I feel beyond blessed for the treatment and experience I have received through my Thyroid diagnosis and surgery. My surgeon Dr. Hyunsuk Suh has shown compassion, attentiveness and expertise each step of the way. Every staff member I encountered treated me with respect and courtesy. I traveled from Minnesota to Tampa, FL and cannot express how professional my experience has been. Dr. Norman has truly established a world leading team and facility. I am forever grateful for my surgeon Dr. Suh and the entire staff at the Clayman Thyroid Center and Hospital for Endocrine Surgery.

I am nearing the one year anniversary of my surgery with Dr. Gary Clayman and I wanted to express my gratitude for him in a review. I was diagnosed with a large thyroid nodule when I was 21, and after a few years of it growing, my endocrinologist decide my cancer risk was too high. He referred me to Dr. Clayman despite him being out of network for my insurance- because he said that is who he would send his wife, mother, or sister to. Within about 6 months post-op my scar was nearly invisible. People who meet me now would never know I had surgery. Going into my surgery I was nervous, not for the scar, but for surgery itself, for the possibility of cancer, for my age, and even as a medical professional myself. Dr. Clayman's team are experts in their field and I felt nothing but trust while in his care. Thankfully my pathology was benign and while I do require thyroid supplement, I consider myself extremely lucky. I have friends who went to other surgeons for the same procedure and dealt with longer hospital stays, chronic vitamin deficiencies, larger scars, and sometimes multiple surgeries. If you are nervous, know that you are in good hands with Dr. Clayman.

The best part of 2021 was finding the Clayman Thyroid Center. Shortly before I was scheduled to have a thyroidectomy, I had misgivings about my surgeon and his refusal to consider a thyroid lobectomy. Plus, the way he spoke to me when I asked questions was beyond inappropriate and triggered a trauma response. I found Dr. Clayman, like so many thyroid cancer patients do, from looking online at articles about the various treatment options for papillary carcinoma. I was contacted directly via email by Dr. Clayman within 24 hours after submitting a question through his online portal, and I had my virtual consultant with Dr. Roy several days later. Dr. Roy answered all of my questions and made it very clear - I not only had choices but a thyroid lobectomy made perfect sense given the size, location, and lack of spread of my one growth. Everything about my Clayman Thyroid Center experience was wonderful. I had the opportunity to visit with Dr. Clayman, Dr. Roy, and Dr. Walsh the morning before surgery. I couldn't have felt safer, Covid-wise, in an individual suite, separate from all other patients, where I remained at all times except when I was in the operating room. And I remain pleasantly surprised that my pain after surgery was practically non-existent - just post-op swelling that abated within 2 weeks. My scar is almost gone 90 days later. And the best part of my experience was that based on genetic testing results, Dr. Clayman suggested evaluating my mother and likely saved her life too. Based on findings from her genetic testing, he made a different recommendation for her - a full thyroidectomy since she has MEN2 and had an almost 100 percent chance of developing medullary thyroid cancer. So, 6 weeks after my surgery, my mother and I returned to the Clayman Thyroid Center where she had a full thyroidectomy and an adrenal surgery with Dr. Carling from the Carling Center to remove tumors on her adrenal gland. Dr. Clayman's advice meant that my mom's medullary thyroid cancer, which was too early to be picked up by an ultrasound was removed while it was still small and localized. And, like me, she was able to be cancer free with a much more aggressive form of thyroid cancer with just one surgery - a surgery he arranged for her to have the day after her adrenal surgery. While it was a fair amount of work to travel from Las Vegas to the Tampa area two times within 6 weeks (since I traveled back with my mother when she had her surgery), I would stop what I'm doing and travel with any loved one to receive care at the Clayman Thyroid Center. They have mastered compassionate, patient-centered care with exceptional diagnostic and surgical treatment. After my mom's surgery, which was a bit more complicated than mine, Dr. Clayman stayed in phone contact with my mom to ensure she was healing and that her thyroid pill dosing was the right fit for her. I was also blown away by how much of my treatment my insurance covered, and I know that there are options for those whose insurance isn't taken. If you have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, or you have a growth where there's suspicion for malignancy, do whatever it takes to get to the Clayman Thyroid Center for evaluation and, if necessary, surgery. I weighed A LOT of options, and I know I made the absolute best decision for myself and, ultimately, for my mother too. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about any part of my amazing Clayman Thyroid Center experience.

My husband was so sick. He had lost around 40 + lbs due to a thyroid problem. He had a very large gorder on his neck that needed to be removed. He was scheduled to have it removed when hurricane Milton came through. Our Dr. and the scheduled hospital were unable to reschedule the surgery. We were in a local hospital at the time because he was so weak. We needed help and had no where to turn. Our daughter lives in another state up north and found this clinic on the internet. She was amazed and what she read about the Dr.'s and the Clayman Thyroid Center. She found a phone number and told me to call them. I did! Dr. Clayman and his staff are angels from heaven. Immediately they made us confident that they could and would get us through this. Shortly after our first visit, surgery was scheduled. After the thyroid and the gorder was removed, my husband began to recover. No problems. It went better than we could have hoped. Thank God. I can't tell you how scared we were. How desperately we were tring to find help. I felt like I was going to loose my husband. But they made everything better. My husband is healthy and happy today thanks to the Dr's and staff at the Clayman Thyroid Center. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! May God bless you all. read more
The absolute worst experience. Never met the assigned doctor, only their PA who did 5 biopsies. I was told they would consider RFA (which is why the biopsies were done despite my nodule size) but they refused even through the biopsies were benign and pushed me toward surgery. They also told me I would only be paying the initial fees prior to the evaluation (hospital and visit fees for scans) but then proceeded to bill me out of network for a radiology bill on top of that. Happy to remove my review if my experience changes. read more

From moment of arrival 10/3/24 to completion of my surgery 10/06/24 every step of the process was Nothing short of AMAZING!! Reception, scanning, pathology, extensive tests, comfort, reassurance, professionalism, and finally flawless surgery by Doctor Rashmi Roy, were all more than fantastic!! I left their wonderful facility with absolutely no pain and so glad that my wife and I chose to fly from Rochester New York down to Tampa Florida and choose Clayman Thyroid Center... One of the best choices in my life!! They deserve way more than the maximum amount of review stars in my opinion!! read more

I was not going to post this but wanted to warn others. A surgeon tried to remove half of my thyroid for having a nodule. I'm 35. They told me "we have to remove half your thyroid to then test to see if the nodule is cancer or not" they didn't even want to biopsy or test my thyroid function. (RED FLAG) I said NO WAY & went to a top endocrinologist he then biopsied my nodules and they were benign. He then tested my thyroid health via blood work. My thyroid is working just perfect. Moral of the story. Surgeons are quick to suggest surgery because they bill the insurance companies thousands of dollars thus they make way more money. This may not always be the best option for you. Always seek second opinions or even third opinions & don't always trust doctors. Also research RFA - Radiofrequency Ablation treatments this is an option certain specialists due to (shrink nodules). If your thyroid is working fine and you don't have cancer DO NOT REMOVE YOUR THYROID. It controls your entire body and you will be on thyroid meds your whole life and feel horrible for the rest of your life. Stear clear from here and seek alternative treatments. Also healing comes from within as well. Search Medical Medium - thyroid health on Amazon buy the book and heal yourself naturally! Drs are not going to tell you any of this because they would be out of business. read more

I flew to Tampa from Idaho for my biopsy and then for surgery. This place is amazing. It's team-based care so staff are always briefed and know what's going on. Every staff member was kind, thoughtful, and helpful from the reception desk to the nursing staff to the surgeons. I truly wish every hospital was like this. I would 100% recommend coming here. Just returned from the Clayman Thyroid Center and could not be more impressed. I firmly believe they are the best in the world at what they do. Having a surgical procedure on your throat is a very big deal and I'm so glad we made the effort to have it done there. Not only was the preparation for the surgery was second to none. Information was thorough and complete. I knew what to expect, how to prepare and how to behave during recovery. Every single team member was exceptional and I met and had conversations with all of the surgeons. Dr. Gary Clayman even visited me during recovery and discussed my prognoses with me and my wife. He was still in his "scrubs". If there are other "suspicious" nodules nearby, they take samples of them during the procedure and send them to the lab for evaluation. They have the results the following morning and call you to let you know if you need to return to have the other half of the thyroid removed as well. In my case, it was benign so I still have half my thyroid. We checked out of the hotel and went home. If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, call the experts at Clayman Thyroid Center. read more

Crooked, most unorganized facility I ever dealt with. All they cared about was getting money from me, even before my surgery even took place, they said they would not preform the surgery without me paying $3100 deposit. I paid it even though I didn't want to bc I was told I had to. After surgery, I start getting my bills in, and the math wasn't matching up, so I call them and they said I was suppose to be refunded the deposit bc insurance actually covered the amount. So Jeremy in billing kept telling me I would be getting an email to process the refund. A couple weeks later, I still didn't get it, so I start calling Jeremy regularly. He tells me the same thing every time "I'm not sure why you haven't gotten it yet. Let me reach out to my manager and expedite this for you and I'll have an answer for you hopefully by the end of the day." This was told to me several times. I called multiple times. On the last call, he tells me the same thing, we are going on 3 months after my surgery, I am getting hit with all this interest, etc. Jeremy tells me the same thing, so I told him "no forget it. I will just dispute this with my credit card company and you guys can take it up with them." I dispute the charge, it's approved and then a day later, Jeremy has followed through on his word. 3 months too late. Linda, the manager just calls me, incredibly rude woman, the first thing out of her mouth is "why did you dispute the charge? we sent you the money." I told her "don't be rude, I called several times and told Jeremy I was disputing after getting the run around with him." (They refunded me after I already disputed the charge and it was approved by the bank.) She said there's no notes or records of my calls and asks me to forward my email conversations, like I just told you I called, never emailed anyone so how can I forward an email conversation I never had. I told her I could email her my call log and show how many times I've called, she declined. She kept going on about no notes, and I told her that's something she needs to take up with her employees. If Jeremy emailed her every time I called like he said he was going to, she would have her answer there. Overall this establishment is full of rude, money hungry, unorganized people. If Linda would've talked to me like a decent human, maybe our conversation could've ended better and I wouldn't be here writing a review. Not sure how she is a manager with an attitude like that. On top of everything, the surgery was horrible too. Was misinformed about the location of where the incisions would be on my body, which made me extremely unhappy after removing my bandages 3 days post surgery. Plus, the surgery didn't even accomplish what it was suppose to. Before surgery I had hyperthyroidism, and now after surgery I have hypothyroidism. I regret this whole experience entirely and would never recommend this surgery center to anyone. Ever! read more

