Loved everything about Uncle Bobbie's books. My coffee was tasty, I purchased a couple books and had a nice conversation with the saleswoman. I will stop in again when I'm back in the city.

This is a great place for a coffee and to sit and get some work done. Good amount of seating, plenty of street parking and a great selection of books. I hope they are able to move into a bigger building so that they can continue serving the community. Thank you Uncle Bobbie's!

Uncle Bobbie's Coffee and Books is located in the heart of Germantown. Upon entering, you're met with books and different clothing for sale, like sweat shirts, tee's, totebags etc. Also, they have espresso, latte's, tea's, lemonade, pastries, bagels etc. for sale at the counter for your added enjoyment. I loved the feel of the place, very calming. A great place to come and get away and read or meet up with a friend and talk or have a cup of coffee. Uncle Bobbie's is open Monday 8-2pm and Tues- Sunday 10-5pm. They have a large selection of books in all genres. Love that they also have a childrens section to keep the little ones busy. They have social events here and I think it would be a great place to have a bookclub meeting. There isn't a parking lot, but a lot of parking on the street. The customer service was also great! They were glad to help me find what I was looking for. Uncle Bobbie's is black owned and operated. Me and my daughter decided to make a special trip here to support for black history month. I bought 2 books and a tote bag. My daughter decided on 2 book, a hoodie and a tote bag. I will definitely be back and would recommend this place.

Uncle Bobbie's is an ideal cafe. It's a nice and quiet cafe with ample seating. The music isn't too loud and more like white noise so I can just sit there with no headphones. It also wasn't extremely busy but there are so many tables and comfortable seats. It's also a bookstore so you can browse around. I really enjoyed the coffee and thought it was delicious!

I've heard about this place from a friend some time ago and I drive by here all the time. I was meeting someone for coffee, and they asked where can we meet, and I said STARBUCKS! The person came back and said, "Nah, I only do black owned" and suggested here. Parking: Street and its metered. I believe the side street church lane isn't. Atmosphere: bright and cozy! I thought they only sold coffee, but they have books too as well as great music. I love it! They have so many titles! Oh, and the great memorabilia and pictures!! This isn't a Starbucks. If you want a t-shirt you can purchase one. They even have a cozy couch in the back to chill! It was just an all-around unique vibe that I was definitely feeling. Service: Great! They gave suggestions. They have an area where you can set up your laptop and charge your electronics. Selection: 1. I had the Macha tea, I think, called the spring garden. It was delicious 2. My friend had the gunpowder tea, and he enjoyed it. They offer pastries and have a few vegan options. They sell candles.amd mugs too. Overall, my experience was awesome, and I will be going back. This will be my go-to place from here on out. I hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Yes, I went on a Black Owned Bookstore tour while visiting DC- but we had to go to Philly! This review is really past due, but who is judging me?! Uncle Bobbie's Coffee & Books is like going to your favorite uncle's house and finding all the coolest, dopest shit he used to wear when he was in school. I went in for books and merch and I left with that. I left with two sweatshirts and a few books, which the owner signed for me. YEP, you guessed it- I met Marc Lamont Hill honey! Wow, that is a handsome human being. Sir, you are good-looking! (Can I say this on Yelp? lmao! Marc, if you see this hello lol, and also thank you for sharing your art with us!) And we took a photo and I was stuck, unable to speak because Marc is a legend. Mynika, enough. Okay, so I know for a fact that I have to return because I did not get to indulge in the coffee/cafe. I left with two sweatshirts. One reads, 'Don't Let These Degrees Fool You' and 'Books Saved My Life.' Both are very true for me in this life. I am genuinely grateful for the work of Black creators, artists, and authors. I thank yall. I see yall. And I will be back. Cool People. Dope Books. Great Coffee.

