Communication Problems I can never get anyone to reply to my emails or return my calls. Last time they alerted me of an upcoming scheduled service. No one showed up. Wrote an email. No one replied. Prior to that I called in. No one answered the phone. Left a message. No call back. Email. Nothing. The work itself is ok too bad the communication is so bad. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with these folks. The best thing I can say about them is that I don't even notice my lawn being taken care of because it's so quiet and efficient. Just, magically, all the wet leaves are gone. Magically, my grass is neatly trimmed. I work from home, so I don't know how they do it. Appreciate their quiet, electric equipment for both me, and my neighbors. I signed up originally for environmental/health reasons - didn't want any pesticides or gas equipment belching out fumes. Avoid at all costs. I never write reviews and generally prefer to go directly to a company that I feel disappointed in. In this case I feel like I need to put it out there that this company is patently unreliable and should be avoided. I found out about Clean Air because our neighbors use them. I figured we'd give them a shot. Over the course of the 4 months we worked with them we had many skipped mowings (oops! the mower that works in your neighborhood was sick!), even on days when our direct next door neighbor's lawn was mowed by them. It makes no sense. Then another issue came up, which I emailed Andi about, and didn't get a response (oops! your email ended up in my spam folder!). And on, and on. The final straw was when our yard was skipped for 3 weeks in a row, and then I was told they wouldn't be out for another week. I told them this was unacceptable and that we'd need someone to come out sooner. No response at all. There were also billing issues. I canceled auto-payment because I was feeling iffy about the service and wanted to be in charge of when they were paid. Somehow my next bill was paid automatically? I guess I should have fully deleted my bank information in addition to canceling the auto-payment. In all, beware. read more

The good: - Quiet equipment, which is great for when you're working from home - Equipment is electric, so there's some reduced environmental impact - Workers have been friendly The not-so-good: - You pay a premium over other services. - Communication is poor. This is a surprise (and pretty inexcusable) given the cost, but I don't receive replies to my emails more often than not, and there's never been a heads-up on a scheduling change. - Scheduling is unpredictable, despite there being an assigned "day". See Communication, above. - Payment is at a fixed annual rate, so you pay all summer long for little/no service during that time. This means starting a contract at some times of year (e.g., late spring) is worse than others. Not great, but acceptable for now: - Sure, the equipment is electric, but it's not exactly green to haul it around town in a gas-powered pickup (but this is excusable given the cost of an electric truck or van). read more

Looks like I've had the same experience as the other 1 star reviews here. I hired Andy at Clean Air Lawn Care back in May. We signed a contract that stipulated I would receive a certain number of mows, bed maintenances, and other lawn services (e.g., fertilizer, lime, etc) over the course of the year. Fast forward to now (Aug 2nd) and I've received less than a quarter of the services in my contract. Yet I'm still being billed monthly - and received another charge yesterday! - despite the fact that I explicitly asked over 3 weeks ago to no longer be charged as I am not receiving service. That brings me to my second point: I've had a very difficult time getting a hold of Andy. During the first couple of weeks after hiring him I bought his excuse of it being his "busy season", but now it seems he's completely fallen off the map. I've called, left voicemails, and sent texts, but have not heard from him in over 3 weeks. Please do yourself a favour and look elsewhere for lawn care. read more

I paid many thousands of dollars for a yard maintenance plan for 1 year. The service overall was not good and I feel massively overcharged. There were long periods where no one came out to mow and we had to do it ourselves. They apply fertilizer whenever it's convenient to them and then tell me to water the lawn after. Worst of all, they applied weed killer that left huge holes in the lawn (about 6 months ago) and the holes are still there. I'm done with them now, I hired some middle schoolers in the neighborhood for a tenth of the price and they do a much better job. read more

I have used another franchise of Clean Air in the past. Looking to reengage, the early process in reviewing desired service and estimate went well. Early into the contract things were going well. During the winter there was no service, and not a part of the contract so was not expecting much. However, once spring rolled around it has been a terrible experience. I have received only 1/3 of the contracted services which was supposed to include mowing, bed maintenance, fertilization and a lime treatment. It is impossible to get a timely response from the owner, and then the follow through to show up in person to discuss has not happened. I have been trying to talk to him since the first week of May and two months later, we still haven't spoken. What is worse is based on the contract I have been paying an amortized monthly amount across the year and I have paid for services I have not received. Do NOT recommend. read more

We signed a contract with Clean Air Lawn Care back in November and met with Denny. In person, Denny committed to cleaning up the shared spaces in our townhouse community. Since then, the gardeners have told us that they refuse to service those areas. We were told Denny would come back and discuss with us, but hasn't. Clean Air Lawn Care has been inaccessible by phone or email. They won't return a voicemail, but seem responsive to bad reviews. read more