It's been a year since I had surgery at the Clayman Thyroid Center. My scar is almost invisible. Dr. Walsch performed my surgery, right thyroid removal. He was wonderful. He called me immediately after I applied online to see if they would take my case. He was very compassionate. The communication from every aspect was top notch. The anesthesiologist was super. He understood my concerns and had such wonderful bedside manner. I'm so grateful and pleased that I selected this healthcare facility. They provided such a caring environment. The hospital is clean and well kept. The testing is efficient. I was promised biopsy results the next morning and as promised I got the call. Priceless not having to worry for days. I can't say enough good things about this place. I'm grateful and blessed. read more

I live in San Diego, and we have pretty amazing doctors here. However, when my papillary thyroid cancer came back, I knew I needed THE BEST so that I have the best chance as a mommy of 3 little boys. I did my research and found Dr. Clayman. My recurrence was in a tough spot, and there was some risk of the surgery affecting my voice etc. And of course, the risk is higher in general for the second surgery. Dr. Clayman's work was flawless!!! The whole experience was top notch, and my husband and I almost felt like it was a mini vacation to Tampa. The pre-op evaluation was the most thorough evaluation I've ever experienced. The doctors projected confidence, and experience. During the surgery, anesthesiology, nurses, EVERYONE was so very nice and I felt like I was at a SPA and not a hospital (they even played SPA music for me in the operating room before I passed out!) I felt calm, even though I had a near-death experience in the operating room during my third C-section. When I woke up, my voice was perfectly fine, and my calcium levels were good, too! I felt amazing. Dr. Clayman saved everything that needed saving, and got rid of all the cancer. I was able to go to the hotel the same day, and rest in the comfort of my suite (Hyatt hotel on their recommendation list was awesome!). Dr. Clayman ALWAYS addressed my concerns, follow ups, etc. and called or emailed me during off-hours on more than one occasion, including when I got back to San Diego and had questions about my temporary hypocalcemia (which fully resolved by the way!) I highly recommend Dr. Clayman and his center to anyone who is looking for a surgeon. read more

This organization is CROOKED- all about money & doesn't truly care about the patient's feelings or wellbeing. I received a phone call that Dr. Roy was reviewing my medical records & that she would be calling me. When I spoke with Dr. Roy on the phone, she told me she felt that I needed to have the left lobe of my thyroid removed & that she would like to try to leave the right lobe. Surgery was set for January. I was informed that I would owe a $1,500 "evaluation fee" out of pocket, I questioned why this wasn't going through insurance. I was informed by Jeremy they don't bill it to insurance. The day before surgery, I received a phone call for pre-registration. The woman informed me that I owed a $5,095 "facility fee" that needed to be paid. I stated that neither Nicole or Jeremy in billing mentioned this fee, & that I had already paid what I owed. After several attempts to have me pay this fee, the woman made the comment "this shouldn't affect your surgery tomorrow" before getting off the phone. The morning of the 17th, after checking in, we were greeted by the woman I spoke to the evening before. As we are in a lobby full of people, she made the comment, "So you can't pay any of the facility fee today? I'll take whatever you can give me". I stated again, no, I paid what I was told I would owe. We make it to her office & she told me she would be giving me an iPad & that I would be filling out important paperwork before the evaluation/surgery can get started. Then tells me if I pay the facility fee today, I'll only have to pay $1,095. NO. Then she tells me she will just bill me, but now it's $1,500. Then says "oh you aren't paying today that's right, you don't need this iPad anymore, I just need to make some changes in the computer." So just because I'm not paying a facility fee I no longer have important surgery paperwork to fill out? We are then taken to an exam room. The ultrasound tech was unfriendly,& hardly spoke to us except briefly about my husband's job, & when she asked if I had Hashimoto's, to which I replied no. She mentioned it was in my chart, & I stated that I did not have it & that I had already experienced the confusion of having things in my chart that did not apply to me. She stated there was nothing on the ultrasound & that I was perfectly fine. I mention the other ultrasounds I have had done & what they found. The woman got snippy & told me that her supervisor will come in but pointed to the screen & said "ok yes, there are three tiny cysts, but they are nothing". She leaves, & another woman comes in & briefly scans over my thyroid then leaves. At this point, I'm honestly confused. Dr. Roy comes in, throws her hands up & stands there giving me a look that made me feel like I wasn't welcomed before making the comment "I thought you had all these nodules & a goiter" BEFORE introducing herself & the practice manager. Which was strange to me. I said I was confused because I had multiple ultrasounds stating I had a multi-nodular goiter. One specifically where most of my pain is. Dr. Roy stated she doesn't "rely on other hospitals scans because they often lie & find things that aren't really there". Now, remember back to when they requested these scans & then the phone call where she decided based off the scans & my symptoms that I needed surgery. How are these scans good enough to get me to pay all this money, fly all the way to Tampa, try to get me to pay even more money, & when I don't - suddenly these scans are lies? She then proceeds to stare at me for a while then tells the practice manager to bring me tissues. I wasn't crying. She then asks what symptoms I have & questions if I have ever been diagnosed with Hashimoto's. I tell her I have always tested negative. She says she will run bloodwork to check for antibodies, but other than that just enjoy the vacation. They leave the room, & not even 20 seconds later I hear a knock. Thinking it's someone coming to draw blood, instead, it's the ultrasound tech. Who then proceeds to say, "I just wanted to make sure you're getting dressed because you need to leave". So we walked ourselves out. Days later I get an email that lab results had been posted. I log in just to see an ultrasound report mentioning 3 thyroid cysts & measurements that Dr. Roy said weren't there. We are out of $11,000 from out-of-pocket expenses, hotels/air bnb's, ubers, food, and time off of work just to be treated awfully by the staff here. This is just the shortened version of my review, due to character limits. This place is all about money, & they treat you accordingly to how much they can get out of you. read more

I had 1/2 of my thyroid removed at Clayman in Tampa General. I went the day before to be seen at the hospital and the following morning early like I had to be at the hospital. I hadn't ate or drank after midnight. I didn't get operated on until 5pm. I was exhausted. The was way to long. After my surgery my pulse oxygen was 80 and I heard the nurse tell the doctor she thought I needed to stay in the hospital not go back to the hotel. I guess he didn't agree and I heard her kind of getting upset with him about it and then he agreed with me staying overnight. They put me on a c pap machine that night. Looking back this clinic was unprofessional on different levels and I thank God the nurse stood strong read more

I'm absolutely 100% incredibly grateful to have gotten my lobectomy at Dr. Clayman's Center!! Follicular and Hurthle Cell "identified nodules by biopsy", MUST have a lobectomy to determine benign or cancerous activity in them, & I am grateful to have been found benign! Everyone there was wonderful & pleasant, thank you!! And, these are also my thoughts, being openly shared here, regarding Terri's review, as my thoughts may help shed light on her review, as well as help anyone else with a better understanding of the mysterious world of cancer: I'm a breast cancer survivor & I read thoroughly Terri's review about Dr. Clayman & his reply. I am, in no way, "dismissing her feelings of upset", but from what I read & what I know to be true of cancer, is this: Terri had definite pre-cancerous changes of the nodule & lymph nodes happening in her thyroid, for sure & without, really knowing what was communicated at her appointments, she didn't have unnecessary surgery. But, her nodule's growth & lymph node changes were cells beginning to go "crazy" & were, most assuredly, going to "become" cancer. As your signs & symptoms were fully showing cellular changes & growth. Micro-calcifications are "pre-cancerous" cellular changes & it's why my breast oncologist agreed with me that I should have a double mastectomy, when it was shown that I had these changes on the "non-cancerous" side. Terri is what we call a "pre-vivor", in the cancer community, since it was caught & stopped before becoming completely cancerous. I'm shedding light on her review, from the fact that I dived into learning about cancer in 2010 with my breast cancer diagnosis & treatments & this is what I know to be true. read more

