This is a great library, and I've been here multiple times. The first floor is separated into a kids zone on one side and a quiet study area with tables and computers and a lot of charging stations on the other. The second floor is huge and has a wide array of books for adults including fiction, non-fiction, etc., and again, there are a bunch of sturdy wooden tables, computers, private study rooms/quiet rooms, and even individual seats with attached little tables to get work done in the back. Overall, a great vibe. Also, I love that the entire front of the building is covered and has shade because it's nice to walk there if you just want to stretch your legs, etc. The front entrance also has a separate ramp to get up if you're not able to use the stairs! read more

I am so disappointed! It was advertised on the Freeman Library Website that it was open on Saturday, August 30. My family went to the library and it was posted on the outside door that it was open. Sadly everything was closed at 11:00 am. There are many people working in this library. At least, get your hours advertised correctly! read more

I am absolutely in love with this library. It bets the library near my house in so many ways. Gosh! Its such an awesome library! The things that I enjoy about this library the most is the fact that the its sectioned off by the kids, teenagers, and adult. The children's library is downstairs which is good because kids can get so loud and rambunctious at times. It has whole area just for them: books, computers, and bright colors. I am so glad about that part because I hate hearing babies crying or kids screaming so loud at Parker Williams library while I am trying to study. That is the worse. The downstairs area also has computers for those who are in a rush, and in the lobby that's where the bookstore is. They sell cheap used books on this rack in the front. Now upstairs is the teenagers and adult section. The teenagers have their own room with books for them, a nice study area with computers, and soft couches. The adult section is very large: books, computers, study rooms that you have to reserve, a quiet room, copy and print area. Also, the librarians here are helpful. I even spotted an area for information about the different activities. For activities this library caters to everyone in the family. They have weekly activities for toddlers, babies, teenagers, adults, and the elderly. That's good because its center you around people who enjoy reading like yourself. The ladies restroom was pretty clean and looked plain with white walls/toilets/counter tops. I can't speak for the men's restroom though. The parking lot is fairly big--it is shared with the police department. It seems like this library is always open too unlike the Parker Williams library. It is open on Tuesdays. It just isn't open on Sundays and that's self-explanatory too. I always make the drive to this library and I always accomplish my studying. I don't get distracted here either. They have lots of gardening books, I believe I saw two bookcases of them. The library is modern and it is nice to know that they like to incorporate the space theme. I love this library! Course I'm a total bookworm and a cheap one at that so I love libraries but this ones is the best! It's huge and fairly new, so it doesn't have that musty book smell that I love but I can get that at a used book store so I'm ok with that. It's a great place to hang out although sometimes with the TV's and people chatting on cell phones it can be a little loud downstairs. But the upsatairs seems to be a lot quieter if you need that. As someone else mentioned the website is awesome! If I don't have time to browse (and I hate that but it happens!) I can go online and request a book and they will e-mail me when it's ready for pick up! Woo hoo! Oh, and did I mention it's free? Yup. Free. I would totally pay for a library card but nope, it's free. Free books....free internet....free DVD's.....how can you NOT take advantage of this awesome library? Plus the staff has always been pleasant and friendly....I usually use the self-check outs and haven't had a lot of interaction with the staff, but from what I have it they've always been very nice! As far as library goes, this one is a lot more "high end". Beautiful building, friendly staff. Great section for kids. Teen have their area to hang out and use the computers. Adults can use the computer downstairs (slightly louder) or in the computer lab upstairs (quiet area) or on the main floor upstairs. Lots of books to read/checkout. Lots of free summer and year round programs for kids and adult. Computer, Facebook, eBay classes and lots more are offered for adults. Everything is free, including membership. Love this library! It's fairly new, pretty large and nicely laid out. Off on the left is the kids area with has comfy lounging areas. Upstairs is the "adults" space with lots of chairs, desks and several (i think 10) study rooms that can be reserved for tutoring. Oh yeah and free WiFi! read more

