This was after we paid him for the material and it should have been ordered already by then. he was half way done and we didnt want to have to go finding another contractor to finish te job he was threatening to leave if we didnt give him the extra money for material. So we paid him and he took another 2 months to finish the job. Lord help you if you miss a single check by the time he wants it. About half way through the construction job My Father fell ill and had to be hospitalised. my mother went with him to the hospital and didnt leave his side until the night he passed on. which was another month after we finally dropped DZ Miller. Because my father was in the hospital he wasnt getting paid and that left just me and my mother to pay for everything. well one day he comes by and talks about whats left to do and i meet him but my mother forgot to write a check for him because she was in the hospital. He was quite agrivated by this and i told him i would get it for him when i go to visit my sick father next. The next day a saturday mind you he is texting my mother and me and demanding cash that day and threatening to charge us an extra thousand just because he drove up there along with threatenig to go back to my house and start tearing down stuff he had built. Claiming oh he needs to pay people people and he doesnt like gettig jerked around. This man was well aware my father was in the hospital and not doing well and my mother was with him. He can take monthes and monthes to not finish a single room but we come 1 day late with a payment and the world has to end. Mind you this is all because we were 1 day late on an 800 dollar check after the thousands of dollars we had already given him. We dropped DZ Miller that day and I spent the rest of the last month of my fathers life finishing what DZ Miller didnt.

The only "quote" provided was the salesperson writing "$40k" on a piece of paper -- no detailed written estimate or proposal. I later received another quote for an epoxy coating from Foxy Coatings for about $11,000, which made me question the pricing even more. They also would not provide any references from previous customers. In addition, the $6,000 "discount" they offered only applied if I signed the contract immediately during the visit, which was a high-pressure sales tactic. After this experience, I decided to explore other options and am currently getting pricing for installing pavers over the concrete pool deck instead. Best of luck with your experience.