Hello, My name is Robert Gordon. I am currently a fire fighter for the Department of Defense and have been for 15 years. Prior to being a firefighter, I was a US. Army Airborne Ranger in 1st Ranger Battalion and severed in Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the world in support and defense of our nation. First, I want to talk about the diagnosis. In october of 2013 I was diagnosed with MTC. The original doctor I went to in Savannah Ga told me he wanted to do surgery the next week. Told me it was important and he needed to have me on the table within days. Of course a cancer diagnosis is a very scary outcome of a doctor's appointment, but to have him telling me surgery within almost hours was how we were going to attack this was even more terrifying. So I paused. I asked him how many times he had done this& surgery and his response was "this would be my second". I got up and walked out. I decided that I needed to know more about what I was up against. That's when I found Dr. Clayman. I made my appointment and within a few days I was there in front of him. His demeanor, his confidence and his knowledge was an instant relief. He explained the situation with a straight forward approach and when I asked how many surgeries he had performed like mine, He laughed and said "well, this is like 150, this year". I knew I was in the right place with the right doctor. I have 3 children and I told Dr. Clayman that I do not fear death, I only feared all the things I would not get to see. He assured me that he would do everything within his power to help me capture that time. My surgery was a resounding success and as of now I have no signs of cancer. I have learned a lot about my cancer in the past 5 years. I learned that the most important thing is the first surgery! That sets the tone for the treatment. You have maybe one shot to get it all. Before scar tissue makes it harder for success down the line. There is no other person I would have wanted to do my surgery and I am so fortunate Dr. Clayman was my surgeon. My surgery went so well that I was back to work within 6 weeks. Dr. Clayman helped me not only fight cancer, but he alsohelped me get back into the service of others faster. I have been privileged to know many great men in my life and blessed with being in a military unit that upheld quality in its members. So I am no stranger to walking in the presence of great men and Dr. Clayman is a great man. Good at heart, professional, and most importantly he is the best at what he does. I am honored to call him a friend. Robert read more

Dr. Clayman of the Thyroid Cancer Center in Tampa performed surgery on my thyroid while Dr. Politz of Norman Parathyroid Center removed two parathyroid tumors during the same operation. I found it essential to find two experts with vast experience to do two operations in one, so I flew in from Maryland. The team was all I could hope for. Dr. Clayman is well known, accomplished, and extremely experienced, as is Dr. Politz. The anesthesiologist was also very good. I highly recommend Dr. Clayman, and the entire team. Amazing experience!!!! When I first researched the Clayman center and the team, I thought it may be too good to be true. I assure you it is all true. They are amazing. Had I stayed in Arizona with my local surgeon, I may have had to have a total thyroidectomy and been on medication for the rest of my life. Or I may have had to have radiation or multiple surgeries. Clayman cured me in the most efficient way. And there's not enough words to describe the kindness I experienced there. I told Dr. Clayman my mom wanted me to hug him so I was 'virtually' hugging him for her. He came over and gave me a hug. He was so kind to me and my husband. All the staff was amazing!!!! I am so thankful for people like them that carry not only the knowledge but the compassion! read more

Dr Clayman saved my life!! I have had Hashimoto's for 18 years and was completely disabled from it, stress made it go out of control to the point that I couldn't work and was going to have to go on disability. I discovered a new study that stated Hashimoto's patients who removed their thyroid "got their lives back!" I contacted him though his website form and HE CALLED ME HIMSELF on a Saturday at 1030 am! He spoke to me for about 30 min and knew the exact study I was referencing and he agreed to take my case! I flew all the way from Utah to Florida to get the surgery and it was SOOOO worth it! I was able to go back to work in a week and I haven't missed a day since! THANK YOU SO MUCH DR CLAYMAN!!! You are the best doctor I have ever encountered. Keep up the great work! His team was awesome as well, extremely helpful and kind. Great people! ;-) read more

Thank you Dr. Clayman! Dr. Clayman and his team performed a radical neck dissection on me on 12/5/17 for recurrent PTC. I have the highest regards for and recommend Dr. Clayman and his team for Thyroid surgery. Dr. Clayman is the absolute best at what he does and is off the charts in terms of surgical skill, knowledge, risk calculation, compassion, bedside manner, communication, and most importantly: managing expectations. I have no complaints. Dr. Clayman is the most accessible doctor I have ever met in my life. The man personally delivered a Rx script to our hotel -on a Saturday morning- to my room and checked my incision was healing ok. This doctor truly lives the mission of saving people's lives, it's in his DNA. I have an ear to ear scar from a previous surgery (22 years ago in 1995 when I was 11) which he cleaned up the external incision and also cleaned up the internal scar bands. This was a bonus. I can already tell it's going to look great and I'll likely have better head/neck movement. I was very clear w/ Dr. Clayman that I needed to wake up with my voice and I did. I have cancer involved with my only functioning nerve and we made a joint decision before surgery to spare the nerve above anything else. My family was also very pleased with the process. The nurses called my wife every hour/every milestone during surgery and Dr. Clayman himself explained the outcomes to them prior to my waking up. He is in the process of building the new facilities, the current facilities being used are fine. Tampa General is a very nice hospital, good nurses, staff, food, clean, etc. A special thank you to staff members Jason, Jolene, Joan, Charlie, Caroline and Tiffany (and everyone else) - you all are great at what you do and thank you for enabling Dr. Clayman to save my life. I found Dr. Clayman through a very intensive, methodical search for the best surgeon in the world. I submitted my intake the day before labor day and he called me at 7am on labor day first thing. He's gone above and beyond every expectation from my first interaction with him. We had a great discussion, as he is very empathetic and connected with my case directly! He knew exactly what I was describing and his experience was evident. I quickly scheduled an in person consultation. I'm sure Dr. Clayman had a lot going on that day but he made me feel like he was working only my case the whole day. Read my results right from the scans and spent all the time my wife and I needed to ask all the questions we had. Go to Dr. Clayman if you need surgery for Thyroid issues. Thyroidcancer.com is the best site for thyroid cancer information. It's relevant and easy for patients to consume. Dr Clayman and his team were exceptional! Their care and attention to detail not only allowed my ENTIRE process to go smoothly and without issue; but there were no surprises or problems that occurred. I contacted another physician the same day I filled out Dr Clayman's patient intake form. The other physician's office made my 1st initial appointment 3 months later. Dr Roy, colleague of Dr Clayman at the Clayman's Thyroid Center contacted me the next day as well as their schedule coordinator and I not only had an appointment for initial evaluation, blood work and ultrasound within 2 weeks but was also scheduled for surgery 1 1/2 weeks after that; and that's only because of MY work schedule. I had surgery, discharged home and completely healed and back to a normal healthy life 2 months before I would have had the initial visit with the other physician. My biggest complement was their professionalism and service. I can not say enough about their website either. Any question you might have was already answered and detailed descriptions about potential avenues of care. They even included videos, so there were literally no surprises!!! I just can't say enough about Dr Clayman and his team. This is always a scary thought that you might cancer, the "Big C" but I felt confident that even if it had been (which Thank God it wasn't) that I was ALWAYS in good hands! Jamie G read more

I had nodules on the right side of my thyroid found on a routine ultrasound body scan. I was referred to Dr Clayman by a family member. I can't say enough about Dr Clayman & his staff. It was such an efficient process to get to see him. My first appointment was for an ultrasound, biopsy, & bloodwork (all done in the same exam room). He determined my right side needed removed. It took about 2 hours & I knew the results that day. I made an appointment that day with Sean (also came to my exam room) for surgery. On surgery day, the staff were more like my friends than strangers. Jenna was my nurse & I think she was assigned to only me for the entire day (at least she made me feel that way). My friend drove me & stayed for the 6 or 8 hours I was in the hospital. She was allowed to spend most of the time with me rather than waiting in a waiting room. They texted her when I went into & during surgery, and Jenna called her when I was out. Dr Clayman's voice was the first one i heard when i woke up (he let me know there was no cancer in my lymph node & surgery went well). Dr Roy also came in to go over my procedure, which was removing only the right side with the nodules & a lymph node under it. Jenna was there to be sure I was comfortable & not painful. They had my friend come back with me. After an hour or 2 we were on our way home. The entire staff, (including the front office, nurses, anesthesiologists, and Doctors) were incredible. They were genuinely caring professionals who are at the top of their game! read more

There is no better feeling when facing major surgery, that you are in the best hands possible. Definitely how I felt when I needed to have my thyroid out last week. My endocrinologist highly recommended that I see Dr Clayman's group. Research shows they are the best in the country, if not the world! I was lucky enough to get an appt. they have an option where you get everything done in one day, the consult, testing and surgery. The Dr's email you and call you directly. The day of surgery, Unfortunately it was a super busy day there so my wait was very long. I sucked up my hunger pains knowing I was in good hands. Everyone was very nice. They consulted with me after reviewing my tests and recommended a total thyroidectomy. I agreed and everything went as planned. They were so careful with my surgery. Top notch surgeons. Spent the night at TGH. Melissa the PA checked on me the next day. I had an issue with my calcium levels and texted Melissa after I was home. She called me right away. I really appreciated being able to reach someone on the weekend. I am a few days post surgery and healing well! I don't think I would have gotten better care anywhere in the country and I am lucky enough to live 45 mins away! Please don't hesitate to fly here from anywhere to have them do your delicate surgery. Thank you Dr. Clayman, Dr. Roy, Dr. Walsh and Melissa! read more

Dr. Clayman and his staff saved my life. I had a total thyroidectomy in March of 2021 for Follicular Variant Papillary Thyroid Cancer. I am 18 months post-op, and my Thyroglobulin and Thyroid Antibody levels are negligible which means I am cancer free. I never needed radioactive iodine treatment or a whole body scan. My voice is clear and I have no nerve problems. I thank God every day for him and his team. And, my scar is nearly invisible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. read more

