Honestly what is people's time worth? Do not come here for a workers compensation evaluation. Once you come you have to come here for the evaluation every week. It's bullshit! They turn the TVS off after 5p so you have nothing to to keep you occupied while you wait. Can't see where you are in line either. A "perk" what a joke. Mind you not the women behind the counters fault because they don't know. Why do they turn off the T. for people who are waiting? Don't know! After waiting for over an hour and a half I was called to the desk and offered an alternative, a telehealth call on your phone in one of their rooms. Just have to find a doctor to do it and you will be seen that way! Wait what?!? Come on now. I'm frustrated beyond reason due to pain from waiting so long and now this! I was then told, with a smirk by the other "nurse" behind the desk, "you are behind those here for urgent care. You have to wait because your only a follow up and these other people have a medical need". Boom goes my brain! The nurse "dealing" with me states I have no choice but to wait or come back in the morning because I chose them as my WC doctor!! No I came here for urgent care. From time to time I come here, as my Dr. is closed on the weekends and life happens, whether it's myself or my family. We haven't had to wait long to see a Dr. and we have always been treated nicely and a quick diagnosis and treatment. I have also used their online Dr. service to, due to being so sick, I couldn't come in and it went very well. Now they don't take care of everything, but just ask and they will let you know and if they don't do a certain thing you may need, they will help you on where to go for your current need. I came to ConvenientMD after I'd been suffering from a sore throat and some other symptoms for a few days. When I checked in they had me speak with a doctor virtually, while the assistant conducted the swabs of my throat for potential infection. First of all, they didn't even take my vitals, I've never had that happen for any doctor's visit in my 32 years alive on this planet. More importantly, however, was how they reacted to what they saw. They indeed acknowledged that I had very swollen tonsils and may have even had tonsillitis, but refused to prescribe me antibiotics. They also didn't ask if I wanted to get tested for anything else, which is fairly routine at a doctor's office visit. Several days passed while I awaited cultured test results and, upon receiving negative results from what they did, refused to prescribe me antibiotics, while this is also routine at any other primary care physician or urgent care facility. My symptoms became significantly worse as I awaited the test results, so I was very upset that they refused to default to antibiotics. Shortly before I wrote this review, I went to the AFC Urgent Care in South Portland. They IMMEDIATELY recognized that I had tonsillitis and wasted no time in prescribing me antibiotics. additionally, the AFC facility also took the liberty to test me for several other possible illnesses, just to be on the safe side. ConvenientMD didn't just waste my time, they prolonged my sickness, when I could've been recovering days ago. Do NOT go to ConvenientMD, take your business elsewhere. The younger overweight nurse up front gave me absolutely nothing but sarcastic responses the entire time. All I asked was if I needed to do anything else after completing the forms and told her I'd like to pay with insurance and she would roll her eyes and give a passive aggressive response. Do not go to this office, as a clinician myself, I could not believe the way I was spoken to and treated. The man at the front desk was extremely disrespectful. I went in with a written x ray order signed by my Dr. they told me there was not enough information about the x ray, I asked what else they needed to be said so I could get another one sent over and they would not tell me what more info was needed. My doctor talked to them on the phone and they still wouldn't let her know what needed to be said more on the form. After that my Dr even said that I should walk out of that office due to how rude he was to her on the phone and due to how rude he was to me. read more

