Ann and Sandy are SO friendly and patient -- and you will talk to both of them throughout the class like they're lifelong friends. Ann walked us through 4 projects to get us familiar with how to work the clay, all the way up to using the pottery wheel. So much fun! We're looking forward to having our work shipped to us! They showcase multiple artists' work and have a few studios that you can walk through as well as the main gallery hall. The first floor has restrooms, the Southern Highlands Craft Guild shop and a Blue Ridge Parkway shop and an information desk. The second floor showcases the art. I love seeing all the different types of art from the quilts to woodworking to basket weaving. I enjoyed the stained glass and a canvas that was woven. It was quite unique. I enjoy the rotating exhibits as it is different each visit. Outside there are some trails if you want to explore nature.

This area is clearly marked with signage, a-frame signs with murals, coffee shops, studios and stores. Walk in the studios, see the artists at work, talk with them about their art. The Blue Ridge mountains, nature, and flora are prominent in lots of art, though there is so much more -- pottery, glass, textiles, photography, jewelry.... This was one of the highlights of our AVL trip.