These guys came out to look at my lawn and sent me a proposal for fertilization and weed control services. I told them I'd like to go ahead with their service and basically never heard back until, a couple of weeks later someone showed up unannounced and fertilized my lawn when I didn't want them to. I called and asked what that was all about and was told that they had some issues lately but would get things sorted out and I would hear back right away...I didn't. A couple of weeks after that I got an invoice for monthly service. I called to ask about that and got another apology and was told I was in the 1% of their of customer base that they just "couldn't get right". I was told to send them a text and I would her back and things would get fixed and we'd get on the right track. I did that and gave it a few days and not surprisingly, heard nothing back. I'll add them to the list of flakes and move on. read more

I requested a quote for a front yard cleanup from several companies through Yelp to prepare for an event at our house 6 weeks in the future. In my quote I indicated the dates, the work, and provided all necessary details. Clean Air responded quickly and promised they could do the work. As a result I stopped working with other services. It took Clean Air quite a bit of time and follow up from me to setup the onsite quote. Then they indicated a second employee had to see the site and provide a quote. (It is just two small areas of grass and some Juniper - not a big project). Again, delays and lack of follow up. Finally the second person came by and spent 2 minutes looking at my yard. Again delays and requests for the quote and I get back a quote for the service I wanted plus thousands of dollars in ongoing maintenance services. I declined the maintenance and asked just to complete the original work before my deadline. No responses! We were now only a week away from the event after all the delays. Multiple emails begging for help as I was out of options now with other services not able to fit us in. And then they offer me a date after the original date and said "Maybe we aren't the right service for you." Yeah, wish I knew that at the very start. read more

This business changed ownership and has been terrible of late. Our grass looks awful, we've been overcharged and we didn't get some services. On top of that, the company claims to use natural weedkillers, but then they admit they don't work for the most common weeds and try to push regular, toxic weedkillers to resolve the problem. I've pulled them by hand instead, which is what they should do if they can't fix the issue. I am not paying significantly more than other lawn care services so I can use the same toxic weedkillers. I am very disappointed in the company and the lawn and landscaping service provided. Even though the owner and office assistant are amicable people, I was charged for services I did not receive and I was also billed (asked to pay for) hours that were not included in the original bid. During the roughly three months I was a customer, I got the feeling that rather than wanting to work with me to correct problems, that I was being up sold; perhaps because the job that was contracted for was under bid by the owner and when he realized his error he made it my problem rather than accepting responsibility for his own error. All that being said, the services I did receive they were sporadic (an entire month was missed for landscape/bed maintenance). The gardening services were very often sub standard as far as the bed maintenance. Some of my shrubs and ground cover were over pruned with the edger even though I was told they would use mostly hand pruning. As for the lawn care, the edging was way overboard in some spots, so much so I actually felt that I was losing real estate. I was also really mystified as to why the lawn care tech would not clean the leaves up and would blow them into the street rather than placing them in the compost, it took some time to iron that wrinkle out. I often had to do many of the contracted services myself after the bed maintenance was done. When I asked the owner about this and whether it could be corrected, I was eventually told that the contracted bid did not contain enough hours, so I would need to hire/pay for more hours. I disputed this since my yard is so small. I also let the owner know that even though three people came out for the last visit and were there for an hour the work still was incomplete. The first to show up didn't start until 15 minutes into the hour. About 15 minutes after that two others showed up and stood around mostly for the remaining 30 minutes. Even though three people (3hours), the contracted services still were not completed despite my having pointed them out to the maintenance crew. While I was assured by the company that they wanted to have "happy customers", and although they agreed that some of the work was not up to their company standards, no sincere effort was made to provide any type of consideration for the mistakes and missed services. In the end, I regret my experience with this company. It really became too much work for me to continue service. I do hope that this company is able to continue to stay in business and are successful, but that may take more time and effort by the company leadership. Best of luck. read more

The only reason I am giving one star is because of the mowing service and the initial cleanup, which bring the score up from negative numbers. The mowing service was very good. I would hire the mower alone now that I've canceled the contract. The initial (and huge) cleanup of the yard was well done, if expensive. Other than that it's been the same experience for me as the previous reviewers: 1) Only received about half the mowing we prepaid for, 2) Received NONE of the expensive spring fertilizer treatments and almost no bed maintenance, 3) The owner just DOES NOT RESPOND to phone calls, emails or texts. Caveat 1: I have never used a lawn/yard service before so there may be things I just didn't know about, but I canceled the contract after six months of TERRIBLE customer service. Caveat 2: This is my first-ever Yelp review, and I hate to "pile on" so I actually left a lot of my complaints out of this review, but I feel strongly that people should know what being a customer here is like. read more

