When we finally decided on our venue which oversaw the NYC skyline, we meticulously looked for all the vendors to help make our dream wedding come true. As we were on a tight budget, we were hesitant on getting a videographer however were told by SO many of our friends that the biggest regret they had for their weddings was not getting video. Due to this, we started looking all over for videographers that not only captured amazing footage of all aspects of the wedding, and to capture all guests, but also that the video was of high-quality. As time was going by, our options were dwindling as we were not able to find the right videographer for us and we were a few months away from the wedding date. Luckily by some fate of fortune, my good friend whom I was a bridesmaid for said that she LOVED the videographer she had for her wedding. I quickly went and watched her highlight reel and asked if it was costly to have so many videographers, however she said it was only one person. I was SO impressed that one person could produce such a great video (and it was ONLY the highlight reel - I cannot imagine the full length film) that I had to meet with him immediately. Due to that chance of fate, I contacted Scott who was very luckily available on our date. Through email, he was very professional, responsive and answered any concerns we had. For budgeting reasons we were unable to have Scott the whole day to capture getting ready, however we asked if he could come a bit earlier than the ceremony to film a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony for us which he happily agreed. That meant SO MUCH since we really wanted to make sure we were able to capture that for years to come. On the day of the wedding, as we were walking back from First Look photos, we met Scott in person for the first time and he was extremely easy-going and friendly. He also had a video camera that looked like something out of an action movie. Even my nephew ran into it a few times since it looked SO COOL. Throughout the day and night, we thought Scott was just some sort of ninja since he would be at so many places at once. He worked great with our photographer and we just trusted wherever he asked us to look or go. That night, my husband and I could not believe how fast the day went and just looked at each other and said, "SO HAPPY WE BOOKED SCOTT AS VIDEOGRAPHER!!" A couple of days later, we had guests mention if the drone flying around was for us, and that it was really cool that we had aerial shots. Of course, my husband and I just told our friends that it was probably for some other wedding since we had no idea. I was really curious, and asked Scott, who in fact DID have a drone and that it was for OUR wedding. That was a HUGE SURPRISE that I am still baffled by today. We have not yet saw any footage, as our wedding was only a couple of days ago on 9/30, however we are SO EXCITED and will believe it to be nothing short of amazing!!!!! Scott showed up on time, if not early, and made it to all the different locations at precisely the right times (even though they were 20 to 45 minutes a part). He is very personable and worked great with my photographer. He was never in the way, and was able to capture my wedding day from all angles. The film he made for us was perfect, he considered our style and what was important to us. For instance, Scott recognized our love/slight obsession with our dog so he incorporated her in the film beautifully, he also knew that I was very upset about the flowers my florist delivered (I ordered from Floral Expressions in Woodbridge, NJ - I was very very unhappy with the flowers they delivered) so Scott made it a point to exclude a lot of footage of the terrible flowers. In short, Scott is a fantastic videographer and I would refer his services to anyone!

I purchased a service for her through Groupon, checked up on her webpage and facebook page, didn't seem to see any negative reviews, and we needed a photographer in that area, so I thought her deal sounded great. (A roughly one hour session at a local park for $79, outfit changes if we wanted, and I would receive a copy of all raw images, from which she would edit five...) The initial apt set up was ok, but from then on, communication was a HASSLE. I had to call HER the day of our apt to confirm the appointment... It was raining on and off that day, so we decided to speak at 2 in the afternoon to decide if we were able to do the photos or not... I didn't hear from her, tried to call her a couple of times and heard nothing back... Until 4:15, when she called and said I'll be at the park in 15 mintues... We had expressed that we were staying 30 minutes from the park, and she gave us NO time to be ready... When we reached the park, she wasn't there... She went to THE WRONG PARK, even though I had confirmed the park with her... The entire photo session she was MUCH more concerned with her camera getting wet (mind you it didn't rain the entire time), then she was about capturing our family moments... Which shows in the pictures, because lets be honest, she missed 98% of the things a photographer would capture... She claims on her groupons to win awards for child photography... Not ONE good picture of my toddler, whose "essence" I can capture on my smartphone. I cried when I saw the pictures, they were just sad... The experience was horrible, my husband and I were so stressed out by her by the