Hey there staff at insight treatment, thanks for giving me my buddy back- literally and figuratively. A friend of mine moved a couple years ago out to the west coast and sort of dropped off the grid, not to say anything but he didn't have the best influences around him. His family, shortly after some events moved, but they came back a couple years ago. And I'm so happy to say he's been good- openly he said he'd been going to therapy and it made him a lot more aware of his adult decisions, he still uses the program at least as far as I can see he's even taught me some things. He's been very straight edge (wearing that title with me proudly) and he's back to the East coast. read more

Poorly run facility that has very young staff with inadequate experience. Corporate run facility in a sterile environment that is geared solely toward treating teenagers and not adequately setup to support adults facing real life issues who are admitted as part of the entire insurance industry scam that takes place these days. Be sure to adequately read all of the fine print during your intake process, as their admitting staff is very sneaky in the ways they pressure you to sign with them. It was like I was being prosecuted by two defense attorneys when I was undergoing my initial intake procedures with CBH - formerly insight. Read the other reviews on insight and you will get a true feeling of how the facility is still poorly run today. Care quality can be vastly improved, as one of the therapist is not even licensed and still trying to acquire their mandated hours while working on the job and providing treatment. The level of therapy is self evident and not up to par with previous therapist I've worked with outside of CBH. The actual facility itself is cold, grey and white in color inside and is essentially a former concrete warehouse turned into an office/therapy setting. Epic failure if you ask me. Their are three windows to the outside world from the inside, there are clear enamel covered concrete floors, and do be fresh white paint slapped on the walls to give the fake appearance that the facility was recently remodeled. C'mon now, anyone can apply a bandaid over a wound to hide the truth the lies beneath. The doors and sound proofing between therapy rooms are so poor that they have to use "white noise machines" to mask your therapy sessions from other clients to abide by HIPPA rules! Just buy areal solid wooden door and use weather stripping and endure your office doors seal adequately and add some carpet to each room and they will be more sound proof. It doesn't take rocket science to see that the facility management is poorly run at CBH. Kaiser Permanente and UCLA have better run and managed IOP programs if you do your research. It is unfortunate as the staff really try their best; however they really are just reading off scripts quite often in group therapy sessions and it's apparent when you are enrolled in the program that there is plenty of room for major improvement in their IOP program overall. Corporate run facility that is in the money making business, not healthcare industry! There is no empirical evidence nor data that can back up their claims that they are truly interested in treating each of their clients uniquely difficult mental health diagnoses. Some of their external staff has even mentioned that the Van Nuys facility is lacking far behind in comparison to the Pasadena, Los Angeles, and Manhattan Beach or Redondo Beach locations. There is definitely vast amounts of room for improvement in this facility. For the amount of money they charge your insurance, you'll never be able to receive that same expected level of mental health care at CBH. read more

Seriously amazing!! We participated in this program for a year with our teenage son and this team brought our family from a state of complete emotional chaos, to a place of love and harmony in our house. We all put in the work, and although it is tough sometimes, it is WORTH it! We saw our son's confidence grow, he was able to make friends for the first time, he was challenged in a loving professional environment and we all grew so much. Our communication is much improved and this team worked hard to make that possible. Before we started this program, our house was full of yelling, screaming, lying, slamming doors, suicide threats, running away, refusing to attend school, etc... Now, I'm here to tell you that no one is walking on egg shells anymore, this kid has straight A's in his Jr. year of High School. He is in the choir, does his homework without being asked, goes to school without complaint, and here are some real life quotes I literally NEVER thought we would hear: "Thank you so much, I really appreciate you" "Is it ok if I vacuum my room" (Almost fell over from this one) "Can I go to Six Flags with my FRIENDS?" His room being clean and grades looking good are just perks if you ask me. The real reward is seeing his confidence, hearing his laugh again, and how much love our home is filled with now. read more