I grew up in this area so I remember the old library which was the main reason why I fell in love with books and reading. I started my literary journey here and at the park across the street with the rocket-ship. So, when they announced they were building a new, more modern one, I was skeptical. I am still loyal to the old library, the one who closed, but this "new" one is fantastic! From the service, the availability of books and content, and the cleanliness. There is so much to do here and even though I don't live in the area anymore or have a library card, I still show patronage to this place when I need stuff printed or just miss the smell of books. I came in to print off some much needed paperwork because I can't be bothered to set up the bluetooth enabled printer. I haven't been here in years and I was so excited to see how many books and movies they had for sale in the entry. 50$ for one or 2.00$ for 5. It's a trust system, so make sure you actually leave some money, cheapwads! I found some really nice books, including some Dragon Lance books for my dad. Great condition and well worth more than the .50$ price tag. The women in the adult section upstairs (there is an elevator!) were super nice. Beware, the copy and printing area only accepts foldable money, so no coins and as a guest, you can use the computer for 1 hour at a time. If you're a parent, your kids will love the story-times and other events the library holds not only for kids but for adults as well. (Coloring class??). read more

I was a major fan of the old location next to the courthouse. Now my kids love coming to the new and improved location. So many services for kids and plenty of space to read and study quietly. Definitely a cool place to spend time with or without children. Book selection is fantastic and the staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. All the automated services like book reservation, checkout, study room reservations help you plan your day at the library in advance. read more

This is an excellent library and community resource. Highlights include an inspired international film collection, an airy and modern design with plenty of comfortable seating, wi-fi, and a useful but manageable collection of books. (Just now I was able to pick up three useful and recently-updated travel books for Denmark.) If the library does not have the book you particularly need, you can also tap into the Harris county network and get your book delivered in a manila envelope, where it will wait in the shelves on the first floor til you come to retrieve it. I also have a soft spot for this library because it's where I voted in my first presidential election this November. read more

I want to like this library so much but its so hard to. Ok so it has computers downstairs and upstairs. Downstairs is for people who have children or who can deal with children laughing, playing, talking loud and doing what children do. Upstairs is supposed to be for young adults and older people. But most of the time parents are upstairs with their children and they just let them runaround. Which can be very noisy! They have a young adult (teenagers) section which is closed off in sectioned room lined with computers, books, tables, chairs, comfy beanie chairs, and a big screen tv in the back. It is much more quieter in that room than upstairs in the open. And if you want to use that room and you're not a young adult or teenager you cannot use computers. Unless you use a 18 and younger computer pass. The noise, yes upstairs can be quieter than downstairs, but it's not THAT quiet. All the librarians seem to talk louder and make more noise than the people who are on the computers. They also have classes upstairs that are very loud when entering and exiting. The librarians also don't care if there is a child running around screaming and playing upstairs. They rather tell a person on the computer to turn down the music than tell the child of the parent to control their children. I was told by one librarian that I should come earlier to avoid the noise. My biggest pet peeve there is the homeless guy. That comes in early in the morning and leaves around 12. He is the noisiest person on the computers there. He usually comes in and watches a movie, pulled his shoes off, bangs on the countertop and talks too loud. It is kind of good cause it hypes me up to make noise since the librarians don't do anything about it. Upstairs does not have less noise! Keep that in mind. The computer can be a bit dirty. That people forget that they're putting their fingers in their mouth. Yuuck! In the bathroom there aren't any paper towels to dry hands, open the doors, or clean your face. This library offers classes such as 3 D printing. Behind the librarian desk upstairs are 3D printing models that other people have created. Yeah I'll just keep coming to see if the noise improves.. read more

