A dog showed up on my property about seven days ago. I live on a really big farm. It's been staying under a tree and I have been feeding it once a day for about a week waiting for an owner to come forward. No one did so I called the shelter to turn her in and they told me simply because I was feeding her about seven days that she was no longer "considered a stray" . Mind you this dog has been sleeping out across the field . I have not given it shelter. It has not been inside my home. It is still a straight animal that I have been occasionally feeding.They basically told me they weren't gonna do anything to help her. I said so because she's been getting some food here and there she is shit out of luck? This animal is in need and solely because I was feeding it for a week. They refused to help her. I want to start by saying prior to this experience I typically haven't had any major issues. The issue I did have was a receptionist that thought she knew better than myself and Dr. Broadhurst who had authorized the behavioral/medical euthanasia of two of my dogs. It was to be scheduled whenever I was ready. I ended up taking them elsewhere because she wouldn't schedule it; was rude, condescending etc. My HUGE issue is with my most recent visit to the urgent care. I brought my cat in for THREE episodes of vomiting. Provided history (which they inaccurately documented). I had incorporated a new flavor/variety of food and the cats that ate it were affected. I provided the timeline of when the food was mixed in, symptoms, etc VERY DETAILED as I am a vet assistant and closely monitor my animals. They took x-rays and advised he had a linear foreign body. I am not a radiologist; I do not read x-rays. I was told that Dr. Broadhurst also reviewed the x-rays and concluded linear FB. I asked about hospitalization, fluids, repeat x-rays and was denied. Told surgery was necessary. I signed the consents because I was not going to allow my cat to suffer and die if he had a FB. They call after surgery to say, no FB only food in his stomach. To which I asked, "So we could have hospitalized and repeated x-rays as I asked". Dr. Wenner said, "Yup, we could have". Diagnosis: Gastroenteritis. My cat went through a very costly, unnecessary surgery. Post surgery I had the xrays evaluated by two separate DVMs along with an RVT and all three agreed that it was not a linear FB due to presentation. Surgery was unnecessary and should NOT have been. So, not only am I out nearly two grand but my cat had a completely unnecessary surgery due to what I call, "sheer incompetence". I have since had to take my other cats to the vet. Thankfully, I chose a competent vet who provided the appropriate treatment which didn't involve an unnecessary surgery, and my cats are on the mend. I have no intentions of returning to Clay as I no longer trust them or their ability to appropriately read x-rays. All around this has been a terrible experience. They haven't bothered to even call to check on him, and surgery was 4 days ago. The vet I took my other cats to have called daily to check on them AND my cat that had surgery, a cat they didn't do the surgery on. Very disappointing experiencing. read more

Lack of follow-up by staff. I had to keep calling them about tests results. Finally, they responded and told me a prescription that our pet would need to be on. There was nothing written up. After more chasing them down to get one, the doctor wrote a very difficult anti-biotic compound that is not obtainable. The staff appears to be clueless and will not assist with their pharmacy referral (Vet Source) to compound this specific prescribed antibiotic. Vet Source required a letter of referral from the Vet Doctor to go forward with this special compound, but the staff will not message the Doctor on this issue. Terrible Vetterinarian experience. Dignity, gentleness, compassion, and love are poured onto your pets here... sorry, I meant small, furry humans! The staff in the front, check in area is so sweet, polite, & most importantly accommodating! The doctors always listen with open ears even if you're crying through your words (as I have done a few times when my babies were sick or hurt). What I appreciate the most is that the doctors do not try to diminish your pockets or wallets. They prescribe what is needed. my small dog was injured by a neighbor. He had gotten out and the neighbor ran after him. In short I yelled for her to leave him alo because he will come home on his own. She ignored me and picked him up and threw him down on concrete. She actually did it twice. i Worried about him because he limped and cried. The vets in my area are incredibly expensive so a friend told me to take him to CCHS. I was glad I did. Everyone was so nice. Dr. Broadhurst was great. He xrayed and couldn't find any fractures. He said he probably had soft tissue injuries and gave me Motrin for his pain. Well it took 2 days for him to manage his pain. He's my dog again and doesn't seem to be in pain anymore. I was very pleased with CCHS. I'll go there again next ti I need a vet. I would highly recommend them. read more