time we got to the right place that we nearly canceled... My assumption is she isn't really interested in doing a good job for groupons because people aren't paying full price... She is constantly posting "sneak peaks" and session photos on her facebook, and I sat and waited for ours to pop up and they never did- probably because they were so sub-par... Must I also mention that we are military from out of town and my husband doesn't have many chances to see his son, so these pictures were meant to be a special way for them to both remember each other... Which she failed to do for us as a family and for my husband and son... I find her actions to be completely disrespectful on a personal level, as well as blatant disrespect and disregard for military personnel... On another note, we had brought cupcakes with us as a cute little prop and reward for the toddler who had done a great job dealing with all of her nonsense... She looked at me and said "I don't get your vision for this." Are we serious? I have to explain to an artist that i want cute pictures of my husband and his son eating cupcakes together (which is one of their favorite things) and you don't get an artistic vision for this? This also shows in the photos, they aren't good, didn't capture the moment, and were a pure disappointment... Isn't photography about being artistic??? She also brought her husband and daughter with her, which I have no problem with, but halfway through the photo session, they walked right through our group and distracted our toddler- to me, this is rude. I did receive the RAW images from her, but when I told her which images I would like her to edit, she wouldn't respond... A month later I contacted groupon, who was VERY quick to give my money back... I still haven't heard from her... I researched and spoke with dozens of photographers by email and phone, and Chris was really the best. We got our shots back and even four weeks later I cried from how authentic, unposed, and gorgeous his shots were. So here are the main things that mattered to me: * Composition and "feel" of the photos - His site and blog speaks for themselves. I love love LOVE that his shots are so artistic and so natural at the same time. This was absolutely the style we wanted. We wanted someone who could help us do the family portraits and such but also didn't need guidance to capture genuine moments during the event at great angles. He also has an eye for color and composition, suggesting folks move slightly in groupings so that the flow of the picture looked better * Makes Awkward People Look Good- Seriously, this is real skill. My fiancé and I are awkward in front of cameras.. Something about him sets you at ease which is gold for awkward people. Also, we are neither of us photogenic and he made us look like relative movie stars! My goal was to have five photos we could point to one day with our kids to prove that Mommy and Daddy were young and good looking once upon a time. Mission accomplished. Also, any problem areas you're self-conscious about? They'll help with that. I was totally terrified my arms would come out fat in every shot. I still have no idea what Chris and Erin did to improve this but whatever it was, it worked - they're not a magic bullet but they definitely knew how to work with us to get us at our most advantageous angles. * Great Suggestions - Chris is totally unassuming and "go-with-the -flow"; he's not a diva photographer, but he was great at giving suggestions when we had no idea what we wanted to do. He had been keeping an eye out as we were doing family photos and suggested we go out and take more just the two of us that ended up being some of my favorites from the bunch. He had great ideas for a few positions and poses to get us started, which was great, and then he just let us do our thing. * Ninja Timing - I was flipping through our photos and at least four times, I said, "how did they possibly get this shot?". I have no idea how he and Erin were everywhere at once. Some of the photos Erin took from second floor windows looking down on the ceremony, etc. were just phenomenal to add to the ones Chris took in the thick of things. * Is Not a Goon - It really mattered to me to work with people I could genuinely like, and I genuinely liked Chris and Erin. Seriously, it's pretty clear that the wedding industry has bad seeds like any other industry, and for choosing someone to spend the entire day witnessing one of the most intimate, personal moments in your life? Go with someone who makes you feel /good/. I would highly recommend Chris and his team and in fact, one of my good friends is going to be using him in August for her wedding. Walter was so rude to everyone, including the two elderly mothers of the bride/groom. He missed taking the one picture we requested for the whole day and blamed us for making him miss the shot. He did not have a single picture of the immediate family. His DJ actually called my husband "Dan" instead of "David" which was in fact my late husband's name. This mistake brought me both embarrassment and pain. When these painful mistakes were brought to his attention, Walter refused to take any responsibility. We requested a discount due to missing scope, and Walter blocked us from viewing the gallery. I work with dozens of vendors and have never had such a distressing experience. Using Eloquent Studios is my only regret from my wedding day.
