I started CrossFit 2 years ago. From being a couch potato to working out 3-4 times per week, it's…read morebeen a big change. It has made a positive difference in my lifestyle, eat healthy, work out regularly. No work out is easy, everyday you leave with your butt being kicked and realizing how much more there is to achieve. The facility is excellent, coaches are well versed in CrossFit. The emphasis is on ensuring you do it right. The programming led by Jeff, Adam & Katie is adaptive and helps address your shortcomings. So if you want to get fit, improve your strength & conditioning - CrossFit Sixth City is the place to be at. I endorse CSC without any reservations. Addendum: 6/14 CSC has added weekly yoga classes. These are held every Thursday, led by a certified yoga instructor. I find them very complimentary to CrossFit especially with mobility. The yoga classes are open to all & cost $5/session.

Just like Cleveland, Sixth City rocks! Okay, that was super corny, but really, Sixth City is an…read moreawesome place to get your fitness on, and I'm fortunate to have been a member of this incredible community for two years now. One thing that truly sets CSC apart is the fact that no matter your fitness level, the coaches will pay attention to you, help you through your bad habits, and they legitimately want you to succeed. They don't spend all of their time with newbies nor do they spend all of their time with the more experienced athletes, instead, everyone gets personal attention and help where they need it most. Some people complain about the price of a crossfit membership, but with a basic understanding of the product, you'll see that it's well worth it. CSCs coaches take all the hard work out of staying fit--they plan the workouts for you, help you through your weaknesses and encourage you when you want to quit. Beyond that, they take a genuine interest in getting to know you. Bonus points--the gym is in a super convenient location if you work downtown.

I had an incident with a Planet Fitness member. He was trying to use two pieces of equipment, and I…read morewas using the triceps exercise machine. He tried to pressure me off the machine and kept asking me questions about how many times I rested between sets and how many sets I was doing. He had his food on top of the triceps machine, and the triceps machine had been open for a while. I also reported this to Omarion, an employee, but he never did anything about the situation. I then reported it to corporate. Additionally, I spoke on the phone with Lovely, an employee, who told me they would look at the cameras. Another employee I talked to on the phone said Lovely was not there and told me she was going to look at the camera with a supervisor and never did on 6/15/2026 and lied. Also, I talked to a woman on the phone today on 6/15/26 and she was rude from 2:30 to 2:50 on the phone. Also, Lovely never wrote anything down about the incident and I have to keep repeating myself over and over. I talked to the Monica manager. She took the other Planet Fitness member's side, saying he could use two machines at a time, acting like I was the aggressor. I am the victim. She told me I can't go there anymore because she asked me what I thought she should do about the situation, and I said, "You're the manager on the phone." Also, she never talked to him about the situation because of favoritism. I don't recommend this ghetto place to anyone, and this place is not safe because of incompetent people. You don't have to tell me twice; I will not be going back to this ghetto gym.

There were a lot of people in there working out but I was able to access all equipment needed for my work out. The staff was friendly as well. Overall, 4 stars.

LifeStart Wellness Center is an older, relatively basic gym located on the third floor of The 200…read morePublic Square Building. Membership is discounted by about $4 per month to tenants of the building, but is also open to the public, with rates starting around $50 per month. The gym is staffed by several personal trainers, who offer some classes (for an additional charge) in its different studios, massages, and consultative services and promotions/challenges. Locker rooms are also on-site with showers and the standard amenities, along with laundry service and permanent locker rentals, both available for additional monthly fees. The equipment itself is rather basic but workable, showing clear signs of age. Several of the elliptical machines are broken and have been that way for the better part of a year, much to the chagrin of the early bird and lunch crowds. Cardio machines face four different televisions which have closed captioning, while several machines have plug-in capabilities to hear the audio of the radio or the different TV's. The free weight rack has weights for 5 pound increments from 5 to 55 pounds. The staff relies on member's leftover magazines/newspapers for the bulk of the reading material available. Overall, this is a convenient fitness option for those already in the building or who work close by, but nothing to write home about, and certainly not a competitor to some of the newer gyms in the area.