I drove from Miami to Tampa after doing all my research and finally after seeing 3 surgeons in Miami I chose Dr. Gary Clayman and Staff. I have never seen a more organized Dr.'s office in my 40 years. Dr. Gary Clayman and Dr. Roy Rashmi are definitely the best surgeons you will ever find, I had sent and emailed all my lab and scan work before I went to Tampa General Hospital, Clayman Thyroid Center and then they sent me a personalized expert opinion report booklet explaining every expert opinion describing my surgery I needed, which no other surgeons even thought of doing. Claymen Center did their own testing with the state of the art medical equipment you could ever imagine, 4 hours of non stop testing the day before surgery. After receiving all the facts relating to my situation I felt even more confident than ever after 5 years searching for the right solution. Dr. Roy came in before surgery drew a line on my neck and told me that her and Dr. Clayman were both doing my surgery together, so I felt great to have two of the best surgeons in the world. My surgery was different than most because even though you couldn't see the bulges on both sides of my neck unless you were looking for it, or I was getting a checkup from a family doctor. My goiters were 9 inches long on the right side and 11 inches on the left which was headed down toward my heart, they were the size of a cantaloupe or honeydew melon to give you an idea, when I show people the photos they can't even believe it. The goiters were hiding in my neck and in my chest. The nurses were phenomenal enough for me to memorize their names Mariela, Loniece, Joanna, Julian, Amanda, and Kristie, Dr, Foley and at checkout time the orientation for recovering Sara and also the head nurse Charlie . The nursing staff checked on me every hour after my surgery. Mariela noticed my neck hours after my surgery there was swelling and a red and purple color and she called Dr. Clayman right there in front of me on her cell, surprisingly he was there in 10 minutes even so it was 12:30 am at night. He looked at me and said Jay everything is Ok but I don't want to take any risk so I am going to take you back into surgery, so I patted him on the shoulder and said Yes Sir. He started pushing my hospital bed on wheels along with 2 nurses into an operating room, when I entered the operating room I noticed in just 2 minutes a staff that I counted of 14 and I was freaking out. Dr. Clayman said Jay don't worry I've got this totally under control you are going to be fine, so then I felt relieved. The President couldn't of received better care than I was getting at that moment. Dr. Clayman notified my wife before and after the second surgery explaining to her that I had a Hematoma which evidently is a localized bleeding outside of blood vessels due to trauma from surgery and may involve blood continuing to seep from broken capillaries, most likely related to the giant size of my goiters. I had my complete thyroid removed and of course I felt warn out after having a second surgery, but at the same time I realize that Dr. Clayman and Dr. Roy and staff saved my life for real and now here I am 9 days later feeling well enough to sit here and tell my story. Before my discharge Dr. Roy came and then Dr. Clayman, and sense then they both called to check up on me and told me everything looks perfect. Dr.Clayman is an excellent surgeon and the scar is healing perfect and I don't think it going to even be noticeable at all, by the way I had my own room in the Tampa General Hospital which makes it really nice and comfortable even under surgery circumstances. read more

Dr. Clayman and his staff did an excellent job while I was under his care for the removal of my thyroid. From the time I arrived till I left his facility I was treated with nothing but respect and concern about my operation by his whole staff. Dr Clayman's associates Dr. Roy and Dr. Walsh both took the time to explain things to me in a way I could understand and I knew they were not just trying to get done and move on to the next patient. Of course the best part of the whole experience was when I got the call from the facility that I am cancer free and do not need any other type of followup procedures. If you have problems with your thyroid I can say with the utmost confidence that this is the only place to go to have your procedure done. read more

Dr. Clayman and his ENTIRE staff are the closest things to a miracle that I have ever experienced. For the last ten years, I have been ignored by multiple doctors and specialists telling me I am crazy, hysterical, or that all of my symptoms were just in my head. They repeatedly ignored abnormal blood test results, a nodule, a cyst and an enlarged thyroid because it wasn't "severe enough to treat" so for ten years I went in and out of hypo and hyperthyroidism. Along with this, I am a vocalist. I graduated from Berklee College Of Music and right around the time these symptoms started I also started having a lot of vocal issues. vocal fatigue, the voice cutting in and out and coughing fits. Still, no one would listen. They threw antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds my way each visit. I followed their advice to a T, I changed my diet, I tried to go to sleep at the same time every night, which is difficult when you have insomnia. I played everything by their book and I was failed time and time again. This last year I became a shadow of myself. I lost thirty pounds because I couldn't eat- I am already pretty small. My appetite was gone and each time I forced myself to eat I was throwing it right back up because my body was so anxiety-ridden that it was literally rejecting the food, I fell into a deep depression, slept maybe two hours a night, chronically fatigued to the point where I could feel it in my bones. I cried on and off most days, and lost complete motivation for anything. In a last-ditch effort I went to a nurse practitioner who agreed to refer me to a specialist (even that took convincing but since my labs were "somewhat abnormal", she agreed) I was hopeful about the specialist she referred me to... I should have known better. He sat me down in his office and said the only thing I suffer from is hysteria. Yes, in 2019 that is something that some male doctors still tell women apparently. Who knew. Anyways, I left there feeling lower than I had in my entire life. I felt helpless, crazy, and almost believed him. Until my mom found Dr. Clayman. This man has saved my life and I write this with tears in my eyes a week and a half out of my surgery. I went online, filled out all of my information, and sent him my labs. He PERSONALLY called me not even 20 mins later. No doctor has ever called me personally, nor have they ever gotten back with me that fast! I thought for sure he was going to tell me the same thing I had heard multiple times from everyone else, but I was wrong. He diagnosed me with Hashimotos Thyroiditis and told me it wasn't in my head it was in my neck. I just about broke down right then and there. For the first time in ten years, I had someone who was listening to me and not telling me I was crazy. He was very surprised and a little worried that my nodules had been there for so long with no one following up on it. I live in Kansas City and was scheduled for surgery two weeks later. I specifically sought out Dr. Clayman because he is one of the only specialists that can do the surgery without damaging the vocal folds, which my livelyhood depends on. I woke up already noticing a difference. I thought "well this has to be just a placebo effect" I woke up with very little anxiety, I wasn't freezing to death (usually I would require a hoodie in 80-degree weather) and my heart rate was down from a "normal" 155 to 60. So the proof was right in front of me. I am just so thankful and forever indebted to this man and his ENTIRE staff. They saved my life. Because I can't imagine how I could have continued to live like that. I am already singing again, and though my voice is going to take a little longer to be fully back to normal, I am already singing without any pain and I forgot what that was like. Moral of this novel, don't go see any other doctor. Dr. Clayman is the best of the best and he truly cares about his patients! He even personally called me a week after to check up on me and to set me up with a doctor here back home to get regular blood work done. I wish Dr's like him weren't such a rarity, but they are. My only regret is that I didn't meet him sooner. I feel better and better each and every day. If this is what a week and a half later feels like, I can't wait to see how much better I feel in a month, a year, and the rest of my life. Thank you Dr. Clayman, thank you to your staff, you guys are saving so many lives and there will never be enough words to express how grateful I am for you guys! -Marnie read more

Dr. Clayman and all the staff were nothing short of amazing. This was one of the most organized experiences I've had with any doctors office or hospital from the very beginning. I had a FaceTime call with Dr. Walsh the following morning after I put my information into their system the night before and had an appointment for surgery the following week. It all happened so fast and I'm thankful because they did find cancerous cells in my lymph nodes. I am still waiting on my pathology report from the removed thyroid lobe and nodule, but fingers crossed that comes back benign. Thank you all for the excellent care. Myself and my family thanks you. read more

Three doctors in the month of January missed my kinda large, 2.6 cm left sided thyroid tumor. The sad fact is, not one of them actually touched me and even I didn't notice the bulge in my neck. While seeking alternative health care, I met with an older gentleman, a former family practitioner, and my thyroid tumor was discovered. Right away in fact! This doctor honed into my neck like a bee to honey and kindly said "my dear, you have a thyroid tumor." The research ensued... With minimal research, "Dr. Gary Clayman" -- "Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center" -- comes up over and over, the updated website containing a wealth of current knowledge paired with the shining testimonials is evidence something very good is happening here. The only surgeon in my area did "about 35" thyroidectomies a year and he immediately advised taking my whole thyroid from the get go without even seeing me. Something I knew could be a possibility but I felt Dr. Clayman's approach was better - see what we are dealing with as we progress through surgery and go from there - that was my preferred approach as well. Having several surgeries under my belt, I am a firm believer that less is more and our bodies should be minimally invaded if at all possible. Having cytology and a host of other technologies on site during surgery is imperative to a successful outcome. Unfortunately, I was having much heart racing, bad sleep, crushing anxiety and all those wonderful hyperthyroid type symptoms in the three months leading up to my surgery. And after finding out a thyroid tumor was causing this, I could not wait to have it removed! I would soon get my biopsy completed locally and it was confirmed to be a papillary carcinoma. After this, I spoke with the Dr. Clayman's office and was scheduled for surgery within just two weeks! This expediency I was grateful for and I thank the office crew for their always kind and swift communication. I flew to Tampa and would have my surgery the next morning. I've had many surgeries at good hospitals, Beth Israel, UC San Diego, Cleveland, etc...but all of them have paled in comparison to Tampa General. I've never been to a hospital that was so organized, clean, secure and truly put the patient first. Everything was on time, and the vibe was calm. At 5:30am, I had the best ultrasound of my life, was very thoroughly informed about the procedure, asked many safety questions and then off to the pre-op I went. And here is where the real difference shined bright...all of the staff -every-single-person- was HAPPY. Everyone truly seemed to love their profession and clearly had my best interest in mind. This is so extremely rare in today's health care world. The kind Dr. Frankenthaler came in to chat surgery, then Dr. Clayman visited. He was so reassuring and thorough in my surgery explanation making it very clear we would plan for a lobectomy but if any lymph involvement or metastasis was found, the whole thyroid would be removed. And that's it...I was wheeled in to surgery...two or so hours later, I was awake and being very well cared for by my nurse team. My husband was called and texted throughout the whole surgery process as well thus keeping him up to date on my procedure and outcome before I even woke up! Dr. Clayman again visited me to make sure I was doing well and explained that he just took 1/2 of the thyroid (thyroid lobectomy with isthmusectomy) and I was cancer free. Yeah! I was very well guided out of and through the hospital and personally taken to the pharmacy. I went home that evening and experienced very little pain, etc. I was up and at it a few days later and flew home four days later. Tampa is a great art filled city; perfect for strolling post-surgery! I was sent my surgery report, pathology and photos of my tumor which I loved seeing! You can barely even see my incision and although scarring is of no matter to me, I'm fairly certain it will be invisible within a year. I had a few hyperthyroid issues popping up but a couple quick emails to Dr. Clayman with near instant response, put my mind at ease and he was right; it takes awhile for things to regulate. I have a follow-up ultrasound and blood work soon with a local endocrinologist (I was advised to pre-book prior to surgery) and we'll go from there. I feel confident knowing I can contact the Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center at anytime should I have any questions or concerns. It's evident from the amazing service and care I received through this entire scenario that Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center is a premier place to go and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I can not stress enough you must be your OWN health care advocate, you must put in the research, make calls, ask questions, etc. do not settle. Dr. Clayman is the TOP of his profession. You will not find anyone else more qualified, caring or knowledgeable, this I am sure of. Many, many thanks to everyone at Tampa General that helped me get through this health hiccup. read more