The experience you have here is dependent on who you see. My first two visits were with great vets, techs and front office staff. When I went in for the third visit they must have done a shift change, and I got the 30-year-old who thinks she knows more than every other vet. The Vet acted like she knows everything and lied all through my discharge notes so she can take money for procedures that I didn't agree on. That needs to be stopped here. I went to ER on Sunday night, and the vet said to bring my dog the next morning who was critically ill so he could get IV fluids for two whole days. We discussed price. Of course the next morning, the lady up front who is rude and looks like the one trying to rob everyone ( i will call her roots) says that wasn't the price agreed on and I need to pre-pay 400. Who asks you to prepay when dropping a dog off? The vet tech acted like he had no idea why I was bringing my dog in which makes me wonder about their communication as a whole. I asked to speak to the vet that I unfortunately got stuck with that day - Kossel, but she was too lazy to speak to me or find out anything from me directly. I paid 400 up front (don't ever make that mistake) and left my dog in their care at 8:30. Big mistake. The vet or so-called vet calls me in between 2:30 and 3:00 ( they close at 5) and sounded like it was an annoyance to her that she had to call me. My dog should of been hooked up to fluids all day. That was what I agreed and paid for. She hadn't done it. She said wait until next day as it was late. I was shocked because my dog was having trouble walking and couldn't understand a vet being that negligent that I was picking my dog up as sick as when I dropped him off. That was the whole reason for the visit that day was the IV fluids and the Addison test to get my dog better. I paid 400 which more than covered both. The fluids were 100 a day. I wanted him to have the Addison's test since two doctors at an animal hospital said I should have it so I could rule it out. She told me before I hung up at 3 my bill was 125. I get there (at 5) and my bill was 290?? They started the IV fluids at 3, just so she could charge me and tried to write in her notes that I asked her to. NO I didn't. She lied all through her notes. I asked her if she could do the in the neck injection. My dog needed a full day of fluids not an hours' worth Kossel. I dropped him off for fluids, what office fee? There was no office visit. You charge an office fee when you aren't too lazy to have an office visit. When she called me, she was the flattest, most unempathetic vet I have ever had the misfortune of having spoken to. 30 years old and flat as can be. Too young to hate her job already. I think she was just mad because she didn't want me on her schedule that day. My dog is 14 and a half and she had a charge on there for a neuter test??What is that? A BS fee. The two previous vets noted my dog was neutered so instead of Kosel doing her job she is performing unnecessary tests to basically steal money from customers. It sounds harsh but that is what she is doing and you prepay so they can get away with it. Did she wrongly assume I wasn't going to help my dog because I was in between pay days. She said on report I didn't want a biopsy I was broke- lie. She said on the report that I didn't want an Addisons test because I was broke- lie. I said I didn't want the blood panel, I never said I didn't want the Addisons test. I did not want to Euthanize my dog, what I wanted was a vet to help me figure out what was going on with my dog and listen and to give him the treatment that he deserved, and I paid for. Not a nasty individual who is trying to get over on customers. I paid the money for the fluids that day, but she didn't do her job. She is disgusting as far as I am concerned and should not even call herself a vet. I have been busy tending to my dog, but I will be reporting her for her unethical billing practices, and she will need to return the money she stole. My dog doesn't need a neuter test. Be careful with this place and don't ever prepay for anything. You can get better care elsewhere and pay less as well. Lucky for me I had a wonderful vet for 25 years and she will be remembered as the legend she is. After I made the mistake of coming to her that day and being charged for services not provided, I took him to a hospital and got the fluids and care he needed for several days. They were wonderful. It is hard to believe this kind of vet even exists. My dog didn't need a test to see if he was fixed to get lifesaving fluids, what he needed was a vet that cared and wasn't a crook. She doesn't care about animals. She had one job that day and she FAILED. You don't just do what you feel like doing Kosel. Overbilled $150. Now that she neglected my dog I will have to report her, and I will. I am just getting started. On the other hand, DR Wenner was fabulous. read more