My child has been attending the program for six months. In that time there has been progress and set backs, but I continue to see positive changes in my child! The staff is supportive, communicative to both the parents and children One of the many things I like about insight is the ongoing therapy that is offered daily for the child, the activities to help stimulate the kids and the weekly parent support group and multi-family group. Insight Treatment Program is AMAZING! My son has struggled with depression since he was 9. At 17 with this pandemic it hit a fever pitch and he began using marijuana daily to self medicate. He asked us for help and by God's grace we found Insight. The staff at Insight is so professional, thorough and caring. We feel like we are part of a community and not in it alone at a loss to help our son. The program not only helps your teen, your entire family is involved in the healing process. And what is additionally impressive about Insight is you are not there for 30 days then kicked out because your insurance runs out. The team is committed to your recovery first not dollar signs. This place is seriously from the future. Past groups and treatment I have dealt with have certainly meant well, but these people really get it. I'm a little ill today and normally I would have stressed all day no matter what I was told, but Danielle replied to my email in such an absolutely amazing way, I feel like I can really focus on "Am I well enough? I can say with absolute certainty that I would not be the woman that I am today, had I not attended Insight. I graduated from Insight about 8 years ago and I have 9 + years sober today. Insight gave me a foundation that allowed me to go out into the world and experience life, without having to drink to get through it. I would have never been able to get sober on my own and I am so grateful that my mom sent me to Insight. Insight was like a family to me and I still keep in touch with the people who were there when I got sober. They also have the most talented and skilled psychologist, Dr. Daryn Plancher. Any family who has the opportunity to work with her is incredibly lucky. Teenagers are a tough group and I would say many of the people who come here are not ready to get sober, nor do they want to. The first time I heard about insight, it seemed like one more place, a program may not differ from others, but that was before long before Insight. There is a hope, it was not very easy to find it, learn to understand what my eyes did not allow, change the expectations with love and compression, that and much more I have learned, Insight open the doors to my family with a lot of professionalism, with human beings who gradually became a family, teaching us and giving us the tools, the necessary tactics in this process and teaching us that we are not alone, that there is help, hope and that love and compression teaches us more than we can understand, thanks to all the members of this beautiful group that make it possible to feel part of an important community. The overall treatment was nice, but as the groups began growing in size, less attention was being spent on people who needed it and during my time, when there would be issues between clients, the staff seemed more inclined to turn the other cheek or inadvertently encourage the behavior rather than address it properly and consider the fact that some people just aren't willing. If you're considering going there, or considering sending your kid, I'd say this: be aware that going to Insight may perpetuate bad behavior for those who are unwilling to change because of the way it's set up, organized, and executed. Insight relies on ultimatums and rule-following, but the honest to god truth is that if you/your kid doesn't want to do the work, there's nothing the staff can do to stop you or force the positive behavior. I'm sure Insight has changed since my time there, but it wasn't the best it could've been, and the staff do not have as much control over the clients as they like to believe. Besides, I wouldn't count on change from a program that foregoes improvement for tradition and order. read more

I don't know why but Yelp just took down my negative post about Insight. My family and I had a horrible experience with Anthony and Insight. My son was kicked out, after paying upfront for 6 additional months. You know why he was kicked out??? For talking to one of the girls in the program. Do you think she ever got in trouble for it???? Absolutely NOT!!!! She had 2 other siblings in the program that were still paying Anthony money, so why would they kick her out. Do you think we were refunded the money Anthony took??? Of course not!!!!!While we were there, about 4 staff members quit because they were tired of the lies and the way the business was run. Yelp, keep taking my posts down and I'll just keep putting them back up. Parents should NOT have to go through the nightmare we went through. We were not the only unhappy parents at Insight, but for some reason, the unhappy reviews keep getting taken down. Shame on you Yelp for allowing this to happen. My sister got all the help she needed at insight treatment. They helped her deal with her issues not only at home but also at school. She is doing so good now since finishing she has started college! They helped our family cope with the problems we had to deal with regarding her issues and as a family we are doing much better in communicating with each other. My son attended Insight for about a year and not only nothing good came from it but my son never needed this program and they should have known not to take him. Anthony Lopez, the owner came across like a street hustler, was rude and used licensed therapists from questionable University backgrounds to intimidate the kids. Nothing "insightful" that I experienced. They prey on rich parents who are willing to pay anything to get their kids back on track and their technics don't work. Most of the kids fail the program and are released early to be replaced with high paying new comers. I am a real parent and please contact me if you doubt the authenticity of this review. read more

Insight may have gotten my daughter sober, but it definitely did not help her mental health. after being forced to become friends with the other clients they are then told to break one another's trust in group therapy, which gives no trust between "friendship". The school there is a waste of time, with no teachers and no curriculum. They just do the curriculum from a cold room with one break a day. Please don't send your children here it was a major mistake and may have crushed my relationship with my daughter. read more