Patients Deserve to Know: Unacceptable Wait Times and Poor Communication I feel a responsibility to share my experience at this urgent care so others can know what to expect before deciding to visit. On 1/18/24, my wife brought our three-year-old son in for a suspected ear infection, and the experience was unacceptable. We were told we could monitor our place in the queue via a link sent to her phone. After starting at 9th place, she waited for over three hours, only to be bumped back in line without explanation. The queue system sent misleading notifications, including one that said she was "next," only for her to be placed third again. When she asked the front desk for clarification, she was rudely told, "You can't trust the queue. We'll call you when we're ready." In total, she waited over four and a half hours with a crying, uncomfortable child, only to endure another 40-minute wait in the exam room before seeing a doctor. No expectations were set, no apology was offered, and the lack of organization and empathy was staggering. If you or your loved ones are in urgent need of care, please be aware this may be the experience you face. I hope management takes meaningful action to improve both the process and professionalism at this location, as patients deserve better. read more

do not go to Portland, Maine for a DOT card doesn't matter if you pass all the tests they make you go to specialist to pay out-of-pocket and then refuse to abide by the specialist diagnosis. they discriminate they are the most unprofessional unqualified establishment I have ever been to. They should be charged with fraud for pretending to be a doctors office when nurse practitioners complete proper procedure and then go against specialist or real doctors. First, I will highlight the pluses of this convenient MD location. You can go online and book an appointment & I did not have to wait very long. The people at the front desk couldn't really have care less about me, but i didn't really have to interact with them because i signed in on an ipad. I went in after I had a zoom appointment with my family practitioners office. They recommended that I go to urgent care as it was impossible to inspect my throat by Zoom. The nurse at ConvienentMD Ptld that admitted me was very nice as was the NP that saw me. They were kind & compassionate which i needed as i had worse sore throat ever & a high fever. Tests were done and I went home with medication. But my throat was so sore I could hardly even swallow water let alone a medication. I got dehydrated so I returned two days later. The second time the admitting nurse was a man named Sam. I tried to explained about my sore throat and how I was unable to even drink water and that I tried to take the medication, but I was pretty much choking on it. He pretty much lit into me about how if I didn't take all of the medication I might as well not take any of the medication and I would probably die because I have pneumonia. He didn't listen to a thing that I said, and obviously he had a chip on his shoulder about something. I tried to explain to him that that is why I was there that I was hoping they could give me a liquid medication and maybe something to numb my throat. He was just outright rude, which I didn't need because I was feeling even worse than the first time that I went in. I would not want this type of person to be the face of my business. I would call his behavior close to abuse. I wonder if anybody's done a background check on this guy. The NP that treated me was named Cassie, and she couldn't have been nicer. I actually told her about Sam. I had a high pulse and temperature so she suggested that I have an IV which they could do there. she also gave me something to numb my throat, a little and liquid medication instead of big horse pills. Sam did the IV that he was no friendlier, nor empathetic and I sat crunched in a chair for an hour while I got an IV. I couldn't wait to leave. Bad vibe there. You know the saying, one bad Apple spoils a bunch, well Sam definitely did that for me. If you want to take your chance and go there, they did get me in quick there are a lot of nice female, nurses and NPs, who know what they are doing, but there is also a very rotten apple in Sam. Tall, handsome, condescending and no empathy at all. I would have given a 5* review had this male nurse not berated me. read more

