We seven were ticketed for the Manhattan II vintage yacht. Classy comfy with a taste of nostalgia. We brought some light snacks, every one of age received a free beer or wine beverage. Soft drinks or coffee for non-drinkers. There was a self serve ice-water dispenser on the bar. There are snacks for sale ie a cheese & nut tray for $22. After you check in on the boardwalk there is a shaded area to wait with the other guests after they assign you a table number. Impeccable service. Chill vibe and music. Cheese board was delicious (wish I would've taken photos) and so were the cocktails. It was a gorgeous day out on the River and the Schooner moves at such a leisurely pace that you can take photos constantly. The air-conditioning was very much appreciated as it was a hot muggy day but beautiful breeze out on the water and the Captain did have a steady bit of dialogue as we passed by landmarks but honestly I was just chill with the music and the sites... the water wasn't very choppy so it was a nice boat ride. We parked on the Pier... and YES it was quite pricey $60.00 for the Mini-Van (oversized vehicle price) but we didn't want to walk far in the heat with the kids. I highly recommend this tour it wasn't congested on the boat and the service was friendly and accommodating. If I am back in NYC with others that wish a tour and easiest way to see Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge and One World Trade Center by the water I'm telling you this the one to select. My family took the Afternoon Fall Foliage Lunch Cruise aboard the Manhattan II with Classic Harbor Line on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 1:45 pm - 3:45 pm. We were a group of 19, 18 adults and 1 child. It was a beautiful fall day for this cruise. There is parking at the Chelsea Piers' parking lots right next to Pier 61, 60, and 59 at West 24th street. The access roads into Chelsea Piers parking can be accessed by taking a right on 11th Avenue and a quick left on W. 24th street. Just keep your eyes peeled for the bus or taxi turn-in into Chelsea Piers and hang a right. Upon entering the parking garages, we pressed the machine for a ticket. We first went to Pier 60 to look for parking but there were none, so we went to Pier 61 (went the wrong way for a little bit) and luckily someone was leaving. Up to 3 hours of parking is $25 and up to 4 hours is $38. The Classic Harbor Line ticket booth is located on the walkway next to the water on Pier 62. The confirmation email and a photo ID needs to be shown to obtain the tickets. When it was time to board, an announcement was made for specific tables for the 1:45 pm Afternoon Fall Foliage Lunch Cruise. Then, we were escorted to the boat by the Captain and to our tables by another staff member. Our tables were already pre-assigned. The Manhattan II is a classic boat, clean, and spacious. We occupied 3 tables at the back of the boat. The captain welcomed us and talked about the lunch menu. The tables already had the bread basket, seasonal salad (red and golden beets, raisins, roasted pipits, blueberries, feta, mixed greens, and frizee), and water. Our complimentary bloody mary, mimosa, beer, wine, or champagne order was taken first. I had the OJ mimosa. Additional beverages and mixed drinks are available for purchase from the bar. Then, our soup order. We had the option for a chicken dumpling soup or a Caribbean corn soup. I had the Caribbean corn soup. A platter of chicken and bacon sandwiches and pesto sandwiches were bought to our table. Lastly, there were apple cider donuts and cookies for dessert on a table for everyone. All the food were tasty and not bad for a boat cruise. The salad and pesto sandwich were probably my favorite. We travelled northbound on the Hudson River to admire the fall leaves, NYC buildings of NYC, bridges, and Jersey on the other side. The captain lightly narrated the tour, but it was a bit hard to hear him. It was nice to be on the outdoor deck to take pictures. All the staff were very nice and hospitable. I would be interested in other Classic Harbor Line cruises as well. read more

I wanted to do something I'd never done in NYC before when my mom and I were visiting for a weekend. To that end, we signed upfor the AIANY Around Manhattan Architecture Boat Tour, which we really enjoyed. The boat is beautiful, and the service is great (they offer complimentary coffee or champagne, but they also offer additional snacks and drinks - lots of people on our tour were enjoying Bloody Marys since we had a brunch time tour). The tour takes you around all of Manhattan, and it's narrated - a tour guide points out architectural points of interest throughout the tour. You see the Statue of Liberty, Governor's Island, Roosevelt Island, and lots of interesting architecture along the three hour tour. Our guide was lovely - informative, friendly, easy to hear and understand. I enjoyed seeing Manhattan from the viewpoint of the boat - it gave me a different appreciation for the size and architectural diversity of Manhattan. The weather wasn't the best on our tour day (cloudy/drizzly/gray and the water was a little bit rough, but it was still a great way to send a morning. Don't forget to bring something warm to wear - I forgot and was annoyed at myself when I couldn't stand outside on the boat for some pictures of the Statue of Liberty without the glass of the boat in the way! read more

