine. I would recommend getting a detailed written estimate of exactly what work will be performed, what was actually repaired, and what you are being charged for before paying.
