Mike did a total yard landscape including removal of an old landscape next to the house and…read moreinstalling a new landscape next to the house, bringing in new topsoil, and planting 3/4 acre of grass, which took him two days. Also, I agreed with Mike to do a weekly total yard maintenance program/contract to assure landscape survival. The problem started on his last day of landscaping when severe weather came into the area, which was forecasted all week long. In other words, he chose a bad time to do the work. During the first night of the completed landscape, severe erosion occurred due to heavy rain where quite a bit of seed and topsoil was washed out. At my repeated requests, he came back and laid down some excelsior matting with a limited amount of seed beneath it. The lawn germinated with numerous bare spots. For a period of two months, i repeatedly asked Mike to reseed and bring in more top soil to cover the bare spots. Even though this was his fault because of poor timing, I was willing to pay for additional materials if he provided the labor, which was a generous offer from my side. He never did this despite my repeated text messages, emails, and phone calls. His early response was that he would do it but it never happened. And then later he started to say the he would reseed in the fall, which was an unacceptable delay in dealing with the problem and I actually started doing some of the reseeding myself. My major issue here is that Mike did not properly follow up with initial landscaping problems and he breached the maintenance contract during June by not mowing every week as contracted even though there were no poor weather issues. Now Mike said that he is "terminating the contract" because I am asking too much of him. He got very indignant and arrogant in this exchange because he felt that he could just walk away from this problem. My mistake was that I did not properly check on Mike's references and I will never use him again. Mike doesn't seem to have time for his customers and when problems occur, he forgets about the customer and service provider relationship.