I should have learned my lesson from previous experiences but I didn't. Took a chance on this place again for something really basic, a follow-up for something that's already been treated, is healing, but still irritant. One person ahead of me in the lobby and though I was brought into one of the exam rooms in a reasonable amount of time, I waited over an hour to be seen by a provider, who took one look at me as if he had never seen a skin rash in his life, asking bewildered what all my other unrelated skin blemishes and birthmarks were. It was as if his real job is a bank teller but he walked into a clinic by mistake and just improvised. He also seemed confused as to what my pharmacy was. In the end, I did get a prescription for exactly what I had set out to obtain, but I really should have learned from my own error last time and just gone to Maine Medical's urgent clinic. My husband had an excellent visit to this urgent care. It was five minutes before closing and I ran in to see if he could get some much needed stitches. The receptionist asked the clinical personnel and they took us back quickly. Riley, PA and Sam, RN were awesome- competent, friendly and didn't make us feel bad for coming in right at closing!!! I'm one of those "push through it" kind of people when it comes to colds and flus, but recently I was just so sick I knew I had to go see a doctor. Knowing an ER visit was unnecessary, I decided to check out the Urgent Care by Trader Joe's since it was - in fact - so darn convenient. I came in on a weekday afternoon and it was the fastest experience I've ever had with healthcare. I was in and out in around 30 minutes (and most of that was new patient form filling out)! The space is tremendously clean and most of the people are incredibly friendly; however - and I don't know why I need to add this, but it just stood out - there was this one woman in the back office area who stared at me *literally* the entire time I was in the waiting room and while walking to and from the examination rooms. It was super weird and made me uncomfortable. A bit of tact when dealing with sick people is necessary, y'know? Anyway, I ended up having an ear infection, a sinus infection, and a lower respiratory infection. Triple whammy of yuck, right? I knew what the treatment would be: some seriously strong antibiotics. But the guy who saw me prescribed six different medications. Knowing this seemed a bit unnecessary, I went to my trusted pharmacist and showed her the discharge papers. Verifying my concerns, she encouraged me to stick to just the antibiotics. That's what I went with, and a week later I was back to perfect health. All in all, would I come here again? If it was for something minor and I had the insurance I have now - yes. I feel really fortunate to have an amazing primary care physician though, so I don't see a reason why I wouldn't just see him. read more

They charged almost $500 to look at my urine sample for a few seconds and determine, yes, I had a bladder infection. That's a serious overcharge!! Plus, they keep your credit card on file and what the insurance company doesn't pay they randomly, out of the blue, charge your card. So a month later I was charged $250 on my card with no notice. They do not send a bill and let you decide how to pay!! read more

I went to the ER for a reaction to browntail moth caterpillars and they treated me like I was drug seeking, and with insurance received a bill for $700! So, now I have a reaction to shellfish that was in a collagen powder I tried, and I knew I didn't want to go to the ER again, so I tried ConvenientMD and wow! What a difference! I was triaged at the front window, seen immediately, received IV meds within less than 10 minutes from entering their door and observed for their standard time and released with meds that helped that night. And no bill, they said they would send it to insurance and bill me for the rest if there was any. No comparison, and as a provider, myself, I have many to share this with and already have!! My husband and I received covid tests here in August, 2020 and after paying our bill, both payments were sent to collections (one this month, a year later). When I called both times, after the staff was extremely rude to me, they realized it was a mistake and agreed to contact the collections company to get rid of the debt. While the initial tests were negative, we were again tested in November and diagnosed with covid. The staff did not put on PPE until after administering the rapid test and diagnosing us with covid, and gave us no information except to go home and quarantine. I ended up taking an additional PCR test with MaineMed. When the Maine CDC contacted me as a follow-up positive diagnosis, they said they had only received the PCR test and hadn't received anything about my husband testing positive. ConvenientMD never sent them the positive test results; clearly their records are a mess and the chances of them messing up yours are high. They get one star because they were convenient at the time (prior to billing), and were quick to get us appointments. I realize that this is an incredibly difficult time to work in healthcare. read more

I would highly recommend ConvenientMD for any future needs! I visited almost immediately after they opened one morning due to some sinus infection-like symptoms that I was experiencing. The first thing I noticed about this place is that it was extremely clean and spotless in the waiting room. I was seen within 15 minutes and had a very kind doctor who helped me get in and out. I really appreciated the thank you note I received in the mail and the follow up call! Following my appointment, I received a bill in the mail for my visit. Unbeknownst to me, this ConvenientMD location did not accept my particular insurance carrier. As a result, I called the office back to clarify. I told the nice woman on the phone that I was never told that my insurance was not yet in network to this particular location. She apologized profusely that nobody had told me this upon check-in at the front desk and waived my entire bill! I was extremely impressed! I will certainly be back. read more