The only other time I've been on the Hudson is for the ferry to Liberty Island so this was cool. The crew is very nice and friendly. They actually turn off the engine and sail with the wind as much as they can. When we went it was pretty windy so we were going pretty fast and it was exhilarating! I love being in the water! There is also complimentary beer and wine so that's an added perk. All in all, a positive experience and much recommended for a summer activity. read more

Loved loved loved this! (Did I say that I loved this?). The hubby booked this as a romantic surprise for our date night. Initially, when I saw the schooner pull into port, I felt a little concerned because of it's size (Queue in theme song to "Gilligan's Island). Once on the boat, all concerns allayed. The crew was hospitable, friendly and accommodating. The captain was BEYOND nice and knowledgeable. The views were amazing. It wasn't touristy or garish at all. A very classy romantic fun night. They had clean blankets to snuggle under (it gets real windy on the Hudson). The captain gave interesting anecdotal information about other boats we were passing and about the sights we were seeing. The crew was very generous with the drinks and were hilariously funny. All this for the bargain price of $45!! Can't wait to do this again!! read more

This can be hit or miss. First off, let me say that no way in heck can this schooner fit 49 people. If everyone was sitting shoulder to shoulder, and that includes people at the bow, and the year was 1950 where people's BMIs weren't what they are today, then maybe. Otherwise, if the boat is at capacity, it's tough to move let alone relax, and it sucks to be you if you are swapping leg sweat with the guy who looks like he hasn't shaved or bathed since the beginning of the pandemic. But if the schooner is not at capacity, then it's a joy, as long as the weather cooperates. The crew does a great job making sure we have a smooth ride and that we are hydrated al the time, which is key during the summer. They are happy to talk to you about the boat and explain what each part does, and explain how the "motion of the ocean" is what determines an easy trip. (I don't think he was hitting on me.) The sites are great, and you get much closer to the Statue of Liberty than the Staten Island Ferry will ever take you (plus you don't have to be around Staten Islanders), and you can just escape into a scenic, ocean-based, wet dream. (Not that kind of wet dream.) The summer sun, sea breeze, and ocean waves, are a great way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommend this trip. read more

For my friend's birthday, my honey and I took him sailing on the Adirondack. What an incredible Sat. afternoon! D's been living in NY for years and years and he's never been on a sail boat on the Hudson River. We thought it was time for him to experience something incredibly exciting and different in the city! The Captain and her two deck hands were awesome! We sat really close to the captain and although this was not a sightseeing tour, she was super friendly and told us all about the diff buildings and landmarks. We were also privy to some of the interesting conversation coming through the radio...it was hilarious some things you hear over the air. I loved sailing for two hours around statute of liberty and Ellis Island from the Hudson and having a soda, relaxing under the sun and enjoying my friend's company. We brought a picnic on the boat, which I highly recommend everyone do...simple sandwich or wrap, chips, and little snacks are great!!! read more