I checked my dog here to have his teeth cleaned . It cost $850 so don't tell me that they are nonprofit . They burnt my dog somehow, when I picked him up nothing seemed amiss but 2 Days Later his hair started sticking up on his side and I saw that there was something underneath thought it was an infection took him back and they had the nerve to tell me that something bit him and they gave me antibiotics which I had to also pay for. I decided to take him to Black Creek Veterinary . He saw Dr Spencer and she said that he was burnt with either hot water or a sock . I called this place back talk to a rude rude not qualified front desk clerk who refused to allow me to speak to a vet and denied that they did anything to hurt my dog. Well they did it. He had only been there to have his teeth cleaned so they burnt my dog. This place is barbaric and they won't admit to their mistakes . I'm not going to lie I was nervous to bring my puppy(Nami) here to get spayed by looking at all the reviews. I called them and asked a lot of questions and payed a deposit for her surgery day. It took about 2 months for her to get surgery because they are very fully. I walked in extremely nervous of my baby like every proud mom. It was spirit week for the business so every employee was in pajamas I thought that was cool. The man with curly hair was in the front I asked him some questions and he answered them very throughly while I was filling out the paperwork. I paid $5 extra to get her incision laser done. Everything was about $150 I thought that was a good price since my actual vet wanted me to pay $700+. I came back 8ish hours later I picked up Nami. She healed very nicely with no problems at all. The only think I didn't like they tattooed a green line on her to prove she been spayed. I didn't like they didn't ask or notified me they were going to do this until after the surgery. My dog got a tattoo before me lol but all seriousness this place was great! read more

I have been bringing my babies here for at least 20 years and never had a problem. Recently I had to take my 17 year old cat in because she was very ill. I knew it wouldn't be a good diagnosis but was surprised when they said it was cancer. I took her in on a Sunday for an emergency visit so I wouldn't have to wait for an appointment. The wait was 2 hours but I expected longer. They did the x-ray first since labs would have been expensive and they didn't want to me to pay more than necessary. I appreciated that. In the end, we had her sedated and put to sleep. I think I knew she wouldn't be coming home that day and was ready for it. They were compassionate and the visit went as well as it could under the circumstances. read more

I brought my poor kitten in after he slipped out of the house and an apparent dog attack resulting in severe injuries to his eye. He received nothing but the absolute best care. The were able to rush him in for emergency surgery to remove his eye and were the absolute best. They reassured me throughout the process, and it was a great experience (outside of the injuries) from checkin to pick up. The doctor and surgeons were phenomenal and highly skilled. My medical doctor even said the stitching was beautifully done and would heal perfectly (they are also a close friend I sent video to). This is an amazing team who really cares for your pet... and at a fraction of the cost I was quoted from the pet ER and other veterinarians who also wouldn't be able to operate until days or weeks later. My baby is recovering beautifully and we have so much gratitude for everyone at Clay County Humane Society. they went above and beyond and I will always be so grateful! read more

