What a fun and great place to take your kids. My daughter and I and her 3 kids went to paint some Christmas ornaments the other day. The kids had such a blast picking out their ornaments and Casa clay brings out everything you need. You pick the colors and they bring them to you. The kids and myself had such a nice time painting our ornaments. Can't wait to see how they turned out. There is a nice little area for the really small kids that want to color or read or play with some of their toys they have in the corner. It is really relaxing to paint. The gals are wonderful here. I have been to Clay Casa many times over the years and it never disappoints! If you've never experienced this before, you will pick something ceramic and glaze it however you'd like and then leave it with them to finish and kiln. All the staff is so kind and helpful if/when you have questions about the prices, pieces to paint, or techniques seen on display items. Definitely a place to pass the time with friend, two or more! I have seen lots of families enjoy this place and dates as well. Only drawback, if you're not local you may have to organize (and I'd assume pay) for the shipping to get it sent to wherever you live. They only keep your finished pieces for a few months at a time before they stop housing them for you. If you are just walking by, you can browse the pieces and see if you like anything before committing to anything. I've seen lots of people flow in and out. If you like something and there's an open table, go nuts! If it's busy, you can be out on a waiting list while you walk around the shops above, around and behind the establishment, or go to the eatery behind for a glass of wine and quick bite! Tip: If you are wanting to go on a weekend, during the summer (or honestly most) afternoons, or just like to be sure you get a table, I'd highly recommend calling a day or two ahead and reserving a table! Our family's experience at this establishment has been nothing short of a disgrace, riddled with unprofessional behavior, dismissive attitudes, and blatant dishonesty. Let me outline the facts for those considering patronizing this business: On December 29th, my family, including a 7-month-old baby, visited Clay Casa. Despite the cold weather, we had a pleasant time painting, assisted by an employee, Nora, who seemed friendly at first. I had even thanked helpfulness. However, this friendliness proved to be a facade when the owner later admitted that Nora and other staff fabricated false claims about my behavior, tarnishing my character. We were informed our pieces would be ready on January 11th. Trusting their instructions, we scheduled a return visit. This involved a 47-minute drive, parking fees, and navigating busy streets with small children. Upon arrival, we were told our items were not ready--no apology, no accountability. Instead, we were met with dismissive attitudes and eye rolls. Determined to resolve the issue, I reached out to the owner, who promised to notify me when the pieces were ready. On 1/14, I received confirmation and, wanting to support the business despite their missteps, I returned today with a friend and her children, collectively spending an additional $200. The owner had offered a $20 credit as an apology for their the late items--an insulting gesture given the inconvenience we endured. I requested this amount be increased to $30 which doesn't even cover the price of most items in the store; she agreed. This credit was issued as a gift card, hand written on a post card, which led to the most egregious experience of all. During our visit today, my husband, trying to keep our painting space organized, took our box of completed pieces (and unbeknownst to us, the "gift" post card) to the truck, parked six blocks away in freezing weather. When it came time to pay, the staff refused to apply the credit unless we retrieved the physical gift card. I explained the situation and even offered to destroy the gift card and send photographic proof, but the staff, including a particularly rude older woman (manager on duty), refused to accommodate us. Their solution? Force us to walk back six blocks in the cold with our baby to retrieve a card for a mere $30. When I called to address this, the owner defended this behavior, claiming that all customers must be treated as potential liars due to previous thefts who either never come back for their items or for one reason or another end up not paying for them. She essentially admitted that mistrust is the foundation of her business model, and she refused to make any special accommodations; to her everyone is someone who could steal from her and must be treated as such. To add insult to injury, the owner accused me of speaking negatively about the business during my visit--a blatant lie. I did no such thing, as even my friend can attest. This defamatory accusation solidified the business's utter lack of professionalism. I asked her to check the cameras to prove it and she said she can't due to their limited capacity. This business treats customers not as valued patrons but as adversaries. Their policies and attitudes are rooted in mistrust, and their blatant dishonesty is a testament to their poor management. No family deserves to be treated this way. I urge anyone considering Clay Casa to think twice. A $20 credit (or even $30) does not make up for the disrespect, dishonesty, and inconvenience they force upon their customers. Businesses that lack integrity and treat their patrons like criminals have no place in our communities. Take your time, money, and energy elsewhere. At the conclusion of this experience, I told the owner to mail me my pieces because I never want to step foot in their establishment again and be treated this way by their staff. read more

