I had a bench upholstered in a loose weave ballistic nylon with a torn seam. They were busy and booking new work starting 7 months out. She offered to hand stitch a quick repair that day. I brought it in, she reinforced the seam with glue, 2 hours to dry and she stitched it up and called me to pick it up. Result is very good, price was great. She warned me not to expect result will last forever as the fabric is loose and coming apart at the edge. If I could give Classic Upholstery in Anacortes 10 stars, I would. They reupholstered a kitchen bench and fixed some sofa cushions. The bench is amazing and cushions look good as new! The work was excellent, done in a timely manner and fairly priced. Juli went out of her way to come in twice on a Saturday for the drop off and pick up. Short version: Probably the worst experience I've had with a contractor or trade, and I've had a lot. Severe lack of technical detail in their work. Blame customers when things don't get done correctly. Will not stand behind their work. I've never been treated so poorly by any business or business owner. Long version: I contacted the owner of the business in January to bid a job to redo all of our cushions on our boat. She provided a quote fairly promptly but if was pretty vague in details that I would expect. But, OK, let's do this in April. I sent her a deposit for the full cost of the fabric. April comes around and we move our boat to A-town. Fabric isn't there yet. So, they take some of our cushions and we wait for the fabric. The fabric finally gets there (I'm quite sure they never ordered it until we showed up even though they had our money) after two weeks they finally get going on the job. We got the first set of cushions back and one was sized incorrectly and had a notch cut in the wrong place. We sent it back and they fixed the sizing problem but not the incorrrect cut of the notch (probably because they would have had to make a whole new cushion. Argh! Next we get the rest of our cushions for our dinette and most do not fit well at all. One of workers comes to the boat to see what the problem is. She 'fixed' the poorly fitting cushions by adding batting to them - not really a fix for an improperly cut foam cushion. One rounded corner piece was off by 2 " on both ends. The only way to fix it properly was to redo it. After talking to the owner and being told that I was being unreasonable, she finally agreed to fix it. I'm unreasonable because I don't want 1-2" gaps in my cushions. We took it back but they didn't really do anything to fix it, just added some batting. It looks horrible but we had to leave. Also, they couldn't even talk to us when we came to pick up the cushions. What a horrible, horrible experience. So, I guess we'll have to find a more competent company to work with which is hard because we live and travel on our boat. I would push this further but life is too short. I have had a lot of experience working with upholsterers and slip-cover makers and Classic Upholstery is a stellar operation. The quality of their craftsmanship in both is exceptional. The business is a tricky one because most clients don't understand the difficulties of estimating yardage needs, coordinating the acquisition of fabric, designing the slipcover or permanent upholstery and then accommodating changes as the work proceeds. The team at Classic Upholstery gets it right on all counts. They communicate well with the client and they completed the work exactly on the schedule they proposed. Unable to see that their problems are internal, and then they blame the customer. This is the worst company that I have dealt with. Go somewhere else if at all possible. Mistake 1: It began with Classic completely forgetting about their set appointment to meet at our location to look at our job. What a start! Mistake 2: We agreed that we would be ordering our own fabric for all 5 areas except 1 that they would order. I get a call one day that they have our fabric that we sent in but that they ordered a fabric for the job. This was a completely different then we agreed on. Not once did they call to confirm if we wanted fabric ordered even after agreeing that they would only order fabric for one area that they were already working on. Now the good part - they said to me that this was my mistake, and that we were going to be charged for their mistake. Yes you heard that right. I decide that I want to be fare should there be any confusion and I agree to split it with them. Way above and beyond. Mistake 3: We agreed on the fabric that they were ordering on day one of the job and then a month later when I am back in town they ask if I would bring in another cushion for the one that they were working on as they had misplaced the fabric that we chose and they need to start over. Really...I am not kidding So I pack up another cushion and run it over to them not saying thing. Mistake 4: I am now asked to drop off the project area that they double ordered the fabric for. They ask what one they are to use, and I tell them that I need to talk to my wife to let her know. Julie looks confused but by the time I hang up from talking to my wife I say that we most definitely want the fabric that we ordered for the job, not the one that they just took the liberty to order. (Similar but different color by the way) So now they have all my dinette cushions for approximately 8 weeks. (We only have 12 weeks for the whole project to be complete as it is on a boat that is leaving). After these 8 weeks where they have the two fabrics, and my direction to use my fabric - they say that they were never told which one they were to use. One email, text or phone call and the answer that I had given 8 weeks before would have been communicated, but they will not communicate. Think about it - if you had a choice that you ordered - and someone else ordered something different, is it that hard to think about what the customer may want. Ahhh...maybe the one that they sent in. So now the best part - they send an email and tell us that we are really hard to work with and they are not going to do any of the rest of our job. A $6500 project. We have had a live project for over 3 months and now they do this. They tell us that they have had to wait on us on what fabric they were supposed to put on these cushions and that they aren't going to deal with it any more. As stated earlier they were told and someone must have been smoking something as they had made mistakes at every turn. I say to the owner, Diana, that I surely hope she will reconsider. And she says "No, we are very busy and our board is full." So I reply "Well I can help with that." And I hang up. Two days later that Anacoretes police calls me to ask if I had threatened them. You are reading this correctly. An Anacoretes business called the police on a customer that has had over 4 mistakes made by Classic Upholstery. I tell the officer exactly what I said above, and that I would use every review service to help the rest of you know the way this drama queen run business handles their issues with a bad business model. The owner wants out of the business (told to us earlier in the project), and I think she should just shut down, as their is no one on the staff that can pick up the ball. I had told them that I would stop by the next day to pick up my items, and instead they packed it all up and delivered to the boat yard and charged me a $60 fee to do so. Unbelievable!! Take all of your upholstery needs anywhere but Classic Upholstery. read more