Today I went to ConvenientMD Urgent Care for a painful chest cough, sore throat (I barely have a voice), and difficulty breathing due to the cough. While the receptionist and nurse were as nice and professional as can, I was completely dissatisfied, rather infuriated by the nurse practitioner who saw me. Based off of my experience with her, I will never step foot in this Urgent Care again, and regret ever referring it to my friends after I had a positive experience with a different Doctor back in November. This nurse practitioner barely took the time to speak to me about how I was feeling, and took less than two minutes with me to tell me that I had a virus and was going to give me a "9 step plan." Without asking me any further questions or allowing me time to speak, she rushed out of the room and came back with a paper with a generic list of things to do for a cough and common cold, resembling what one could find online if you searched google for answers. She was in such a rush that she did not even listen to my lungs or my breathing, and I was there for my CHIEF COMPLAINT being lung/chest pain/discomfort. I tried to ask her for a prescription for Flonase, because my insurance covers it and I have been told by doctors in the past that I should be taking it consistently, however I stopped taking it because it is pricey each month. I tried to explain why I was asking for it, however every few words she kept interrupting me, and speaking to me like I was misinformed ("its over the counter, it won't help you with this issue, it's for allergies, etc.) After I continued to advocate for myself and explain my situation, she finally wrote it, but only after infuriating me and making me very upset. While I understand doctor's can not always prescribe other prescriptions depending on the visit, there are other ways to have this discussion without speaking down to me and not allowing me to speak. I left this visit and burst into tears in the car. Not only did I waste my time and money to be spoken down to, I can't even feel confident with her diagnosis considering she failed to even listen to my lungs or breathing. The receptionist and nurse were fantastic, and it is truly a shame that this Nurse Practitioner provided such a horrible experience, so much so that I will never return to this office. read more

We are lucky that my adopted daughter has MaineCare and this is super close to where we live and way more efficient and quick than the ER or waiting for an appointment with the pediatrician. For quick virus swabs for Strep Throat, or fever it's been great for us. We've been there for broken wrist, broken toe, COVID tests, plenty of times and it's always been easy, quiet and not crowded and maybe we only had a time or two where the wait was very long, but ultimately worth it over going to the ER. read more

I had never been to convenient care before, so I was a little apprehensive. I was bleeding a ton and was terrified going in , but every single person that worked there was so kind and calmed me down. Angela was my nurse practitioner and she was incredible; knowledgeable, kind, and made me feel like I was going to be okay in a very stressful situation. For those that know me, you either know that I am or could believe I am a severe hypochondriac. Any symptom I have I always look up on WebMD and within 10 minutes I have a deathly disease. With this, I often find myself at an urgent care just to have a professional bring me back to reality. Once I saw that this ConvenientMD was being built right on Marginal Way which was just blocks from my place on the East End, I was just thrilled to have such close proximity to an urgent care clinic! Well within a week or so of them opening, I naturally found a reason to go visit them the other day! I arrived around 10A on a Wednesday and followed another person through the door. We were the only people currently in the waiting area. **Make sure you have an ID and Insurance card as they will need this right away when you go to check in.** After they entered in my information, I was called over to the side desk just to give some additional information (ie: Pharmacy choices, emergency contact, billing info, etc). As soon as I finished giving this information and went to sit down, I was immediately called.... Fastest service ever. I was immediately taken into a room to talk about why I was there and to have my vitals taken. I was quite impressed that they waited to talk about the reason I was there until this point as most places make you tell them in the waiting room which sometimes can be uncomfortable as there are many people that can overhear what you are saying. So thank you ConvenientMD. As soon as my vitals were done, I was transferred to a new room to see the doctor. Within a minute the doctor came in to see me and do all the things that she needed to do.... And as usual I was not dying, just had a severe cold and sinus infection this time! This place was fantastic. The staff was extremely friendly and their service was phenomenal. I am so happy to have this place in my neighborhood and to be able to come here whenever WebMD convinces me I am going to die. read more

The receptionist was kind and jovial; the person who helped with personal info was respectful and considerate.