Procedure dates by Dr. James Norman and Dr. Gary Clayman - October 3 & 4, 2017 At 15 years of age, I had my thyroid removed as a preventive measure for medullary thyroid cancer. Then approximately 17 years later I began to develop two different health issues at one time. My family physician referred me to a specialist in Cleveland, Ohio, due to a rise in my calcitonin level which indicates a cancerous tumor developing somewhere (probably in tissue left behind from my thyroid removal). Around the same time, it was discovered that I was developing a tumor on my parathyroid gland as well (rarely cancerous). Multiple tests and scans were performed and these tumors could not be located. Exploratory surgery was performed to try and find my parathyroid tumor. This surgery resulted in the removal of three good parathyroid glands, but not the bad parathyroid gland. The doctors indicated that maybe I had an abnormal anatomy and at some point I might need my chest bone opened to explore that area for the parathyroid gland that contained the tumor. Shortly after I had the parathyroid surgery, in researching my health problems, I found information about the Norman Parathyroid Clinic. Everything seemed too good to be true, but we always kept this facility in mind. Several years later I switched to a specialist closer to home. I asked if she had ever heard of Norman Parathyroid Clinic and she said they had helped a patient of hers. Over the years she attempted to find my cancerous tumor, but nothing ever showed up in my tests and scans (even though my calcitonin levels continued to rise). My symptoms from my parathyroid tumor were beginning to get worse. It had been over 20 years since my second surgery and each time we tried to locate the cancerous tumor it was not found. I decided to address the tumor on my parathyroid because by this time I was growing tired of the multiple kidney stones, all the tests that this kept requiring, and all the time off from work due to several kidney stone surgeries. It was time to try the Norman Parathyroid Clinic. The multiple surgeries I had made my case more difficult and there was no guarantee that my parathyroid tumor could be found. The entire process, working with the staff at Norman Parathyroid Clinic, was so easy and they were so professional and wonderful to work with. The consultation was completed by phone and I was told that I was not an easy case. Due to all the scar tissue from previous surgeries there was no guarantee that the parathyroid tumor would show up on the Sestamibi scan and be located but they were willing to try. I arrived in Tampa, had my Sestamibi scan, and the tumor showed. While waiting in the prep room for my mini-surgery, Dr. Norman stops in to talk and we discussed my high calcitonin levels and I inquired if this surgery would take care of this as well. He informed me that this was an entirely different issue and after discussing the medical history regarding this that he was postponing the surgery until the next day. He stated that he was going to get the thyroid cancer specialist, Dr. Clayman, to see me for a consult and more tests would need to be ran and there was no way in good conscious could he perform his parathyroid surgery before this had been checked out. Dr. Clayman came in for his consult and ordered testing, which led to biopsies that showed the cancer. A dual surgery was then scheduled for the following day. Dr. Norman handed me over to Dr. Clayman so he could perform the surgery to remove my medullary thyroid cancer, but Dr. Norman would perform his surgery to remove the parathyroid tumor. Cancer was found in my neck and on a nerve near my vocal cord, if it had been left much longer I would have lost my voice. After surgery the aching in my legs cleared up immediately. My parathyroid hormone levels have dropped from over 100 to 9 and my calcium levels are now within normal range. Calcitonin levels have dropped from around 300-400 to less than 2. I received the most professional, loving care from everyone that was involved in my care including all the staff at the Norman Parathyroid Clinic, the Thyroid Cancer Center, Tampa General Hospital and especially Dr. James Norman, Dr. Deva Boone and Dr. Gary Clayman. Not only did they treat me as a close friend or a relative, they also treated my wife with excellent hospitality. The care did not end after the surgery though, I have been in touch daily with Dr. Boone for updates and instructions and this was at their request. I highly recommend the Norman Parathyroid Clinic and The Thyroid Center and wish I had known about them earlier and sought treatment from them prior to previous surgeries. The Norman Parathyroid Clinic and the Thyroid Cancer Center was truly a blessing to me and I could not be more thankful for everything I experienced during this past year with them! I am not ordinarily one to fill out surveys or to fully trust testimonials. So I have chosen to tell about my experience at the Norman Parathyroid and Clayman Cancer Center a few weeks after I returned home. I wanted to see how my follow-up would be handled too. To begin, I was diagnosed with an unusually located parathyroid tumor and Graves diseases. After long distance telephone consultations with Dr. Kevin Parrack regarding my parathyroid surgery and Dr. Gary Clayman regarding my thyroid surgery, the decision was made to make the trip to Tampa. On the way there, I told my husband that I was preparing myself to be "just a number" in the surgery process. Wow, I could not have been anymore incorrect! Since I was having both surgeries, I was considered a "dual patient" and required a pre-day surgery evaluation as well as an overnight observation stay in the hospital. On the day of the evaluation, I met Charlie Schreiner, ARNP and Dr. Gary Clayman. My husband and I were talked to like we had know these gentlemen, not like strangers at all. We were made to feel very comfortable and everything was fully discussed and explained. The morning of surgery, I had a great pre-op team with Jason and Barbara at my bedside getting me ready. I also met with Dr. Parrack and Dr. Rashmi Roy, who assisted Dr. Clayman with my thyroid surgery. Such kind and compassionate people. Next I met Mannny who told me he would be with me in the surgery. We had a nice discussion about his beautiful native Puerto Rico. I also met my anesthesiologist, Dr. David Samuels. I had voiced a concern to him I had regarding my lungs. He assured me everything would be fine. Before I knew it I was being wisked off to surgery. I met several people on my surgery team. Wow were they all busy doing their respective jobs. They did however, stop to say hello, wave, and smile at me! I looked around and there was Manny. I held his hand, the anesthesiologist said I had about 20 seconds, and that is the last thing I remember prior to waking up in recovery. My husband said Michelle had been posted at my bedside since I had been in recovery and she did not leave me until I was fully conscious. Super attentive. One thing I could hardly believe was, Dr. Samuels came to my bedside to put my lung concern to rest by telling me he saw nothing wrong. Where does this level of compassion and concern happen? These people and this place are unbelivable! Charlie, whom I'd met during my evaluation, also stopped by to check on me. Amazing! He is a wonderful young man and is so caring and thoughtful. You would have thought we were old friends rather than me being a new patient. Then Dr. Clayman and Dr. Parrack came to my bedside to check on me. They said I did great and the surgeries were successful. Such skilled surgeons! After lunch I was taken to the main hospital to spend the night for observation. Dr. Parrack called me that evening in the hospital to see how I was doing, unbelivable! I received great care in the main hospital as well. The next morning, Beth from the parathyroid team, Charlie, and Dr. Rashmi Roy all stopped to see me prior to being discharged. Have I said "What caring people and what a place?" It is amazing how individualized this treatment made you feel during this trying time. Five days after surgery I was back home and got a call from Charlie advising me that all of my pathology test were begnin. What a thankful relief! I have also had blood draws taken at my local lab with the results being faxed to Tampa for Charlie to review and notify me of my results. I'm being case followed long distance. What a great feeling. I cannot say enough amazing things about how I was made to feel and the level of treatment I was given. These people and this place are absolutely amazing. I have received several phone calls since I returned checking on my progress too! Not that I would wish surgery on anyone, but if you need either parathyriod or thyroid surgery, there is only one place to go! Thanks to all members of my surgery teams for my fabulous experience! read more

