I was in the area with 2 hours to spare before my next activity, but wasn't in a spending mood so I stopped by. There's always plenty of comfortable chairs, wooden tables, and public computers open for use. The workers are always polite and helpful if you need to use a computer or reserve a room. I've also used this place several times in the past several years to get some studying done. I've never had issues. There are 2 private rooms on the 2nd floor with a customizable air blower in each room. It functions well as both ventilation and white noise. You face a window to the front entrance which is great for letting sunlight in. However, the room is quite small so it's not ideal for claustrophobic people. I forgot to take a picture but this place has a children's only area as well. The windows are decorated with creative memes and other drawings that add to its kid-friendliness. Looks like a great place to bring your kid here. I've seen more impressive libraries around Houston but this one is by no means bad. It's nice to see libraries still alive and well in this environment. Check it out if you're nearby!

This is a great library, and I've been here multiple times. The second floor is huge and has a wide array of books for adults including fiction, non-fiction, etc., and again, there are a bunch of sturdy wooden tables, computers, private study rooms/quiet rooms, and even individual seats with attached little tables to get work done in the back. Overall, a great vibe. Also, I love that the entire front of the building is covered and has shade because it's nice to walk there if you just want to stretch your legs, etc. The front entrance also has a separate ramp to get up if you're not able to use the stairs!

Dedicated in 1966, this is clearly a "government" building from the look and feel, a "Moderne" style. It is a six-story concrete and glass structure. The first story has a wide brown colored band of concrete supported by concrete pillars. The upper stories include a concrete lattice over the recessed windows. The roof line is flat. We passed more refineries then I have ever seen in my life. It was basically a dirty dingy air polluted ride down here. There are NO stores at all at the cruise terminal. You have to stand outside in the elements with no shelter or even a wind break. In 36 degree temperatures and a 25 knot wind it was COLD. This cruise port is literally out in the middle of nowhere. The only thing to look at is refineries. The bus drops you off. Your baggage gets tossed out onto the ground. (I am not kidding). You hope someone will do something with it while you go stand in line outside and freeze. Yuk!

It was nicely laid out and you could walk up and buy a ticket with a self guided audio tour of the place that included historical tid bits about the family and what was happening in the area at the time they lived in it. They apparently have private tours of the upstairs/attic areas but those you have to book and pay for in advance. I enjoyed the audio tour and even bought a few items at the quite spacious gift store! At times I felt like I was the only one in the house because it was probably a non tourist heavy day. You can easily park on the street and walk in to buy a ticket the day of...well at least on the day I was there!

I had been wanting to visit the Rosenberg Library since booking my vacation to Galveston. This…read morelibrary did not disappoint! The Rosenberg Library is huge! On the fourth floor, they have it dedicated to the history of Galveston. It was interesting to learn more about the 1900 hurricane that devastated Galveston. The library did a fantastic job with that exhibit as well as the Galveston's African American history and the history of Galveston in general. There is also a rare book room as this floor and very clean restrooms. The third floor was the young adult and computer area which we did not go to, but it did look nice. The second floor had books, board games, video games, DVDs, audiobooks, and more to check out. (We needed up checking out a board game for our stay.) This floor also had magazines, a community jigsaw puzzle, a small used bookshop area (with books available for cheap and in great condition), and a few other things. The ground floor hosts the children's area which we did not go to, but it looked like a cute and engaging area for children. The circulation desk is on the ground floor as well. Staff was all very friendly as well. There's also ample free parking in the parking lot for the library as well. Definitely check out this library when you're in Galveston.

Knox Wastewater Treatment Plant after I spotted the sign pointing the way to "R.V. Dump Station." I've been on the road for two weeks and I was thinking about it being time to empty the "black water" tank in the RV when I passed this way. Super easy and completely free to pull up to the spot, dump out the tank, run the proper rinse through it and head onwards, minus several gallons of used food. Simple, level, clean. The only improvements I might offer would be to include a short hose (I'm guessing they did but it got stolen) and a trash bin for tossing my used latex gloves (probably a challenge to empty it way out here in nowhere).