I have been in the design industry for 24 years, I know how the process works. Beware of Classic Upholstery..... their lack of ability to manage a simple project, pick up the phone to ask a simple question, or follow directions, almost borders on incompetence. They didn't even have my correct name on my first quote and forgot about one of our appointments. They ordered fabric that we told them TWICE that we had NOT made a final decision on, then charged us half the cost of the fabric for THEIR MISTAKE. A simple phone call or email or taking notes would have solved that issue. After two months they decided they didn't want to do my job anymore and didn't bother to let's us know until we called. I should start by noting the address on Yelp isn't correct - the store is on Commercial Avenue. Anyway, we ended up using Classic Upholstery to make a new slipcover for our sofa based on the recommendation of the store where we purchased the sofa. The sofa is designed to have a slipcover, which is why we purchased it. The store no longer carries the brand so it couldn't help us get a replacement slipcover. The manager recommended Classic Upholstery. At the time, we were living in Seattle, so we had to drive to Anacortes to discuss the slipcover with the store owner. She was very helpful and gave us samples to take back and forth with us while we made a fabric decision. Ultimately, we decided to purchase fabric elsewhere, but Classic was helpful in estimating the amount of fabric we'd need as well as letting us know what kind of fabric they could work with and what would work well on the sofa. I brought the original slipcover to the store to use as a pattern, and there were never any measurements or photographs taken - it felt a bit like a wing and a prayer - but because the original slipcover was such a perfect fit, we all went with it (getting the sofa from Seattle to Anacortes would have been very difficult). The only issue we ran into was the timing. The person who was going to make the slipcover got backed up on work and the process took longer than estimated. Our issue with that was we were preparing to move 2,500 miles, and we wanted the slipcover in hand so it could be part of the move. The owner, Diana, ensured the slipcover was finished in time. When we put it on the sofa, it fit perfectly - much better, in fact, than the second slipcover we ordered from the manufacturer seven years ago. As well, the work was very high quality - seams were serged and there was good attention to detail, complete with the velcro included to keep the fabric connected beneath the arms of the sofa. The cost was reasonable and we are very pleased with the quality of the work. read more

I wanted 3 accent chairs reupholstered and had difficulty finding someone that came with a recommendation. I had purchased 2 new accent chairs at Tracy's Furniture in Anacortes and over a period of a few weeks decided I did not like the fabric I selected. The fabric on the back of the chair was lovely but the same fabric on the front was too bright. After searching for awhile I decided to ask Tracy's and they recommended Classic Upholstery. Classic said they could leave the fabric on the back of the chair and I could pick something to go on the front. To make a long story short, I made my selections. Classic said they were booked three months out. I placed my order in January and the middle of March, 2018, my chairs were ready. They did a wonderful job, I am very pleased. I had also asked if they could put new cushions on the two new chairs as my feet did not touch the floor when I sat in them and they said it would not be a problem. WORST SERVICE EVER! They told me on the phone my item would take 1 week and would cost less than $60. They took over 2 weeks and charged me almost $100. When I called to see where they were at in the process, they acted like I was incompetent for expecting them to keep their word and have my item back within a week and stated it usually takes "4 to 6" weeks. Well then why did your business promise 1 week? Rude. Expensive. I am taking my items elsewhere next time. They also charge extra for using a credit card. Get with the times! It is the year 2016 and most people use cards to pay. I would give them 0 stars if I could. read more

We had our boat cushions redone by Classic Upholstery (three years ago) after hunting for quite a while to find a company in the Skagit Valley area that could do what we wanted for the best price. We got quotes from 3 local upholstery businesses in the area and Classic's was by far the cheapest, plus they really seemed to specialize in marine upholstery. Their work was exceptional and has held up like brand new even after three boating seasons of salt water exposure. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do work on their boat. read more