The doctors and staff there are great. I've had good and bad experiences. My one complaint is I took my cat in on April 19 spent $400 on x-rays ,bloodwork, urinalysis and meds. I was told she had a UTI and she should feel better in a couple of days , one week later , she seemed worse . unfortunately my veterinarian had left my vet. The one I used for eight years and moved to Clay humane . I did have an established account because two of my animals I had already gotten in there to see the vet.. my cat had never been sick so had not gotten her in to your office. One week later I bring her in on Monday morning because she's worse and instead of saying oh no I'm so sorry she's worse. Let's recheck her. I'm told we'll try to fit her in and we're gonna charge you $100 office visit for fitting you in.????really?? at this point I have no choice. My cat is sick. My only veterinarian for eight years works for you and she was diagnosed at your veterinarian a week ago.. so I'm then again charged for bloodwork x-rays and I'm not even sure what else but it ended up being over a $400 again to be told my cat has cancer and it's gonna die. I honestly feel that since it only been a week there might've been some grace given to see my cat without charging me $100 office visit I've been working and rescue for almost 9 years and I have seen so many animals surrender so sick and now I understand why, if I had not had CareCredit, I wouldn't have been able to afford to pay this. I never expected it to be another $400. super disappointed and now I have to pay yet again to try to get her in there to have her humanely put to sleep. Clay County Humane Society is EXTREMELY affordable. My dog Roxy is a Dogo Argentino Mastiff, weighing 120lbs. She unfortunately has heart worms, so we went to every clinic that I could think of and no one was as affordable as Clay Humane. Once we began treatment in September 2016, she had quit eating and drinking all together- so I called the clinic & they immediately made an emergency appointment to see Roxy the same day. Dr Green who is taking over our original vet, is so amazing, she's very compassionate and detailed. She took her time with us, made me feel so much better about Roxy's treatment plan and once we left the office we had Roxy eating and drinking, even playing again within the next day. I can't explain how appreciative I am that clinics like Clay Humane exist. Without them, Roxy would never be able to get treated for her condition. Which is highly important to be treated IMMEDIATELY. I highly recommend Dr. Green & the Clay County Humane Society to anyone needing to find a low cost clinic or vet all together! They expect owners to set in the parking lot and hand over our pets to them. I've had my vaccinations and I wear a mask and I'm not comfortable handing my fur baby over to someone without me being there. I was recommended by a friend due to my fur baby needing CCL surgery. I was looking around for a good vet that fit my bank account. I scheduled the appointment for 9:45a for the consultation, I was seen at 10:45 am. They were extremely busy that day, although a little frustrated I understood. This guy comes in the room and immediately sits down in front of my dog and started to pet her and talk to her. Once he bonded he then he introduced himself to me. Which I thought that was great. Dr Broadhurst really explained in great detail in laments term, drew diagrams the who, what, when and how it's all going to work. He gave me options as well as advice. The best thing was I did not feel any pressure to provide an answer at that time but I did feel confident on what I was going to do. I scheduled the surgery for a Wednesday which I dropped her off Tuesday and picked her up on Thursday. When I picked her up I was brought into a another room with a couch and a gentleman by the name of Conner came in; he explained the aftercare. Again all the how's, who, when and where's we're all covered. This place leaves no stone unturned. I left there knowing what I needed to do and if anything happens I feel confident making the phone call to them. I also want to give kudos to all the office staff as well. They used to be good but over the last few years they have gone down hill. Once they started the urgent care after hours it became really bad. They over book so they can push you to use it, and pay the extra. The front desk staff is unhelpful and rude now. You don't know which Dr. you will get so there is no continuity in care and it seems that no communication between the doctors so they will try different treatments. There are many better vets than this, I would recommend not using this one. read more