Had the opportunity to visit the lovely Uncle Bobbie's Coffee & Books. Been wanting to check it out and finally had the opportunity! Uncle Bobbie's Coffee & Books hosted Alex Elle's book tour at First United Methodist Church of Germantown (FUMCOG). Both establishments' staff were so nice and made sure the guests were taken care of. After the event, I stopped by the coffee shop/bookstore, which is not big but comfortable. There were people working on their laptops, talking to friends, reading books, etc. I looked around at the variety of books, which was cool. Ordered their "caramel kiss" iced coffee. This was one of the best iced coffees I've ever tasted. They also had pastries and bagels available. Wish I could've enjoyed my coffee there, but I had to run. Definitely visiting again!

Among the best neighborhood coffeeshop and book sellers you'll find. If you're grabbing to go or sitting to socialize, study, or just absorb the great energy- it's a don't miss when you're in the area. Price points are good, street parking typically available, use an app. Take the time to browse the shelves and grab a t-shirt on your way out.

This is a gem of a place!! It is a very quaint bookstore with an amazing coffee selection! It's a great place to work and find a great book! The service is impeccable!! It's just a really cool vibe!! The gingerbread vanilla latte is the bee's knees!

This coffee shop reminded me of a cozy styled Barnes and Nobel. There are tons of books to choose from mostly black authors and they are categorized so it's easier to find a book of your liking. The chai latte was delicious while I read a book of interest. Overall it's nice spot to get coffee, work, read or buy a new book.

How hard it is to find a parking spot on the street nearby?

I didn't have a problem finding a place to park. You may have to drive around a bit, but it was pretty easy.

Their prices are a bit higher than you'd expect online or at a chain bookstore, but I find that very justifiable as all of their profits go towards running the shop and other social justice missions. They also have books on queer studies, feminist literature, Muslim education... the list goes on and on. Do you understand what anarchy is? At any rate I seriously doubt the black and brown employees who have or do currently work or volunteer at Wooden Shoe would appreciate being called racist, so why don't you, you know, fuck off and shop somewhere else? That being said. Wooden Shoe is an exceptional resource for books on any number of topics. They tend to skew toward literature on social justice issues that run the gamut, so you're not going to find the latest pop culture biography or new fiction. Books are full price, so expect to pay $35 for a new hardcover, but they also have a ton of $1-5 second hand books, plus a really cool section of free and cheap zines and small print publications. I've been shopping here for it seems like a decade, and as a queer, gender non-conforming biracial person, the idea that they are racist is comical bordering on fully ignorant.

The books are in good condition and well-organized with clearly labeled shelves and sections. The CD section oddly didn't seem to be organized in any way though - not by genre or even in alphabetical order by artist. I found it impossible to find anything I was specifically looking for, and I gave up. If you're looking to just browse though and not find a specific artist, give it a look. I found fewer newer titles here than I typically do in other used bookstores in the city, but that' s likely due to the fact that they get most of their books as cast-offs from the city library system and outright donations. I was initially confused about where to locate the prices on the books, until I came across the sign on the sales floor explaining the system. I wish it was posted more prominently right when you enter to save people the confusion. You can't beat the more than reasonable prices though. The employees are friendly and helpful, and they have a couple bookstores cats, which I love. Definitely worth a visit when you're in the neighborhood!

Located in the Graduate Hospital area, away from the busier end of South St. might have something to do with that. It is a little oasis, & deserves consideration. The owner is friendly, the books are in favorable condition, & the prices are reasonable. The art, poetry, & sci-fi/fantasy selections have some titles you might not come across that readily. Greeting cards done in collage by a local artist are for sale. I'm for that kind of support. On my visit here I purchased, as a replacement, Diane Middlebrook's Anne Sexton biography (in hardback). Sometimes you just have to pounce on something in a secondhand shop because you might not come across it again, & then end up resorting to the the internet to hunt it down from a non-local business. I might not visit Neighborhood Books that often due to its location but I plan to keep it in mind for the possibility of the unexpected find.
