I will admit this one could use a little bit of an update - mostly just in the cafe . But it's super nice! I love that they have a dessert case and you can get all your Starbucks drink. If you pull in, you do end up backing onto a busy road so leave with caution. As I said, they have a great selection. There are four rooms of boons, each section is clearly labeled and occasional thematic decor. There are also occasional benches so you can sit and debate which books you want to "adopt". They're used, but gently and each has a price lower then the face value written inside. They also have the largest selection of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys I've ever seen. Its all very impressive.

I recommend you stop in as they have everything from Alf put together figures to very nice pieces of art work detailing comic book icons. Very glad this store isn't too far away but if I am being honest I buy 99% of my comics online. Great selection of toys, comics (current issues line the walls, lots of back issues, and lots of wall books for serious collectors), a lot of trades (which are really well organized which is something that I think a lot of comic shops don't do nearly as well as they should - these guys do!). They also have a nice selection of Hot Toys and statues, as well as tshirts. What puts this place over the edge? The staff. This is not your stereotypical comic shop staff (which, to be fair, is not as common nowadays as when I was a kid) where the clerks would look at anyone who came in that wasn't a regular as an outsider to be shunned. These guys make all feel welcome, even those who know nothing of these nerdly delights. I've seen them help moms search for something for their kids as intently as regulars looking for a new book to try. The best thing I can relay, though, is a time I went with my son - we walked in, were greeted as we did, and went about perusing the store. As we walked around, one of the clerks came over to us, asked if it was ok to give something to my son, and gave him a little plastic Flash ring. It wasn't fancy but it was a touching gesture that made me and my son feel welcome, even moreso than we already had. So if you're looking for a comic book shop, this is your place!

I bought some science fiction magazines from the 60s and 70s for only 15 dollars. The issues were in great condition. I also collect old newspapers and they have a good amount going back to the 1800's. You can easily spend hours at this place. Employees are all very nice and knowledgeable.

Also, one thing to note is that the adult men's magazines were not far from the comics. Not the best idea. The staff that was there was very helpful trying to assist everyone to find what they needed. If you have a day to spend a couple of hours and would like to hunt for a gem, give it a go.

The shop itself is well organized and has so many niche categories to browse and appreciate. As a bonus, the shop (and Dr. Pickles!) are active on Instagram sharing the latest that's up with the shop. I am absolutely planning on returning to this shop during my next trip to Philadelphia.