I waited over half hour on hold to speak with someone. I was told that is normal. Finally I brought my dog that had severe diarrhea and cramping in with $75 appt fee (which was fine since I was as told in advance). However they ran blood work without telling me it would be $200 dollars! So my final bill was $320.00! I tried to speak with someone waiting again over half hour. I finally gave up and came in on the following Monday at noon and I was told too bad! They would not even give small credit amount! I would not recommend this vet office to anyone. I made the mistake of taking my dog, Parker, to Clay Humane Society to get neutered. He went in on Friday for his surgery. I was at work when Parker was picked up later that afternoon, so it was a couple hours later when I got to see him. My boyfriend, who had picked him up, stated that the staff said everything went well. I noticed that the scrotal incision was not closed and I mentioned to my boyfriend that I thought it was odd that they wouldn't at least glue it if they weren't going to stitch it. (I am an RN so I'm quite familiar with wounds, using the glue, healing, etc). Within the first day the cone that was purchased at the vet was falling apart and I purchased a new one. Mind you, Parker was never left alone and never without a cone. There was someone awake and with him over the entire weekend as my household has different sleeping schedules and I didn't want him alone until he was recovered. Sunday, two days post-op, Parker was vomiting, his wound was extremely swollen, and he was restless and panting. We took him back to Clay Humane during urgent care hours that evening and was told he had an infection. They prescribed antibiotics for the infection, antiemetics for nausea, and sent us on our way. It's now two days after the urgent care visit and because the scrotal incision is still completely open and has shown no signs of healing, back to the vet we went. Clay Humane then tries to say that he needs surgery to remove the scrotal sac but blamed it on the cone and says Parker must have licked it. The cone that he is wearing fits according to the manufacturer recommendations, not to mention that regardless of whether they think it fits, the cone is doing it's job quite well as he has not been able to lick with it on. I have seen him try and it's not physically possible. (I would also like to point out that nobody mentioned anything about the cone being too small when he was seen at Urgent Care.) Clay Humane Society does not take responsibility for their subpar work, they made false accusations as to Parker's wound being our fault when that's just simply not the case. They said they would do the surgery to fix the problem but they would charge us for the surgery since it was "not their fault". I already paid more for the urgent care visit than the entire cost of surgery. They claim the incision was internally stitched and then glued, which if it was then they did a very poor job as it was open when I assessed the area the afternoon of the surgery. Luckily for us, another nearby vet was able to get Parker in for surgery tonight to repair what was done to him at Clay Humane. Sure, it will end up costing more to take him somewhere else, but Parker is our family member and his quality of care is more important. I regret not researching quality of the vet's office before making his appointment to get neutered at Clay Humane, especially since I have now heard of this same thing happening to someone I know at this same vet. That was my mistake and it's not one I will make again. I hope that my review will help prevent another furry family member from having to suffer a similar ordeal. read more

