I can't believe I've been in NYC for 20+ years and I've never done this sailing before. Although maybe it's a good thing that I waited this long to do it with Eric who made the experience unbelievable. It was a perfect day for sailing (nice breeze, sunny but not hot, clear skies, and not choppy water). This is definitely an activity that I will come back for. Eric is incredibly knowledgeable about NYC's history and shares it all. His boat is gorgeously kept and is incredibly comfortable and modern with a traditional feel. More importantly you can tell he enjoys what he does, which makes it amazing for those sailing with him. It's also a very relaxing experience. We went out on the 4 hr tour and it went by so incredibly fast! If you have the time I definitely recommend doing the 4 hr as it's the perfect amount of time to enjoy the experience. However, if you don't have the time I very much encourage taking the shorter tour so you can experience a great time. A must-do in NYC! read more

Words will not be able to do justice to how incredible this entire experience on the Genesis was! Captain Eric was the best - so knowledge about both sailing and New York in general. Such a great guy, and you can tell that he really loves what he does. We booked the two hour sail for 4 people that included a sail to the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan Skyline on the Hudson River. The whole sailing experience was wonderful and relaxing, and the views were gorgeous. Also really enjoyed listening to all his stories and histories about the area as we sailed (he'll share with you as much or as little as you want!). We booked the sail so our friend could propose to his girlfriend during it, and Captain Eric worked with him both in advance and while on the sail to ensure that it all went smoothly and perfectly! This included live updates on the weather and the option to reschedule due to inclement weather. He also gave advice on the best portion of the sail for the proposal. We were also able to take some great engagement photos while on the boat as well (and Captain Eric even grabbed some great candids for us as well!). I took a tour with Narwhal Yacht Charters on the 4th of July this year and had an amazing experience sailing the Hudson River and taking in all the sights and scenery of New York City and New Jersey with my family. First off, the tour takes place on the Genesis - a beautifully restored classic sailboat that has more character and personality than any vessel you'll see out on the water. The attention to detail that must have gone into restoring (and must go into maintaining) the Genesis is a testament to the pride and joy that Captain Eric takes in his craft. Eric is an incredibly personable and knowledgeable captain who is happy to share his vast knowledge of the history of the surrounding harbor with you if you are interested but also allows you time to just relax and enjoy the experience with your friends and family if you like. I booked a yacht charter and this was a great way to start off my 40th birthday celebration that night. From start to finish, Eric the captain of the yacht answered all of my questions and was very friendly. I would give him 5 stars for just his customer service and another 5 stars for the service he provided. All of my 5 guests thought this was a great way to spend the evening and would like to do this again. I did the sunset cruise for two hours. We arrived a bit later then planned, and he made up the time even though he didn't have to. Which we were grateful for. First and foremost, Eric is one of the most respectable captains I have ever met. Celebrating my engagement day with my fiancée aboard the Genesis was the best thing we could've done to top off the evening. Eric was very patient with my request to book the perfect day and was willing to work around the unpredictable August weather. Had an absolutely fantastic night out with five other friends and Captain Eric. We originally were scheduled for a four hour tour but due to thunderstorms in the forecast we had to reschedule. Erics number one concern for us was our safety which was very much appreciated - you'll feel safe in his hands. What can I say... chartering a sail on the Genesis with Captain Eric was one of the best decisions I've ever made in life. It was a perfect experience from beginning to end. I am still basking in the glow of how wonderful it was. I booked a 4 hour sunset sail for my relatives who were visiting from abroad, and Captain Eric made us all feel right at home on his beautiful boat. He provides food and dramamine, blankets if you get chilly, and you can even bluetooth your own music! Captain Eric is a super knowledgable guide and overall great human being-- congenial and accommodating, very communicative and professional. He answered my messages right away and welcomed any further questions. You can tell he really cares about his passengers and has a gift for sailing, I guarantee you will be in good hands. His boat is immaculately clean and well-maintained (he's got a lovely history behind the boat, too!) and takes the smallest details into consideration. I have a lot of respect for his obvious passion for sailing & the Hudson River area. I've lived in NJ/NYC my entire life and learned so much I didn't know about the history of the Hudson River/all the boroughs/NJ. Not to mention, the views are absolutely breathtaking~ I didn't want the sail to end. I also loved that our group of 5 was able to enjoy the boat all to ourselves, and were able to bring our own snacks & beverages, too. With our own soundtrack, it was like heaven. This was a truly rare treat for us, and I imagine just about anyone would fall in love with this experience. Captain Eric even allowed my small dog to come along in a carrier because we were the last charter of the day. (Eric cleans his boat daily, so manageable dogs in carriers are allowed on the last trip in case someone on the next sail is allergic.) We were so happy to have our pup with us.
