So when I learned of Judy's retirement, I was nervous to say the least. However, from the moment I first met Katherine, she gave me peace of mind, assured me of her qualifications, and together we came up with the best plan to groom my furbaby. With my permission, the owner also allowed my dog to be a learning tool for students. I waited around for a minute while I heard her talk about the importance of comforting the pet, listening to its body language and pain cues, talking to the pet to offer reassurance, and most importantly to be gentle and aware. I left happy knowing just how cared for my furbaby was. Later I received a call, saying my dog was all done. I headed in and could not believe my eyes. My furry baby was stylish, healthy and kissing all the students. That speaks volumes!!! I was so happy with the grooming job and how happy and comfortable my pet was. Now my furbaby loves to see all her friends at least once a month, and at decent pricing too. I am a customer for life!! _____________________________ Professional Pet Grooming Promise: 1. Before deciding to board my dog here, I spoke with a young lady named Essence. She assured me over the phone that my dog would be outside during the day, with unlimited access to water. She also told me that she would feed my dog twice a day, and allow her to play with the other dogs upon me showing a shot record. I dropped my dog off early Friday afternoon. When I pulled up to the house, Essence came out to greet me. She seemed to be nice and good with my dog, but she did not let me in the house. After I showed her my dog's shot records, she took her into the home. She told me that she was letting her run around to get acclimated to the house. Who knows if this true? Essence came back outside and assured me that she would text pictures and video footage of my dog throughout her stay there. I paid her $170 in cash ($125 for boarding and $45 for grooming) up front. I left a dog bed, an unopened bag of dog food, a blanket and a chew toy. On Friday, I never received a text or phone call about my dog's progress. I didn't think too much of it, since I was traveling most of the day. Saturday morning, I texted Essence to check on my dog. I received a text back that she was doing great, and that pictures would come later. Now, I'm not the most tech savvy person. But in this age of cell phone cameras, it's not hard to snap a picture or video at any given moment, fire it off, and go on about your business. So the fact that she didn't send a pic at that time raised an eyebrow. All of Saturday came and went - no pics, no video, no texts. Early Sunday morning, I received a text saying my dog was doing great and she was getting along well with the other dogs. Whoever texted me said that it had been a busy day in grooming, and they hadn't had a chance to take pictures. I replied back to thank her for the update. I also asked that she send me some footage of my dog playing with the other dogs. I received no response for the entire day. Monday morning, I called the phone number. Whoever had the phone did not answer, but decided to text me a response to my request for footage that I'd sent the previous day. The response was, "Okay, I'll talk to you soon." I called Monday evening - no answer. At this point, I'd given up on receiving any kind of photos off my dog. Given their shady behavior, I just hoped they hadn't kidnapped my dog and that I wouldn't have to bring the law to their establishment to get my dog back upon my return home. On Tuesday, I called. I didn't expect an answer and I didn't get one. So I sent a text letting them know that I would be there at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. I also reminded them that I'd paid for grooming and that I'd like her to be ready to go. I received no response. Wednesday morning, I called about 10 minutes prior to arriving at the home. Again, no answer. When I got to the house, I knocked on the door and an older lady answered. I asked for Essence and was told that she was not home. The lady told me that she was Essence's mother. After I told her who I was, Essence's mother went into the house and came back with my dog. She then tells me that my dog wouldn't eat the food that I left, but would eat their food - Dog Chow. She also tells me that she didn't know if my dog was allergic to Dog Chow, so she didn't know if she should feed it to her. She then goes to get my dog bed and tells me that my dog had "a little accident." As she hands me the dog bed, she asks me if I have a carpet cleaner and suggests that I use that to clean it or take it to the laundromat. As I take the bed, I realize that it is SOAKED in dog urine. The lady then explains that my dog wet her bed because they were giving her lots of water to accommodate for the fact that she would not eat. I also noticed that while my dog was in the house, the rest of the dogs (all small lap dogs) were out in the backyard running freely. What I gathered from this situation is: 1) they didn't let my dog outside; 2) she was confined somewhere small with her bed; and 3) they didn't feed her. If she wouldn't eat like they claim, why did they not call me or at least answer my calls/texts? I AM LIVID. To add insult to injury, 20 minutes after I picked up my dog, someone called me to question why I had not paid upon pick up. I told her that I paid Essence in full upon drop-off. I'm amazed that she could call me to question me about payment, but couldn't pick up the phone to let me know that my dog wouldn't eat and ask what to do, instead of starving her for 5 days. Her weight loss was immediately noticeable to my husband, w/o me saying anything. I'm still not sure they groomed her since she smelled like urine. She vomited the first 24 hours after I picked her up and she now has diarrhea. NEVER AGAIN!