Since I am a multiple cat owner, I do have a regular vet, but I am struggling financially to keep up with all the costs associated with having a kind heart and trying to do the right thing for 8 cats. My regular vet's prices are so high, I literally have no retirement savings left. I heard about Clay County Humane Society's prices and decided to give them a try when a kitten showed up in my back yard that needed to be neutered. It was such an awesome experience I brought another cat in that I suspected might have a UTI. This was the 1st of 2 disappointing experiences. I was a bit frustrated with the Vet and her hard push for a rabies vaccination. This particular cat is 13 years old and has had multiple rabies vaccinations over her life. I've recently been made aware of how over-vaccinating pets is not good, it's pharmaceutical company influence, much like human doctors are influenced to push medications and vaccinations. I let her know I had personal concerns, trying not to sound like a conspiracy theorist or an anti-vax person, but she kept pushing until I said yes. They try to shame you by making you feel you are endangering their staff, but my cat had already received several rabies vaccinations over the years, and I truly believe she did not need more than that. The 2nd disappointing experience happened 15 minutes ago. I have an old lady kitty who is in her last days, possibly hours, from Feline Leukemia. All of my cats are rescues or strays, so this is just a fact of life I have to deal with. She is the 3rd to leave me this year, and the first 2 exhausted what little savings I had left, between the many visits for their end of life care and the euthanasias. My vet charges $160 per euthanasia, which I simply can not spare if I want to keep my electricity on this month. He offers payment plans, but I have payment planned myself into utter poverty, I just can't do it. I called Clay Humane to see what their prices were, explaining she has reached the point that I feel she needs mercy. Apparently, they have a cruel policy, and won't do it if she has a regular vet, saying she needs to go to a vet she is familiar with...?? Like she knows the difference right now? she's practically unconscious, and let's be real - cats hate going to any vet, and I can assure you, she would not prefer any one vet over another - they are all strangers and monsters to most cats. I thanked the nice person on the phone and told him I would have to let her die here at home because I can't afford my regular vet. I wonder what would have happened if I told him I just found her in the streets and wanted to help her out of her misery? I doubt I will recommend them for anything other than spaying/neutering in the future. I honestly think that would make them happy, as I don't think they are looking to be a 'regular' vet. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY ANIMALS HERE. They messed up a kittens surgery not once but TWICE and just stapled the poor thing a third time then called it a day. * First time they glued her incision together and we noticed instantly that it was slightly opened at the time when we first got her but were told if it wasn't oozing it should be fine. The wound got infected and opened not even 48 hours later because the glue didn't hold. (We spoke to animal hospitals where we were told they should not have only glued it in the first place) * Second time they had to keep her over night despite telling us it would be a same day operation. The power went out during the kittens surgery so they told us they had to do it with flashlights only. After the surgery they "couldn't get a cone on her" because she "immediately woke up from being sedated and attacked everyone" (she's a tiny 9 month kitten). I guess medical professionals don't have any sort of equipment to handle a kitten just to get a cone on. Then left her unattended for FOUR HOURS so she could lick her stitches. We had been told we would receive a call when she was ready by 5pm but they failed to reach out to us and then put us on hold for 40 minutes before answering just to tell us to come pick up the kitten at 9pm. The whole 30 minute drive we kept a light on her because we were told to put the cone on her when we got her home and kept her distracted so she didn't lick her stitches. When we got her home she rolled over for pets while we were preparing to put the cone on her and HER ENTIRE WOUND WAS WIDE OPEN. HER STITCHES WERE COMPLETELY UNRAVELED. * The third trip happened the same night as the second operation where they just put some quick 10 minute staples into her. Then we were met with nothing but an abrasive attitude before we even spoke. We never received a hint of concern from them and it was pushed on to be our fault. The blonde, tan, short nurse lied to our faces and told us that a kitten that was awake enough to make it impossible for them to get a cone on at all "DID NOT LICK HERSELF FOR FOUR HOURS". My husband and my daughter went there today. The lady who came out called my husband a liar and was very rude and aggressive towards my almost due pregnant daughter..I talked to Lisa the office manager about the other lady and stood up for the lady but then said she wasn't out there to know what happened. So 2 different stories from Lisa!!! I have taken many pets there before but due to the way they treated my family today I will never go back. My job is short handed too but u CANT TREAT CUSTOMERS BAD BECAUSE YOU ARE SHORT HANDED!!! Customers are the reason you have a job remember that!!! Even the customers who were waiting with their cats were complaining about dealing with the lady saying she is so difficult and rude!!! read more

Low cost clinics usually smell like the inside of a well used litter box in a multi cat household--not so Clay County Humane Society. It's not posh but it's bright, airy and free of olfactory shriveling odors. Nicely run facility with pleasant staff and clean waiting room area. Efficient, timely and well organized. There's a glass case for buying merchandise supporting the humane society and colorful leashes. The only diabolical part of the clinic is the three story kitten cage full of adorable and adoptable felines that they place front and center. My own kitten was my main concern today though and he was well cared for. Kudos to this Humane Society for providing quality affordable health care for our beloved four legged friends. read more

I've been taking my pets to them for years but no more. I took my two dogs in for annual exams and the visit cost $656.00. $320.00 was for a year of Trifexis for the 2 dogs and $336.00 was for routine checkup and a rabies shot for one of them. They charged me a vet tech appointment of $10.00 per dog just to take them in to trim their nails, plus $12.00 per dog for the nail trim, a total of $44.00 for both dogs just for nail trim. They're more expensive than a regular vet and I'll be going to someone else in the future. read more

The people here are very nice but the problem is they overbook and rush you through. The wait time is also horrendous. Two incidents have made me decide to not go back. One, I took my dog in for a nail trim, one week later he died from lung disease, they didn't notice any lung sounds? Two, I took my other dog in not long after for check up and specifically asked them to trim his nails, they told me the quick was right at the end and they could not. Two weeks later I noticed same dog had dewclaw so long it had been imbedded in his footpad. I have had alot going on so did not notice til then but had asked vet to check his nails. I took him to Blue Pearl Emergency where they not only removed the embedded nail, but trimmed the rest with no problem, so they obviously were able to be trimmed. Vet there told me nail had been like that for some time. His nails are black therefore harder to trim, so it was obvious to me that Clay Humane did not even try, just rushed us out. I have taken my pets there and the people are helpful but these two seriously overlooked problems combined with the sometimes two hour wait is no longer acceptable. They need to book properly and maybe leave one hour a day for walk ins as if you call day of finding a pet problem you can NEVER get in. Too many vets around to put up with this. read more

