I am writing in response to Customer "Ann Arbor R.'s" complaint, which, unfortunately, this customer chose to work out in a public review forum rather than figure out in a reasonable adult fashion with us. It is almost as if the customer gets more satisfaction from besmirching our good name than hearing the truth of what really happened and to allow us a chance to make her happy!! We almost hate to say it : but the customer is NOT ALWAYS right, and in this case, she is mightily not right. Sorry, but if we provide a service for you according to your specifications, and even then, you are not satisfied, and upon letting us know that, you refuse to let us remedy the situation, (as she did by NOT ALLOWING US TO CORRECT IT as I had discussed with her on Monday)..., but rather hold us hostage to your whims, well, then... what can we do? NO, we will not refund your money when we have provided you with our usual professional service... and you refuse to work it out with us when you are unsatisfied. Yep, it's the principle of the matter!
The grooming business is NOT for softies!
We DID bathe Murphy 2 times as is our custom so the dog"s fur can be clean and straight for cutting. Two other employees verified this was done. Ann admitted on Monday that her dog always has an odor the day after she bathes it, indicating that HER DOG HAS ODORUS SKIN! We normally express anal glands in the tub as needed so they won't explode on us or on our tables during grooming. We would never groom a stinky or anal-smelling dog. Dogs on their own sometimes express anal glands when excited and this could have happened after the haircut either in the kennel while waiting to go home or in the car. Ann asked for a "SHORT HAIR CUT BUT NOT SHAVED" so we used an '
"1 guard" all over (which leaves coat short but not shave) and an "A-guard" on the head (to match the body) and trimmed ears and taiL and scissor-cut the side and blended in the hair. Murphy is a sweet Shih Tzu X German wire hair mix and his hair/fur is fuzzy and loose which required some clipping, some scissoring, and some blending. We do not "CUT CORNERS" which Ann implied we did after she called and said she needed her dog more quickly than we had planned. When she called we were working on the dog and were able to work him straight through just in time for an earlier pick up in 25 minutes. When asked if she liked the cut, Ann said SHE DID but said, "it isn't as short as I would have cut it though." We said we could write it down on the card for the next time. It is easy to take more off as we cannot put hair back on! For 1st time clients, we ask many questions and work toward getting the cut just the way the client desires. If ever we feel that we have made a mistake, it is our policy to fix it...(AND OFFERED TO DO SO ON MONDAY!)...but Ann left happy and seemed satisfied. When she did call she wanted to make the basis for her full refund to be that we did not give Murphy a bath.
Well, sorry, but that was NOT TRUE, and we wanted to make sure that not only Murphy's groomer herself verified that, but our other groomer and receptionist: and all 3 verify: Murphy got bathed twice!
I have tried calling this client 3 times today to talk with her again after thoroughly investigating her complaint from this past Monday afternoon. Our groomer was off work Tuesday. I told Ann I would call her back but did NOT specify it would be Tuesday, as I had planned to respond on Wed.--- however because of the unusually heavy day (before Easter it gets this way), I was ultra busy with clients until 5:30 pm when the last client left. I called Ann Thursday morning. Ann chose NOT to answer my phone calls.
Our groomers each come with many successful years of grooming, which is a prerequisite for working with us. The groomer who groomed "Murphy" has been grooming for 33 years and is often "requested" when clients call for appointments!
We use quality shampoos, whiteners, conditioners and grooming aids to make the grooms look and smell their best daily. We assess the needs of each dog and cat and choose products that enhance the look, feel and smell of each individual animal. Our staff LOVES ANIMALS and WE ALL treat the pets with dignity and respect and keep them comfortable which is evidenced by their happy returns for future grooming. Pets are loved as if they were our own! We provide excellent service to our clients--- AND their pets whether young, old, blind, deaf, arthritic, with warts or tumors, whether big or small... including cats...we take care to make them look and feel fantastic! We enjoy our work! We aim to please and hope we hit the correct target each and every time! If you ask our clients, I believe you will get very positive reviews everyday!! We know we cannot "please them all"...as some people can't be pleased no matter how much you bend over backwards for them and their pets...and we are sorry we won't be seeing Murphy again---he was a great dog. read more