Number One thing to do in NYC: take a harbor sunset cruise with Adirondack! We booked a cruise with Captain Andrew who greeted us jovially upon arrival. Fifty passengers boarded the sailboat; pretty much every seat has a good view. Guests sit along the middle of the boat, looking off the side. It's a single row of people, so you aren't having to dodge heads. Plus since you're sailing against the harbor, everything is in perfect sight. Just don't sit by the horn, which will give you a startle. My friends and I sat in the right rear of the boat (which is closest to the pier when docked). We really enjoyed our seats, plus we were right by the sails and got to see Captain Andrew hoist and maneuver them. Captain Andrew's crew were our waiters, bringing us complimentary champagne, as many refills as we'd like. Our sailor, Ori, was a blast. He was also an Ohio native, which was a treat! When new champagne was opened, Ori would pop the cork into the harbor. Later, as the waters got chilly, a little, 10-year-old shipboy appeared (presumably Captain Andrew's son.) He was passing out pillows and fleece blankets to everyone. What a wonderful touch, especially for us ladies in dresses! The tour itself was gorgeous. It was leisurely two hour ride along the harbor, with a breathtaking sunset along the Manhattan Skyline. The sailboat passes Statue of Liberty, then turns around and heads back. The two hour trip really felt much longer, it was so relaxing! The atmosphere of this tour is definitely for adults rather than families with children. I met a couple of native New Yorkers on the boat who had done the tour before. This is definitely an activity for both tourists and locals. For the comfort, view, and unlimited champagne, you really can't beat the price for this crème de la crème of harbor tours. Price per person: $60.00 Journey Time: 2 hours Best View: Right side of the boat (closest to the pier when boarding) sees Manhattan Skyline. Left side sees the harbor and Statue of Liberty. Love the Adirondack! It's a beautiful classic boat with an excellent crew sailing you around our fine city - it couldn't get any better! It's become a joke with my out-of-state family that anyone who visits me in NYC will be taken on the Adirondack! I'm a boater and water loving Cancer so I am biased, but I think it's one of the best things to do in NYC! The guests are generally a neat mix of locals and a few more sophisticated tourists. I usually take a picnic for my group - the boat supplies beverages. We once hosted a surprise birthday party for a friend - we just took enough cupcakes for passengers and crew and it was a blast! Because this is a relatively small vessel, it's NOT good for anyone scared of sailing or who gets motion sickness....it does tip alot! -- oh, and you should also tip the crew when you exit the boat ;) ... It's not a booze cruise so not the place to get tanked. I also don't recommend it for young children - the atmosphere and size of the boat isn't conducive to lots of running around - it's more of a relaxing outing. read more

I went on the Morimoto Sushi and Sake cruise for my birthday and it was really fun. I live in NY and I've done the touristy stuff with family that comes to visit, but I wouldn't categorize this as only a tourist thing. In fact, most of the people on the cruise were NYers. The boat was really nice and the staff was so friendly. You go out to the Statue of Liberty and back to Chelsea Piers. It was a little cold since it was September, but they have warm blankets and everything. The sushi was ok. I think with the name Morimoto I expected something extraordinary. Everything is prepared on the boat and there isn't really a lot of room or refrigeration so I think they kind of have to make due. There were 10 rounds of different sushi and one roll (spicy tuna). The pieces were definitely huge and they are served with the soy already brushed on it. There was an interesting sake selection. They served 4 different sakes including a couple of sparkling sakes. They also serve beer, wine, champagne and non-alcoholic beverages. I was definitely a little buzzed by the end of the cruise. Overall, I had a great time and I would definitely recommend this to someone to do at least once. It's a great way to enjoy the city at sunset. read more

For the price you're paying, you can't really beat this opportunity. I've been on their boats a few times, and I'm always impressed with how the deck hands double as bartenders and do it really well. I think this is a great way to show the city from the water, compared to the bigger boat options that are available. The captain is hilarious, and the experience has been the same whether I'm with a chartered group, or with a small group that shares the space. I kind of think of this as a hidden gem, and plan on using it as a way to show it to friends visiting the city as an alternative to the more expensive, more crowded options. read more

We had a great time on this sailing adventure, ticket includes two hours of sailing down the Hudson River and up to three free drinks. No, liquor but they have canned beers but they're cool craft beers. You also have the option to buy a bottle of wine and/or champagne for around $25, really not that bad. The route: Sail down the Hudson River, you can get great pictures of midtown, downtown. Then over to the Statue of Liberty, great pictures as well, it's the prefect distance. Service: the captain and skippers were all very nice. They even let us drive the boat for a little bit. This is a great activity to take your out of towners on as well as a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. *Note, the boat will tip very far over on the side, keep hold of all possessions. read more

The sail boat was over crowded. Guests could not move. It was suggestion to bring food for a "relaxing cruise" but how you were expected to eat when you couldn't move is beyond me. The Captain was decently attentive but the crew was extremely rude, specifically Sara. I would not suggest this boat. Absolutely fabulous! My husband and I went sailing Saturday afternoon on a two hour sail. We packed our lunch and climbed on board. Chris and the rest of the crew the Adirondack were amazing! I had sailed with a different company a few years back but this was much more pleasurable. My husband hadn't sailed before and he said he had a great afternoon. My company chartered this boat for some clients and it was really nice! It WAS very expensive but the staff was awesome. They were fun and upbeat. We had beer, wine, and champagne service but the food catering would have cost a lot more, so they let us bring our own sandwiches on board. The sail itself was 2 hours, and they even let one of the girls "steer" the boat. Definitely recommended - great for work events. read more