If you're going, do not rely on the walk in queue. We tried going on Valentines day spontaneously after visiting the farmers market. We started 8th in the queue and was told to wait on a call. We waited an hour and a half just trying to kill time. Turns out they tried to call us but their phone was having trouble doing outbound calls. On my contact list I literally had no calls. They talked to the manager about our issue and the best they could do was put us back in the queue behind 11 other parties. If you have a phone that you know is having outbound call issues, why don't you just text the people in the waiting list instead. All in all, was a waste of time. read more

My 8 year old grandson and I had a blast painting our grim reaper (him) and mermaid mug (me)! Lots of clay designs in all price ranges to choose from. The staff was so good about gathering our supplies and paint and even extra paint as requested. We took about an hour and a half to complete our pieces which will then be clear coated and fired by the Clay Casa staff. Can't wait to see our masterpieces in about a week. This is a fun, relaxing environment. The ladies who work here are excellent at explaining the how's of painting. (I have never done the tile work. It is available.) You basically choose what you wish to paint. Then, you choose the colors you wish to paint your item with. While they get the paints ready, you go get the paint brushes you want to use. Typlcally, I use about 3 different paint brushes. There are also q-tips and tooth picks (helps remove unwanted paint, aka mistakes) available to use. The best thing I can share is to use at least 3 applications of the paints. I love the thin liners that you can use to outline and even sign your pieces! You turn in your painted pieces and pay the fees. Then you come back in 2 weeks after the pieces have been put in the kiln to be fired. You pick them up and get to enjoy the beautiful pieces you painted. This never disappoints! We have done this with our children almost every year for the last 15 years. read more

The problem that we all had was that everything is way overpriced. $38 for a coffee mug is crazy, and to top it off there were only one or two things in the entire store that were under $30. Many of these shops are much cheaper than this with mugs going for $20, plates for $15, etc. "they fire it for you" yes they all do, it doesn't change the fact that they are charging tourists out the butt because they don't know any better. read more

Went here with a friend to make Father's Day gifts with our kids on the 5th of June. The in-store experience was nice, and they had a large selection to choose from. Initially we were informed that the gifts were not going to be done by Father's Day. After receiving that information, we were considering going to another place. However, the lady that was assisting us was nice enough to ask her manager if the orders could be rushed. This was so that we could pick them up in time for Father's Day. The manager agreed, so we ended up staying. We called the day before the 15th, which is when we were promised they would be ready. The manager confirmed for the second time that they would be ready by the 15th at 10am. When we sent someone on the 15th to pick them up, they said they were not done and wouldn't be until the 16th. We called again to make sure they did not make a mistake and all we received was attitude and allegations that we had misunderstood the agreed upon pick up date and that their paperwork showed the 16th. We picked them up on the 16th and it was clear that they had altered the ticket from the 15th to the 16th. I completely understand the quick turnaround, the rush fee being waved, and the fact that they are busy. That said, it doesn't excuse the fact that they tried to hide that they either got too busy or forgot about the agreed upon date. Instead of admitting they made a mistake they instead lied and then attempted to make the paperwork match up by changing the "5" to a "6". Overall I am giving this experience a one star due to the way the situation was handled and the way we were treated as customers. read more

My grand twins were staying with me for a week. I was looking fir an activity we could all enjoy indoors! It was so hot here. I'd heard if clay Casa several times but had never been there. I was very impressed with the clean well organized shop and the cheerful helpful staff. My grands each picked out a project and proceeded to paint it. Even my reluctant grandson really enjoyed the time!!! At the end of the week when we reviewed everything we had done they both asked to return next time Casa next time. We will be back! read more

