I'm not much for writing reviews, but I felt very compelled to do so after the great experience I had with a guy named Ken and Clayton Computer. About two weeks ago, my computer stopped powering on, just randomly cut off on me while I was online. I tried a few things, but I just couldn't get the dang thing to work again. So I first brought it to where I bought it, Bestbuy,. Their Geeksquad gave me the run around about how much it would be to repair it and said they would have to send it off to somewhere in Kentucky. So after that terrible ordeal I had with them, I left angry and very frustrated! On my way home, I saw a small computer shop called Clayton Computer and decided to stop in there with it. When I came in, I met this guy named Ken. When I told him what had happened, he immediately assured me of what it could have been and started to look at it right there. After talking with him a bit about the situation, he recommended they run some diagnostics to investigate the issue more, I agreed after he stated it would be taken care of instore. A day later, Ken called to inform me that my power supply had gone out and would need to be replaced. Ken then quoted me a great price for the repair, much lower then what Geeksquad was asking for, I quickly approved it and he got it done that day! I haven't had many computer issues in my life, but I really wish all my checkup and repairs were like this! Ken was so friendly and very understanding, he even made some suggestions about some other issues I had with another computer at home. I will definitely come back here first the next time I need a repair! read more

I have been in town in St. Louis the past week on business, visiting from Atlanta. I work in the heatlhcare software industry and a large part of what I do involes computers, software, etc. So, as you can imagine I become pretty distraught when I discovered that I could not get my laptop to cut on AT ALL on the second day I was scheduled to work. Though my computer was completely charged, the screen was pitch black and none of the "tricks" I used would work to cut my laptop back on. Not having immediate access to my company's IT department, the only thing I could think to do was to take my laptop to a local repair shop around St. Louis to see if they could fix it. I came across Clayton Computers online and decided to give them a try since they were near where I was staying. Thank God I Did. John, the technician that serviced my laptop, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. As soon as I told him what was going on, he immediately took a look at it and was able to figure out the problem. He had my laptop repaired and ready to go in no time. And, the best part is...he did it free of charge! If you're ever in the St. Louis area and need a reliable place to go for computer repairs, this is definitely your place. I just picked up my computer this morning from Ken and I have to say, every time I come to Clayton Computer, I'm always treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. This last time I brought my computer in was my first time working with Ken, but he's a fine gentleman that really knows how to make things more understandable and brings it down to my level. I've been coming here for awhile now, and this recent visit was for a viral infection. I had gotten a strange pop up that looked like a normal window, but when I closed it, I couldn't access any of my programs at all after that. My program list was completely empty. I worried since a lot of my business documents were not backed up yet. I brought it in and talked to Ken about it. He addressed all my concerns and was detailed in a way that was both extremely informative and simple for me to understand. In the end, Ken was able to backup all of my documents and remove the infection for me. I have to say, not only was this a pleasant experience, but a very educational one as well! I'm not that good with computers, but Ken really empowered me to learn more about mine. I am more then pleased at how this company continues to grow and improve with each visit I make. read more

I brought my laptop into Clayton Computer after running around all of St. Louis. The first place I brought my computer to, I was immediately (after a quick glance) told I needed something soldered and it would cost over $100 dollars and they would not finish it until 5 days later. I was then told that Clayton Computer was nearby me and I should see what they thought. I brought it by and was immediately helped. He tested various things on both my computer and chargers and came to find out that all that was wrong was I had a bad charger! Clayton Computer not only saved me money but assisted me in showing how to avoid breaking parts in the computer in the future and even took the time to get rid of some space on my desktop....all at no extra cost! I would highly recommend them and will bring my computer to them again in the future if need be. read more

Excellent, very quick, cost effective and polite service. I had an issue with my out-of-warranty Dell laptop - the screen failed. After a large competitor quoted three to five days to run a diagnostic, I found Clayton Computer through an online search. John was able to run a diagnostic and repair the problem completely within 24 hours, which included a replacement screen and inverter. Perhaps I got lucky that the screen was in stock, but that response time is outstanding!. All I know is that John came through and was able to efficiently fix the problem at a price I felt was fair (screen install was $200 including part; the part itself costs around $100 on various websites. Diagnostic was $59, which is slightly less than others). I was delighted to get such a quick turnaround, and I'm very satisfied and happy to recommend. read more