I did the brunch cruise with my parents this morning and had a blast! The crew, especially Zoe, provided excellent service during the service. We really enjoyed the food that was served and the tour was great too! We all left happy and stuffed to the brim! I gotta go with 2 stars for "Meh. I've experienced better." That perfectly sums it up. My friends and family are big fans of sailing, and we've gone on several lines, and this one is just simply subpar. We went on Labor Day for the "sunset" sail, and the boat was so late taking off that we were barely out of the piers by dusk. The cruise was also so packed that we all felt sandwiched in and spent much of the trip contorting and bending to allow people around the boat and to the head. Leaving from the Chelsea Piers also means you spend as much time motoring as sailing. And my opinion doesn't even consider the fact that 5 minutes into the trip one of ther servers dropped a beer off a tray right into my lap and I spent the entire trip with a soggy beer-bum. Actually, it might a little. Yes, this is infinitely better than a Circle Line brunch/booze/tourist trap, and it might be the most appropriate choice for a very large group. But for the price I've been on smaller, more comfortable, and better sailed companies. read more

I packed a basket with 4 different international cheeses, fig jam and other lovely things, and it was a big mistake. Given the limited space you are allowed to move in, I thought the boat was over filled with people. I suppose it was to get more money. This makes the experience too crowded, cramped and bringing things to eat was cumbersome because of all the people they packed into the boat. For $78.00 I would have expected better wine ( as opposed to the very cheap 2 VERY small portions in a plastic cup. Come one guys, you can get a decent bottle for under $15-$20 bucks easy if you care just a little) the advertisement paints this picture as if the experience is elegant and refined. Though the sights were nice, I'm afraid the service was not. We were all "swindled". Might have been better to allow passengers to bring their own drinks. It is also always in bad taste to solicits tips. NEWS FLASH: a tip is contingent upon service. It is neither a right nor an obligation. To be charged $78 for a thimble full of cheap wine, on an overcrowded schooner and lastly to be pressured to tip, and then to have the "tip jar" overtly put on the hand rail of the exit of the boat is inelegant. to force patrons to feel awkward, was tacky and in bad taste. One's guest should never be pressured or put in a position to be uncomfortable if they do not tip. Charge a cheaper price or keep the price the same & Serve better wine,don't try to get more "bag for your buck" by squeezing too many people into your boat, & then perhaps patrons will offer a tip of their own accord based upon stellar service. read more

I took my mom and Uncle on their City Lights Sail last Saturday and it was lovely. This is by far one of the most wonderful and beautiful ways to see the city. We brought a picnic dinner and they supply copious amounts of champagne, beer, wine, soda, or water - which is always nice. It's a beautiful sail down the west side and to the Statue of Liberty and back. I highly recommend it! I can't wait to go again and I will definitely be taking all my NYC visitors on this from now on! read more

Booked this after friends of ours from Amsterdam had mentioned sailing on the Hudson. I can't believe I did not know about this before. It's so much nicer than sitting on one of those massive motorized cabin cruisers! You get to sit on deck and the crew hoists the sails and serves you drinks. We had great views of the city, statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. I would definitely do this again with people that are visiting. I can also imagine it would be good to do for a date. You can bring your own pick-nick or have a dinner in the meatpacking afterwards. read more

The sail was my birthday gift. The crew was super nice and what I feared most, they spoke about first. Don't worry when the boat tips...it will...I've been doing this for twelve years and it has never happened. I felt reassured. I could tell that the people on board enjoyed the sail just as much as me and my partner did. Also..we took the sunset cruise which is $10 more then the day sail ($50 instead of $40) but it was worth it. This was an awesome day with wonderful views and service. My only bummer was that our cruise the night before was canceled due to not enough customers. They really should have taken us out since we booked the sail 3 months in advance and weren't told till we got there. Make sure you call them an hour before to make sure the sail is still on cause you will miss their e-mail while you are in route. read more