Insight Treatment Programs was absolutely the right call for our daughter. She was in such distress with drugs, alcohol and self-harm, and my wife and I are so thankful to have chosen Insight to lead us through the rehabilitation process. The program was challenging but so necessary for our entire family, and by the time we'd finished, there was a tremendous amount of healing and understanding within all of us. Daryn and Allison helped us get to the root causes behind the issues our daughter was facing. The compassion, understanding and expertise with the team at Insight has been amazing, as our daughter is now going on 2-years sober and free of self-harm. She will soon be off to college and my wife and I can breathe a little easier knowing that she has embraced sober living and discovered who she is as a person. I normally do not write reviews but Insight deserves one. My 15 year old son came out of residential treatment for mental health/substance abuse and we were referred to Insight for their terrific IOP program. Insight has exceeded all of our expectations in all areas. When I first stepped into Insight I knew this was the place for my son. It was warm and inviting and lots of cool graffiti on the walls. They have group therapy 4 days a week and bring in an outside trainer and drum teacher a few times a month. The owner Frederic truly cares about the well being of the teen's and making sure everyone is happy with their treatment. He isn't all about making money like some other programs I had researched. The therapists are INCREDIBLE. Every Wed is group for parents and teens and I leave each week feeling so lucky to have found Insight. They really look at the whole family, not just the teen and try to get to the root of the issues. It's definitely not easy but they're 100% there for you every step of the so you don't feel alone. My son hasn't liked one therapist and we finally found someone he likes at Insight. The counselors are amazing too. I really could go on and on about Insight and you have a child struggling with metal health or substance abuse this is the place for you. Thanks Lisa, Frederic, Daryn, Sheldon, Ivan and Vince! This is an amazing program that helped guide our family to the healthy place we are in now. I went through the program with two of my three children, spending a several years there. It requires a complete commitment on the part of the parents, but it works miracles. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone with a young person in need, be ready to examine yourself and have an open mind, it is not a quick fix. Our son was treated at Insight for social anxiety and depression during highschool. It was a scary time for him and us. Although he did not have a drinking or substance abuse problem, we were worried that because of his depression he was at risk for self medicating. We chose Insight because of the whole family approach. Our son participated in group and stag therapy, individual therapy, and family therapy. He received alcohol and drug education/testing. This helped him stay sober during treatment and recognize the risks for himself. He learned the triggers of stress, how to handle stessful social situations and peer pressure, and how to better communicate with us and his school. He became willing (and so did we) to do the work necessary to feel better. He graduated from Insight in 9 months and is now a triving college freshman. The staff was available to us 24/7 and were professional. Treatment of this kind can be difficult and hard to understand at times. The kids will throw the program under the bus because sometimes they just don't want to be there. However, if they stay, and the parents support the process the magic happens. The program may not be a good fit for every family, but that should not get in the way of families looking for help. read more

Suffering from depression and medical marijuana addiction, she was going down the wrong path. We got recommended by a family friend to take her here because she as well was seeking for help. Insight saved my teen daughters life. They have an amazing dual diagnosis program. The staff are incredible from Frederick who now owns Insight to Daryn the clinical director, to Jonathan and many others. My daughter is almost 1 year sober and 1 year without self harm. As a parent, I was at wits end when I brought her there and when we finished a year later she was a confident, sober, and resilient person. It is a hard program for the kids and demands parent involvement, but if you and your child work the program...it works. I am so thankful we ended up at Insight. read more