I was diagnosed with Medullary Thyroid Cancer (MTC) on July 16, 2020. Calcitonin was 314. I rushed into surgery with an ENT who was not experienced enough with MTC. My thyroid was removed and 2 lymph nodes. The ENT stated he didn't see any other lymph nodes that looked abnormal. The post op calcitonin was 89. However, this number rose to 221 just two months after surgery. My endocrinologist ordered scans...... CT Scan, MRI, Pet Scan. All showed nothing. I was referred to a well respected cancer hospital in my state. An oncologist who said experience existed with MTC completed an ultrasound and ordered more scans..... scans with contrast, Dotatate Pet Scan...... All scans showed nothing. The oncologist stated that "Watch and Wait" was the best treatment plan and he could take over my care. After much research, I had a strong suspicion that the first surgery was incomplete and MTC was left behind. Doctors would not listen to me especially since the first surgery was listed as a "thyroidectomy and neck dissection". I was entering into a fog of sadness and confusion. After communicating with others with MTC, I decided to complete the Clayman Thyroid Center intake form hoping someone would listen and help me. Within the week, Dr. Clayman called me at 7:00 a.m. asking if we could meet virtually for a consultation. He listened to my whole story, then proceeded to lift the gigantic weight I was carrying. Dr. Clayman agreed the first surgery was incomplete. He said not to worry and told me not to get any further scans. Dr. Clayman said he could help me with a second surgery that could occur six months from the first. It was explained to me that my body needed to heal. I took the advice and eliminated worry from my mind, read Dr. Clayman's book about healthy living, and counted down the days until February 16, 2021. I met Dr. Clayman and the team on surgery day. I was put at complete ease, even though calcitonin was still in the 200s . Dr. Clayman said he would remove the cancer that other doctors could not find. Well, he did just that! I was delighted after surgery to learn that 27 lymph nodes were removed behind the carotid artery and 17 were positive for MTC! If by chance any MTC remained, it was microscopic. I understand my prognosis would have been better if I would have come to The Clayman Thyroid Center for the first surgery. I cannot change the mistake of rushing into the first surgery. However, I am so glad I found The Clayman Thyroid Center. It was the gamechanger that I needed! After surgery with your team, calcitonin was 10. I was thrilled, but knew that several months were needed for levels to stabilize. I am now treated by an endocrinologist recommended by Dr. Clayman and I just completed my 9 month post op labs. MY CALCITONIN IS NOW 6.1! Those of us with MTC understand that this is a fabulous number! I do not want to think of my prognosis if I would have listened to other doctors. Dr. Clayman improved my prognosis greatly, and a scar is not noticeable at all. How can I ever thank Dr. Clayman and the team of dedicated, talented, and caring surgeons and professionals? Those of us with thyroid cancer are so fortunate to have The Clayman Thyroid Center. I am FOREVER grateful! Sincerely, Melissa B. read more

I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer in November 2017 in Malaysia. I was nervous and scared when I was suggested by my Endocrinologist to get my thyroid removed. I was dazed, I didn't know what exactly to do so I started Web Search for Thyroid Specialist Surgeon. To my rescue with God's grace I found the world's best Thyroid Specialist Surgeon and America's Top Thyroid Cancer Surgeon, Dr. Gary Clayman. Dr. Clayman is based in Tampa General Hospital, United States of America. I read each and every review, YouTube videos and testimonials, honestly, He is too good to be true. Nevertheless, my instincts plead, "He's the one" so I applied online and within few days I received a phone call from Dr. Clayman. I was unclear and filled with all sorts of emotions, I didn't know exactly what to say but He made it all so clear and promising for me. He gave me Hope when I was in despair! So, I decided to book my 36 hours flight to Tampa General Hospital for whole thyroidectomy by Dr. Clayman. Upon my arrival in Tampa General Hospital, I was pleasantly greeted and well informed by Dr. Clayman's department. I was then led by experts to run a neck ultrasound, biopsy and blood test before the surgery. A very detailed ultrasound of the entire neck took approximately one hour to examine the areas of where exactly the cancer had spread. The next minute, the radiologist ran a biopsy and a pathologist was there too in the same room to run some test results. The three doctors had good communication flow and coordinated well among each other which gave me more confidence. I even did the iodine CT scan to detect the diagnosed areas. In the surgery waiting room, I was honored to finally meet Dr. Clayman in person. Just like I anticipated, Dr. Clayman is informative, caring and Yes, he is that good! It was a 6.5-hour procedure for me instead of the anticipated 3-hour surgery because my case was tedious and much challenging since there was a left neck dissection. Even so, Dr. Clayman and team cleared my 69 lymph nodes, spare my parathyroid and most importantly, he saved my voice. I'm a living prove that Dr. Clayman saves life! Even after a week post-surgery, his nurse and Dr. Clayman called me to check on me and my wellbeing. It was a 36-hour flight, my wife and I, we were sore from travelling but it was worth every sore in our bones. I could have gone anywhere else in the world for my thyroidectomy, but I prayed, and God lead me to Dr. Gary Clayman and I thank God I made the trip to Tampa, Florida. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You very much Dr. Clayman and team, Tampa General Hospital and every single person that made me whole again. I was taken such a good care by Dr. Clayman and Tampa General Hospital, words are not enough to describe my gratitude heart. Dr. Gary Clayman is a wonderful soul, God's sent and Yes, he is that good! It started with a routine blood test that resulted with an excessively high calcium count, indicating a tumor/tumors in my parathyroid glands. At the recommendation of my primary care doctor I made an appointment with a doctor of Otolaryngology (an ear, nose and throat specialist) in Tampa, Florida. While visiting with him he indicated that I should have my parathyroid glands checked and removed as needed and also suggested that my thyroid gland be examined and possibly removed by him (at his discretion) at the time he performs the surgery. That sounded a little too uncertain to me so I decided to get a second opinion. Upon investigating the parathyroid and thyroid functions and treatments, I discovered that they are two completely different entities and should be treated as such. Considering anything other than that could be disastrous. Looking further I discovered The Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida and its partnership with the Norman Parathyroid Center. After reviewing both I decided to get a second opinion from them and started completing the intake form for The Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center. Before I finished completing the form, I received a telephone call from Dr. Clayman. He wanted me to know that he had reviewed what I had written at that point and felt confident that he could help me with my problem. He encouraged me to make an appointment for a consult visit and to take more tests to determine a more definitive course of action. He assured me that after that visit I would know exactly what he would recommend (and do) prior to scheduling any surgery. During my visit Dr. Clayman saw something abnormal in my thyroid gland and recommended that it also be removed at the time of my surgery. He believed that there was about a 70% chance of it being cancerous, but assured me that my chance for a positive outcome was 99.8%. While the Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center and The Norman Parathyroid Center are specialists in each of their respective areas, they work together seamlessly in the operating room and focus on each of their areas of expertise. As it turns out my entire thyroid gland and one parathyroid gland were removed. My parathyroid gland tumor is believed not to be cancerous, but my thyroid gland had developed a papillary cancer tumor. Fortunately, it was contained, and as Dr. Clayman put it, "YOU are cured!" Unbelievable! I can't say enough about Dr. Clayman professionally and personally. He is sincerely interested in his patients' wellbeing and strives to help them in any way he possibly can before and after surgery. I can also say the same for his entire team! I was truly blessed to have all of them at my side when I needed them most. My prayers were answered! I would strongly recommend Dr. Clayman and The Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center to anyone with thyroid and/or parathyroid issues. D. R. P. read more

Have you ever received a personal phone call from your primary care physician in response to your medical concerns? If you are under the care of any practitioner, in any city, USA, it is very unlikely. You see, in any professional medical practice, a certain protocol was established ever since answering machines were invented! "If this is a medical emergency, please dial 911. If you wish to make an appointment, call back during our business hours...". Good professional mediocrity. And then, every once in a while, you stumble upon EXCELLENCE! Or should I call it Divine Providence? That's just how I felt when I emailed the office of Dr. Clayman with a few questions, and Dr. Clayman responded personally. I pushed my luck: I had more questions. And would you know it? Not only did Dr. Clayman reply immediately, he actually called and talked about my thyroid concerns - especially my life after a total thyroidectomy - just as if he had known me my entire life! Between emails and phone calls, he had even taken the time to find one of the best endocrinologists in my area. And that was before I even handed out my insurance information or my credit card!! I felt so good after the phone call that I thought I could delay the surgery until the end of the year. That turned out not to be that great of an idea. No problem, I called the office as soon as I was ready, scheduled the appointment, flew to Tampa with my husband, showed up at the Clayman Thyroid Center at 6:00, on a Friday morning, and was out by the next day. Problem solved! Really that simple! At least, that was my personal experience when dealing with one of the best thyroid surgeons in the world! From the minute we came in the Clayman Thyroid Center to the minute we left, we felt "embraced". Everyone seemed so pleasant and peaceful, no matter what hospital floor you were on! From the reassuring smiles, the genuine concern to the comforting touch, you truly felt as if you were a guest of honor! In a hospital, no less!! Since we traveled from out of state, all the preliminary exams and consultation were done just hours before my actual surgery. That alone was a huge mental relief! No need to spend days and weeks googling for every terrifying life scenarios! Honestly, if you really need to google any pertinent information, save yourself the trouble... check Dr. Clayman's website: you will find all the information you will ever need... and more! Beside, whatever diagnosis you are given, you are guaranteed that it will be taken care of within a short few hours! Who could ask for a better outcome? Believe me on that one: excellence IS a whole experience: it begins with the first entrusting phone call, continuing with a calm and reassuring demeanor, a meticulous plan of action, a steady command, and last but not least... a fearless hand. Thank you, Dr. Clayman. read more

Is it possible in today's world of medicine that one could find a kind, compassionate and caring surgeon blessed with amazing surgical skills? Yes.....and his name is Dr. Gary Clayman. I had parathyroid surgery in Nov. of 2017 at the Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa, FL; and there was an incidental pathology finding of medullary thyroid cancer in a lymph node that was removed. I received a call from my parathyroid surgeon regarding the finding. Dr. Clayman was recommended for follow up. I remember sitting on the sofa still in shock and wondering what comes next and a thousand questions were spinning through my head. It was then about 10:30 pm, and my cell phone rang. "Hello Judy, this is Dr. Gary Clayman calling...how are you doing?" ( It seemed as if he somehow knew I needed to talk to him although I had never met him). Dr. Clayman explained what type of surgery would need to be done in follow up and also when - and the importance of waiting several months for the first surgery to heal. A day later, I texted Dr. Clayman and asked if there was anything else to do, and I was still in shock over the diagnosis. He promptly texted me back and said you do not need anything but time......please relax and take a deep breath. I responded I would do my best. Then came a text that said "here is a hug.....best medicine." From that point forward, and for 6 months, I put all my professional trust in this surgeon. He ordered several CT and bone scans in February of 2018, which were negative. My surgery was then scheduled for May 8, 2018 at Tampa General Hospital/Clayman Thyroid Center. I am a retired registered nurse with an extensive background in healthcare risk/quality management. I recognize and appreciate a healthcare professional that not only has great surgical skills, but the best bedside manner I have ever experienced. And he surrounds himself with an amazing surgical team that adds confidence and trust, which is so important. Having said all that, I am not surprised at my excellent surgical outcome. I had very little post op discomfort, and was eating a regular diet the evening post surgery.....and no problem talking or swallowing. I was discharged the next morning and went out to dinner with my husband at one of Tampa's fine restaurants. About a week later, I received a very caring phone call from Dr. Clayman to inform me of the good news related to my pathology report. It was quite the journey I took from the time I discovered I had parathyroid adenomas and then medullary thyroid cancer; thank God I had Dr. Clayman with me on this journey. If you need thyroid surgery, please check out Dr. Clayman's web site; it is a great reference and very informative. Respectfully submitted, Judith Davis-Thomas Bruceton Mills, WV read more