We just moved to new Braunfels before my daughter's 6th birthday and she decided she wanted to have her party here. The party was decently-priced and the room looked cute, so we went for it. I arrived to the party room 11 minutes before the party started so I could decorate and set up. I was previously told on various occasions that it ras fine to bring food, drinks, our own table covers, and balloons, which I did. The second I walked in to the party room, I was instantly greeted with "are you here for the party?" I said "yes, I am just here to set up real quick." The gal instantly said "well, this is why we ask people not to arrive early." She hadn't even set up the room and I was actually told I absolutely could arrive early. When I responded with "well, the party starts in 10 minutes" she responded with "oh. I didn't know." And walked away scrambling to try to set up! No apology. No introduction. NOTHING. The room is SUPER small. We only had 8 kids and 5 parents and there was NO ROOM. After everyone arrived, a new gal came in and introduced herself. She was super nice and attentive and gave us our space over going over the instructions. There was about 8-10 different colors of paint to use and that was it. No sponges, puffy paint, or anything.. which wasn't a big deal but my daughter was so excited to use the puffy paint on hers. Just adding that part in. Anyways, once the kids finished painting, they said they would call us once the pieces were ready. We only had 5 families, but they would not allow each individual family to be contacted to pick up their own items, which they all wanted to do. I didn't mind picking the pieces up for everyone, but the kids were bummed they couldn't come back and pick their own up from the other families. The pieces took about 2 weeks after the party to be ready to collect and they were packaged nicely when we picked up with all the kids names on the bottoms of each. They also provided a birthday mug for my birthday girl. Overall, it is what it is, but I cannot believe how rude the first member was and that the party was not ready only 10 minutes before it started. We will definitely never be back. read more

Buyer beware:The in-store experience was good & there was a variety of items to choose from, but the customer service afterward was awful. I hadn't heard from Clay Casa about my items for 3 weeks and called to see if they were ready. I was told they were & that the text sent letting me know that was more than like flagged as spam, since that happens frequently for them. No concern for the inconvenience and no apology. Their records were also contradictory about when the text message was supposedly sent. When I picked them up that same day,  I inquired about a follow up phone call or possibly not using text as a means of communication since it is unreliable for them, the person nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders and patronizingly said "I'll let management know." However, given her demeaner, I do not believe that any constructive feedback will happen. There is a sign in the store and notice on the pickup document that items left after 30 days are not their responsibility & will be donated after 45 days, Apparently, after the costumer paints and pays, Clay Casa no longer cares about the customer. read more

Had a great time here, went in right around opening on a Thursday and my friend and I had the place to ourselves. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and she showed us around and gave us the basic run down on how it all worked, recommendations on paint amounts to use and so on. Now I have no artistic skill that I have yet discovered, my imagination is amazing, but bringing what is in my brain to real life is a daunting task for me. So I chose to play it safe with a coffee mug and my friend did a plate. It was a very fun and relaxing experience, she sat us by the front windows for the best lighting (and allowed me to people watch too which is always fun). My friend and I had a great time catching up and creating our masterpieces (though my masterpiece might not be as grand it was solely due to artist error). We were checked on and helped just enough not too much so that we couldn't chat but not to the point where we had to go and ask for help, a great balance. Got a call back less than a week later that our items were ready for pick up and my friend's plate turned out amazing and my coffee mug wasn't as terrifying as I had feared. All in all very happy with the experience, will go again so I can make more art that looks like my 5 year old might have done it (In fact i'll probably bring him next time so I have someone at my artistic level). read more

I'm beyond disappointed with the customer service. I took my son to paint a frame for Father's Day. Before going in to Clay Casa, I called to make sure it would be ready BEFORE Father's Day. There were two employees there, one was so helpful and friendly; the other seemed bothered to help. As I paid, I once again confirmed that my item would be ready before Father's Day. I called the day before; only to be told that it would not be ready until the day after Father's Day. I received a call on Father's Day, I was told that my item was now ready. I was out of town, celebrating my dad and husband. I stopped by the location to pick up my item the following day at 5:18 PM. The store was closed. According to their website, the store closes at 6:00 PM. I wish I would have been told, from the beginning, that my item would not be ready on time. I would have appreciated an honest answer. I don't think it's fair that I need to call to check on their hours to make sure I can pick up an item I have already paid for. I will definitely not be going there again. read more

This is a great place to go and paint even if your not a talented painter. You pick out your item or items when you arrive and get seated. Once you are seated you pick out your colors and from there on your free to paint however you feel. The room is quiet and has soft music playing.