On hold repeatedly during "open" hours for well over 10 mins never once speaking to a human. Finally gave up and contacted the Jax community vet who was able to answer the phone in less than 4 mins. Not sure how anyone gets in touch with anyone at clay humane to actually make an appointment as I have tried many MANY times for several weeks and as I said...I have yet to speak to an actual human being and since their phone setup gives no option to leave a message I had no opportunity to leave contact info for anyone to call back. If this vet is your only option I suggest going in person to schedule an appointment. Very disappointing Clay....I'll just keep driving to Jax, service there is FANTASTIC as are the employees and I have NEVER been on hold for them more than a few mins. I have used the free feral cat spay/neuter several times and they have been a great help to reduce the number of stray cats with new litters. I just trap the cat drop it off and pick it up later the same day, then keep the cat in my garage over night and release it the next day. They also include a rabies shot with the surgery. read more

This place is a joke. They have cats running around that they feed outside. Drove an hour there to get my dog fixed and they popped up with an additional $100 fee to do blood work and told me that they explained this when I made the appointment. Of course they did not I would have taken him to a real vet for that price. People running in and out with pit bulls pulling on their leash trying to get at my muzzled dog. It was a zoo and I had to wait a half an hour for a drop off at 7:45 in the morning with a nervous dog that had not eaten or drank for 12 hours. Not to mention our appt. was 2 months out for the earliest visit. read more

I made an appointment for my fur baby to get spayed. I had an emergency and I was not able to make the appt. I emailed the humane society and explained my situation and canceled it. I sent the email to the Jax humane society because I was unable to leave a voicemail on the Clay humane society due to their mailbox being full. I called today to reschedule and they will not honor my email. Even though I did send it to the human society and explained I was not able to leave a voicemail due to the mailbox being full they will not honor the reschedule and want another 70.00 from me. I will find another place. This is completely unethical I guess the humane society is only humane to animals not humans. The female manager who is working there today should be ashamed of herself. I was not able to leave a message because the mailbox was full. I could not find a place to leave a message but on the Jax humane society page. Shame on you! SMH! read more