A company that responds in a timely manner, doesn't jerk you around and shows up when they say they will! What a concept! One of the other companies you will read about on Yelp, mention lower prices, but they also "insist" someone be home (so they can upsell you, no doubt) Yet the didn't show up when they were supposed to and didn't contact me to reschedule. So I went with these guys. Didn't have to be home, didn't get any upsell, billed me once the work was done and did it when they said they would. Sold. I'll be using them again next spring. read more

I've had them mow our lawn for over two years now. At first I thought I just wanted one good mow at the beginning of the year that year, but I'm glad I hired them to mow all year. They do a great job. Besides mowing, they edge the sidewalks and the beds, so it looks so much better than it did when we were doing it ourselves! Nice that they use electric equipment instead of gas because if I'm home, it's not even noisy, and of course it's better for air quality. read more

Clean Air Lawn Care has been great for us. Previously, we had an unreliable service that was impossible to schedule, unreliable, and not all that great at cutting our lawn. Clean Air is the exact opposite. They are very professional, they always show up, and they are very easy to work with. We have automatic billing set up, so the yard is now one less thing I have to think about. It just gets taken care of. They send me occasional emails about seasonal maintenance or other optional services, and those are easy to schedule as well. It's not the cheapest way to maintain your lawn, but it's no hassle and I like to support a well-run local business. read more

When I run the world, gasoline-powered yard equipment will be super triple intergalactic banned. There's just plain flat no need or excuse for making a ton of noise and air pollution to keep lawns and grounds looking A1. These guys do a timely, reliable, cost-effective job of keeping my grounds tidy. They also do a divinely QUIET and CLEAN job of it; their electric machinery isn't anywhere nearly so cacophonous or stinky as the gasoline-powered junk the other services use. I only wish my neighbors will engage their brains and switch to Clean Air Lawn Care, too. read more

Adam and his team are great. I've used Trugreen in the past and felt they were overkill on the lawn applications. Clean air has kept my lawn green and I feel like I am doing my part for the environment too. Adam has been awesome about helping me out while on extended vacations and mowing my lawn while away. I generally just use their fertilization program, but I know they use all solar batteries and electric mowers, reducing their carbon footprint. We used this service to upkeep our lawn while my husband was away for the military. They were terrific, timely, friendly and efficient. Recently we had them come out and help us with clearing some major overgrowth (blackberries and morning glory) in our back alley and again, they did an incredible job. These guys do great work. Simple as that, great, clean, efficient, and fast. My wife and I need help around the yard, because we are simply too swamped with other projects to keep up the yard as well as we could. We contacted Clean Air and they have been nothing but terrific to work with. I am also working with them on new plantings for the yard, and they are knowledgeable about what will work in my space, and what are the low-maintenance native plants. The only reason I am not giving them a 5 star rating is because we have not used the service for a year, so I want to give them a bit of time before I feel good about giving them 5 stars. I hurt my back and needed a service to cut my weed infested lawn for a couple months. Even during the fourth of July weekend I got a call back from Clean Air Lawn Care promptly and set up a day to assess what kind of service I needed. On the day of the meeting the Clean Air guy was on time and gave me a fair estimate after looking around a bit. He was honest with me about what could realistically be done with my lawn which I greatly appreciated (even though it was bad news). He stated they would try to get to my lawn the same week (this was on a Tuesday) but he wasn't sure if they would be able to. The very next day I came home from work and the lawn was neatly mowed and the edging was done. The sidewalks and porch were neatly swept as well. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone in need of an efficient service for lawn care at a reasonable price. read more

After my initial request for a quote to mow my lawn, I received an automated response stating that someone will contact me shortly. I was contacted by a sales person, gave him my information and best time to call. After waiting two weeks I emailed them again and received an email back stating that my request slipped through the crack on their end and unfortunately they are too busy to take on any more clients in my area. Wow!! Shocked doesn't even begin to explain my reaction. Then I received a phone call from the outside salesmen stating that he would come by the next day to give me an estimate. When I realized that I was contacted by both the owner and a sales person, I informed him about the email from the owner. The sales person said as far as he knew they serviced my area and he was not aware they were not taking on more clients. He said he would check with the owner and get back to me. Well I never heard back so I'm assuming they will not be giving me a quote or want my business. I would suggest you update your website to state the areas where you aren't taking new clients so people don't waist their time. I would also inform your sales people so this doesn't happen again. The lawn is expertly maintained for a fair price. The service is clockwork reliable. Customer service is impeccable. All this and less noise and pollution in the neighborhood. This is how lawn care should be for everybody. Happens without thinking about it and come home to the feeling of neat, clean and orderly - and I didn't have to do it, correct anything, remind anyone, etc. What more could you ask?