Dr. Clayman and his staff are above exceptional. Initially I was diagnosis by my ENT doctor as having Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. Although, he planned to do the surgery, he recommended we try to contact Dr. Clayman because he considered him the "best in the world." The following morning, I contacted Dr. Clayman's office. I was forwarded a user friendly application, which I immediately completed. Hours later, my phone rings and a gentleman identified himself as Dr. Clayman. After getting over my initial disbelief that he personally called, I listened to Dr. Clayman's advice and was fortunate to have an immediate opening in his very busy surgical schedule. A few days later at 5:30am we arrived at the Clayman Thyroid Center at Tampa General for my surgery. We were greeted with a concerned, empathic, and profession staff. Before the surgery, Dr. Clayman and Dr. Roy, both came in to visit me as well as several other doctors and nurses involved with this procedure. With their assurance, I felt confident that I made the right choice and would get the best care. Dr. Clayman explained the final diagnosis would be dependent upon the pathology. The results would come back in a several days. During surgery my husband and son were updated first by phone then by text that the surgery was going as planned. It was greatly appreciated to know what was going on. After 3.5 plus hours of intense and delicate surgery, they received the final text. When I awoke, Dr. Clayman was at my bedside with my husband and son and indicated that he had removed all of the visible cancer. He was already consulting us on our next step. We agreed to go to MD Anderson for my next treatment. He personally set up my initial visit with the MD Anderson staff. During my post surgery recovery, the staff was well organized. The nurses were very comforting and caring and made sure all of my questions were answered. The evening before we planned to leave Tampa for MD Anderson, my husband and I were in our hotel room around 6:30pm when we received a call from Dr. Clayman. He asked if we were both there because he had some exciting news. The results of the pathology report had changed the diagnosis. It did not show the Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer but a Lymphoma Thyroid Cancer, an exceedingly rare and much less invasive and aggressive cancer. At this point, Dr. Clayman said after the call he would update the MD Anderson team. Without Dr. Clayman and his team, I don't know how I could have made it to this point. I WILL REMEMBER DR. CLAYMAN AS THE DOCTOR THAT SAVED MY LIFE. read more

After several months of dealing with a sore throat and difficulty swallowing. I decided to consult an Endocrinologist. Upon receiving the news that I had multiple nodules on both sides of my throat, I began to research and consult a friend that had experienced the same problems recently. My friend guided me toward Dr. Gary Clayman out of Tampa General Hospital. I placed a call, and as Dr. Clayman's procedure, he called me at home one evening as we had a 15-20 minute phone consultation, and his request of my medical records as well as CD of the ultrasound. Within just a few days an appointment was made after his review of my records, and I was in the facility undergoing double biopsies within a couple of weeks. While the biopsies were being done with Daria on the ultrasound, Dr. John Feldman (Radiology), Dr. O'Neal (Pathology) Jason (main Nurse) all of which were the ultimate professionals, which not only were amazing, but made this very uncomfortable and nerve racking procedure, seem to make everything feel alright, I cannot say enough great things about these skillful individuals. (Hope you finally got something to eat to calm your grumbling stomach down Daria, LOL) At this point, enters Dr. Clayman with results. One nodule benign, the other was not able to get enough cells to determine. Dr. Clayman at this time, with his calm, confident nature explained everything to me in regards to what we should do next, and that was because the nodule looked suspicious in nature and he felt the best thing to do would be to remove that lobe of the thyroid as well as the lymph node behind it that could not be seen with the ultrasound. All while preserving the right lobe. Fast forward two weeks, and I was in Dr. Clayman's hands on the operating table. Unfortunately, even though the staff once again was amazing, being under anesthesia I cannot remember any names outside of his surgical assistant Charlie. Happily, the procedure all went perfect. The nodule was malignant, and removal of the thyroid lobe was the right move, and the lymph nodes were clear. I am now CANCER FREE. I can't say enough about Dr. Clayman, from the moment he walked into the room for the first time...I felt as if I was in good hands and everything would be ok. Dr. Gary Clayman has a confident strength about him that made me feel safe, he did an amazing job and would recommend him to anyone. He's my ROCK STAR!!!! From the bottom of my heart, I thank the entire Tampa General Hospital staff. Sincerely Marja D'Auria read more

Since I was facing a second thyroid cancer surgery, I decided to look into all options even outside my home state of Indiana, to find the most skilled surgeon I could find. After researching online, I found Dr. Gary Clayman in Tampa, FL. After reading all of his reviews, and reading of the many publications he's had, and research he's conducted, I knew he was the kind of highly skilled doctor I wanted performing my surgery! On a Friday afternoon at 4:30 I submitted all of my information online. I was totally amazed when Dr. Clayman himself called me, the following day! I was so impressed he would take the time on a Saturday morning to call me from his personal residence! After our half hour telephone call, I was ready to schedule with him! I couldn't believe too that his center could handle everything in one day...labs, ultrasound, scan, biopsy, vocal cord test, & surgery! Typically those things have to be done over the course of weeks. While in the waiting room waiting to go back, there was a man from France waiting to be operated on as well. When I mentioned it to a nurse, she said they come from all over to see Dr. Clayman, from places as far as Dubai & Egypt! I couldn't believe they did my labs, vocal cord test, ultrasound, and biopsy, all in the same room! My husband who is a Biology teacher, got to remain with me the whole time. He too was so impressed how they utilized the ultrasound machine in exactly pinpointing where they wanted each biopsy needle to go. On top of that, there was a pathologist in the room examining each sample to make sure they got what what was needed, and to on the spot confirm the cancer. Early on the team detected adddtonal cancer, that had never even been detected in any of my previous ultrasounds and scans at home. While I didn't like having a more invasive surgery, I was so thankful it had been found, and I never once felt uneasy because I was in such capable hands. During my surgery, my husband greatly appreciated the text messages he received every half hour updating him on the progress of the surgery. My husband and I agreed that the team is like a well oiled machine, so confident in what they do! This team performs over 1,000 thyroid cancer surgeries a year! When faced with a choice of having someone perform the surgery that occasionally performs thyroid cancer surgery, or someone like Dr. Gary Clayman who has dedicated his life to the eradication of the disease, I believe the choice is simple! read more

This was not my idea, but the nice people on Dr. Clayman's staff. They were doing everything possible to make me comfortable and happy. All this was done with the greatest respect for me. After I was discharged, I received several phone calls in the following days. Either Dr. Clayman or his nurse would be checking in on me. Laura Mazur I had surgery performed by Dr. Gary Clayman, MD on November 14th. My journey started with a swollen lymph node that wouldn't go away with antibiotics (initially, I thought it was from a tooth infection, as I just had a root canal) After multiple ultrasounds, biopsies, and a CT scan, it was confirmed that I had thyroid cancer. I did my research, and didn't feel comfortable with any surgeons locally (small city). There were a few places that I was considering, but I would have had to travel twice (once for the consultation, and then several weeks later for the surgery) This would have meant that I would need to book a (flight, hotel, time off work etc.) twice. It was AMAZING that I could do both within the same day at Tampa General Hospital with Dr. Gary Clayman. Dr. Clayman called me from his personal cell phone number (twice) before my procedure, answered any question I had, and explained everything clearly. He made me feel comfortable every step of the way, has excellent bedside manner, and his staff was wonderful! My cancer was pretty aggressive/advanced, which I had for at least 10 years. To anyone reading this and wondering if you want Dr. Clayman to be your surgeon - the answer is hands down, YES! Because, after all, you don't want to wake up from surgery and realize that the surgeon wasn't able/experienced enough to remove all of the cancer, or some very important function of your body (your voicebox, nerve that controls your arm movement above your head) severed. I had the peace of mind prior to surgery, knowing that I was in the best possible hands and confident that Dr. Clayman would be able to handle anything that came my way - and I was a tough case. Words can never express how thankful I am that Dr. Clayman performed my surgery, and literally saved my life. I understand how advanced it was (and saw the 13 pictures of "things" which were removed) - THANK YOU! As a workaholic, this experience has really humbled me, taught me not to sweat the small things in life, be appreciative for every day you have on this earth, and to be a better person overall. You gave me a second chance at life, and for that I'm forever grateful. His staff was also amazing! read more

