When I asked for clarification, I was told I wasn't registered, despite having completed everything and being told I was checked in. I also received conflicting information regarding my insurance and reimbursement, and when I asked to speak with a manager, I felt like I was being given the runaround. I also had concerns about private information being discussed across the reception area where others could potentially hear. The most frustrating part is that i left without any information about the reimbursement just a paper and card. The female behind the counter put it down that i was only there for ten minutes. My pharmacy information was also incorrect. I hope management addresses this situation and reviews how patients are being checked in and treated. There was no professionalism and I hope no other colored person has to experience what I did. I wasn't able to get her name but it was the woman who worked behind the front desk today. All the nurses and especially the doctor were very kind and helpful. I really appreciate thoes who helped and listened.

There is nothing quick about this place. The whole experience felt like a business deal to them. What has happened to health care? I would not ever go back here. UPDATE! So my elbow that was X Rayed here and cleared by their radiologist was in fact FRACTURED, so now I have a piece of bone floating on my ulna nerve and have to go have a nerve test done before they can remove the piece of bone. So now I live in pain still until I can get into have the nerve test done and who knows how much longer after that until it gets removed. Today validated why I gave such a bad review and why I will NEVER step foot in a Convenient MD ever again and I'll make sure the word gets out to the best of my ability about the crap care this place gives.

I never think to leave reviews for urgent cares/ERs/doctors, but after an extremely disappointing…read moreexperience elsewhere recently I thought I'd leave some love for this walk-in care clinic. A few years back I was getting sinus infections all of the time. When you know you have one, you know. Before I knew about the joys of telemedicine (it's so convenient to just tell someone over the phone your symptoms, the color of your phlegm, and exactly what antibiotic you need to get through the extreme discomfort of a sinus infection; which, if you've never had one, feels like your face is being kicked in), I came here. The wait time was what I thought it would be: around an hour or so. It was relatively quiet when I came, the waiting room was clean, and the interactions with each staff member was nice. I was brought to a bed where a doctor saw me almost immediately. I explained to him that I got sinus infections a lot and I believed I was on the verge of getting one, but really wanted to take care of it ASAP, since I was getting ready to do a bunch of international travel. He took a flashlight, held it against my cheeks, and said, "Yep, you definitely do." (Apparently this is called the transillumination test: the sinuses are supposed to appear hollow and have a reddish glow; if infected it appears opaque and the light doesn't shine through). He was friendly, funny, gentle, patient, and made me feel seen and heard. Now that I can use telemedicine through my employer, I'll probably just keep doing that. BUT if they were to suggest I needed to see someone and my PCP wasn't available, I think - for the Greater Portland area - this is where I'd come back to!

I know that everyone has their own tastes when it comes to personal care, but do yourself a favor…read moreand don't use this woman as your doctor. I've had a number of bad doctor experiences over the years, but this was by far the worst. Dr. Larson was recommended to me when I first moved to the Portland area and didn't know where to start when it came to finding a doctor. I've been lucky enough to stay pretty healthy over the past few years, so I didn't have to see her often, but I don't think there was ever a time I walked out of her office thinking 'Wow, I'm so glad this woman is my health care provider.' The straw that broke this camel's back was a recent experience over the 4th of July holiday. I called the office on the 4th (which was a Thursday) and left a message, acknowledging the holiday and asking to please be called ASAP. I did not get a call until the following Wednesday, which is an eternity later when you're sick. The other staff her is generally uninterested and slightly unpleasant, and when I signed up for their online services I started getting spam emails and phone calls. In the time that I used Dr. Larson as my physician, she referred me to an incompetent ENT who retired a few weeks after seeing me (so glad I trusted my gut and got out of there before engaging in procedures that would have needed months of follow up). Maybe we're getting too personal now, but my point is that this was the worst doctor I've ever been to, and people shouldn't have to suffer through mediocre health care, especially when there are awesome doctors out there (and it's not like we don't pay for the visits).

I am kind of stunned to find such a negative review of this doctor here. Dr. Larson was my doctor…read morefor about 2 years when I was a professor living in Portland and I found her medical care to be excellent. I saw her on at least 5 occasions, and each time, I found her staff professional and pleasant. During examinations, she answered all of my questions thoughtfully, and I found her very personable in her interactions with me. Dr. Larson's style of care I would describe as non-interventionist and holistic: she was not eager to prescribe medications for every little thing, and she asked me a lot of questions not just about specific ailments but about my broader health and well-being. I wish I had written a review before I moved away from Portland since I would remember more specific details, but I truly miss her medical care and expertise. I found her superbly professional and knowledgeable. And this is a more minor issue, but I found the fact that her offices are located in the ground floor of a building that was formerly a large home very comforting. The examination rooms were all properly clinical, certainly, but the rooms had real furniture and were warm and comfortable. In some ways this felt like visiting a traditional family doctor. Medical care has become, if anything, too impersonal and clinical. I really appreciated how Dr. Larson took care to create an environment for her patients that felt more like a welcoming space for her practice. I really can't recommend her highly enough.

I thought my only option for relief was surgery of which I had heard dire results. I read about decompression therapy and was relieved to see that there was an alternative to surgery. The doctor's at Maine Spine & Nerve took a thorough physical and oral examination including x-rays. The diagnosis indicated that I was a candidate for decompression therapy. At no time did they guarantee a cure, but given my condition, they had seen others with similar injuries who had relief and returned to normal daily activities after decompression therapy. They did indicate verbally and in writing that I was also responsible for working within their care guidelines in order to maximize the recovery efforts. Today, I am out of pain, able to sit comfortably, returning to a light exercise routine, and starting physical therapy. In closing, I am so thankful that I went this route instead of surgery. Thank you, Dr. Van Ploeg, Dr. Mueller and staff.

He can do things now that he was unable to perform last spring. I have multiple problems. My first concern was neuropathy and I sought relief through Maine Spine & Nerve. From the get-go, Dr. Vander Ploeg informed me that he could help but because I'd suffered for so many years with this condition, I could expect only partial relief. He said a 40-50% reduction in symptoms and I feel that I achieved at least 60% if not more relief. I also suffer from back pain. I have been referred to orthopedic physicians for injections and physical therapists for physical therapy. I went to an acupuncturist. Nothing helped. Because of the success my husband has experienced, I know that Maine Spine & Nerve will be able to reduce my current pain. Further, some insurances do cover the cost of these treatments. Unfortunately, ours was not one of them. Would I recommend Maine Spine & Nerve to any of my friends? You bet! I already have. You couldn't ask for or find a more friendly, congenial and caring environment. Thank you Dr. V, Dr. Meuller and staff. Elsie and Harold Cebulla
