There is a large parking lot out front with plenty of places to park. The business is well marked with welcome signs and plants out front. We got there right at the end of the day and we were still greeted kindly. Very unique items. Very feminine vibe with lots of records and antique porcelain to go through. Fun! A hidden gem. If you are into affordable antiques and all kinds of eclectic stuff make sure to pay a visit to Clawson Antiques. The store front is small and not easy to spot from the road but you will be happy once you find yourself inside. I found this place because I get my hair done at R Salon which is right next door. The guy that was manning the store was very helpful and friendly. I bought a beautiful blue brooch for just $23.00 There is a vibrant painting of the desert that is full of color and was done in the 1950's for just $45.00; I really want to return and pick it up. If you have a sports fan in the family treat them to some of the off-beat sports memorabilia that is loaded in this store. read more

Blink and you'll miss it: the Clawson Antique shop is located directly across from the Clawson Grill in a strip mall that includes a popular hair studio, about a block and some down off of the Main and 14 Mile intersection. The ample front parking around the strip mall should be your giveaway you've reached the right spot. If your tastes run to mid-century vintage with a soft spot for warm Americana, this is your place. The vibe is established the moment you walk in the door to the most unlikely of settings for an antique shop. Set aside any notions of dusty furniture and a dozen china cabinets set back to back, full of breakable things your grandma never let you touch. Imagine a huge street light flashing colourful amber and scarlet, a flashy picture of Marilyn Monroe, and appliances that come straight out of Mad Men. The slick gleam of chrome and the elegant flutter of preserved childhood memories abound because the owner has a sharp eye for 40s to 70s materials, with smatterings of earlier and later periods represented. But there is a feel here of modernistic ease and surprises scattered throughout. Look high, look low, and while you're at it, marvel at a few of those toys played with by our progenitors. They seem awful sharp and rickety, devoid of the safety softening lines and curves that make everything for the under-10 set feel so blobby. There's one section set aside for a late 70s bedroom of one very lucky tween that constantly brings me a smile. Home decor forms the dominant basis of antiques here. Big pieces of furniture are rare, and the selection of art pieces, framed pictures, and some fascinating knick-knacks very well represented. Lots of framed prints, posters, and paintings run the gamut of styles -- I saw the Odalisque of 19th century fame alongside a Marilyn picture and a few posters of famous movies, so there you go. A very selective assortment of jewelry and vintage clothing, mostly women's, is available along with shoes. It's very hit or miss on the sizes, obviously favouring the single digits. I don't come in enough to know how regularly it turns over, but again, definitely a mid-century vibe here. The jewelry is curated carefully and pretty. read more

During my short stay in Clawson this past holiday I made sure to visit Clawson Antiques each day, finding new and exciting items to take back with me to Brooklyn as decor in my new apartment. I was thrilled by how welcoming and friendly the staff were, and shocked by how accommodating one of the vendors was to ensure I got the items I wanted to take back with me. Each person I brought in with me managed to find an item that fit their unique styles, as well. Happy to say Clawson Antiques is now a necessary staple to my trips to Michigan. Small business front , hidden in plain sight on Main Street in Clawson. I was surprised by the variety for a a smaller shop- my husband and I left with a couple of nice finds. Good prices, and even an unexpected discount given! Will for sure make this part of our regular rotation. read more