I cannot express how much insight treatment has helped my little brother overcome his depression. We've gone to numerous locations where they've promised they can help, but it never works. They've given him "medicine" that made everything worse. At insight treatment they took a different approach to his depression (no "medicine"). He's never been happier. My child was enrolled in the Insight program due to the fact that he was drinking and smoking pot to cope with low self esteem and learning differences. Insight told my son he was an alcoholic and drug addict and would only treat him as one. He needed coping skills to deal with his anxieties about being in high school, learning differences and low self esteem. Because he never admitted to being an addict they kept punishing him and taking privileges away from him because he wouldn't comply with their one treatment plan. They would threaten him frequently with being kidnapped in the middle of the night and sent to a wilderness program in Utah if he didn't comply. He never told us (his parents) so he got more and more anxious. They wanted us to pull him out of his school and go their home school which is very expensive. Their program costs about $5K a month (this was in 2012) without the school program. When my son was there the children were isolated from all other friends outside of the program, even the "good" friends. I understand that they should not be allowed to see the "bad" friends. We finally pulled him out after learning of how they threatened him constantly with sending him away. After pulling him from the program, we went and saw a renowned child psychiatrist and my son was diagnosed with PTSD. I cannot recommend Insight after our experience there. While we were there most of the children in their program did not "graduate," they just ended up leaving the program. If you're looking for a program for your child I understand all to well how difficult this time is for your family. It's very hard to know what the right thing to do is for your family. My hope is you would really ask a lot of questions before you enroll, about Billing, costs, how they get the kids to comply, why they allow underage kids to smoke cigarettes, what the kids do on the weekend. It is a 7 day a week program. How they address issues of anger. Etc. I wish all those who need help that they find the best program that they can for their child and family, as it is a family process. read more

Its been over a year and a half since I sent my daughter to Insight. I've given it some thought and I am ready to talk about what happened- it was so traumatic that its taken me some time. I want to expose them. I paid for 3 months in advance for my daughter, with the understanding that at the end of that, we would continue to have her in treatment for up to a year- we did not want to pay it all up front, and I am glad we didn't- people did, and got really screwed.. After 5 weeks, she was out of there. She had run away- when we first got there, we were promised that if she did run, they would be on top of it, that Anthony, the owner, would know how to find her and had detectives at his fingertips. It had been a concern of mine, and one of the deciding factors to choose Insight. But he didn't. They did nothing. She was gone 11days, during which I could not reach Anthony except once. He said- "Oh, she'll come back." He said he hadn't talked to his detective that he used in years and that his number was disconnected. He said he had no way to help. They promised that by the time she was found (by me, or the cops) or came back, they would have found a place to send her to with more structure- that was part of the program and what we told her would happen if she ran away from the beginning- and after she got out of structured treatment she would come back to Insight. They did NOT find her appropriate treatment. When she came back, they wouldn't let her back at Insight because she was too high acuity to come back to them, and it took two weeks before they sent me a list of three 'treatment' centers- during which I had, at home a troubled teenager, out of school (she had gone to school there, too at Insight), with no where to go, and I worked full time- a recipe for disaster, so unsafe, an unacceptable situation given that the people I paid 17K to completely abandoned her, me, us. Insight helped create this potentially dangerously unsafe situation, and did nothing to help. When they finally gave me some referrals for treatment, there were three, and one was an elementary school in Colorado- an elementary school! Not even treatment! My daughter was 15! It wasn't even an overnight school. It was like someone just grabbed three names of anything, anywhere and sent it to me just to get rid of me. It was bizarre. I work in treatment, and I know that these are scam artists. The owner tried to cause drama between me and my significant other, who had paid for my daughter to go there. When we went back to him to try to get some of the money back after this debacle, the owner tried to tell my now fiance that he was privy to some juicy information about me and was trying to make me look bad to him. This was SHOCKING, we are adults, successful and mature, not high school kids- this was insane! We were then supposed to sign an agreement not to talk about what happened and he would reimburse 1/3 of what we paid up front- but then the check he sent bounced.If they happen to help anyone, thats great and probably by accident more than anything. When my daughter was there, there were overdoses and kids being forced to leave the program for behavioral issues, even though their parents had paid in advance (sometimes for a whole year), and the other parents and kids are told not to ever speak to those parents and kids again. It was sort of cult-y like that. Desperate parents will be able to find some relief there simply from having people to help in any capacity and having other parents to talk to- I get that, and I empathize. But please, I beg of you, don't send your child here. There are amazing places, this is not one of them. My daughter is in a great place now, getting amazing help. By contrast, its shocking, and partly why I felt compelled to update my review. There are great ,kind, loving, dedicated professionals out there, and your child deserves nothing less. Insight is the worst thing you could do for your family. read more