Mary Largie 11/15/2017 surgery I had a diagnosis of suspicion for cancer of the thyroid gland with a isthmus connection. I am a Cristian who follows my savior's teachings and always seek God for guidance. My Prayer immediately lead me to find Dr Gary Clayman who had performed over 9,000 thyroid cancer surgeries. I filled out his on-line questionnaire After reading my profile, Dr. Clayman called me to discussed my case. I could hear the compassion in his voice, as he assured me "I will take good care of you". My surgery was set for the following week at the Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center. Dr. Clayman came in during the pre -op evaluation to discuss the partial remove of my thyroid gland that occurred when I was thirteen years old ( a lifetime ago) and to examine my damaged vocal chord. He is without a doubt the most compassionate and caring Dr. I have ever meet. He listen to me as I explained I knew my present growth was not cancerous. The Holy Spirit said no cancer I stated repeatedly. . His wonderful staff performed pre -surgical evaluations and then he explained the procedure in detail. We made a deal. He would remove the nodule; send it to pathology to determine if cancer cells were present. If the pathology report was benign no additional procedure would be performed. He stated "Prayer changes things". His per -op and operating teams are awesome. I stood on the my faith and he performed my surgery with the gift that God placed in his hands. When I awoke from surgery I heard a chorus of voices saying 'benign, Mary benign. Your surgery was textbook perfect they stated. After surgery I was hunger and had a chicken sandwich no pain, or discomfort. I never took a pain pill. Dr Clayman explain my procedure and stated everything went well. I am 19 days post- op feeling great and back to my life. Please, do not let any surgeon who does not perform thyroid surgery daily to touch you. Two years ago, a large mass was accidentally found on my thyroid during an ultrasound being performed for an unrelated matter. Multiple biopsies of the mass were done by my health care team in South Carolina over the months that followed yet no conclusions were ever made regarding the composition of the mass. After becoming extremely discouraged with the lack of progress here locally, I learned of the Clayman Thyroid Center in Tampa, Florida. I contacted them via email to explain my situation in hopes of seeing if they could perhaps help me. They immediately assured me they could address any and all thyroid problems I might have as they handle nothing but thyroid issues. My concern then became the logistics of having them care for me in Tampa when I lived more than 500 miles away in South Carolina. They immediately began working on a plan to treat me in spite of the distance between us. In the end, I traveled to Tampa, had the large mass removed the next morning and was discharged the same day. The following day, I walked a couple miles and had no problems whatsoever driving back to South Carolina a couple days later. My recovery from the surgery has been pain-free and so very simple. While I'm certainly thankful for that, nothing impressed me more about my recent experience than the incredible team of professionals at the Clayman Thyroid Center. Without question, they are the kindest, most compassionate group imaginable. I had the privilege of meeting and consulting with Doctors Clayman and Roy just prior to my surgery. They asked about and were eager to hear of my journey that had led me to them. They then explained in detail exactly what they'd determined that morning would be necessary during my surgery before making sure any and all questions I had were indeed answered. I met Dr. Walsh after the surgery and he was wonderful as well. In fact, every single member of Dr. Clayman's team was simply amazing. I couldn't be more pleased or recommend them highly enough! read more

I don't know where to begin. Clayman Thyroid Center is the absolute best of the best. More than just two of the most experienced thyroid surgeons, more than the most professional hospital and office staff, they are full of the most caring people I have ever met in my life. I am 20 and found out that I had a tumor on my left lobe this past December, 2018. My surgery was just a week ago. From the pre-op appointments, to the day of, to the "checking-in" phone calls post-op, I have never felt so blessed to be in the care of the Clayman team. I had hands to hold when they saw I was scared, I had Dr. Clayman and Dr. Roy popping their heads in during pre- op just to calm me down by answering questions when they could see in my face that I was nervous, I had nurses left and right coming in just to make me smile, I had hugs and kisses on the cheek, but most importantly, I had compassion from every single person I came in contact with. "I've got you" should truly be their motto, because it is the truth. My now practically BFF, and favorite nurse of all time, Charlie, was the highlight of this whole experience. He peaked around the corner more than once just to say "you know I've got you." And I never doubted that he did. That they all did. Right before the surgery, Dr. Clayman came in and told me he knew I was nervous, and then proceeded to say "I know you're nervous, but guess what? You're in my hands, and I've got you." There was never once a doubt in my mind that I was in the best hands possible. Even upon leaving, I had my whole nursing team watching me wheel away in my wheelchair, with hugs to go around. I wish I could do more to show them how appreciative I am of every single one of them. Truly, genuinely, and whole heartedly, HONORED to have been in the care of the Clayman Thyroid Center. I would travel across country just to be their patient if I had to. All i can really say is, thank you. I am cured :) read more

. So if your search for a thyroid surgeon has led you to Yelp ....take a deep breath because you have just found your man. The next step is to go to Dr. Gary Clayman's website which is by far the most extensive website on thyroid cancer and will answer so many of your questions! My thyroid cancer seemed to come out of nowhere and was moving aggressively and fast,so my local doctors recognized that I needed a complete neck dissection and did not have the experience necessary to perform the surgery. I found Dr. Clayman on the Internet, did the online application and then he called me! Within 2 weeks I was sitting at Tampa General for more pre-op testing with a truly professional team and the next day surgery. We started at the crack of dawn and the cancer was everywhere in my neck.....it looked like I was facing Anaplastic thyroid cancer which is very rare and has a lousy prognosis. Dr. Clayman came out to talk to my husband (who pretty much lost it) and compassionately explained that since the cancer was not in my lungs he was willing to go back in for a second surgery to work on my voice box and traech. Although I could possibly lose the ability to talk and perhaps breath through a tube it was my only shot....... Late that night I woke up to Dr.Clayman coming into my room (I probably really screwed up his schedule that day) and said "Hi Doc". I had lost half of my voice box, but could still talk, and was not breathing through a hole in my neck! I had a shot! One week later the final biopsy taken during surgery came back with the result that I have medullary thyroid cancer......which gives me much better odds and I will beat! Dr. Clayman is an amazing man whose surgical skills are beyond reproach. He might have taken a little part of my heart that day with his compassion and passion. I am a very lucky woman that I found him! Lisanne Robinson read more

In February, 2022 I was diagnosed with Medullary Thyroid Cancer. In learning this I immediately started research to proceed with the best care I could get. In doing so, I was so blessed to have found the Medical Team at the Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center. After I made contact on line Dr Walsh contacted me back immediately and had me in to their facility in Tampa within a few days for additional testing. At that time I also met with Dr Clayman and Dr Roy and a surgical plan was put in place and I was scheduled for the immediate removal of my thyroid. I never had such an amazing surgical experience as I did at the Clayman Center. Before and after surgery everyone was SO attentive and caring. They made sure they communicated with you exactly what was happening. The anesthesiologist listened and responded so attentively to my concerns and fears about being "put under". I felt very safe and even lucky that my care was in their hands. After my surgery I stayed in their hospital overnight for observation and care. I must say that I have never had such a wonderful hospital stay than I had at their facility. Still today if I email them with a question or update, each one of the physicians immediately respond back! Truly amazing care and service. EVERYONE was absolutely wonderful before, during and after my surgery. You cannot ask for a more dedicated team of Doctors, Nurses and Support Staff than is at the Clayman Thyroid Center. Dr Clayman, Dr Walsh and Dr Roy and anesthesiologist Dr. Vimal Shah are simply the BEST! If you are experiencing or suspect any Thyroid problems, I strongly recommend that you immediately contact the Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center, because like me, I believe you will find that it will be one of the best decisions you ever made for your health care. Dr. Clayman has offered me tremendous help in a very difficult health situation. I contacted Gary Clayman by email as I was desperate to get surgery for my Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. Being a patient from Switzerland, I was not sure how to proceed with this illness and eager to seek the best medical advice I could get. Dr. Clayman responded right away and offered to treat me over in Tampa at the Thyroid Cancer Center. Some billing issues that came up as Tampa General Hospital was not used to welcoming international patients were quickly sorted out by Gary Clayman himself. A phone call was all it took. Surgery went really well without any complications (no voice loss, bleeding of any kind or parathyroid abnormalities at all) and my scar is healing beautifully - after 6 months there's only so much as a very thin white line that's left of it. Apart from doing an outstanding job as a medical professional, Dr. Clayman was always available in terms of organizational issues: When I was trying to fly back home our airline requested a fit to fly attest as they were aware I had just undergone surgery a few days earlier. I did not have such an attest and it was already 8pm. The airline made it clear that without this document I would not be allowed to board the plane. Fortunately, Dr. Clayman left me his cellphone number and I was able to reach him right away. 10 minutes later, I had a valid attest on my email account and was able to proceed with my journey back home. This episode is just one example of how Dr. Clayman goes the extra mile when it comes to serving his patients. Even though surgery did not fully cure me yet I am a lot better and my decision to have surgery at the Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center was one of the best I have done health wise in the past few years. read more

I have spent my last 15 years in nursing as an RN and have never worked at the Clayman Thyroid Cancer Center on the 6th floor of Tampa General Hospital but, I became a patient there January 2020. Dr. Clayman himself is genuine, caring, human, loving, a perfectionist, zen. My experience was second to none I would not go any where else. I am so grateful to God that I have found Dr. Clayman & his staff. This was my first operation ever and I was scared. They made me feel like a Diamond in the rough. From the very moment I walked in, I knew that I would be taking care of. They could not do enough for me, explain enough to me or be more gentle & caring. Have no doubt that they will be with you from the time you enter to the time you go home and even after that if need be. They are exceptional, perfectionists and a wonderful team to be handling your needs. Dr Clayman hands are a gift from God. There's no other place I would trust for thyroid disease. They kept me informed before and after the operation and, my family informed during the operation. They are available to you by phone by email by text. Five stars is not enough as a rating. I meet a man in the waiting room from outside the U.S. to see Dr. Clayman this is how good this place is. Selling yourself short and going somewhere else would be a disadvantage. As a nurse I always look for the best and I found it. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes & who took care of me physically & emotionally. My heart rested from day one. I knew I was in good hands. God bless you all. read more