This library is one of my favorites. They have a great children's area with several sitting areas, toys, educational rugs and a great schedule of children's storytimes and activities. There is also a bank of computers that kids can access with their library card information. There is also a teen area with comfortable couches and booths for study groups. They have a computer lab in the teen area along with a great selection of juvenile/young adult books (which I will never be too old to read=). They have a computer cafe of sorts with small tables and wifi. You can check out laptops to use inside the library as well. You can order books online and pick them up near the entrance (especially wonderful for moms of small, screamy children who don't have the patience for the adult section). The main reason I'm yelping the Freeman library is the Friends of Freeman store that sells used books everyday in a small enclosed store near the entrance. People donate books thinking that the books will be used by the library and they are..as revenue from this store. I have found a lot of great books in this little store. The books people donate tend to be a caste above the books people give to goodwill. If you are looking for a certain used book or record it is worth checking out the Friends of Freeman bookstore. read more

I had not been to this library in 6-7 years as I preferred to build my own mini library at home. Well, being a few books away from becoming a crazy cat lady, I decided to change my MO and start checking out... Wow!!! This place has changed for the better. The library card process was extremely easy. They ask for a 1/2 page application, drivers license, and proof of address if your address is not the one in the ID. Once they key in your info, you get a key tag and an actual card both. With your card, you can check out up to 72 items at a time. Also, you have access to their 3 online databases for Ebooks, magazines, audio books, and more. With the online services you can download books to your Nook or Kindle devices for reading. Once your check out time is up, it is automatically checked back in to the database, so you don't risk late fees. The kids section was ample and the librarians were sweet! My 2 kiddos thoroughly enjoyed exploring and picking out their favorites. The library itself has plenty of self check out stations that make it a breeze to check out your faves and go about your merry way. All in all, nice, modern, and well kept facility that is family friendly. I will make it a point to support my local library. read more

Love this library. Perfect layout, they keep the small children on their own side of the bottom floor. Takes the stress out of introducing toddlers to the library, as they do not know to use indoor voices always. Their children's programming is unmatched. Lots of story, craft, play and activities on the schedule. Usually free. This library is HUGE, across from a park and shares a large parking lot with the courthouse. I really love the Clear Lake City -County Freeman Library! When you first walk in there is a lobby area with books from the used bookstore to browse, plus to the right is the used book store which contains MANY treasures of wonderful books at a super low price! I have gotten some great biographies there for $2 instead of the "new" price of $20-40. It is a great spot to browse every so often to see what new treasures have arrived. Next, to you left there are displays with local interest items such as art or books or photography--always very interesting! After walking almost to the entrance of the library area, to the right are the drop boxes for books and DVDS. As soon as you enter the library, there are displays of book recommendations which are always interesting. On the right are the checkout computers and the desk where librarians are available to answer your questions and check out your books. There is a big wall covered with the requested items people have put on hold. Also there is a large display of DVDS. The children's area is on the 1st floor and adult area is on 2nd floor. There area always interesting programs for kids and teens and adults at the library. I really love the online resources available through this library. The library is also part of a network of other libraries, so you can find just about any book or DVD or resource you are looking for, because if they don't have it then they will find some other place who does have it and get it to you. So great! I have really enjoyed the kids programs with my son through the years. It is a great library and I highly recommend it! read more

This is one of the best libraries I've been to. 1. Meeting rooms with projection, a piano, refrigeration, stoves, microwaves, sinks, etc. (bring paper towels, though). Both are downstairs with easy access to the children's area, which makes meeting there very kid-friendly if you need it to be. 2. Laptop checkouts 3. Study rooms 4. Publicly available (when it's not reserved) conference room upstairs 5. Tween hangout upstairs 6. Quiet room (ahhhhhh!) 7. Many, many periodicals 8. Attentive, helpful staff 9. Children's area is separated from rest of library and is also staffed. My only complaints are the unattended or poorly attended children who tend to wander (or run or yell, etc.) upstairs when their parents come upstairs with them for something, the fact that the AC is frigid enough to make your feet numb (seriously) and a book challenge I made to an adult book erroneously being included in the children's library. Also, the librarians should be more forceful with the cellphone policy. Love, love, love it. read more

There were people sitting outside and other people kept walking up to the front door waiting for the front doors to slide open. I called from my car. Their hours today were 1-9.