Fast, fast, fast... Took my old Compaq Presario SR1950NX in because the CD/DVD drive had seen better days - it shot craps. I was shocked when John (the salesperson/tech) asked if I wanted to wait. "We should have it ready in about an hour or less." I just about fainted. I walked out in just over an hour with both a new CD/DVD drive & upgraded memory for about $100. It sure beats $500 or more for a new desktop PC. Yep...I'm stuck on Windows XP. And as long as it keeps running fine or can repaired easily & inexpensively - I'll keep using it. We had a serious mac problem and needed it done ytdy! We stopped by the local repair mega stores.. ie bestbuy and microcenter.. I was amazed to see that nobody even moved around to help me out, so we decided to find service elsewhere. No way im leaving my 3k computer with somebody that can't even look me in the eye and say hello! We passed right by this store on the way to microcenter! I stepped in the door, and within seconds I was greeted and helped. 1 day later, and at half the price of the apple store, I am back in business and on the way to california with my laptop in hand! Next time I am in the area I am going to buy these guys lunch.. impressive service! read more

I love this place! Four years ago, I had a bad HP laptop from Best Buy, and when it disintegrated, I felt discouraged by Best Buy and HP's bare attempts to fix it. The people at Clayton Computer let me know that it was a bad computer to begin with, but only charged $40 to glue some of the parts together. After that, my parents and I have both bought laptops from them- two acers and a lenovo, and we're delighted with the service. They waive the diagnostic fee if the machine was bought through them and transfer your data for free as well. We've had no issues with our new laptops- they made great recommendations! read more

I took in my laptop this morning with a broken screen, and picked it up a few hours later. It was nice to have the option of a new replacement or a used one. I went with used, and it is like new. I was happy to find a local establishment to fix my computer, and not have to send it out. The new screen would ahve cost more with shipping, and there was not an option of the pre-owned, which was $50 less!. AND, I had my laptop back the same day! The big boxes wouldn't hardly talk to me about merely replacing a screen; they just wanted to sell me a new one. I'm thrilled to have discovered this place! read more

I had a serious hard disc crash and that is never a good thing. I went to Clayton Computer on Big Bend. John was outstanding! He provided me information as he was diagnosing my problem. He was very competent and calm (I wasn't) and kept giving me updates as he tried to retrieve my data. He went through multiple steps with multiple rescue software and was able to save the data I needed. He gave me next steps and even talked to a tech from HP to help me get a new hard disc. Very good and honest too. I had a problem with my AC adapter port charging my battery. The gentleman who helped me had to take apart my computer and was able to put it back together no problems. He also didn't charge me extra as he had a spare part in his office and he even discounted the initial price. I went to BestBuy and Micro Center and it was a zoo. With Clayton Computer, definitely got a mom and pop feel to it. My computer was fixed ahead of time and under budget. The people there are honest. Great place! read more

I spilled coffee on my new MacBook Pro and feared it was unsalvageable. I took it to Clayton Computer's Big Bend branch, where they were able to take apart the computer, clean all the parts, and restore my Mac to its former glory! I'm so thankful. The customer service was great and the cost of the repair was very affordable (especially when you consider the price of replacing my computer; I would have gladly paid double the repair cost). Jeff is a genius! He saved my sanity by fixing my new computer I received as a gift for Christmas. Not only did he set & install everything up the way I was used to on my old computer -- but he also was able to do all of this remotely. I never had to leave my house! Definately not sure what either of these below me encountered, and both sound very unfamiliar of my local Clayton Computer, located in Clayton. I have been a customer for over 10 years, and have had nothing but excellent results. Matter of fact I have found just the opposite from microcenter, so I am doubting this to be true. Brought in a unit for data recovery that I had previously taken to Best Buy and was unsuccessful. I received a call 24 hours later letting me know that my unit was not only done, but that they had every single bit of data. I am a music producer, so this company saved my butt literally. They need a bigger sign on the door, because I had driven by it looking for it several times! read more

I am so pleased with Clayton Computers service. I spilled liquid over my MacBook pro and was appalled at what apple would have charged me. I ran over to Clayton computers and they fixed it up, and saved me a lot of money. Great service, very prompt! They cracked the "uncrackable" password protection on my computer, and removed a very nasty virus--and had the computer back to me within a few days. I especially liked how personal the service was, and it was a much better value than Best Buy. read more