I would give this Clinic a 5 star review for my first trip. Excellent staff, those we talked to were amazing and helpful and the vet got on the floor with my Great Dane and was just phenomenal. I gladly paid my $130 bill and set an appointment for a future trip and surgery (gastro rotation surgery and spay), that would cost around $300... and was excited to do it. It was the 2nd trip 2 days later that destroyed any and all chances of me using this vet again: We went to Clay Humane on 9/9/2018, by that night my Dane had diarrhea. She was playful and eating, but a constant flow every 30-45 minutes. I stayed up with her all night. To top it off my 3 year old son was also sick, so it made it a little worse. By Wednesday 9/11/2019 my Danes diarrhea had not lessened and I was on 2 nights no sleep. So I called Clay Humane and asked what their thoughts were. The pleasant lady on the phone said she made me and appointment for 10:30 and that was the end of the conversation. Unable to leave work, my Wife and still sick 3 year old son, got the Dane and took her to Clay Humane. Immediately on arrival they were told she may have Parvo (without being seen, fecal test, or any form of inspection), and told my Wife to sit in the car outside, with the dog and my sick child. Keep in mind, this is Florida, September, and 90+ degrees outside and the Dane has Diarrhea. They then proceeded to wait outside for 2 and a half hours, checking in every little bit to see when they would be seen by the vet. My wife witnessed pizza for the staff dropped off, several persons arrive after her and leave before her, and every time she went inside to check, the staff were laughing and joking around with no care she was still outside. My Wife allowed my Dane to use the bathroom in the grass and was scolded and yelled at by the office manager for "being inconsiderate about the other animals that could now catch Parvo from your dog", mind you all the tests 2 days prior were negative, and I was more than happy with the bill. At almost 3 hours, a tech walked out and took a fecal sample from my Dane ( I was on the phone with my wife when this happened, call log 1:22pm, still outside) A few minutes later the tech told my Wife that my Dane did not have Parvo, they could come inside. 15-20 minutes inside and my wife was presented with another bill for $176. This bill included a fecal test, an "emergency visit" fee (when we were just there 2 days prior) and the cost of the medications. When I called for an explanation of the bill, the office manager told me, "if we see your dog, you pay for us to see her", I asked how this was fair when she didn't have the diarrhea before the shots and then did a few hours later. The office manager proceeded to blame my Wife, to tell me that the dog couldn't be having a reaction to the shots, and that she charged because she seen my dog. Again, we did these tests 2 days prior and they were negative and my dog showed no signs of Parvo. The office manager became increasingly rude and continued to blame my wife, with no apologies for leaving them outside (with a Great Dane with diarrhea and a sick 3 year old child) while the staff enjoyed their lunch and saw other patients for 3 hours. She then told me that she told my wife about the charges when she set the appointment, when in fact I was the one who called and nothing was said. In fact nothing was said about pricing until the bill was handed to my Wife. I am happy to pay for medications my Great Dane needs, I am happy to pay for needed tests. But this is extreme and unnecessary. The callous and demeaning attitudes by the office manager, the disrespect shown to my wife, and the $300 total within 3 days I paid to have my dogs booster vaccines done will prevent me from ever stepping foot in this clinic again, not to mention cancelling the $300 surgery I was excited to have done; and letting everyone I work with, customers I see and family and friends in Clay County to be aware of the behavior and practices of this facility. read more

We had an appointment to put our 15 year old dog down this morning. It is definitely one of the hardest things to go through with your pet, aka four-legged family member, but the staff at Clay Humane made everything easier. Every staff member that we had an interaction with, was very kind, sensitive, compassionate, and supportive. Everyone was wonderful. Our tech was a family friend, which made things even easier to have her in the room with us. The doctor was amazing; very patient, kind, and supportive as well. The process was thoroughly explained to us beforehand, and as it was happening. Thank you Clay Humane! read more

Stay away at all cost. They told me my dog was in heart failure and probably wouldn't live another year,therefore she couldn't get the rabies shot because her heart couldn't take it. Double charged for X-rays because they didn't get it right the first time. Then wouldn't refill her medications without us coming in even thought it was earlier than her check up. Get there and they take her back for more X-rays and give the rabies shot to her without telling me,I just happened to see t on the bill. Trying. To get dog meds filled online so I don't have to deal with them in person and they're now refusing to authorize that. If I could give them NEGATIVE stars I would. You'd think I was trying to get narcotics for the dog... not a blood pressure and diuretic!!!! read more

Zero stars if I could! This place is a JOKE. Vet has no idea what she's doing. She actually prescribed an anxiety med and told me it was a pain pill (which I didn't find out until I switched vets)! My 120lb arthritic dog is on pain pills to manage his condition but EVERY single time he needs a refill it's practically an act of Congress to get. It takes half an hour for anyone to answer the phone, if you can even get through. Then the girls in the office are flat out rude and their manager Lisa is an even bigger B**** so speaking with her is useless. My dog was on one medication that could have caused liver issues and they refused to refill even though the vet had ordered refills. So we switched to a more gentle pain pill with the understanding that there would be no more issues with refills. Of course, they refused that medication the very next time he needed pills. I called a new vet, Buddy is on adequate pills now and haven't had one issue with the staff or refills. So BE WARNED this "vet" is populated by complete idiots. Also, I agree with other posters...not really low cost unless all you need is a quick rabies shot. read more