I really can't say enough about the good that Insight did for our son and my family. He was in serious danger of dying from his drug and mental health issues. After much searching we found Insight and I had a meeting with Anthony Lopez. He understood the problem because he lived through it himself. Him and his staff guided us through an extremely difficult time. Our son knew he needed help but often help in a life threatening situation is not as simple as dropping your kid off and waiting for him to come back healed, it hurts and it's not without the whole family participating in the process. For this , this incredible group of people were amazing. They gave us a structure that we needed to get to the real work. I don't know how many times I called in the middle of the night one of the many caring staff members and had them either come over or give advice in what were at times extreme circumstances. During our stay there I had 3 friends who lost their children to overdoses and my sons best friend also lost her life on her last birthday. What we're talking about here just couldn't be more serious. So I do have a little trouble reading some of the other reviews. Are the people at Insight perfect, no. But sometimes especially when parents want to still be able to party with their kids and refuse to take the staff's advise, I know the outcome is not good. And lets face it , adolescents with addiction and mental health problems may never be able to manage their illness. So coming from a real parent please contact me if you want to talk about my experience there. If your kids in trouble this is a place that will show them love until they can love themselves. read more

I cannot thank Anthony and the staff at Insight Treatment enough! Long story short, like many, I have tried to lead my child in the right direction and prevent them from going down the wrong path. We're not at school with them, and sometimes we're busy with work and other responsibilities, so we're just blind to some things. My son started hanging out with a few kids who smoke weed. The first signs were bad grades. Then, aggressive behavior and not wanting to go to school. I put my foot down and shortly thereafter, he began attending the program at Insight. It's been three months, and he has shown such an improvement! He's done a complete 180, and is back on track. I only wish I would've done this sooner, or had been more alert to the things affecting my kid. In the end, I'm glad things worked out, and I'm grateful to Anthony and the Team for all their work! read more

I learned about the Insight Program through a lady I met at my church who has now become a great friend of mine. I was at my wits end, stressed, her son had done the program it worked wonders for them so I said "what the heck." At first, I wasn't as focused or confident in the program, my daughter had been battling with depression, and drugs for over 5 years at the time, and instead of helping we were just getting angrier, and hopeless with her. When we started Insight "we" as a family weren't fully committed, I was hopeless, and my daughter felt like she had been tricked. Eventually the staff, the place, the meeting, the program, all the activities helped, and we learned how to benefit from it as a whole, as a family. I thank the therapist and counselors very much as they were always available and gave us suggestions on how to help our daughter better. I think this program really worked for my family and I because we needed guidance as a whole, not just my daughter. Being my eldest daughter I didn't know how to deal with any of these issues and I thank Insight for helping me with that. family didn't know how to deal with any of my issues, Insight helped with that. The staff was very compassionate, Anthony was always around, and he would always tell us to reach out to him or our counselors for any need be. Looking back, I appreciate Insight way more than I did then. I wish I would of taken more advantage or appreciated it more then, but I am so thankful that I met Lydia that day, and she told me about Insight and how it worked wonders for her son. I definitely appreciate my family more as a whole, and my daughter and I have an amazing relationship. The program works, but you have to give back a little bit of yourself. There are no regrets, only compassionate memories. My daughter and I now have a very strong bond as a family, she volunteers to help, and feed the homeless, and hasn't used drugs since before she graduated the program. read more

First of all, I want to start out by saying that I, as well as a few others, have recently written incredibly supportive reviews on Insight Treatment Program, however, someone has removed them, which we didn't think was possible. It may have been a past client that clearly didn't do the "work" that was necessary to benefit from the most amazing experience that our family had. During a horribly frightening time for our daughter who had a substance abuse as well as a self harming behavioral problem, we learned of "Insight" through our daughter's high school. Not only did "Insight" teach us as an entire family how to communicate with one another, they also taught us how to look in the mirror and heal ourselves as a family. Anthony, the program director, and his staff have an approach that worked for us and many others I know. They have the deep understanding of our children's issues and know the most effective way to tackle them in a most sensitively firm manner. It is definitely a financial and emotional investment that I can't even put a value on. It changed our lives and although our daughter, several years later, is still finding her work path, as many others in their early 20s are, there is solid communication between us and a newfound appreciation for each other. I am absolutely sure that whatever poor reviews are on this site were written by families that didn't invest in this process, which is not an easy one. It's so easy to blame the facility, but this staff is well educated, sensitive, intuitive and extremely capable of making a difference that will change your lives forever.
