I have held off on posting this review for several weeks in hopes that there would be some form of…read morefollow-up or accountability from the office. Unfortunately, that has not happened, so I feel it is now necessary to share my experience. For context, I have severe dental anxiety due to a strong gag reflex and complex dental needs. I chose Wolf Creek Dental because I was previously a patient in 2018 and had a great experience with Dr. Lark. After returning to the area, it took me two years to build up the courage to schedule another appointment. When I finally did, I was not informed that I would be seeing a new provider. I explained my history, including my anxiety and typical need for nitrous oxide. Despite this, I felt the bedside manner was lacking. They tightened my implant, took X-rays, and scheduled me for a return visit to complete a filling. On November 20, I arrived for that filling. I again explained my anxiety, my gag reflex, and my need for nitrous oxide. My concerns were not acknowledged. After numbing me, the assistant rinsed my mouth--hitting the back of my throat and triggering my gag reflex. I immediately sat up gagging, and they used suction, but my throat began burning and I had a horrible chemical taste. At that moment, I realized they had rinsed my mouth with bleach. I threw up all over the paper bib, which instantly stained, and it got on my clothes, ruining my sweatshirt. I was sobbing, shaking, and grabbed my water bottle before going to the restroom, where I continued throwing up. When I came out, I told them I needed to leave and go to the hospital. They sat me in a chair at the front desk--not a private area. The receptionist appeared confused until I told her they had rinsed my mouth with bleach. Only then did she realize that poison control needed to be contacted--more than five minutes after the incident occurred. Meanwhile, the doctor attempted to explain away why bleach would be in the line. 911 was never called. I was told to continue drinking water and then sent home. The doctor called later that day, but due to panic attacks, I was unable to answer. There has been no follow-up since. As a result of this incident, I sustained burns requiring steroid treatment. I have since struggled with depression and significant anxiety, including nightmares where I wake up feeling like my throat is burning again. I now take medication for these symptoms. Needless to say, if you are looking for a compassionate provider who listens to patients, prioritizes safety, and responds appropriately to emergencies, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

The dental assistant got my set up a referral for a wisdom teeth removal, but I needed someone that took my insurance. I called and called Wolf Creek over a couple month stretch asking for a different referral to another oral surgeon. I even gave them a long list of offices I could go to. I was told by the office ladies that I'd be called back or that I would need to set up an appointment with another office first and the story always changed depending on who I talked to. Not to mention I never received one returned call and it seemed like my needs were going no where. I had to go to a different dentist soon so my X-rays wouldn't expire, just for a referral and I got right in. Wolf creek could have done a better job with staying in contact with me and getting back with me over something I really needed.

Who are you ...Great Lakes Family Dental Group of Tecumseh? I don't know you anymore…read more Let me tell you all a story that goes back to the 1960s when I was a little boy....all the way to modern day 2024. My mom took me as a 5-year-old to the dental practice of Doctors Murray, Wolf, and Curtis DDS. A dental practice located on the northeast corner of Chicago Boulevard and Democratic Street at the time. They had a reputation of being the finest dental practice in Tecumseh and that is where I grew up having my teeth taken care of. Over the decades partners changed and a reincarnation of that practice eventually moved to the current location on Russell Road and became Great Lakes Family Dental Group. And many of the same familiar faces were still there including my dentist Dr Wolf. I realize people retire, pass away, time marches on and new people take over... that's the cycle of life. So I did my best to adapt to the new practice and for many years everything was fine I developed a relationship with a new dentist after Dr Wolf retired and my service continued to be top-notch like it always was over the course of a lifetime. Then, within the last 10 years things started to change. I could no longer see the dentist I developed a relationship with because they were no longer there so I tried a new dentist but that didn't last ...they left as well. And another and another and another. I must ask...What has this practice become? Could the Great Lakes family dental group be called "Great Lakes Transient Dentistry". This got me thinking about changing dental providers after a lifetime with them and their predecessors. THE CATALYST The catalyst to my eventual departure was a couple of years ago. I needed an implant so I had a consultation scheduled with their in-house periodontist who specializes in that procedure. Apparently she works between the different practice locations of Great lakes family dental group; a multiple location chain. I scheduled time off work for this appointment. Two days before the appointment I received a call from the receptionist at Great lakes family dental group advising me that my appointment was cancelled and would need to be rescheduled due to the unavailability of the specialist that would be performing the consultation. As I was speaking to the receptionist on the phone I heard another person in the background ask the receptionist "why is she rescheduling this one? " I then heard the receptionist I was speaking to (while covering the phone) reply to her colleague as follows... "that Dr ********** scheduled a "more expensive" procedure for that day & time." I guess they thought I could not hear them. Now I'm sure this goes on all the time but to allow the patient to hear this is very unprofessional. And to let ME hear it was downright stupid. I did not reschedule. I went to a professional in Washtenaw County and had my implant done. This got me thinking about severing ties with this Dental Group. Now two years later and another Dentist GONE, I am done with you . I guess I was just tired of seeing all the dentists come and go like Grand Central. My wife could not even establish a professional relationship with one of your dentists, due to the transient atmosphere. Just when you get to like a particular Dentist....they leave. I have moved back to a "local dentist" who actually lives in the community they serve. I checked tax records, the majority of your dentists do not live in or around Tecumseh. To your credit I will say ....most all of the oral procedures that I have received over the decades have been top-notch. until recently with one exception ...the last crown you placed popped off less than a year after it was placed. And you charged me again to fix it. Your "branch" of this group might be "in Tecumseh" but there's very little local about you and your Dentists anymore.

He said if I'd like to bring my wife in he would come in...on a holiday mind you and open the office to help her out. I can't think him enough for being so kind. As long as I live in the area I don't think I'll take my business elsewhere. Genuine care for people goes a long way these days...don't find too many people who actually care for others well being these days....again Scott thank you so much.

Well, I kind of feel funny writing a yelp review about a dentist but here goes! I'm writing this…read morereview because I am so happy, I just feel like I have to let everyone know. Who likes going to the dentist? Certainly not me! Well, I started going to see Scott after a bad experience with a previous dentist caused me to avoid going for quite some time. Embarrassed, I showed up at Dr. Doman's and got a cleaning and a general check-out. The hygienist and all the staff are super nice. It took two visits to do my first cleaning because it had been so long. (Very sad). They did a great job! I think I had to have an old filing repaired at that time too. Scott was super kind and attentive in every way, and very patient - especially for a scardey-cat like me. That was a couple of years ago. More recently I needed a crown. Scott fitted a temporary crown while we waited for the permanent one to come in. Well, it was late on a Saturday night, and quite out of the blue, my temporary crown broke for no apparent reason. (Because that's what they do, they wait for the most inopportune time to fail!) Panic! What do I do now? I had to fly out on a business trip the next day (Sunday). What on earth was I going to do? I decided to email Scott's office just in case they could direct me somewhere. Well, about a half-hour later, I received an email back from Scott asking me if I would be willing to come into his office the next day - Sunday morning at 8:15 AM. Can you believe it? I was almost crying! What a great guy! Sure enough next morning rolls around and there we are just the two of us in his office, which he opened just for me! He puts on the new temporary crown and I am all good to go for my new job. Fantastic! I ask you? Where can you find anyone who gives service like that? Scott is kind and gentle with a personable touch. He is highly skilled as a dentist, my new crown is perfect! He takes the time to get to know you and his staff are super awesome too. If you are looking for a dentist, I highly recommend Scott Doman.
